Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionPreparing I-751 - Forgot AR-11 and I-865
Hi All

We're getting ready to send in the I-175 mid August and I've been reading through the posts for guidance. We have moved from our original filing address twice. We moved June 2010 into another apartment (within the same building) and then bought a house and moved in at the beginning of July this year. I didn't realize that I had to notify anyone about moving house! What can I do to rectify this oversight, if anything??

Thanks in advance!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionBiometrics Interview time: how strict are they on the exact time?
I had my Biometrics appointed set for 30 Aug in Baltimore.

The time on the letter states 12:00pm.

My question is: how important is it I go at that time? I can make that time, in fact I want to go earlier so long as ill be allowed in the building and there is a chance they'll see me sooner. I wondered if there is maybe a "take a number and wait" system, and the appointment time is just generic?

Vamoai,
Only the person getting the biometrics can go. My letter actually states that nobody else is allowed to go with me (unless required for medical/mobility reasons).
My wife will be with me on the day anyway, but she'll have to wait in the car.

So, no you shouldn't plan to go even if you wanted to.

Can anyone tell me how much notice you get for your biometrics appointment?  I can't work it out from the dates maintained in this thread (unless I'm being dumb).

The pattern seems to be that your biometrics is around 4 weeks from the date of your NOA1. But when do you receive notification of your biometrics appointment date?

I'm mailing mine tomorrow.

Does anyone know how you get notified of NOA1, and more importantly the biometrics appointment? I will be out of the country for 3 weeks and suspect I may miss some mail and/or not respond in time to change it. If I get an email then great. If it's normal mail I may miss it

I received my approval notice in the mail today (not the green card) and the approval date is actually the 10th, not the 11th - I guess the email updates are a day behind! The most recent email I received said that the USPS has received my green card and I should be getting it in the mail soon

I was just wondering something - my AOS was transferred to CSC from VSC to speed everything up. Does anyone know if this has ever happened for removal of conditions? It would be nice considering people who apply through Vermont are only being approved from April, it's crazy! And not fair. I wish I lived in California. Dum USCIS. Rant over :)

Hi all, can't believe it is almost time to go through all this again!! I'm currently getting all our stuff together to file on the 16th. I'm including:

Copy of passport and greencard
Joint tax returns
Car insurances
Drivers licenses showing same address
Joint bank and stock accounts
Health insurance cards
Property deed and mortgage with both our names
Homeowners insurance
Utility bills
Lease from previous rental home
Documentation of trips (passport stamps, boarding passes and pics)
3 affidavits (although I'm not sure these are really necessary)
Family pictures

Do you think that this is enough? I'm not too worried about filing this time - it's not nearly as much of a hastle as the I-129F was!! But I do still want to do it all properly and avoid any delays and be done with USCIS!! (Well, until 10yrs) :) Again, echoing other people's thoughts - I love visajourney and don't know how I would have gotten through this whole process without it!!!

CanadaNew wrinkle with child's immigration
DO NOT enroll your child in school if they are not legally entitled to be there. You will probably get away with enrolling him, but this will come back to haunt you later in the process. I brought my daughter age 11 into the US at the start of US school session and was hauled into secondary security. I was told you cannot have your child in either public OR private school in the US if they don't have a proper visa. (I think she would have needed an F1 visa which can be used for up to a year in a school.) As it was I know my daughter will end up effectively repeating a year in school, and just wanted some time in the US.(did not mind her skipping school). We spent a bit of time learning Spanish and getting the apartment sorted for us moving there. My older daughter was settling into college then which added to the whole school confusion. I was only there for 3 weeks.

Anyways the IO was very clear the only legal way to school her was home schooling, and "if I was caught doing anything else it would be very bad for me". I can see how folk might get messed up here, but we really just wanted a holiday...... nothing else. He was also clear that she would be enrolled if I presented her at school.

You need a plan for your child that can be extended if need be. So I would suggest a chat with a lawyer to work out what you are/are not entitled to do. Having your son forever unable to visit you in the US is a bad thing. Your status being messed up is also bad. F1 visas can be got pretty fast. I did one for my older girl in 3 weeks start to finish.

Keep it legal.Just not worth it.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHere we go
Decided just to go for it and prepare and file first step...we have several months to worry about and sort out the support issue. So wish me and Nick luck.

here's a thought....does a co-sponsor need to be related,we have had offer of a friend of Nicks family being my co-sponsor as I'm actually intending on living off $7-8K worth of saving plus Nick will get job when we go back to his home town. His parents will be helping out too but as far as number cruching goes they are just under the 125% mark. Nick has 5 siblings 2 of which work but still live in the family home, would their income be added too, if so then they over the 125%
weedebzFemaleScotland2007-06-18 06:43:00
US Embassy and Consulate Discussiontax returns
Nick is here in UK so not working. He's travelling back in December and intending to start working. He has never filed a tax return as never made enough money due to only working wee part-time jobs since leaving school. Is this going to cause me a huge headache? His parents are being my co-sponsors and they have all their tax returns which list Nick up until last year as a dependant. We only just mailed out I-129f last week so we not expecting interview stage until at least Jan so he will have worked at least a few weeks by then, I know his income wont count but at least it will show he is willing and able to work. I've also read somewhere that London will take my savings into consideration too? Help I just want us to be organised for anything that USCIS or the embassy in London will throw at us. I can predict many sleepless nights over next 6-7months!!!

