I just got a text message after work to say my visa will be delivered on Monday 4th Aug , by sms courier service. I feel only now i can take a deep breath and relax , and actually talk about it! My interview was on 7th July , and although the guy said i was approved sending in W2 and 1040 ,which my SO posted to me on the same day (god love him). Then they sent back a DS 156 to be signed which i think i was meant to sign in front of one of the interview officers?? I just couldnt be happy about it , was anyone else unconvinced it was actually happening until the received that little but very important thing in their passport?? I have seen so many emotional sides to me i never thought existed! So..... now i have until 4th Sept to get myself sorted , oh and little matter of a going away party to organise! AND YOUR ALL INVITED! BECAUSE WITHOUT THE SUPPORT OF ALL YOU GUYS I THINK I COULD HAVE WENT MAD! (MAYBE I DID A LITTLE)! I wish we could all get our approvals now....but still...feels kinda cool completing the next coloumn in the spreadsheet. Yey! my estimated date has gone from 7th nov to 4th nov (when I first started out it was 5th Oct ) I've noticed the may filers making progress slowly. Will be interesting to see if there is a lower than average august filing rate due to everyone rushing to beat fees, if there is maybe things will start balancing out again. I've not seen an August filer thread! I'm hoping for a feb interview date and a march arrival. I don't think thats TOO unrealistic! What the hell has happened? Has everyone gone on holiday at once, has there been a mass exodus of staff. Don't they understand it's peoples lives they are playing with.....guess not, we are just numbers and pieces of paper that inconvience them between the morning and evening commute! On a happier note I found out today I might be getting a nice bonus from work.....and whilst some people at work saying, new clothes, new furniture, payment towards new car....... Anyone fancy checking out some of my work you can HERE I'm winding the business down now and managed to get a part time reception job on £10 an hour at a law firm to supplement income until I can head over. I actually had great fun trying to explain US immigration to one of the partners in the law firm. Geordielover...we have the opposite problem....my parents here in scotland (my dad is from Jesmond by the way and I have lots of family there) are the ones that keep trying to talk me out of going. Nicks parents are great support. My parents are stressed about our age difference which is no biggy for us....I'm 26, Nick is coming up for 21. (my toyboy). I have very conservative parents who still haven't given up moaning that I went to art school to persue an art and photographic career (not a real degree or job apparently). The journey is going to be long, all you VSC-ers pity us CSC-ers, it will be even longer for us. Some May VSC-ers have started getting NOA2's. Still hovering around 12-20th april for CSC. The thing that gets me is that I really wouldn't mind the waiting if everything was 100% guarenteed at the end. It's the fact that you can go through all this and there is still a chance, for some reason, that someone behind a sheet of glass in london can say no! it could all be for nothing. Sorry....spot the person on the downer! I hate things being out of my control, I hate things being out of place, I hate uncertainty.........so you can see how this visa stuff gonna really test the limits of my sanity! I'm one of lifes organisers and I'm a tidy freak, I hate mess! I'm also incredibly impatient! My cat staying here. she too old and timid to travel. It would be much better for her here...she is going to live out her twighlight year in the scottish countryside with people she knows. Will miss her like mad but it's the kindest thing for her. I have been told that it's not TOO likely to result in anything for initial petition it's when it gets to interview stage that they get really picky about the photos. Thankfully there is somewhere here in Glasgow that will do them, I just need to find it!!!! I'm holding myself back and I only check every 2 or 3 days but I'm still here everyday. Regards to accents......yeah I've found myself saying pants more intead of trousers also I say purse instead of handbag. Nick says wee occaisionally. The biggest things that cause hilarity for us are the simple ones like tomato and aluminium! I remember one time here we drove past faslane325 (the anti-nuke (and very smelly) peace camp) and he came out with "god damn hippies" that was it...I cracked up, tears streaming down my face whilst trying to drive! The other thing is as I speak a wee bitty gaelic I keep getting asked whilst I'm over there to just say something....I never know what to say! gonlaz....checked out your pics too....so sweet.
