I am going threw this form just now, it askes for name of Spouse, Occupation of Spouse etc; Since I have a Fiance and not a Spouse (yet) do I just write N/A ? or fill it in anyway.

I'm guessing the questions asking about Parents are for me also.

Just need those couple answerd then I may be ready tto send all the forms back smile.gif .

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket 3 forms questions
DS-156K Has to be signed? the only place looking for a signature on that form is underneath the line saying (Do not write below this line),

Isn't it only DS-230 Part I that needs signed? I'm so confused just wanted to double check.

QUOTE (Nicoxcx @ Aug 8 2008, 07:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I also called the London Embassy yesterday to ask if they had recieved my case, he asked me for my LND# and I gave him it, he said there computers are down but because of the type of Visa it is he could access it, he also said although it wasnt entered into the system yet, its probably sitting in a pile waiting to be enterd.

So after doing this on the 8th , I recieved my packet three on the 11th (a Monday) meaning London told me they didnt have it the day AFTER they had sent out my Packet 3.

Call the DOS, we will be doing so in a couple of weeks to see if they recieved our forms.

I was on the phone for less than 5 minutes, and he answerd right away and was very nice and helpful.

but yeah 09042-450-100 is the correct number, we are considering calling DOS to, just to see if they really do have better info.

I'm not sure, I have heard it mentioned before sending money doesnt show you have a relationship , it purely shows you send someone money.

Personally I would leave that out. The only money related things we sent were Customs receipts for gifts we sent to each other, at christmas, birthdays etc;

I believe in the packet three that london sends, one of the forms they tell you to download ask about employment, what you will do when you get over there etc etc; , in my personal opinion the fact you will be supporting yourself would be a benefit, I mean, they will expect you to work eventually.

Yes they need seperate forms we are also have a co-sponser (My future father in law) even though my Fiance is above the 125% margin, and we probably will not run into issues we decided better to cover all bases.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionChanging Interview Date
Yeah I pretty much agree with Laura.

There is a space on Packet 3 that asks something about preferred interview date AND date of wedding & travel, did you fill that in? usually people use that to get a speedier interview, we didn't since we didnt have any concrete wedding plans (venue ect) we are happy to take whatever they have free.

I think if it was further away they might be more sympathetic, but with less than a month you probably have alot of people before you.

Best of luck anyway mate!

For 22- I put November and chose a random day (as it cuoldnt just be the month)

For 26- I put Permanently .

As for your last question, I dont think thats possible they put the Visa into your passport because its a K1 it is a one time entry I reckon that applies in all cases but i'm not sure.

Do Iceland participate in the Visa Waiver programme ? then you did overstay which can cause problems, but if it was a problem then you would have been questioned on it at your interview, POE should be fine as you have been granted your Visa.

I missed my flight and almost overstayed the 90 day mark luckily I caught one later that day.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionmoney involved from packet 3 on...?
Bogartnoir I would ask the same question on the Canadian section of the forum you will get a much better idea of the costs http://www.visajourn...hp?showforum=93 .

In the UK Medical exam cost me 250 pounds (about 450 canadian dollars and without any extra vaccinations) and Visa was $131 dollars, shipping also needs to be paid at the embassy, then there are travel costs to get there.

Goodluck!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket 3 Questions

Hi guys,

Most of the answers to these questions relate to UK beneficiaries, but even if you're not from the UK please see if you can help me out. Thanks in advance.... read on!

Our Fiance Visa has been progressing nicely. It's been approved from Nebraska, approved from the NVC and is now currently being processed at the US Embassy in London. But I'm unsure about some info I need to fill in the forms I was sent (I think this these are all forms in "packet 3").

The forms sent to me were the DS-230, DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157 and for some reason an I-134 Affidavit of Support. Any idea why I was sent an I-134? My fiancee's father-in-law will be her co-sponser. He earns around $44,000, plus has his own house with morgage and some small savings. I'm sure that will be enough, right? At the moment only her mom and step-dad live in the house, so with my fiancee and myself that makes 4.

