Don't be sad, Laura!

The one that got approved most recently also had the unusual circumstances of "security checks"! It's just bad luck that two in a row are skewing the data.

Did you also notice that the time spread for predicted adjudication has increased? It's nearly a month now! I think that probably has something to do with the vast difference in the data. When most people on the top 15 were around 90 days, it was really tight, about a week. Throw in some unusually high numbers, and it spreads out to a month! Wow!!

I looked at the top 15, and I figure that the time predicted for my adjudication is roughly the same as the average of the last 15 approved.

Here are the high time ones:
284: Security Checks
215: Background Checks
145: Time needed to reply to RFE (34 days)
249: RFE AND Background Checks
126: RFE (43 days to reply)

Throw all those out (or assume you'll be faster with your RFE) and the average goes back down to around 90 days!! Of course, maybe you'll be unlucky enough that you or your fiance's name will come up with a name check as being the same name as some dastardly character (speculation of cause!), and you'll get stuck in checks too.

Yes that's what I am predicting as well, around 90 days. I agree with you that the last two approvals skewed the timelines and I don't see how May-June prediction is possible with the increase in Approximate Processing Dates for Common Forms- I-129F CSC from October 27,2008 to Novemeber 19, 2008.

Now I just pray that CSC will keep on with that pace and I do not end up security checks!

I'm glad you guys check your time lines as often as I do. Makes me feel less crazy for being so obsessive - or at least more average about it. biggrin.gif

LOL....Yeah by the time this whole process is over I am going to be a full out VJ ADDICT! I am happy that we will all be here to support each other throughout it!

I forgot to add that Captain Ewok posted this about timelines accuracy:

Actually their profile says they think they are getting married next week already!!!

Maybe they confused the visa receipt with NOA2 - which means they are sort of on track??

Anyway, it seems to me that if you want to predict typical, it seems like 90 days for no RFEs, and approval less than a week after you return RFEs.

Uncommon events such as background checks/security checks are not really predictable about how late they make you. I'm holding out for 90 days, which puts us back into the April dates near to the time in Jan that we filed. smile.gif

Oh yes that's possible! I did not get to look at their profile. 90 days would satisfy me as well!

I know me too! Congratulations to the July filer! Hopefully the timelines will go back to April soon once more people get approved! CSC is skipping all over the place! It's not fair! First received first approved policy....but apparently not!

That's because a December Filer just got approved in 65 days, I think (approved Feb 19 - military expedite). Unfortunately, the timeline program doesn't throw that sort of data out...

Whoa that's a new one...that one wasn't even on Igor's list of approved when I checked...now my adjudication date jumped one day earlier to April 10-14th. Oh well...sometime in mid April would be nice!

woah...my adjucation time just jumped to April 12-14. Without anyone else getting approve. I don't get it?? If only that really happened...

I know mine too! It jumped from April 18-23 to April 11-13th! Maybe because there have been a few K-3 or CR1/IR1 approvals this week? Weird...well I will take it!! My adjudication has jumped all over the place since filing, but I don't think it gets accurate until closer to estimated adjudication time! Laura I just realized that your NOA1 date is Jan 15th, one day after mine!

I'm glad I found you guys! I was caught a little off guard when I was reading the posts up to now and had this really strange feeling like I'd found a little internet home for myself...Let me see if I can't get up to speed on my part of the conversation so far.

I saw you guys were discussing Igor's list. I have been obsessively checking this (and my time line estimated adjudication date). I find that I am very disappointed - it seems as though I am getting HIGHER Igor's list numbers. I think that since I filed at the end of the month, sometimes people fill in their time lines with earlier dates later than me, so I get moved down as they are shuffled in. I wonder when that sort of thing generally stops happening.

The really odd thing is that my adjudication date keeps getting earlier without any other NOA2s being reported. Not that I want to complain about THAT!

I had a dream last night that my predicted adjudication date was Feb 10th, 2009, and it was all over! Hah!

