K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChange of Address
I am currently going through the k1 visa application which I got my NOA1 on June 3rd 08. I have moved address here in Scotland and moved back in with my parents whilst the process is ongoing to save more money. When I went onto the USCIS website in order to change my address it asked me for an A number? can anyone explain what the A number is please.

Also when trying to notify the USCIS of my change of address it asks for my current and previous addresses but only gives the option for a US state and zipcode and doesn't allow me to input a UK address.

Can anyone who has done this before please advise the best way to go about notifying the USCIS of my chage of address in Scotland, UK whilst my K1 visa application is ongoing. Can you do it online ok or do you suggest calling them?

Many thanks,

Stuart smile.gif

You know I was slightly irked when my packet 3 had to be forwarded. I lost another 3 days!!!! tongue.gif To be honest though, once your case gets to NVC it goes so fast that those 3 days that I got irked about were nothing.

Waiting for NOA2 is a different story though wink.gif I think I had too much time on my hands and sweated everything.

And it is worth it. All of it smile.gif Good luck!

thanks and good luck on the 19th

I had the same situation. I moved home to save money shortly after filing the K1. There is no way to change the beneficiaries address via USCIS.

When your partner receives the NOA2 approval notice your petition will be sent on to NVC before it is sent to the embassy. At this stage you can telephone NVC and ask them to record the change of address. I would give it time for the petition to be sent to NVC though.

I did this, but it did not work. Fortunately, I had my mail forwarded from my previous address and I received a forwarded Packet 3. I was then able to contact the embassy to register the change of address.

In short, there is nothing you can do until NVC. Make sure you have mail forwarded and then try the NVC tactic. If that doesn't work the embassy will change the discrepancy.

and no one will get mad! Except you if you don't get your Packet 3 tongue.gif

Thanks, I feel a better now about this. I was worried it might delay things. This really is a process you wouldn't wish on anybody but a process i'm more than willing to do to be with Courtney.

Good luck all

I think the best way is to contact the embassy as soon as your case is approved... since USCIS never really deals with your address smile.gif

Thanks. That's what I was thinking, just wanting to make sure they won't be annoyed that I didn't notify them immediately of my change of address.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChange of Address
Hey folks,

Can anyone help me with the best way to notify the USCIS of my change of address? The address that I used on my application is now my old address as i've moved back in with my parents to save money for my move to the US. The online change of address on the USCIS website is for the applicant and US citizen only so I was wondering how I as the beneficiary and UK citizen notify them of my change of address for my K1 visa.

Thanks very much and wish everyone success

If you download the guide for passport photos (easy enough to find but also available on the visa package letters from the embassy) you can do them yourself. There are rules about proportions, having no shadows, etc. You don't need any special photo paper. I had to enlarge the pictures my fiancee sent me (in photoshop) and I was able to print out several on a standard 4X6 photo. Total cost? 29 cents USD for 4.

wow that is cheap! cheers

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLawyer vs Do it yourself
Courtney and I used a lawyer to file for our K1 application. We didn't have any issues for our application and way more than enough evidence to support the relationship however we did not know about VJ before we filed and it ended up costing us a fair amount of money. Only after filing did I find VJ and all the help and experience available on here. Even when filing with the lawyers I have done all the research, all the forms and what seems like most of the hard work so not sure how they justify their large fee's!

I would definitely not have hired a lawyer had I known about VJ prior to submitting the application. People on here are amazing and are so helpful, any questions you have will be answered promptly, most of the time with the question being answered previously so you can often search and find the answer yourself.

1 plus of the lawyers seems to be that we got approved quickly for CSC, I don't know if that is because the lawyers filed for us so maybe they submitted our case in a way that makes it easier for CSC to process. The person processing it wasn't daunted by a large file that's difficult to understand or process. Just a thought tho.

Either way you do it I wish you the best of luck for a speedy approval

I reeceived my NOA2 about 4 weeks ahead of my projected VJ time although I realise I was very lucky. Some people take a month longer, some are a month sooner its just really down to luck and the VJ estimated timeline is as it suggest, an estimate.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 Process time for Vermont Center
QUOTE (waitingforever @ Jul 14 2008, 06:18 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi All,

First of all I just want to say thank you to everyone who is reading my post. I am a new to this forum so please forgive me if I ask stupid question but I tried to read as much as possible before posting my question here. I am sorry if there are few threads open with similar questions but I am just running out of luck with USCIS.

I got married and filed I130 and got my NOA1 - in 2/11/2008 and since then I have not heard anything from USCIS. I am just trying to figure out if anyone who has contacted the USCIS knows anything about the process. Few months back the process time was August 2007 but now it says July 30 2007? How is that possible? They went back from Sep to July in Vermont ??