I thought it would be best to download the forms and fill them in and print them off as opposed to filling them out in pen (which gets messy and is easy to make mistakes). I was unsure about how to use "Not Applicable" N/A for an answer to a question. Now it's easy to put N/A when there is only one text box for the question, but take question 14 of the DS-230 for example, this has a box for Spouces maiden name, first name, middle name, date of birth, address and so on. So should I keep putting N/A in all these boxes or just once in the very first box and leave the others blank? I've also downloaded the forms from VJ, the example ones, and was going to use those, but I have also noticed when typing in some of the boxes they are quite small and I can't type all I need to. Maybe I should leave that blank and write it in in pen after printing?

On the DS-230, question 23 wants to know all educational institutions attended, does this mean just universities? Or do I need to put where i did my GCSE's and A-Levels (anyone from the UK will know what I mean by this)? I'm not sure how to put this as there is space for only "course of study and another box for "degree or diploma", now I know you get a diploma from graduating high school in the US, but what should I put for me?

For some questions I will need to use a seperate sheet of paper, is it ok to state this in the answer box then just staple it to the back of the form and maybe have a summary sheet at the very start of the forms to show what forms and addition sheets I have sent?

The DS-156 question 2 wants to know the place of issuance of my passport, now I have no clue apart from it was in England, so should I just put Leicester as the City (thats where I live) and Leicestershire (thats my county, UK people will know what I mean) as the Province? Anyone from the UK please help with that question. Question 14 wants my National Identification Number, which I don't think I have, I think they are I.D cards and I dont have one. Anyone got one? lol... Question 22 wants the date I will be moving to the US, I think I should just put May 2007 as I'm not sure on the date exactly but it will be about then. I've put "To be determined" in the address box of where I will be staying once I move, as my fiancee and I are unsure about where we will be living when I move. Now question 29 wants to if I've visited the US before, but only has space for one visit, do I just put my most recent (11 days at the start of October 2006) or write "Please refer to seperate sheet" and write on a seperate sheet all my visits to the US (5 so far)?

Question 14 on the DS-157 form is a bit confusing. Now I've not made any travel plans yet as I don't know when I will receive my visa, so what should I put?

Wow, that took me a while to type, fingers ache now! LOL

Regards,

Phil

I've been looking over some of these forms while waiting for packet 3.
For the educational institutions and for the trips to the USA I was planning to attatch a supplementary sheet as like you I have more than a few trips to the US.
I wonder if the National Identification Number could be National Insurance number?
I would caution against not giving an address in the US as I have seen people turned back at POE for not being able to give the address they will stay at there.Passports are issued by the national passport agency, I know they used to have 4 offices, perhaps a phone call to them to ask which office issued yours.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVisa approved but curious
If you enter the USA with a K1 visa then you may not leave the country again without being granted advance parole. You can apply for this at the same time as applying to adjust status. You can only be married in the USA with a K1 visa, if you marry in her country you will have to reapply for another type of visa. The guides on this site explain it all, just click on the tab at the top where it says Guides.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPassport pictures - London Embassy

Hey there,

Just a snippet of information for Packet 3'ers in London.
3 Photos required, 1 for medical for each applicant and 2 for Visa Interview.

Snappy Snaps does the American Passport / Visa photographs whilst you wait.
Theyr'e slightly more expensive than UK ones, which figures
£8.99 for 2, so your'e looking at £18.00, or if with children like me,
better start breaking open the piggy bank!!!

x Chloe

You don't need US style pics for the medical, they told me they will accept UK style passport pic for that. I plan to save myself some money and give them a spare from my last driving licence.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVisa Interview

Hello everybody, got our interview on the 31st January in London!
Just a question does anybody know everything that is needed for the interview, would hate any delay to be my fault by not taking something.
Any help would be amazing, also how many people are actually rejected at interview stage, we have so much proof. Hoping its the final formality before I get to be with my gal!