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionis this a bad idea
You are probably better to eat something rather than fast. As it involves a blood test you are less likely to feel faint or sick if you have eaten. It may only be a small amount of blood but if you don't eat your blood sugar can drop with the smallest of ml.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134
my advice is go down co-sponsor route. Thats what we are doing. We in basically same boat as you. Nick is here in scotland with me so not employed so we have found a co-sponsor. I'm using my savings as additional evidence of support as the london embassy is one of the very few that will take the foriegn fiance(e)s savings into consideration.
weedebzFemaleScotland2007-07-17 09:44:00
US Embassy and Consulate Discussionmore I-134 worries
ok I'm sure I read this somewhere now I can't find it.

My stress levels are through the roof. Nick (USC) is currently here in the UK with me on tourist visa therefore not working so unable to be my sponsor. We do have a co sponsor lined up so that bit is ok.

The bit that is worrying me is that he is only 20 and has never earned enough to file taxes therefore has never and I read that he needs to provide tax returns with his copy of the I-134, well he doesn't have any. We only got our NOA1 2 weeks ago so plenty of time to organise everything. Nick is going back to US in december and hopefully finding a job to show willingness to work. I am also going to have around $10-12K to take with me and a friend of his family giving us free use of her basement apartment.

All I need to know, is the fact that he hasn't filed taxes going to result in denial? What do we actually need in our case at the interview stage to satisfy that person with the power to make or break our lives that I will not become public charge?
weedebzFemaleScotland2007-07-28 11:13:00
US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHELP! Got request for tax return at interview!
see this is something I am losing sleep, hair, weight and sanity over. Nick has NEVER filed taxes as he's never made enough and as he is currently here in UK with me is not working. We are using a co-sponsor for my K1. Nick is going back to NE 6th december and getting work (anything he can find) to show willingness to work but he has no tax returns for me to produce. Up until 2005 he was listed as a dependant on his parents. I've no idea what I can produce as proof and it's causing so much stress.

I'm in almost same situation. My fiance has been here in scotland with me most of this year and has never earned enough to file taxes as was student before he came here therefore he hasn't. We too have a co-sponsor lined up.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview & Medical on same day
I was reading a post where someone had in there timeline that they had both there interview and medical on the same date, and it got me curious, what are the chances of that happening?

Having to travel from Scotland to England 2 times is a pain in the #######, but something I obviously have been saving for, but I am curious as to how many people have had both the medical & interview on the same day?.Or is it just Luck, Having to travel from one country to another , when you dont drive, is a pain in the butt! haha

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHow important are the dates?
After Bex put my mind to rest that I definetly do need the Affadivit of support, I realised I have some more general questions.

I have been informed to gather all of the forms early, now we have our NOA2 we are hoping to start on that.

My question is, How important are the dates on the letter from my fiances employer and the Affadivit of support? could my fiance get those completed just now and send them to me? or should we wait?.

I was also wondering if someone could clarify for me, he has to be making 120% above the poverty level? I'm not sure I understand this, how much would he need to be making a year to cover this?
NicoxcxFemaleScotland2008-07-26 09:59:00
US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHow much investigating do the CO's actually do?
With the amount of cases the service centers recieve I would be incredibly surprised if they investigated to that extent.

Of course that is my personal opinion.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAny UK filers- what did the embassy request from you?
QUOTE (Nich-Nick @ Aug 5 2008, 05:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It's okay to do the medical whenever you want...like schedule now. Some people do it at the same time as the interview because they live so far from London that it's not convenient to make two separate trips.

Here's the Knightsbridge doctor's page http://www.visamedicals.info/us.asp They only do the Map B location now. Phone number is 020 7486 7822

Thanks for all the info, this entire thread pretty much answerd all of my questions.

Do you think it would be okay for me to schedule the medical for the day before my Interview? I'm travelling from Scotlan dand it would be far cheaper to stay overnight in London than make two seperate journeys.

Yes, get your police certificate now they expect you to have it by packet 3 arriving to tick it off of your checklist.

All of the forms you need for the UK embassy are all online, you fill & print signing the required ones.

A link to the form.

Oh and also there are links on this site to example forms. Basically Packet 3 contains information on booking your medical, checklist and links to the forms that are online you need to fill in and print.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS-230 Part I, couple of questions
Thankyou for your quick answer.

I have now looked over the DS-156 Form, I noticed I left a question blank Number 36. 'Has Anyone Ever Filed an Immigrant Visa Petition on Your Behalf?' , This will be the only K1 petition ever filed for me, should I put 'Yes, Fiance', or no.

I am going threw this form just now, it askes for name of Spouse, Occupation of Spouse etc; Since I have a Fiance and not a Spouse (yet) do I just write N/A ? or fill it in anyway.

I'm guessing the questions asking about Parents are for me also.

Just need those couple answerd then I may be ready tto send all the forms back smile.gif .
