United KingdomUS Entry on Saturday
They will certainly question you further, I was asked how I got my money, who paid for my trip and asked to provide proof I was a fulltime student, I had my student cards that seemed to be enough to convince them I would be returning home. I also provided my previous student card to show I was completing a 3 year course. When I mentioned I was studying Childcare I was asked to explain what that was, that was very strange!

Like bakofoil said be confident with your answers , dont get caught up in a conversation if he/she asks you something give them the answer. You will be absolutely fine Gemmie, you have plenty of evidence showing you will return home. I would personally say 'Boyfriend' I was also asked if we were going to get married.

Do they keep you on file? your fingerprints & Photograph? I have always wondered that.

United KingdomThe United States of America - my thoughts so far
In Glasgow there is certainly a large'ish catholic protesant divide, but only around Ibrox & Parkhead stadium and for whatever reason related to football (the Auld firm to be precise). Glasgow city center (which is where most tourists would go) is very nice and I have never come across anything anti-catholic.

The trains are also very good, I have never had to stand making plenty trips between Glasgow & Edinburgh and down to London, this again goes back to the fact you haven't been here in almost ten years.

In the US you certainly get more for your money going out to a restaraunt.

United KingdomWho all got emailed their interview date?!
I never recieved an email either.

Is it possible this person emailed the London Embassy to ask if they had an interview date yet? , I would reckon if they already have you scheduled for one and you emailed them, they would email you saying "you have an interview scheduled for blah de blah", Infact I recall someone saying that somewhere.

United KingdomHPV question
I have heard alot of people say it is cheaper in the USA, Knightsbridge also told me it would be cheaper in the USA, remember you dont need the HPV vaccine to get your visa, you only need it to apply for AOS.

I would advise you to have a quick scope around some Clinics in the USA, I was quoted $120 .

United KingdomDetails, details, details
You can take house keys, only no computer keys.

You can take watches (it will be put in the little baggy).

I was a 10am appointment was there at 9am, lined up about 9.30am, it can take a little while to get into the building depending on que size etc;.

They give originals back at the interview.

That sounds plenty, I took a folder full and the lady never asked me for a thing, and we have an age gap which may have raised a little doubt.

Goodluck, it sounds like you are in Tip Top condition!.

United KingdomVisiting UK with baby, but both have dif. p/ports and names
I dont have any experience with this but thought since no one has replied yet I would give you my opinion.

I was enquiring about having my british passport in my maiden name after I was married, seemes that as long as you have your marriage certificate all should be fine, I would say dont take any chances and get a letter from the father (just in case) your marriage certificate maybe the babies birth certificate also? (though I dont think they give out the full ones there do they?) and if they question you at either POE tell them you married on a K1 Visa.

Since you havent given up your British nationality you are perfectly able to use a US & UK passport (when AOS is completed) .

It may be a good idea to check with the British Embassy on this one, to get better advice.

I would take them, purely because they fill out that other form DS-3025 (thanks English muffin, forgot what that was lol ) using your vaccination records, the first lady also asked if I had chickenpox before and noted that I didnt need the Varicella on that form.Woohoo!

Congrats on the medical, you are almost done with the K1 journey!

Hey Susie.

My Visa was approved pending medical results I noticed that London sent my Visa out the day they recieved the Medical results (which was a week later) and I got it the next day, impressive considering I am in Scotland.

United KingdomAdditional info for Affidavit of Support?
I had all the basics for Stevens I-134 at my interview she gave me back his W2's , asked sepcifically for his tax transcripts and his letter from employer (as she wanted to know how much he made) , we didnt have bank statements.

someone correct me if I am wrong but you sound absolutely fine, assuming you aren't claiming on only assets, property etc; and make over the guideline (which by the way is 100%, so even better you are 125% like we were) they will only take employer letters & tax transcripts.

We took a Co-sponser just because we had extra time, didn't even bother showing it to the lady.

United KingdomU.S. Takes First Steps Toward Embassy Relocation
I quite liked the location, Just across the road you had the Canadian embassy and a lot of others, pfft, England is England, we would still have to travel a fair distance to get there.

I wonder if they have any plans on what to build in the existing area when the building moves.

United KingdomTiming- getting the passport back
I have never had a reply to an email sent to London. EXCEPT for when they gave me a code, and I did not get the "your message has been deleted blahblah"/ I also called the courier to add my mobile number, although I couldn't find the proper number on the form they transferred me to the Couriers in the Embassy. All I can think of is that they changed policies on that or something?.

If London cant help you Lancer then I would certainly try calling the courier with the reference number,or even do both. Just for your information this is the email I recieved.

Embassy records show that your visa was issued on September 18. Have you contacted SMS couriers to find out when your passport and visa package are due to be delivered? SMS can be contacted on 08709 501 760.

Thank you for your e-mail correspondence.

United KingdomTiming- getting the passport back
I also called London they gave me the code and replied telling me my Visa was sent out.

I paid for delivery before Noon, I had no text from them, no delivery before noon, the delivery man didnt even ask for ID lol.

