National Visa Center (Dept of State)How do you talk to NVC
Oh I think it is EXTREMELY frustrating but I just keep calling them and eventually I get a hold of a live person! wacko.gif

Well that is good to know then! I'm sure it's legit! smile.gif I feel much better now about sending him the money for that. Thank you! smile.gif

Oh I forgot to put on the list the translations in my last post. I won't forget those, no worries there! As for the other items I'm supposed to include, I spoke with NVC and told them that I had sent USCIS the original marriage certificate as well as my husband's original birth certificate. They told me that they would check our file and get back to me. It turns out that those things are in there so I don't have to worry about sending them again, which is nice. I'm thinking I might send copies of them though just in case with a note explaining that I spoke with an operator who checked on our file, etc.

My husband already translated the police certificate. I just have to type it up quick and then everything will be finished as far as the DS-230! Woohoo! kicking.gif

Those couriers usually drop the stuff off in Miami (usually) and then someone from here picks it up and delivers it. We use Deprisa from the Avianca airline. They drop it off in Miami and then DHL delivers it here in the US. They're pretty reliable.

Megan, don't forget to have him send you the translations of all the stuff you have to send to the NVC.

Megan, my husband's b-day is also in October so if he gets his visa we'll be going out to dinner together here in the States to celebrate!!! You just need to get that DS-230 soon so you they can close your case before the second week of September girl!

Mononoke, your 8-ball hasn't really failed ya yet lol! So good luck to you KayArt and I hope for a speedy "case complete"!

Your husband's birthday is also in October? Nice! smile.gif What a nice birthday present for our husbands! I'm sending my husband money this week or on Monday so he can send me the form. He already signed it and everything. He also got his police certificate too. smile.gif He is sending it to me by Urgent Express. Have you heard of them? I'm hoping they are legit. My husband says they are but I just don't want to send him $60 to send this form and have him get ripped off! unsure.gif

KayArt, I hope that the next message will be "Case Complete" too! Any psychic insight for KayArt, Mononoke?

Oh and I don't believe ANYTHING the NVC operators say until it actually happens. They might say that the DS-230 is going to be sent out this week, but I don't believe it. I am still trying to stay optimistic though throughout this! smile.gif

Edited to Add: Mononoke, my husband's birthday is in October so if he does have his interview then, awesome present! smile.gif

Thanks KayArt, I cannot wait to get out the DS-230! I don't like either the USCIS or NVC process BUT if I had to choose, I would probably choose the NVC. I didn't have to check a website 24/7 AND it seemed much better. The NVC sends stuff then I sent stuff, etc. etc. With the USCIS is was just waiting for the approval! On Monday though the automated system said "The Immigrant Visa Bill was received on...blah blah blah". It sure changes quickly, doesn't it?

Mononoke: Congrats again on that interview date! Much luck to you both! I talked with an NVC operator (gosh, it's hard to get to someone live lol!)...Anyways, she told me that they are sending out the DS-230 this week and I should get it in about 2 to 4 weeks. I'm thinking in the middle of September I will know when my husband's interview date is. This is so exciting! smile.gif

The affidavit is still "under review" too. The operator said to call back next week and something will probably have changed.

Congrats Megdan, that will be the last piece of doc. you need to submit.
In my case, the automated voice said missing doc. but when my husband made a follow up call the operator said it was the DS230 missing. The automated voice seems no longer announce DS230 was generated on.??????
Goodluck,
KayArt

I just called the NVC and this is what I heard on the automated system:

"The NVC is awaiting the return of the biographic forms from... the PETITIONER. Once this packet is received allow 6-8 weeks for the reviewing of all your documentation and you will notified of the outcome of your review."

Are they talking about the DS-230? Or was I supposed to send something that I didn't? I'm a bit nervous now because I thought I did everything right! unsure.gif

Oh gosh, please tell me that this is their way of saying that they are awaiting the DS-230! wacko.gif

Yes, they are waiting for the DS-230 ( Part I of that form is called "Biographic Data").
(This and similar messages have been discussed around here several times. Just look around a bit.)

Thank you so much hhk3! You are a lifesaver lol! smile.gif I did look around, like I always do before I post but I could not find anything. I was just so frantic to get an answer that I probably didn't look hard enough. Thanks though. smile.gif

I am pretty sure that whatever he (hubby) has on that police report will not be a reason for denial since it seems that he did not really harm anyone. They will surely ask him during the interview and would ask him to explain that particular note on his file.