I see many people got their NOA2 who applied after me? How? Is my application stuck somewhere or lost ?

I need to know how long it will take before they approve my i-130 and when should I contact them?

Thank You.

Hi
I dont want to give you false hope of getting approved anytime soon but it is possible A rough timscale of what i see is 8 to 10 months but if they are all up to date then obviously 6 to 8 months ( thats just for USCIS to approve )...I know the website says that they are working on or before cases for July 2007 but i dont think thats true...they never seem to update vermont I-130 timelines because my husband filed my I-130 in October 2007 and we just recently got approved ( june 26th) I don't have a straight forward case but i dont have a difficult one either...previouse marriages and denied entry back in 2002 so more of my case to look at i guess so if you have a straight forward case i am sure it wont take tool long. There are ppl that filed back in August...sept...oct...nov and dec 2007 that are still waiting for approval but again you might be real lucky and get approved soon and once you do NVC are so much easier to deal with regards to calling and getitng to talk with an operator and they do know thier stuff smile.gif
Hang in there it will happen.....USCIS is the hardest part from then on its all good smile.gif took almost 9 months for my case to be approved

Good luck

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureswe got denied
QUOTE (manda @ Nov 16 2007, 04:09 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
we had our interview on tuesday in dublin ireland for a cr1 visa. they seemed very confused about weather i was previously deported or not. on Thursday they asked me to come back in to tell me i am not eligible for a visa because of previous misrepresentation and "order removed upon arrival".

long story short: last year i went to visit my girlfriend at that time, i had a visitors visa and only a one way ticket. at the poe they harassed me and my girlfriend, trying to get us to admit something. at one point they called my girlfriend and claimed to me that she said i was going over to live there and that we had an apartment together and had plans to get married. this was all so ridiculous and very false, i knew my girlfriend/wife did not say that. i was merely visiting. they made up similar stories to my then girlfriend claiming i similar plans. Both of us never lied about our intention saying it was just a visit. they were under the impression that i was an intending immigrant.

they told me if i leave voluntarily and pay my own airfare back, i would not be barred for 5 years. and i would not be allowed back in until i had an immigrant visa.

since this mess at the poe, we have met in a nice country (canada) and lived there together and got married and started on the cr1 visa, back in nov last yr.

our interview was tuesday and the embassy wasnt sure about what happened at the poe last yr and needed to check it out, they asked us to come back in on thurs to say im not eligable because i would need a waiver.
they gave me 2 waivers to complete i601 and i212.
the part i dont understand is, they say i have a "212 A 9 A i : Order removed upon arrival" on my record. but i voluntarily departed and paid my own airfare. the instructions on the waiver say it doesn't need to be filed if you voluntarily left without the expense of the us government.

we've spent far too much time and money on this, so we'll probably just forget the land of freedom and opportunity and move to europe.
if however somebody made a mistake somewhere along the line, we need to find out who. the embassy admitted that there was a serious break in communication at some point

I am so so sorry to hear your dissapointing news sad.gif I know it's cost you a lot of money dealing with immigration , your last resort is to get an Immigration Attorney because if you give up on this now, it will always be a problem.
I went through a denied entry at Detroit Airport. I was visiting my friend in Michigan back in 2002 but had entered the states 7 times within 14 months ( i had b/friend at the time) so when i got denied it was due to lack of strong ties to uk. I went on to receive a travel visa in 2007 and now im married and going through I-130 filing as my husband is in Florida and i am in Scotland.
I guess since you only had a one way ticket and nothing more than a travel visa immigration would have jumped all over u as they did see u as a risk, in immigration's eyes the one way ticket said it all so thats why u had such a hard time.

I didnt get an attorney to sort out my denied entry i just dealt with it directly with London and they were okay about it but i will always need a travel visa if i wish to travel to USA on vaction and i will always get pulled up at POE. Now I am going through the Spousal Visa Process ( K3) we have hired an attorney simply to act on the denied entry because it's like a leech it sticks to you like glue.

I know every detail is recorded at POE i have had enough dealings with immigration at POE in the past because of the denied entry that its like here we go again ! It gets tiresome and old but i am always aware it will all be brought up. I kept the original documents and still have to this day so it helps but still a pain in the butt.
Please seek an Immigration Attorney to act for you because it seems there is a case for him there, I know it costs money but beleive me it's better to get sorted now that let it drag on.

Good Luck whatever you choose to do smile.gif

Hi to those I-130's out there sitting in this terrible backlog.
My husband sent out an e-mail to alot of senators and goveners just last friday (4th dec) he got a very nice letter form his senator along with a permission letter from the senator requesting to access our files that we sent to USCIS back in October 18th 2007, which he as signed and faxed back. Our attorney is very impressed of the quick response. The senator said in his letter that he wants to help get our case approved in a timely manner and ensured my husband that he is on the case so we shall see. I know its early days but with the backlog we still have no NOA1 nor has our cheque been cashed so he took the action of seeking help through his senator.....Thats what these people are here for so no harm in asking for help right ?