Cheers
David

Hi David, what time is your interview? I have mine the same day at 9.30.
I'm sweating over paperwork too right now.
I have divorce papers for both of us, birth certificate for him and my adoption certificate, passport, pictures (Snappy Snaps in Marleybone High St near the doctors), I-134(with supporting documents (tax records, employers letter and bank letter), copies of NOA 1+2, copies of I-129F package, updated letter of intent, police checks aand supporting letters, all the originals of proof of meeting sent with I-129F, proof of relationship stuff (phone bills, skype screenshots of daily conversations, emails, more photographs, stuff from a joint bank account we have had for 2 years, some cards and letters we sent each other etc.
I may have missed stuff but I keep adding to the pile.
Good Luck
Maggie

Hi Maggie

Out of interest did you guys put a date for you wedding on your packet 3 checklist before you sent it back? I notice you sent in your p3 just before I did and have already got your interview date. I'm trying to work out if I'm just alone as the unfortunates who sent back p3 early Dec and still haven't received an interview date.

Hi

I did put a wedding date on my packet 3, I put March 3rd for travel and March 17th for wedding but the interview date they gave doesn't give enough time to get organised in time for that. Lucky for me those were just random dates.
I saw one person who sent in packet 3 after me and got a December interview, gave an earlier wedding date.
I think my packet 3 just missed the Christmas lull, after I fot my date I saw very little here on VJ.
If I was going to do it again I would be tempted to give an earlier wedding date though I have no right to complain about a wait of 18 weeks from filing to interview..

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMarble Arch Inn

Has anyone stayed at the Inn?...and if so..how was it?

I don't know about that one but I just stayed at the Bryanston Court Hotel, it's a bit scruffy and run down but fine for one night. Room was scruffy but clean, shower worked reasonably well, not too much traffic noise from outside and my room was at the front.
Downside, they clearly don't spend much on repairs, a window pane in my room was cracked and fixed with tape and the whole place could do with being redecorated.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was a good selection and eat as much as you like.
While I wouldn't stay there for a holiday I would use it again if I was only going to be in London overnight.
It's easy walking distance to the embassy and the staff were happy for me to leave my overnight bag there so I didn't have to drag it with me.
Rooms are cheaper if booked online Bryanston Court

They won't schedule you an interview till you send off the checklist.
When I called to schedule my medical they offered me a next day appointment.
Just get the interview date and send the checklist. If you kept copies if the packet 3 forms send them photocopies of those too. Time from me sending the checklist to interview was just over 8 weeks.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionOLD ARREST - PROBLEM?
I had a minor convoction from my past as well, I got letters from the local courts explaining there were no records as the crime was so minor ( buying a round of drinks for friends who were not all 18). I also included a letter from the Procurator Fiscal stating the same.
At the interview I provided the written evidence as well as my letters asking for information and was asked about the details which I filled in easily. I assured the consular officer I no longer drink (almost true). She was very happy to hear that. I had used the visa waiver in the past many times, I wasn't asked about that at all.
If you can get written information about your caution from the local police then take it with you. I found staff in the court in the area where I was charged were very helpful when I told them what I needed and why. I think they get a bit mushy at the idea of helping a couple in love to get married :D

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLondon courier never arrived -please help
QUOTE (Tammy&Joe @ Aug 29 2008, 11:44 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi everyone , August 23rd was the interview , it was approved , was told the visa would get delivered in a 3-5 day timeframe , today is the 5th day , and yes I counted the stupid bank holiday which was monday . We have called the courier phone all day and it repeatedly gives a voice recording then hangs up on you. We are leaving in a week to get married . I am heartbroken , and I have no idea what to do , any comments would be deeply appreciated . Please tell me what to do .

There could be a simple explanation why the passport wasn't delivered today. Maybe the courier company has drivers off sick and they need to re-arrange their schedules?? Do they actually count weekend days and the day of the interview?

If the phone number is a 24 hour line - try calling later on tonight when they might be less busy. Do they have an email address that you could try? Look the company up on the net and see if they have a "contact us" option - most firms have an option to contact them by email.

I know it's easy for me to say this, but please try not to panic. It could be delivered tomorrow ...

Wishing you luck and waiting for your post to say it's arrived!!

I posted this in the K3 forum but perhaps here would be a more appropriate place:

I just sent away for my police clearance at the beginning of the week and I'm going down to London for my medical next week. However, I was wondering if it would be wise to send packet 3 completed even though I don't have the police certificate yet and we're still putting together the I-134. I know this would speed up the process but I don't want to get caught out by getting an interview date too early.
