United KingdomPhew! Finally got here ....
Hi All

Just wanted to introduce myself and say hello to all fellow UKers.

I'm in Falkirk, Scotland and my fiance is in Coralville Iowa. We've been together for two years and hoping to get the
I-129F petition sent off late September when my divorce becomes final.

I've been following the postings on the K1 forum for two or three months but have just recently found this little gold mine of information!

Just thought I'd warn you that I will have lots and lots of questions over the coming weeks ... smile.gif

I prefer Six Flags, but Adventureland is fun too! tongue.gif

I agree about the commercials lol. The one that gets me singing along is "Smulekoff's .. downtown Cedar Rapids!"

We just got back from a week's vacation in the Wisconsin Dells and Door County. We had a great day at Noah's Ark Waterpark - thoroughly recommend it - the Black Anaconda ride was AMAZING!!

Never been to Six Flags, but am just about to Google it lol ... biggrin.gif

Yep, a photo of the two of you will be all that is likely to be needed.

Not in the initial petition, no. Primary evidence, i.e. boarding passes, passport stamps, are more important.

B&W copies are fine. smile.gif

Yes, I'm copying boarding passes and all pages of both our passports to show that we've visited each other several times in the last two years.

I also have lots of pictures of us together at various sites - Wrigley Field, Sears Tower, Adventureland, Stirling Castle, Washington Island - they all have the location showing in some way or another so hopefully that will be enough. I'll be including pics of us both with each others families too ....

Also including hotel receipt with both our names on it for my fiance's most recent visit to Scotland. I also have bank and credit card statments showing purchases at some of the locations above and general purchases in Iowa along with corresponding receipts from the stores .. Just trying to think of everything lol ....

Thanks for your replies .. very much appreciated!

I haven't seen Perfect Strangers .. it was the chance of getting our pic taken with the big cuddly bear outside the park that did it for me!

I certainly had a fun-filled day at Adventureland - I spend most of the day walking around soaked because of the water rides .. but it was certainly an experience. A bonus was that the pic we had taken on one of the rides has ADVENTURELAND written along the bottom ... never enough proof right? laughing.gif

I'm planning on photocopying boarding passes and both passports to include in the I-129F Petition tomorrow.

Is is a good idea to copy in colour or doesn't it matter either way?

Hi, I have a British Passport that I want to get renewed - I have 7 months left on it, my question is (and forgive me if this is stupid!) but do I fill out the form with my married name? and address here in the states? its just the form is prepared for people living in Britian. I assume I would send my marriage certificate in as well, also, can I submit photocopies of birth cert and marriage cert?

If anyone else has gone through this process I would appreciate your help smile.gif I am planning a trip back to Scotland in Aug/Sep this year smile.gif

Thank you in advance!!

Oh I'm sorry you are still waiting so long lovely. Did we establish whether or not one had actually been sent yet? If we know it is processed/issued but lost in the mail maybe you could just bypass it if you have your receipt number from DoS or NVC? Is there actually anything in P3 that you need to return....anyone? If not you could just download the forms and send them back and we can just pretend that you have had P3?

I hope that you get a solution soon hun. Maybe constant harassment is the way forward. Instead of sending another email maybe write them a letter and send it royal mail next day 9am ?

Good Luck

I'm in Ayrshire, Scotland where it rains all the time, but the scenery is stunning. My beloved lives in Martin County, Florida, where I plan to join him at the beginning of September, as we're at the point of waiting for an interview date. Can't believe it'll have taken us a year to finally get to live as husband and wife.

United KingdomObtaining US passport photos
Hi

I did mine at home. I had the picture taken with a normal digital camera and then printed them out on photo paper. Just cut them to size. I sent two in with the DS-230 to the the NVC and got one of them back at the interview.

No need for expensive processing. As long as the picture is clear enough for them to digitally print it onto your visa it will be fine.

United KingdomUK postal scam
Folk may already be aware of this but I thought I'd share it on here as I know many of us will be waiting on important documents via our delightful royal mail. There is a postal scam at the moment (low tech version of email, call this number, scam.)

A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number). DO NOT
call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize.

If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £15 for the phone call.

If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 02072396655 or ICSTIS (the premium rate service regulator) at www.icstis.org.uk

This is similar to a scam at the start of the year in teeside area but this is UK wide.

United Kingdomvaccination question
Thanks. I was worried I was reading it wrong or mis-understanding. I'd read threads on here before about people getting 5 or 6 different shots.

Well round one of shots (MMR part 1 and TD) commences on thurs 6th dec just after dropping nick at airport to go back to NE (so I'll be both sore and miserable!) with second MMR dose beginning jan. Apparently 3 weeks after 2nd dose you may feel lethargic and have flu like symtoms....GREAT...my b'day is 3 weeks later!!!!!!!!!! Going to do bloodtest for me at 1st one too.

United Kingdomvaccination question
OK spent over an hour today chasing my Dr's who have managed to LOSE my childhood vaccination records, I had polio drops, BCG(TB) and meningitis in high school which they have found. So the way I read the vaccination chart the only ones I need to get are TD and MMR (and bloodtest for varicella for AOS) is this correct? I'm 26 by the way.

I also had tetanus in highschool as I remember being very unwell afterwards but they have managed to lose that one

I contacted the my loan people back in August and explained my situation. They agreed to let me use my savings and just clear it (thankfully I had enough as I'd been saving to get on property ladder here) as I think it's just as much hassel for them if you need to pay them from overseas.