I know this may not make any difference and we are NOT asking for a favour like to be pushed through My husband is simply asking the Senator to see if he can locate our file and find out how long its all gonna take and since there is a backlog it would be nice to know what he finds out. Ofcourse we want this process to go quickly as husband and wife we want to be together but just knowing where it is and when we should look for it to get to London, UK for me to go for interview would be great...lets see what the outcome will be smile.gif

The senator acted fast on my husbands e-mail, only took 2 days to get a response so thats a good sign smile.gif

Good luck to all that are waiting for approvals smile.gif

Hi Susie

How are things with you ? I wanted to let you know of my updated info ....

my husband filed I-130 for myself On October 18th 2007 we got NOA1 for this Jan 14th 2008 what a terrible wait just for NOA1 but since then the case number is still not recognised on thier system so i can't track it however, he filed the I-129F on Jan 22nd we got NOA1 Jan 25th and it was touched 31st Jan 2008 and today i looked again and we have another date which is 24th Feb 2008 so i guess they are moving along nicely with I-129F regardless if they are K1 or K3/K4

I just hope our I-129F comes through sooner than I-130 because i have not seen my husband since August 25th 2007...seems forever !

Lets hope approvals are soon

There are people who filled in August and still haven't received the NOA 1. Now, it could take upto 90 days to get NOA 1. Yes, the I-129F (K3) visa works faster than the I-130, but you would have to do a lot of paper work when you arrive in the USA. I hope it helps, keep us posted on you status.

My USC Fiance and i got married in Florida this year it was not planned as I am from Scotland and we did have plans for christmas weddding here in Scotland but that changed and we tied the knot in Florida in August.

My husband and i have hired an attorney to handle the paperwork for us although we filed out the forms but we might need hius help along the way.

Anyways...he sent the I-130 paperwork to Texas SC on 19th October and has to this present time not received notice that they received the paperwork but he knows they have as it was fedexed and signed for. I am just wondering how long should it take for Texas to say they got it ?

Also our Attorney is filing I-129F for K3/K4 which is what myself and my son is going out on as they say that gets approved a lot faster than I-130. Anyone know if this is true ?

If so whats the timeframe for K3/K4

I will be going to US Embassy in London for my Interview once the time comes whenever that may be...LOL

Vermont is where we filed for K3 and beleive me we are still waiting we filed October 2007 ...i think there are a lot of I-130 and I-129F sitting on a shelf ...i guess they deal with the ones that have less paperwork regardless of date sent...It's not fair as they state on thier website they SHOULD process in date recieved order regardless of what type of Visa ...i often wonder why they hired all that extra ppl because it certainly looks like it has come to a halt in Vermont with I-130 and I-129F ...I'm sad sad.gif

im very frustrated because my case hasnt been touched since they put it in their system online 02/24/08 and knowing that other people who filed after us getting their approval so i just wanna know if they lost our case or throw it in the trash or what....hearing some news about ur case being touched from time to time wouldnt hurt but nothing,it just kills me....
anyway, if u have any other number that i can dial so i can talk to someone, plz, post it here, that would be very nice of u...thanks

We filed I-130 In October 18th 2007 got NOA1 in Jan 14th 2008 for this

We had to wait because the backlog to File I-129F until Jan 18th 2008 and got NOA1 for this 22nd Jan 2008
Last touch for I-130 was 6th March 2008

Last touch for I-129F was 24th Feb 2008
We still have no Approval and yes like u we have seen others that filed well after us, have approval already
So not fair but i am happy for all those that get approvals cause this is a terrible wait !

My husband called USCIS and talked with immigration Officer last week and he told my hubby that we should be adjudicated or approved April or May, still a long time we been waiting. I wish we could get approval and then i can plan a bit better for when i go to London smile.gif

Fingers crossed it will happen soon smile.gif

Good luck and let us know what the outcome is of your call to USCIS

We are at Vermont Service Centre too

Hi Guys, I called USCIS today and they mentioned that my file (I-130) is assigned to an officer. He did not want to tell any thing more. Does it mean that I am one step closer to be approved or it does not mean anything? I appreciate any reply. Thanks.

Oh Happy Day for you and your hubby it does sound very much like it's being adjudicated by an officer therfore you can look for Happy news soon smile.gif

Bless you both !