Nik and I (Heather) both share this account, but as far as I know, I'm the obsessive VJer. I'm the USC, 24 years old, and we met because we play the same game online. Nice to meet you, Andrea and Laura. smile.gif I wonder if there's been a poll about who uses VJ the most - men or women - as it seems like the main posters in this thread are women...

It is nice to meet you as well Heather! I am 24 too! I am the obsessive VJer as well, my fiance (USC) has no interest in the forum, (he's got too many forums already LOL) I have been noticing that as well, my number on IGOR's list keeps on going up an down but my adjudication date keeps getting earlier too! I would be seriously happy with anytime in April! I think there was a poll about a week or two ago about who uses VJ and whether you are the beneficiary or not. From what I can remember it was alot of women. Anyways, nice to meet you and keep in touch!

Just looking ahead, and I'm trying to figure out all of the documentation required by my fiance once NVC sends the embassy the approved visa. Is it just the DS-156K form? And in addition to sending the originals/copies from the I-129F, I also send the NOA1&2, and the I-134 form and supporting docs.... right? Am I missing anything else?

Your fiance will complete the DS forms, I am not sure if Australia has converted to the DS-160 which replaces 156, 157 and 158. I believe your fiance will also need to complete the DS-230, but you will both need to complete an updated letter of intent to marry dated after the NOA2. The embassy will also want proof of relationship (phone bills, messenger logs, any trips that you took to see each other after sending in the I-129F, photos). Your fiance in Australia will also need a police certificate and of course the medical exam done. I am trying to find my vaccination records for the medical, but I am also trying to find a list of required vaccinations for the medical so I can get these done in advance if I am missing any. Hope this helps!

I have been looking at a few reception venues online and they look beautiful from the pictures! I am just afraid that by the time I call and ask what they have for availability there will be NOTHING!! I am hoping to have my interview and be approved by June so I can set the date then for Sept/Oct. I guess there can always be cancellations!? Some of the prices per plate though for venues, absolutely ridiculous!! $100 a plate! I don't think so!!

yea i did a bad bad thing and booked things already..so im hoping to not have to cancel them, or if i have to maybe they will be nice about moving the date. ugh. atleast you are thinking fall, which is a less popular time to get married than spring/summer! my town is a huuuuuge college football town, so if i DO have to move the date, im gonna most likely have to do winter (ew) or spring. so we'd just do a really small church thing just to be legally married, and then do something later. but i really hope it just goes on time haha.

Well I pray that everything comes through for you on time!! We want the most amount of time after the visa is issued to make wedding plans and hope that our families will be able to come with only 4-5 months notice! The absolute latest I would have the wedding would be first week of November because of the roads and possibility to get snow and winter storms up north, if i had to, but for us this is the only wedding we will have, our families were not okay with having legal wedding and then later have a reception or church wedding, so its all or nothing! If its a cheap deposit then yeah we might book it before we get approved, but its still money that we could have used while I was not able to work for 3 months if it falls through and they won't refund it! September is still a popular month but not as popular as the summer months so I am a bit worried! I would like October but one of my bridesmaids will be in her last semester of school and that is midterm time! So I am hoping for maybe late Sept then! But I can't plan around 1 person unfortunately, so we will see!!

Boy we are a quiet bunch! Anyways, just wanted to check in to see how things are going? I just got back earlier this week from visiting my fiance in the U.S. It was hard to leave this time, but hopefully I will go again in April! My estimated time for adjudication on my timeline has jumped all over the place in the past few weeks...end of april to end of may, but I would be happy with where it is now...around of end of april. On Igor's list...(the old one) I don't think it is representative of my true spot ie Date sent...Mine was sent 12/20...but no NOA1 until 1/14.... so really I would be down the list into January instead of furthur up the list. This is why I like the new list, goes by NOA1 although my number is like a 100 more!!

Well since the month of January is done there are no more January filers for 2009 on VJ! But if there are any more out there please feel free to drop by!!

we are too quiet i think sad.gif how nice that you got to see your fiance! how did entering the us go? did you get asked about the k1? right now my estimated time is end of april..i would love if that happened!

Yes I agree too quiet!