Good luck Megan! smile.gif

Thanks Rina! No, he didn't harm anyone he just does NOT have that in him. I don't think that it is really that bad. He was just out late AFTER the curfew and so it could be MUCH worse!

Okay, I hope it is okay if I post this here I'm just concerned about what my husband just read to me on his police certificate from Honduras.

It says that he was arrested for a public scandal and something in the words of "harming citizenship". He remembers getting arrested and said that it had to do with being out late in the street after the curfew. He was detained for 24 hours and then was let go.

I'm not too crazy about the words "harming citizenship". Maybe he didn't translate it very good, I'm not sure. I just hope this does not affect this process.

What exactly is a public scandal anyways? Is it something bad? Or is it a minor thing? It happened over 5 years ago so maybe the embassy won't look at it any further.

Any help or advice is appreciated! Thanks! smile.gif

The consular officers are primarily looking for a "crime involving moral torpitude." This is according to U.S. moral standards too, of course. I imagine the incident will be discussed at some length during the interview, but ultimately it may not be sufficient cause for a denial.

Thank you for your response Chris Parker. My husband and I talked it over some more and we really are not that worried about it especially since it was just past his curfew. I am sure though it will be discussed at the interview as well. smile.gif

Thanks again!

Five days to post to the case, yeah, but they know they received it on the 5th too.

Just think of it as an extra 5 days it takes for them to review.

@ Vylex- Alex, thanks pal for your help! I know you were there for me when I was getting my DS230 compiled and sent. I did everything I could to ensure it will not lead to this. dry.gif what a tragic experience really!

@ Chris- I have made a plan already how to resolve this with them:

Plan A:
will send them the exact copy of my original packet; to be sent via Express Mail tomorrow morning
Got RFE checklist coversheet generated and printed out (done!)
Express Mail envelopes with label and return receipt ready and filled out

Plan B: (if plan A does not work)
Got the passport translated, although its already translated
Got new police certificates
Will use NVC's RFE checklist coversheet
Express Mail envelope with label and return receipt ready and filled out

Same basic rules for me:
the email I sent them when they asked me to resend my DS230 electronically will be included in the packet
made exact copy of the file I will be sending them
list of persons' names~ Supervisors and regular Reps with time and date have been noted on my Follow Up sheet with NVC.
A love letter signed by me (of course!)

Oh Rina, I am SO sorry! I don't believe that your stuff was missing! I bet you ANYTHING that NVC lost it and are saying that it is "missing". I can't believe HOW LONG it takes them to tell us though that the file is incomplete and what not! Completely ridiculous, isn't it? My heart goes out to you Rina and we WILL get through this!

I am very depressed over this whole thing with my RFE, I can imagine how you must be feeling right now. It is not right NVC doesn't take better care of our things. How would THEY feel if we lost there, say....paychecks? lol in all seriousness though, I bet they wouldn't like it ONE BIT.

I really feel like writing a letter to the President (not that it probably wouldn't help) telling him that the immigration process is VERY disorganized and seeing how many people have been told that there stuff is "missing" when they SWEAR they have sent it to NVC...now THAT is a problem that MUST be dealt with. I don't care if NVC has THOUSANDS upon thousands of people who are filing! They need to have a better organizational system! And like someone here who already posted above said: When you send those papers to NVC, how can they lose any of them? They open that envelope and everything is attached!

Can you feel the passion I have for this subject? SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. mad.gif

Keep us posted Rina,

*hugs*

DOS looks at the same screen as NVC. The only difference between NVC and DOS is that DOS Reps are kinder than NVC folks. Also, DOS handles NVC.

Ah I see, so it would be like I was calling NVC just with kinder people lol! Is this the right number for them? 202-663-1225? I think I'll call them just for the heck of it. The worst thing they could say is "call NVC" but the BEST part of it would be that they will be much nicer than the reps @ NVC!

I decided, since I know what my RFE/Checklist is for, that I am sending the adjusted DS-230 part 1 back to NVC today, should only take 1 business day to get there.

I don't have the RFE coversheet, however I did do a coversheet of my own which included the barcode. Not sure if they will not like this, however I'm sending it anyway and hope they just accept it good.gif

I really wish someone could post exactly what the RFE checklist coversheet looks like so we could do that too.

