K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCheque not yet cashed
It is strange they sent you a receipt but haven't cashed the cheque...I thought that was the whole point of the receipt!
We had our whole packet sent back as well as my fiance sent a cheque with his old address on it doh...but they sent the cheque back as well

Sorry not quite sure what to suggest, maybe someone with more experience on here will be more helpful

(They took about 9 days to cash our cheque)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTips for not getting turned away for a visit?
You'll be fine, your fiance seems to have more than enough evidence of strong ties to the UK :-)

Like Gemmie said, he shouldn't supply the evidence unless asked for it. Have heard other people on here say that the Immigration Officer didn't mention the visa at all, so I guess it all depends on who you get.
And stay calm, although that can be easier said than done!

Unfortunately I'm self-employed and living at home at the mo so I'm not even going to try to visit!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMisdemeanor
I was a bit worried about that as well...my fiance is the USC and he has a couple of misdemeanors from a few years ago...
But I have a totally clean record, so I think that's what they're most interested in :innocent:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPassports Taken After Interview
After an approved interview, the embassy will always keep the passport (your visa won't get attached to the passport there & then) then it is returned to you by a courier, which you pay for on the day...

I don't have any knowledge of AAP I'm afraid, I'm sure someone on here with more experience will know.

However it seems like he'll have to wait and be called back into the embassy...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresjust got my NOA2 email. Just want to check i have the next step right

Am I right in thinking that when you have the medical, the cost is £200. Also I have been informed that $350 has to be paid BEFORE your interview. Can someone shed some light onto this please. How can you pay the $350 before the interview. Can it be done over the phone with a debit card, or does it have to be sent before?
Thanks in anticipation
Dave :)

Hey Dave, yep you do have to pay over the phone before the interview... And the call costs £1.20 a minute!! :bonk:
The phone no is on the London embassy website, or you can find it in the London embassy discussion that's in the UK forum.
Apparently you can pay for it any time after you receive your London case no. They'll then send you a receipt that you have to take with you to your interview.

I just got my email NOA2 last Thurs and am also trying to get my head around everything that's coming up...My head's buzzing with about 500 pieces of info right now...!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresjust got my NOA2 email. Just want to check i have the next step right
Congratulations!! I woke up in the UK this morning to the same email woo hoo!!
I screamed so loud my mum ran up the stairs thinking I'd had a heart attack or something lol!!

Now for the next steps...

Re your second point, you're right in thinking you can schedule the medical after calling the DOS for the LDN case no, but make sure that the embassy has logged your case into their system as well so all the paperwork lines up. If you're too quick off the mark and the medical results turn up before you're in the system it could get a bit complicated...

Can't wait for my US fiance to wake up so I can tell him!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInterview Problem
I'm in exactly the same position as you lol!! Are you finding that things are going a lot quicker since the NOA2??!
I'm still in a dilemma as to whether to make a 'new' I-129F packet. As Nich-Nick said, there is no mention of it on the embassy website, and I've never seen any reviewers mentionthat were asked for it. Also I can't remember the exact date that I put on all the forms...
But still I can't quite shake it off..!

I'm def making a copy of packet 3 to take to the interview as I did read about the embassy misplacing it once but luckily the guy at the interview took a spare set with him.

Congrats on your NOA2 :-)
Check out Sundrop's thread on the UK forum, it pretty much covers everything. I've been referring to it on an almost daily basis lol

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFlight isn't nonstop... Problem?
I'm moving to the states in 2 weeks and Chicago will be my POE as well. My final destination is Michigan so I've always got my connecting flight there. The queue can be long....I got a flight that gives me a 4 hr layover just in case.
On one occasion I was through immigration in 45 mins, the next time it was nearly 2 hrs, same time of day.
Personally I wouldn't want to risk it, it's not worth the stress...
We might be taken to the secondary area, it all depends on the officer you get.

So exciting though, right?! I can't wait

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresmarriage certificate applications once arrived
Does your county clerk state that you both have to be there in person to apply for the marriage license?
In our county (West MI) only one person need apply in person, as long as you have some photo ID from your intending spouse. We were told we would need to apply at least 2 weeks before our wedding date, and did so, but in the end it was ready in only 3 days.
I know that is does vary though from county to county, never mind what state you're in. It feels a bit over-complicated sometimes..!

Unfortunately no, you're K1 visa will not count