I have been travelling back and forth for the past six years but now that I am back in Canada, I get the 20 questions every time because of course I say going to visit my boyfriend, or more recently...fiance! He asked to see my airline ticket (I was crossing at a land border then travelling with my fiance to Omaha) and I explained to him that the round trip ticket was cheaper than buying a one-way, he just shrugged his shoulders and said well as long as you return to Canada. He said " You do know that you need a visa to get married in the US?" I said Yes I do my fiance and I just applied for the fiance visa. He then asked well what consulate will that be going to? I told him Vancouver. I had a bunch of proof of ties and he never asked to see them! He asked the regular questions about monetary, plants, fruits....but I have been asked the past three times I crossed "Have you ever been arrested and/or fingerprinted?" Of course everytime I tell the truth and say yes it was a misdemeanor my first year of college. This last time was the best response (he was a young guy) with a big smile on his face " Well everyone is young once." And then we both laughed.

I want to go back to see him!! I want to start searching out wedding venues!! The internet is a good resource but it nothing like seeing them in person and making a decision with him!! crying.gif

im the USC and I definitely know how you feel....I'd give ANYTHING for him to be here with me!

ugh even though I know its wayyy to early to even hope for approval, I still wish CSC would get moving...I want all the people before me to get outttt of there hahaha.

How do you know when your petition has been "touched"??

I signed up to receive notifications from the website-- will they email me if my petition is "touched" -- and what exactly does that mean??

I don't believe they will email you when your case is touched, you just have to logon to your case status online and the date it was last updated is your "touch". I had two extra touches after the NOA1, but I believe that was due to the change of address for the petition. The date the change of address was dated was the 21st and the 22nd is when they mailed it..hence the two touches. Hope this helps.

my check was cashed today! can anyone tell me how many numbers the case number is?? the back is hard to read...

Congrats! our check is probably in that same bundle somewhere! Our case number started off as WAC...then has 10 numbers after it!

where was it on the check? i think i found it but i dont see the WAC part...but im guessing?

On the back side of your check...there has been people that haven't gotten case numbers on the back of their check and have had to wait for NOA1. It might just be bank transit numbers...but I am hoping not for you!

From where my fiance sent the package it might as well been a remote location...you always have to add an extra day to everything and forget about overnight shipping..won't happen! LOL! And of course it was right before christmas so everything was so slow! I guess I kind of consider myself both December and January LOL! I am obsessing too, going to give myself an ulcer! I looked over everything before we sent it in 3x!! I just need to hear something soon!

i think i've checked my bank account like 10 times today. luckily i have class in like 90 minutes for SIX hours so i cant check it for awhile so i can stop obsessing..kinda. btw, I'm laura, 22, I go to school near chicago but am from indiana..care to introduce yourself?? seems like we will be in this together so it would be nice to know eachother a bit more

My fiance is the one that has the US bank account so I can't even check it!! gaaahh! I am getting sick of asking him if he's checked his bank account!! LOL Anyways, I am Andrea, 24, the beneficiary from Canada. I met my fiance while I was in the US going to school we have been together for almost 4 years now and I can't wait to get this process over with so we can get married! Its so hard to plan a wedding without a date! Oh and nice to meet you Laura! I hope we both have a speedy process!

I met mine when he was here going to school haha so I guess we are pretty similar. If it was my fiance that was the USC i think i'd die because he probably wouldn't be so crazy about checking. I saw one another post that USCIS's "goals" are to process these faster or something, so hopefully they actually do that. I don't need an ulcer lol. I stress wayyy too much.

Yes I hope they start doing things faster! But also in a first come first serve basis! There are so many people from this summer not approved yet and they are approving some non-expedite November filers!! I don't want to end up like the people waiting from summer 08!! I will stress less once I know that the check has been cashed or somebody is at least handling it!! Anyways, hope to hear from you again soon!

I am soooo nervous too, but I have been waiting longer! and the suspense is killing me! What the heck is taking so long? It took forever for the package to arrive so I guess my NOA1 ( if I get one) will be dated for January!! arrrgghh! Cmon cash the cheque already! If not send it back so we know what to correct!! Looking at some timelines I am not the only one who has waited more than 15 or so days for an NOA1...but they are rarer it seems! ranting33va.gif Ok vent done! Hope to hear something by the end of this week!! Good luck to all of you still waiting as well!! Please pray for me!!