Hi Chris Parker,

When I get my checklist in the mail, maybe today or tomorrow, not sure yet...I will try to scan and post what it looks like for you and everyone else who needs it! smile.gif

Good morning Megan, wub.gif

I know a couple of people who submitted their DS230 the same time I did. Unfortuantely my dear friend, NVC found a "problem" with theirs too, which is really frustrating. It seems that they are thoroughly checking everything and returning back even the slightest error that can be found on the DS230 or the documents.

Now I am thinking they can place me under that "missing or incomplete" category. I made an exact copy of what I sent them, and double check again the information my husband sent me and the filled-in information, I don't think we did an error on what they need on there. Oh well, I am not NVC so I can not say for sure... sad.gif

One thing that made me feel OK today was the fact that they changed it from CR1 to IR1 since we just celebrated our 2nd year anniversary this month. At least something good happen to me this week with NVC.

Keep us posted Meg, and good luck to all of us!

~ Rina

Well...looks like it IS the wrong police certificate. Hubby went to the DGIC today and showed them the exact police certificate that he sent to NVC. They told him it is the wrong one...so looks like NVC is right and WE were wrong! grrr lol. So hubby is getting the right one today and sending it to me. I'll probably get it next week.

I don't believe you should worry about your case getting a missing or incomplete message. I am sure that it will be complete VERY soon! You are definitely in my prayers! smile.gif

Even though there has been a slight delay in our case, I still am relieved and feel a bit better knowing what it is! smile.gif

Keep us posted too Rina! Good luck to all as well!

crying.gif still no luck for me...
I'll give them a break and will call again on Friday.
Let's see what happens then.

I'm sorry Rina, I'll say a prayer for you too! smile.gif Unfortunately, the message changed on the automated service, at least it changed BUT I WISH it would say "Case Complete" lol. It now says....

"The NVC has reviewed the packet of information and has found something missing or incomplete. A checklist letter was sent to the petitioner on September 24th......"

Argh! Even though I heard all this yesterday I still cannot BELIEVE it! I know they lost something because I put EVERYTHING in there that I was supposed to! It makes me SO mad how MANY people go through this AND how careless and NOT careful immigration can be with our paperwork!

I don't know WHAT the checklist is asking for. I know it is regarding the police certificate, but is it "missing"? I'm not sure because yesterday my husband called up NVC and spoke to a woman who actually checked our file and said "the police certificate is in there"??? What??? Then what is the problem? There is not a different kind that we can get and IF they say that there is, well then I AM STUMPED lol!

(I think I would rather it be that it was "missing" instead of asking for a different one!)

Keep in touch everyone and update if you can! My prayers go out to you! smile.gif

Thanks Rina and Trailmix! I am still trying to be optimistic. Hubby has completely "given up" though. He says that he's not sending me anything and not going to call me again, blah blah blah. Our usual bickering lol! It's just our frustrations, that's all. We've been through SO much not including this process, and I know we will get through this somehow some way. smile.gif

Thank you for the prayer Rina, I will say a prayer for you too as well as everyone else here! smile.gif

For now I'll just have to wait for the darn checklist letter and see what is going on. There must be a reason for this obstacle, this too shall pass. smile.gif

Well I just called and the auto-message for mine was updated today.

I sent back a checklist for the I-864 and my DS-230 which they received on September 13 - have been getting the 'we have received your checklist' message since then.

Today the message says:

The NVC has reviewed your packet of forms and found information missing or incomplete

The NVC mailed a letter on sept 22nd indicating what documentation was missing or incomplete.

So I will be calling them later to see what's up, this is getting beyond ridiculous.

It truly IS getting beyond ridiculous. My husband even told me to just forget it and we'll move somewhere else lol! Of course he was just saying that out of frustration, but my goodness ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! mad.gif

Soooo it turns out that either it's the WRONG police certificate OR they didn't "get" one. IN OTHER WORDS, I bet they lost it or something. Really ticks me off. I am not even DOUBTING that I didn't put it in there. I KNOW I DID. I put it in there and I told her that I always make a Table of Contents page for that reason and she said "Well just have to wait for the checklist letter to come".

Argh I cannot believe this is happening. mad.gif wacko.gif crying.gif

checked this morning, called few times already but the same ol' message playing...

