K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPolice certificate issues
QUOTE (danvil101 @ Nov 2 2009, 09:46 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi. My wife (a US citizen) has filed a petition for me for an immigrant visa. She's currently on the process of filing the AOS and on my part, I am preparing all the documents requirements.

I am a Filipino citizen who is now working here in Saudi Arabia for almost 5 years. Also we decided to process the visa application here in Saudi Arabia. As per the requirement, I need to obtain a police certificate for the locality where i lived for more than 6 months.

My questions are:
1. Do I need to obtain both NBI clearance from Philippines & police clearance here in Saudi Arabia?
2. In obtaining police certificate in Saudi Arabia, do I still need to make an appointment to the nearest US consulate in requesting the letter for police clearance or I can just walk-in to the consulate?

For those who have been into the same situation, please help. The nearest consulate is about 100km from where I lived so I need to be sure with the requirements first before going to them. Thank you.

Magandang araw sayo kabayan, we are in the same boat, I'll give you infos based from my experience on how to obtain Saudi PCC.
Question number 1, YES, you have to have both.
Question number 2, In order to facilitate and not to waste your time, you have to make an appointment on their website.

Where are you exactly in Saudi?

As what i've read and what i know, there is no need for you to wait for the packet coming from the embassy. once the consulate received the docs from NVC you can call the embassy and set an appointment for the interview but don't forget to download all the forms that you will be needed. I and my fiance are still waiting for the NVC to forward our papers in manila embassy. NVC received our NOA2 approval, August 26.(sigh) Good luck guys! US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWow, Is this TRUE?
When I came here in Saudi Arabia way back in the year 2001 was the time when I learned something how this world is evolving to each other. Those were the times I learned what kind of relationship does Iran and Syria is having with the US. I thought, their citizens might be the same, I guess not.

So it would be very appropriate if we do not tackle such terrorist issues because this might cause to ignite flame to the heart of those people who got nothing to do with what is going on in their homeland.
Albeit the Government of Iran and Syria does not possess of good relationship with the US it doesn't mean all of their citizens are the same.

Refer to your Ministry of Foreign Affairs website or contact them to find the precise informations on how long you can obtain a new passport.
I don't see any problem, you just have to get a new passport because your damage passport might cause you a problem along the way.

Good luck!!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNervous About the Interview
Good day VJers..
I just wanna consult something, my interview will be on January 25 and I am really nervous now.
I just keep on thinking about the question, "How did you meet? " May wife and I got to nkow each other through my aunt who is her co-worker at the Hospital. We were introduced to each other way back in the year 2003, since then we became penpal and phonepal but we are not that much active because of our busy lives here abroad.
I am working in Saudi since 2001 until today but this is my second employer, I got this new job after I left the previous one on May 18,2008 to be able to see her and marry her. We finally had the chance to see each other in June 2008 and for the first time too, I met my future mother In-law. We flew to their province from Manila and met her relatives there.
Luckily, I was able to find another job in Saudi. Because of our limited time in the Philippines we got married as soon as possible. We got married through Civil wedding and both of our families didn't attend because we got married in my province and our families are hundreds of kilometers away from us.
We got married in July and we both left the Philippines on the same date after 2 weeks of our wedding.

I just want ask your opinion? Do you think being introduced to each other by my aunt will cause us trouble during the interview?

Thank you for your time reading my letter and I am hoping for your response.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview Date Changed

I doubt if they want to interview you on a Sunday (24th). I think someone at the embassy made a mistake. The 4 and the 5 are situated right next to each other on the keyboard. I would go on the 25th (Monday) with my letter from the NVC and all other required documents.

I'd be a little worried too though, but not too much. Be confident!

P&S

It's okay about the day, because Sunday here is just like Tuesday in our regular calendar. Because the week starts on Saturday not Monday.

What I am worried about is that, maybe, once I get there they might not honor the e-mail I got from one of their employees.
I believe the letter that came from the NVC is the most valid to show that you have an interview on that date.

Anyhow, I am going to Riyadh today after my work, and stay there until 25 of January just incase they will tell me that my interview is not 24 but 25, I will not have problem. Dammam is hundreds of kilometers from Riyadh and it will take one hour by plane, 7 hours by bus and 5 hours by train.
Lancelotte25MalePhilippines2010-01-23 00:39:00
US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview Date Changed

If you received an email from the embassy stating the 24th then that is the date your interview is scheduled. Take the e-mail with you to the embassy. If you can't successfully get to the embassy on the 24th due to a misunderstanding then send an email to RiyadhIV@state.gov explaining what happened and that you had made arrangements to attend on 25th. They are pretty good about responding to e-mails, you can forget the phone... That is a waste of time and energy. Besides the Riyadh embassy is closed on Thursday and Friday every week.

Dee

I am so amazed when you said that they are pretty good answering e-mails, my first e-mail was answered morethan one week.
and that was the time they informed me that my interview will be on the 24th of January.

This confusion is really giving me an headache, one more thing, it's not that easy to find a flight to Riyadh when your departure date is just one day ahead from making a reservation.
I had my flight confirmed for January 25 and I had that reservation on the first week of January, today, I am fortunate enough to had my flight confirmed for this afternoon and I can no longer find any booking aside from that date.

I am trying to call them but the only person who answers me is a very rude operator and if they will transfer you to the section you are asking no one anwers it but an automated message saying leave your name and telephone numbers and he will call me back, luckily after that message there's another automated message saying, this voice mail box can no longer accept messages, thank you for calling!! Augh!! :ranting:

 I got an e-mail from the US Embassy today that my schedule for the interview will be on January 24, but according to the letter I received from NVC my schedule is on January 25

If I will go to the Embassy on the date they gave me, will they accept the e-mail they sent me as proof that I have an schedule on that day?