Hmm...hopefully we will both hear something soon!! That is really weird that you are still waiting. My package arrived the day after I sent it because I did send it priority or whatever..I paid $25 so it better have been that fast haha. So are you considering yourself a January person then?? We need to get this thread more active..but then maybe I am the only one obsessing over this?? I looked over my copies of the forms and stuff and nothing seems obvious that they would return it for..all the pages signed, etc. Good luck to us smile.gif

if anyone gets NOA1's today please post smile.gif I really thought I'd have mine by now and am getting nervous that maybe they are sending the package back for some reason.

Yayyyyyy! I'm so happy for you!!!! Guess what? I'm in England now and my sister texted me today that I got an approval letter! I ran and woke up Paul and told him! I can not BELIEVE it!! Thank you Jesus!!!! She said it says approved 2/26/09. So i guess I got approved but didn't get an email me, and my status still says pending and no touches. I havent seen the letter tho.
Navid... you were right, we got our approvals the same time!
I can't wait for everyone else to get approved! I'm sorry that this system is so unfair. I honestly think my congress inquiry worked, but i have no idea why it took so long. Well at least I got to tell him in person. I will update my status now.

NOA2 received!!!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

Online system still says "pending" after 3 touches (and I never got an email from the system...I know it was touched only because I checked about every 4 hours!), but I have the NOA2 letter in my (shaking) hands.
I'm sure it's just coincidence that our file was sent for background checks in June but just happened to be approved 3 days after USCIS was contacted by my Congressman's aide! headbonk.gif

Thank you all for your support, and for any other Marchers who haven't gotten an NOA2....contact that Congressman!

Sometimes it can be a random check that a petition goes through at NVC before it is forwarded to the consulate, even if USCIS never picked up a hit in any of their databases that they check. Normally K-1's enter and exit NVC fairly quickly, within a matter of days. Not sure about beneficiaries from "higher risk" countries if they are more prone to have their petition put in AP at NVC.

Oh no! rose.gif I am praying it will be a short AP at NVC, I have seen some that are around 50 days and some longer some shorter.....but Canada is not a "high-risk" country, hoping this is just a random AP. rose.gif

Your welcome darlin!

So today was a half decent day. Went and got my first Gardasil shot (owwie, its a very stingy vaccine just as a heads up to those who havent gotten it yet) and also emailed my consulate to see if they have logged my packet yet and to see if I could request a date before or around the 15th of september. This is what I wrote them:

QUOTE
This is an inquiry to our case. We have recently returned the info packet for our K1 Visa. I wish to confirm receipt to your embassy of our package.

As well we do have a request if possible. Our wedding is scheduled for 1st week of Oct, and my fiance has time scheduled off of work for the event as well as to come up to Canada to escort me in my drive across country. As this was scheduled in advance it will not be easy to reschedule so we were hoping that we could request and interview date some time around or prior to the 15th of September. I understand that there are no guarantees, but if you could note our account, we would appreciate it.

Thank you in advance for your reply

and this is what I got back (within an hour too woohoo!)

QUOTE
Please be advised that once we receive your paperwork your case will be placed on a waiting list for an appointment.

I have noted your file that you have an early October wedding and therefore will be scheduled soonest and advised

by mail of the appointment date. Thank you for your patience.

So hopefully I won't have to wait too long biggrin.gif Just hoping if they schedule me for the next round of interviews that its for AFTER my medical laughing.gif if not I will see about moving the medical up. Its great cuz one of my friends really wanted to come to both the civil and big one and had been planning for that time too, anything after about the 19th of October she couldn't have done, and I've been invited to a wedding with Wes if I can get down there before the 3rd, so I am very happy today. biggrin.gif

Quick question...how long is it taking all of the March filers to clear the NVC? We got our NOA2 approval back on June 23rd, and NVC still haven't received it, or at least entered it into their system. The operators are all very nice but keep saying that it could take up to 90 days for them to receive the file from CSC.