"nvc has reviewed your forms and found information missing or incomplete and has mailed on Sept to indicate what information is missing please send it back to portsmouth nh and allow 6-8 weeks .....etc........."

are you guys getting the similar recording ???

Yes, I am. I just got off the phone though with a customer service rep and I'm literally in tears right now! They are sending a CHECKLIST!!! She said there was NO police certificate in there! Ha! I'm like "What?" and then she repeated it and I told her "OMG I put it in there" and then she said "Well hang on a minute" so there was a moment of silence and then she gets back on and asked me if my husband got it from DGIC. I said I wasn't completely sure but it sounded VERY familiar. I tried getting a hold of him and of course he isn't there.

So they are sending a darn checklist letter. I DO believe everything happens for a reason and it's all in God's timing, the timing He knows to be right, so maybe it's not the right time yet for our case to be complete. I am TRYING to be optimistic about this right now. But I'm going crazy right now. wacko.gif

I am just glad I called though and received a different answer than "It takes 2-4 weeks for review." lol!

YAY! Congrats! Rina, I don't know what that means for us and the rest of everyone who's waiting. I called at 8:00AM and same message. Just called again, same message. I'm trying to get a hold of a customer service rep right now as we speak. What if our case WAS complete BUT they didn't change it on the automated message? It's better to be safe than sorry! smile.gif

It's SOOOO hard to get a hold of one though! Hope everyone has even MORE luck today! smile.gif

Yes, I read that...but I'm *forcing* myself to wait lol! Tomorrow REGARDLESS of what I hear on that automated service, is the day I am calling them up. I will try to be as nice as I can lol. tongue.gif Watch the automated message will say something like "Case Complete on..." and the date will be sometime LAST week! Argh that would really make me mad! mad.gif

I will be saying MANY prayers tonight for everyone on here. smile.gif

It's ok, not the first time good.gif

I was actually good not calling NVC, only once a day everyday last week whistling.gif But since today is Monday, and then Megan created this post, it only made me aware of my timeline.

It is indeed taking soooo loooong (as it may seem) and it's slowly consuming my sanity over the CASE COMPLETE automated message I have been waiting to hear.

Good luck to all of you!

Yeap, let's see what happens tomorrow...

sorry RINA... i always thought that it was randy who was posting.....ooops!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways good to know that i have found so many folks here who are also going through the same process.

good luck with the remaining journey........

Oh no! Looks like I started something! Sorry everyone lol! I am SO tempted to call NVC and ask a customer service rep if there is anything new on our case. But I'm waiting! It's funny, I'm a chocoholic and really addicted to it, so picture this scenario if you would.

There's a table with a nice chocolate fudge cake on one plate and on the other there is a phone (to dial up NVC of course). Which one would I choose? I'd HAVE to pick the phone lol! That's how addicted I am to calling them up! blush.gif

It's the impatient one, isn't it? I am not good when it comes to waiting for things lol! smile.gif

But anyways, I've looked over some of the timelines on here and with no RFE's it takes at least 2 weeks or a little bit less for peoples' cases to be completed after that "NVC has received the checklist on..." message on the automated service.

NVC received our "checklist" (we were missing the DS-230) on 9/11 and no "Case Complete" message yet. Should I call them? I'm afraid of bugging them too much and fear that they could get too ticked off and push our case back "by accident".

Mononoke, what does your 8-ball say lol?

Thanks in advanced for any replies! good.gif

Megan,
Looks like i will also be joining this group of folks waiting for their case to be complete and send over to the embassies.

Randy, I feel your pain bro. I am also in the same situation of almost flipping out on the NVC folks........

Each time i speak to my wife, I complain about NVC...and the PROCESS.............

Oh, I can totally relate! My husband and I are chatting right now and all it is is "NVC this" and "NVC that" lol and even some bickering about them unfortunately. I feel as though this is consuming our lives. sad.gif We are going TOTALLY nuts and I wouldn't mind flipping out on the NVC folks right along with you!

Prayers for everyone who is waiting for that "Case Complete" and hoping for GOOD NEWS tomorrow! smile.gif

i' keep calling every other hour assuming it will change sooon.... crying.gif

Goodness, this is awful! I'm so sorry! How many of us does that make us now? 3, 4? I bet there are more of us out there waiting for "Case Complete". I am praying and HOPING tomorrow we all get "Case Complete" on that automated system! good.gif
