United KingdomContacting Embassy
Hey guys I was told by NVC today that our application was sent to the London embassy 2 days ago now so i'm hoping they might have it. How do I check to see if they have received it? To phone costs a fair bit, do you guys recommend e-mailing them? or will I just have to bite the bullet and phone them?

Cheers,

United KingdomAnyone have the Packet 3 stuff from NichNick?
Nich-Nick can you please e-mail me a copy also. I appreciate you have had a lot of requests but I called NCV yesterday now and they received our application on October 6th. The woman I spoke to said it would probably take 5 working days to process and send to the London Embassy so we will hopefully get packet 3 soon. I really want to be prepared for this and have everything ready to submit immediately.

my email is stuart.morrison@live.com which is a microsoft windows account so should be ok and avoid the problems others have been having.

Your help is more appreciated than you'll ever know,

Stuart good.gif

A Scottish-American baby. I can't wait til Courtney and I have our own, hopefully in a few years time. Where are both you guys going in the US? I'm heading to a town called Montrose jest.gif in Western Colorado. I move over 4000 miles and end up in a town with a Scottish name. too funny.

So even though we're still waiting on the NOA2, I was looking over the Packet 3 materials (thanks Nichole and Jason!) and noticed that they ask if the beneficiary has ever "misused or abused" drugs. Not trying to get anyone into trouble here (this is purely hypothetical--seriously!), but I'm curious as to how people have responded in the past. Would recreational drug use mean anything? I know the best policy is to always tell the truth, but this seems kind of tricky...

VS, just to make this absolutely clear, only a complete and utter spazzmong would admit to being a user (unless, as Nich says, it's legally documented somewhere). It's akin to ticking the "Yes" box on the VWP form when asked if you were anything to do with the genocide of Nazi germany between 1933 - 1945.

Just tick "no", don't turn up for the interview wasted, and you'll be just fine.

Ha ha chuckled to myself at this reply but totally agree. I wonder if anybody has ever ticked the box on the VWP form to do with genocide by Nazi Germany??

Back to the topic if it were me I would not mention recreational use in the past and if anyone out there does use every 'now and then' i would suggest staying clean at least 6 months prior to any medical or interview.

Good luck to all, i've got my medical on October 28th. Can't wait!!

Just thought i'd let you guys know I received my packet 3 today kicking.gif which thankfully did contain all the correct documents as Nich-Nik suggested. They must have just made a mistake with yours Magpie, thankfully you managed to get it sorted with the fantastic help of Nich-Nik.

So my medical is now scheduled for October 28th, only 12 days away! My first of 2 trips to London. Im hopefully mailing back packet 3 to London tomorrow so fingers crossed i'll receive packet 4 soon.

Very best of luck to you too magpie and knight good.gif

United KingdomApparently missing documents in Packet 3
Knight when they mention bring the documents to the Interview in packet 3 what they mean is when you send back your checklist conatined in packet 3 that they are making sire you have all the required documents they require. Once they know you have all the documents and are ready they then send packet 4 which contains your interview date. Then when you go to the Interview you take all the original copies of the documentation asked for in packet 3. Packet 3 is basically just to make sure you are ready for the interview before they schedule an appointment so they dont have people cancelling as they arn't ready yet. As soon as you receive packet 3 you can book your medical too. The results of which are sent straight to the embassy ready for your interview.

In relation to the missing documents i've seen people on here who have scanned the full packet 3 onto their computer and have been more than willing to share with others, Nich&Nick for one. I'm sure someone will help you out with all the documents required for packet 3.

Hope this explained a little for you and I wish you both the best of luck

Heya!

I had a similar problem -- my fiance posted in another topic. I only have the IV-18a medical forms and nothing else. There was a mention of what I have to take with me to the interview, but it doesn't give a date or anything.

Now I have a plethora of questions:

First, what forms do I need to download?

Secondly, where on earth can I find them?

It doesn't outline what I have to mail back to them, and it says on the document that I shouldn't mail certain things to the Embassy. Please assist!

Magpie.

Magpie,

Check out my answers on Knights post and see if that helps you,

hope so!

Well guys, 'cause I can't travel until my degree's done, I sadly have to delay until May crying.gif but! time will probably fly, and I'll be sending off the forms to them over the next few weeks.

Eeeeee! Thanks for the support.

Magpie.

/edit

Ooh. Well, let me think...it took maybe about two weeks to get the P3 after Knight received the approval letter. I was checking daily =P.

That sucks about having to delay that long. I'm going to have to wait about a month I think after getting my visa in hand before travelling to the US and I think that's going to be hard but to delay upto 6 months that's going to be rough. Make sure to travel as much as you can! In the long term I guess the benefits of having the degree and securing a better job far outweighs the benefits of leaving sooner. Good luck to both of you

Yes I did, Steven already had his tax returns etc and just had to Notarise his I-134, I also had the police certificate etc; so to save time I sent it all back before I actually had everything (in my own two hands) that they needed.

Sounds like you both have a competant Lawyer also!, usually competant Lawyers are a pain the ####### to find.

Competant lawyer hmm I think the lawyer is acting on what I send her in my e-mails ha ha and the only reason I know what roughly to do is because of VJ which I cannot praise enough. The site itself is easy to use and the people who are on it are nothing short of brilliant.

I think I will send back my packet 3 as well without the actual I-134. Im guessing my interview would not be for another 3 or 4 weeks minimum anyway so I should have plenty time to get the stuff from Courtney and her dad.

Awesome news Stuart!, London are quite quick with dates they certainly didn't give me time to plan how I was getting there !.

You have all your financial mumbo-jumbo for the interview I gather? Steven had to rush mines threw the mail I was so worried I wouldnt get it before the interview!.

Congratulations!, it all flies in now!

Thanks very much. Yeah i now need to plan 2 trips to London but hey its definitely worth it. All i'm waiting on is the I-134 affidavid of support from Courtney and her dad who is co-signing. They have sent all the information to our lawyer in Denver who is putting everything together, sending it back to Courtney and her dad to sign then send to me here in Scotland. Hopefully this won't take too long.

Did you send back the packet 3 stuff before you physically had everything you needed for the interview?