I really don't want to think about another 90 days and then another 60 days until the interview after that! I thought we were so close!!! crying.gif

Any helpful reassurances would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Its possible because of the July 4th long weekend that slowed down operations. I would start to get nervous if it still has not arrived by the end of next week. Once it gets there it will fly through there pending no AP and be on its way to Vancouver though! The operators are just covering their A**es with the whole 90 day stuff. I wonder if calling the mis-information line (USCIS) would be a help, if they could tell you if its been sent to NVC. It is also possible that your file is at NVC, but just hasn't been "logged" into their system.

At least your file is going to Vancouver! A much less wait than going through MTL!

When it rains it pours...

So the night I got laid off Wes had some troubles with his truck overheating, his rad had a leak and all the fluid drained...he took it to the shop today and its toast so he had to get a new car, which blows because its not money we intended to spend for awhile. Each new thing makes me think it will be harder and harder for us to have our wedding next year...not the civil one, the other one, because even though he makes above the line, we will have my car, and now his as well as the apartment to pay for and paying back my schooling to my parents. I've just sat here crying for the last 30 minutes. I dont want to make us go into debt but I have always dreamed of my pretty wedding....and I would like to have it sometime soon, I dont really want to wait 2-5 years to have it. I know that probably makes me sound selfish but in my mind thats so far away that theres no point, which he doesnt agree with because he knows how much I want it. In my mind however we will have been married for so long that everyone will know and its not the same...so much sacrificing already made in this process and this now just adds to it.

It also means that even if my interview isnt till September, I wont be able to go see him in August. crying.gif

I am so sorry Danu! Everything has a way of working itself out! I won't be able to see my fiance until the end of September because we are having the wedding in October! I haven't seen him since beginning of April!! It's worth waiting for and will make the reunion so much better! Stay strong!

Yeah Blizzcon would be fun, I went to the one last year. I just dont want to chance getting everything all ready and then end up my interview that week lol.

Hey Danu! The touch could mean your petition has been moved from one box to another, but who knows it could be something more like an NOA2 *knocks on wood* I never received an email notification of NOA2. Just a touch, then a few days later an NOA2 in my fiance's mailbox!! I hope it is for you!!

I have already filled out the DS-156K and the DS-230 as the info on those 2 won't be changing, just didnt sign or date them yet. Because Wes hates paperwork I filled out most of the I-134 for him so that he just needs to get supporting evidence of support for us, and to find out if his job will let him put the actual street address of the company or if he has to put the PO box as he's not suppose to tell ppl what the address of the place is.

I have also completed my g-325a, I-131, I-145 and I-765 minus any references to SSN or Alien Number as I dont have those yet for my AOS so that when I have moved and we get married I am not scrambling to get that package completed. I'm going to apply for my police cert once I get Packet 3, as I can just send back the checklist to them saying I have everything even if I don't. My embassy is booking about 3-4 months behind and the police cert takes about 2 weeks, medical I can get super fast too. I'm not going to get my medical done right before the interview, probably a month or 2 before, this way I dont have to take a huge chunk of time off work and it will still be valid for when I send in the AOS.

Thanks for the bday wishes Franziska!

Happy belated birthday!!
Hope you get your NOA2 soon Danu!

You sounded like me before I got mine and my fiance. He hates paperwork too, he was just told where to sign LOL. I had all the forms filled out and ready to go! LOL. Even the AOS stuff is saved on my harddrive! Anywhos, you are lucky that you don't have to do everything at once like me. I am going to have the medical & interview in the course of 2 days! ugh! Are the medicals valid for 1 year for AOS?

Yay... It's good to hear that everything is going so well. smile.gif

Do you have to have a SSN in Idaho to get married? We already have our marriage license. Nebraska doesn't even care if you show up together ... we got it through the mail with photographed ID's, which I had easy access to, thanks to our 129F packet.

I've been spending time meeting with venue people to get our little wedding together. Yesterday, we got cake samples. smile.gif Most of me says I wouldn't mind the courthouse thing.