What tracking number do you mean? You get your reference number when you pay at the embassy, it is on the piece of paper, no one leaves without it (atleast not that I saw).

Its strange , I told them my travel date was 'November' and look at when my interview date was.

United KingdomHow is the K1 Visa delivered?
Hi Scarlett,

They use a Courier and they do inform you that if the Visa applicant is not the one recieving the Visa (they are out and have someone else waiting for it) they will need ID, a bank card. I was asked for a Signature.

You can pay extra to get an earlier delivery time, I paid for before 12 and got it an hour or so after 12, so that is not very reliable although I think you can pay to get it before 8am. My envelope says (1 day SMS).

United KingdomHELP!!
They are the best kind teehee!.

If you got married I believe your K1 visa would become invalid and you would have to cancel it (the K1 is a Fiance Visa) you would have to file for a K3 (spousel Visa) I would do some research on the K3 Visa there should be plenty information on this website about it also smile.gif .

Since you only got your NOA1 a couple weeks ago, if you both have your hearts set on marriage You are only going to lose 3 weeks or so.

Hopefully someone can give you some more concrete advice, but I would say (and this is just personal opinion) if it were me I wouldnt get married, continue with the K1 Visa and get married after I arrived in the USA . I am just saying this because even though you would only be losing a couple of weeks you have already Paid for the K1 Visa, and you would be applying for another kind of Visa taking more time and more documents!.

Most importantly, Congratulations on the wee one !!!

United Kingdomrecived packet 3...with none of its contents!
You should have gotten the medical questionaire in that package, there is also a checklist that you HAVE to send back to the embassy with your downlaoded forms, there should have been alot of (information) paperwork in that pack (although most of it is useless).

Have you managed to find copies of the checklist & Medical questionaire?

United Kingdomflights with british midland airlines
BWI is quite a popular airport, BMI are the ONLY international airline that I have seen that don't fly there, therefor there airport choices are more specific than others.

United Kingdomflights with british midland airlines
This is interesting. the only thing I dont like about BMI is don't they only fly to specific airports? just asking as I couldn't see BWI on there list.

But reading the post above that BMI was preferred over BA makes me very interested to fly with them, I for one loved BA is was comfy, so much leg room they served tea and edible food and every chair had its own personal GPS/television system.

What kind of food do they serve? thats probably my most important thing, I like it edible laughing.gif

United KingdomNeed help filling out I-134
Hi All

We're trying to get a head start on the forms required for the interview stage and are filling in the I-134. I'm hoping that filling it in now will make it easier on my SO later on in the process as he is a bit of a panicker when it comes to official forms! whistling.gif

In question 11 - it asks if you intend/do not intend to make specific contributions ... I checked the guides and found a sample form that gives the answer "N/A ( K1 visa process for permanent residence )"

I just wanted to check if anyone else had used this phrase or indeed if anyone had put anything different.

Thanks in advance .. your help is always very much appreciated!

United KingdomG-325A - Question about employment history
Hi All

I'm working on my G-325A and have a question about listing employment. I was employed full-time by the same company for 18 years up until April 2007. I then took voluntary redundancy in order to go to college.

I know I need to put "unemployed" on the G-325A for the time between April 2007 until the present date, but I want to show them that I have been in further education and haven't been sitting twiddling my thumbs!

Just looking for ideas on how best to do this ...

Thanks!

How sweet...but is she independently wealthy? Holy mackeral, Nicky and I were luckier than most where we saw eachother every 3 months or so, but every fortnight? And flying INTO Glasgow from the US isn't cheap either!

But hell, if you can do it why not biggrin.gif

Yes, a friendly POE can be wonderful!

I've visited the USA 10 times in the last two years with no more than six weeks in between most visits and was really lucky to get in this last time. The POE asked a mountain of questions and I was really beginning to think he was going to refuse me entry.

I think the fact that my fiance was waiting for me to clear immigration helped a lot. He had just visited me for a week in Scotland and we travelled back to the USA together! Maybe it was the look on his face when the POE glanced over at him several times? tongue_ss.gif

Unfortunately, because I'm not independently weathy, I won't be visiting again until the K1 comes through. I can't afford to pay $1700 for a flight and then get turned back ... but if she can do it - all good wishes and good luck to her!!

Have a great weekend everyone ...

The Iowa City-Coralville area is a really great community!
Because of the university, there is a lot of diversity and people from all over the world here (our Walmart sometimes feels like walking in to a mini UN). I hope you'll like it here. Iowa is a great and friendly place to live and raise kids. If you have any questions about the community or area, please let me know! happy.gif

Hi Ginger - I just LOVE that mall .. it's within walking distance from the apartment and I've spent many an afternoon there while my SO is at work lol yes.gif

I do know the mall general manager as I work directly with her...when you move here and get your EAP if you are looking for a job let me know and I'll see what is open in the area :-)

That is very kind of you - thank you! I'm hoping to get a secretarial job in the University hospital, but if there's nothing available when I apply then I will certainly be looking for some kind of job to keep me going ... Yankee Candle Shop would be ideal - I take deep breaths every time I pass the shop - it has the most gorgeous smell!!
