I have my interview on Monday now, can't believe after all this waiting it's finally this close! Anyone got any good advice for the interview? How much information do you think is too much information to take with me to the interview? i'm looking at all my documents, emails, photos and other evidence and my packet is huge (for my visa tongue.gif).

I'm honestly so excited to fly to London on Sunday and cannot wait for Monday to walk to the embassy!

hey guys just to let you all know I have my interview now on November 10th woo hoo i'm so excited. I sent an e-mail to the embassy a few days ago asking if they could notify me of my interview date so I could make arrangements for Courtney to fly over and come to the interview with me and got the usual reply that they deleted my e-mail without reading it. Today I got a reply from the embassy letting me know my interview is on Monday 10th November 2008.

So add me to the list for November Interviews kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

Hey guys I don't have my interview date yet but was told by NVC today that our application was sent to the London embassy 2 days ago now so i'm hoping they might have it. How do I check to see if they have received it? To phone costs a fair bit, do you guys recommend e-mailing them?

Hopefully I will have my name added to the list for London Interview's soon!

Good luck to everyone

So Mark had the interview this morning. He got there really early and was the first one called back for the K-1. The lady said she was pleased he had all the paperwork in order and after about an hour he was walking out approved. He said she asked a few questions like how did we meet, how long have we been together, has he ever been here. Stuff like that.
After the interview and everything was approved she sent him to another area where he was asked how he would like his visa back, his options were date ranging from next day to 5 days (the sooner the return the more expensive) The visa would have to be signed for and Mark set it for next day after noon so he will be staying home tomorrow to wait for it to show up.
This Saturday he will fly home and we will finally be able to be a family. Our wedding is set for October 15 (has been for over a year now so this was a true blessing that it was approved, we were worried we would have to either not get legally married and only have the cermony until we did get an interview or get legally married and file a K-3.
I still cant get over that everything went ok, I have been so nervous lately that I can hardly function.
Hope everything goes well for all of you guys
hugs

and in a MOST annoying (and scarily relevant) follow-up to my comment above, I got pulled over this morning (speeding blush.gif ), and in addition to the speeding ticket, which I accept fair and square, the officer tacked on a 'failure to obtain license in thirty days' charge mad.gif

I told him it was a year, and that I'd looked it up, but he didn't believe me... I've since looked it up again, and the thirty days thing applies to US residents moving from another state, but I was right - people with a valid international license can drive a private car in the state of Texas for up to one year after moving there, without needing to switch to a Texas driver's license, as long as their home country has reciprocity with the US (which Australia does)

so I would advise people acting on the information they find to print off said information, and keep it in the glove compartment, so that they can deal with people who only know part of the law biggrin.gif

That sucks about the speeding. At least you know your rights and will be able to fight the lincence discrepency charge. Not a good day then sad.gif

The average winter snowfall is around 100 inches I think but don't quote me. Last season we had snow on the ground from mid November to late April. And I don't mean a sprinkle...we were quite a few feet under by the time Christmas rolled around. The season before was pretty rough with a record snowfall of 31 inches in 24 hours. Often snow doesn't really settle until December but frosts start from the odd one in August until April! Southern VT is milder but still pretty damn cold and still loads of snow. We get a few odd crazy winters where the low temperature would be a solid -20c low for a few weeks and barely getting to -10c high. Coldest it hits is around -30c which is crazy nose icicle time. I don't mind the amount of snow, and if you dress right the cold is OK, but the ice is a nightmare. If you want 4 seasons you do get them in VT but winter in the dominant one. Spring is muddy and often wet. Summer can be beautiful but can also be wet like this year, and fall is never long enough. It just gets too cold too early for my liking!

Here is our car after the record snow. The car arial is on the left sticking out of the drift!

Wow - that is amazing!!! Doesn't that completely trash your car?!?! I think that much snow is a little beyond building snowmen laughing.gif

Stuart/Courtney - what is the weather/climate like where you are moving to in CO? It is one of the States that Jeremy always wanted to move to but I have never been there biggrin.gif This is really fun finding out first hand about all the different States - there is only so much information you can get from generalised stats online biggrin.gif

Courtney Lives there already with her family. It really depends in Colorado where you go as to what the weather is like. We will be living to start with in Montrose Co which is on the western side of the Rockies. Nearest mountains are the San Juan's which are stunning. Montrose gets snow late October or November I believe and gets most of its Snow like most places in Jan and Feb where they can get upto 10-12". I also believe they get about 300 days of sunshine a year. perfect! Nearest ski resort is telluride about 45 minutes away. Again this place is brilliant. Denver and Salt lake City (Utah) are both about 5 hour drives away. Pheonix as well isn't too far in American Terms.

Colorado as a whole is a beautiful state for me. Lots of sports and activities and lots of gorgeous little towns with bigger cities too. Couldn't think of a better place to stay and hopefully raise a family smile.gif

I'm sure wherever you guys will choose will be a great place to live. Keep us all updated where you decide.

Good luck good.gif

Yay! Thanks for the review Maven - I am collating all information so I can shortlist a few places - there are so many options it is an arduous task which is why I am starting now! Plus it gives me something to do biggrin.gif

You are welcome to ask me anything about VT as I pretty much know the whole state by now. We got over 150 inches of snow last winter in central VT so if you can stand a six month winter, it could be the place for you. wink.gif Really stunning fall colors this year. I'd like to say that evens it out, but it doesn't quite cut it!

Wow - that is a lot of snow!!! Is that just in central VT? Or do you get less snow in other areas? Three months of snow/winter sounds good but six months would be a bit of a climate change from the desert!! laughing.gif I don't even know how I will cope going back to the UK!!! laughing.gif

I totally agree. One of the most amazing things about Colorado is the beautiful 4 seasons. In Scotland we only get one season, the wet and windy season laughing.gif so I can't wait to have lots and lots of snow in the winter, 100' in the summer and sunny spring and autumn.

But like most people on here it doesn't matter where I move to in America, I just can't wait to be with Courtney for good luv.gif

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMedical & Interview
Hey my name is Stuart and I also live in Scotland and going through the K1 process to be with my fiance Courtney in Colorado. I will also be going through the London embassy so am interested to see the response you get from your recent post. We got our NOA1 on June 3rd so hopefully will get our NAO2 in the next 4-6 weeks.

Any help or assistance you could give with the packets you received would be gratefully appreciated. What comes in packets 1, 2 and 3?

From my understanding so far of the medical in London you can arrange for it to be the same day as your interview but this means there might be a delay of about a week in receiving your visa. If you schedule your medical for approximately 3 weeks prior to interview date then they already have the results so your visa get processed there and then. Can anybody out there verify this please?

Good luck to both of you and I wish you all the best for the future.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHelp please
Hi there i'm sorry if this is the wrong forum for this question but I couldn't find the closest topic.

I currently have my green card which still has the conditions attached as I've only had it for just over a year. Do I still need to notify the USCIS when I change address. I moved a few months ago and didn't think anything about it but am now wandering wether I am required to notify them of my change of address.

Any help is really appreciated.

Many thanks,

Stuart Morrison.

He all,

I am about to file to have my condition removed on my green card. I'm sure I have everything I need to send but I thought I read on the USCIS website that I also needed to send in fingerprints? Am I worrying myself needlessly as I would believe that is what would be recorded and taken when I get my biometrics appointment after I submit the I-751.

Any thoughts please?