Michelle ( Oct K3 filer ) Still waiting .... hopefully i will be Smiling Bigger soon smile.gif

I am hoping to be with my husband for our 1 year wedding anniversary which is August 15th fingers crossed I get there...we are going on mini cruise to Bahamas somethng to look forward too smile.gif

Michelle

Hi Michelle - I'm an Oct filer too but at Vermont sad.gif

Are you thinking that we could get through the whole process by August? I was working on the idea it would be more like Oct/Nov now. August would be great.

Lynne

Hi Lynn
Our files are at Vermont too so we seem to be in the same boat...I know London are pretty fast at getting Appointments set once your file gets to the Embassy so as soon as u see Approval ( NOA2) and your file is at NVC you can be sure it will be in London pretty quickly

London do tend to work on things quickly ...medial and interview etc... I reckon if i get approved in May i will look to have Embassy appointment by mid July or end July this is assuming that we get approval smile.gif

So i will be looking to get out to Florida for my 1st year wedding anniversary. there is no reason why we should not get through this by August, after all, we are hitting our 6 month now and my husband will be Calling USCIS and our Attorney will be pushing for answers as to why we have not been adjudicated especially since there are others that filed after us and have been approved so i don't worry too much i think We can look for approval end of May at the very latest smile.gif This is only going by the timeframes the Immigration Officer at USCIS told my hubby on Friday.

It will happen soon smile.gif

Hang in there smile.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAnyone who got their NOA1 in Dec 2007
QUOTE (Helen&Dougie @ Apr 14 2008, 12:57 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I received my NOA1 for our I-130 on Dec 31, 2007. On Feb 24, 2008 I got a note saying our case was now at the Vermont Service Center (we filed in Texas and it was sent to Vermont). I was looking at Delicia's timeline spreadsheet for the Vermont and California Service Centers and noticed that everyone else who received their NOA1s got NOA2s 1 to 2 months ago. Its been 118 days since we received our NOA1 and we still havent heard anything, is this something to be concerned about? I dont really know if its outside of their (USCIS) "processing" times or not. Is there anyone else who received their NOA1s in Dec 2007 that have not yet received their NOA2s?

My husband called USCIS on Friday about our files as we filed I-130 in October 2007 and 1-29F Jan 2008 as we were caught up in the backlog and we are still waiting for K3

The Immigration officer he spoke with was nice enough and said we will probably be adjudicated in 5 to 7 weeks as Vermont are working in August / Sept so we are hopeful to see approval this month or may. It is unfair as we know a couple that got approval and she filed in Nov 2007 a month after us, we are pleased for her and for anyone getting approvals but we'd like to see more movement on the ppl left behind ! smile.gif

Here's hoping it will pick up speed soon because it feels like an eternity !

I am hoping to be with my husband for our 1 year wedding anniversary which is August 15th fingers crossed I get there...we are going on mini cruise to Bahamas somethng to look forward too smile.gif

Good luck to you and all waiting at vermont service centre

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR1/IR1 Marriage in the US
QUOTE (DCM @ Apr 28 2008, 03:45 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am from the Bahamas and planning to get married to a US citizen. I checking the Immigration web site I have found many answers to questions I have, but I would like answers to these questions.

Can I come to the US on a regular tourist visa get married then return to the Bahamas to wrap things up and have the CR1/IR1 and I 130 petition filed for me. Does this make sense? Is this legal?

I would like to be able to move back and forth between the Bahamas and the US to see my wife and also wrap up my business here?

Or does it make much of a difference if we get married in my country, then apply for the K3 spousal visa? Will I be able to work right away after the visa is issued? I would hate to be idle in the US for months on end.

DCM

I am UK and my husband is USC ....we got married in Florida and i returned home and now we are waiting on approval of I-130. I was over on B2 Visa visiting didnt plan on getting married till Dec 2007 we changed our minds and got married while i was there ...it was a rush but we did it so yes u can marry but must return to your own country and start the process from there smile.gif

i'm getting stuff ready to send off to my senator, and i really dont know where to start. does anyone have any example letters of what they sent? im not sure exactly what i should be writing lol thanks in advance!

I wish you luck in asking for your file to be expidited ...... My husband and i were married in Florida on August 15th 2007 we filed our I-130 on 18th October 2007 we are still waiting to be adjudicated / approved....It is a long wait and there is no need for it but i guess USCIS get thousands of applications a year but they do need to be dealing with married couples much faster!

I have not seen my husband in over 9 months so not being able to visit eachother makes it very hard to get through the distance, saying that we make it work...internet ...phone calls....i know to live our lives the right way as a married couple we should be together smile.gif

The wait is still on for Jeff and i hoping we get approved soon smile.gif

Hang in there smile.gif

We have Congress enquiring our case status and beleive me they do have direct e-mail address to enquire at Vermont Service Centre on any USC case so we are hoping to hear news this week ....we only asked for help on wednesday last week.

Good luck and let us know how it goes smile.gif