I am hundreds of kilometers away in Riyadh and getting a flight booking is very hard when your date of departure is getting nearer.
I already purchased my ticket dated on January 25, but now I am having trouble of having it re-book.

Which one I will follow guys, the NVC appointment letter or the e-mail from the embassy?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview In Riyadh
Finally, I had my interview in Riyadh on January 23,2010, my schedule was 1:30 pm and I had my final interview with the American consul at around 3:40 pm, my interview lasted for about 20 minutes.
The American consul was a fine young woman, she is so nice but if she is talking with the other consular officer and ask for their opinion about my case you can see that she is a very tough officer.
She asked me with so many questions, and most of the questions are not just answerable by YES or NO or precise dates of each and every occasion, I have to think hard about the answers that I will give to her.
what I learned and what I can say to those who are having the interview soon,BE HONEST, that's the main tool.
Pictures, Greeting Cards and my wife's telephone bills played a very important role with my interview, they didn't ask for any other documents.
During the later time of the interview, the lady consul just talking to me in a very casual way and after repeating some of her previous questions, she told me to go to other window to get my stuff back, she didn't told me if I was approved. The Indian consul returned all the original documents we submitted to the NVC and keep my passport. He didn't told me either if I was approved, He just gave me a violet card with a written phrase "Collect Passport" and asked me to bring it to the FedEX and return the airway bill. I was really confused and thinking if I was denied or approved, so before I leave the window I asked the Indian consul if I was approved and he said, Yes. I didn't feel anything, as in anything. I passed through the window of the American lady consul and said Thank you and she just gave me a smile.
Until I got back to my hotel room, I'm still not convinced if I was really approved.
I can't wait to see my passport with visa in it to make my self convinced or believe that I was really approved.

I had my interview in this embassy and everything went well, when it comes to the immigration officers, I will give them 4 stars.
The only thing I didn't like in this embassy is when you are trying to call them to ask some questions, the operator is very rude and no one answers the phone except from the automated messages.
The Indian consul told me that I have to wait at least 2 weeks before I will receive my visa, but after 4 days, Its in my hand.

US Citizenship General DiscussionP. O Box as a mailing address, is it ok?
QUOTE (bilson4real @ Aug 1 2009, 08:11 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I will be filling my N400 on 08/20/2009, and I will equally vacate my current home for a new one by late October. Is it appropriate to use a P.O Box address as my mailing address to avoid possible change of address for correspondence regarding my N400? Thou, I am fully aware that an immigrant must file change of address form with USCIS whenever change of address occur; which I will definitely do. Thanks for your help.

I have these worries too, It's because I live in Saudi Arabia and they are using PO BOXEs here instead of home address. wacko.gif

US Citizenship General DiscussionExpired Passport

Hi Guys,

Does anyone applied  citizenship with an expired passport? I just got a yellow mail from USCIS yesterday, it stated that USCIS recommends me to bring all passports and travel documents(including expired and current) issued by any government. I don't have a current passport right now it was expired March 09,2014.   Pls. help ... Thank you in advance.Brin

Bring it even if it's expired, chances are they won't ask for it. I got the yellow paper as well but the officer did not ask for anything that I brought indicated on that paper.

Good luck!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresChanging from K3 to DCF
Hi everyone. I'm new to this site and the immigration process, and I am needing advice about what to do. My husband and I are living in KSA and we applied with an attorney in the USA for a K3. We have submitted out I130 but haven't recieved the NOA. Since filing it, we have learned about DCF and how much quicker and easier it can be. My question is, can we withdraw our I130 that we filed in the USA and file here at our Embassy? If so, how do we go about doing it? Will it effect the legality of our case? How long after it is withdrawn will we need to wait to file here in Saudi Arabia..or do we need to wait at all? If anyone has any advice or has been thru a similar sitiation, I would greatly appreciate your help.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNeed experts suggestion and expertise

1. No one can predict how long it will take to get your case to the embassy and if they will or will not pull it for more reviews stateside.

2. You will need proof of the ongoing and legitimacy of your marriage. Pictures, emails, phone records* with dates and times, gifts, and if the spouse has added your name to accounts jointly. Examples would be utility bills, insurance, etc.

You are right dear, I do have pictures(I am having 3-5 wedding day pics but not much), emails alot, phone records mostly we use to call each other by internet...using Yahoo phone, ya but I can produce some bills etc.... so by this we cant keep the log, hope you will understand what I am saying, Yes, one more thing she already changed her name and put my name as her last name[Husband name]

3. You name as you know has been checked and did have a hit in one of the many data bases they use and you will have to submit prints again at the embassy to overcome the hit possibly. I do not know what country your coming from but Muslim Pakistani men are rarely given a visitors visa. This is the reason I ended up going to Pakistan and marrying my husband.

Dear I am also from Pakistan, I meant to ask that when ever I will go for the interview do they will go through with the whole process.

All you can do at this point is sit back and hopefully you will finish up with USCIS and NVC and be forwarded to the embassy soon. Take your journey one day at a time and try not to dwell on it. Make your conversation light with you spouse and read up on AR/AP since you will have to endure this once you have your interview at the embassy level. Work on getting all your proofs together for your interview.

Good luck,

Mary

Thankx I am sitting back and waiting and hopefuly get the things done......
