Well Nick LOVES haggis! So glad, means he'll help me track it down when I move to NE. He doesn't like whisky though, prefers JD and coke.

Got a couple of friends coming over tonight for cocktails (using up my spirit cabinet). Nicks last Saturday night in scotland before he heads home to NE. Mojitos and margaritas aplenty tonight.

I yearn for the mild winters of Scotland.... It is so cold here and more snow than anyone could ever want.... I have become very good friends with our Snow shovel and its only just December....

And then we have the Hot hummid spells in the summer when I long for a good blast of cool Scottish air....

Oh well looks like I had better get used to it.... but it does seem odd to be planning a winter trip to Scotland because it is warmer there and will be nice to get away from the cold....... laughing.gif laughing.gif laughing.gif

right now it's the wind....been blowing a gale here most of the day....my gate blew off at lunchtime! I just left it though, had bad reaction to MMR jag earlier today......sick as a dog!!!!

You can buy Christmas pud in the USA. After the advice given on here we got two yesterday.

You can get a lot of Brit goods at CostPlus world market...they seem to specialize in biscuits and candy for Brit food though. I found spotted ####### there yesterday...

To the Scot getting married to the Nebraskan...I'm from Lincoln Nebraska myself. All of my family and most of my friends are still back there. Hopefully the Husker hype won't scare you :-p

But there is a World Market in Omaha. I don't think there is anyplace in Lincoln that has Brit goods tho.

That will be me then!!! I'm heading to Grand Island. I'm going to miss my irn-bru, haggis and arran blue cheese. Infact, think I might go grab some arran blue and oatcakes now.
His family thought it was hilarious when my reaction to them talking about tornados was "what as in toto I don't think we're in kansas anymore?"

Anyways, wee question...what do you do about your UK driving licence?

United KingdomAdministrative Process at NVC
Any other UK-ers had this. I just found out today our file is in administrative Process at NVC. Woman I spoke to told me that it was for security checks and clearances. I asked if she could give me ANY guide at all as to timescales and she just said if no glitches a week or 2. If any glitches could take months.

What are others NVC experiences?

Feel so low because of this.

United KingdomMedical Info for London
QUOTE (florida scot @ Dec 11 2007, 01:19 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi

Is it true that my son can call for a medical in London before he gets his letter.

I just found out today from NVC he has a January 4th interview.

He lives 400 miles from london and i dont have time wait on the letter from the consulate as his interview is in 3 weeks.

Can someone please post info on the doctors if this is true.

Telephone numbers, Web Pages etc

Thanks

oooo I know all about the travelling, I'm in Renfrewshire. I've just booked mine today and all I have is my LND number and a promise that my file is between NVC and london....so yeah, go for it.

I have been looking through threads and probably missed what I need to know. I read on the knightsbridge Dr's website that you need to take your embassy appointment letter with you. What happens if you have'nt recieved interview date?

I'm planning on booking medical as soon as possible after getting packet 3 and I'm worried that I won't have recieved interview date.

Does anyone know if there is a way we can check the progress of our files once they get to the embassy, other than calling?

call DOS...even though it's international it's still cheaper than embassy. Got that hint from nice guy at DOS. They can tell you anything the embassy can.

I've just said "see you later" to Nick. After him being here 6 months he's off home to get a job doing anything he can just to show willingness to work (got good decent co-sponsor lined up + arund $12K to transfer to Nicks account). To say I feel miserable is an understatement, so used to having him around for so long, it's so empty and quiet without him.

I'm hoping for a feb interview or early march. I'm hoping to be able to go over mid march. Still no sign of packet 3 and having no luck getting through to NVC but I know it's only 3 weeks since NOA2. Hoping to packet 3 returned by xmas or just after.
