Illness aside, though. Life is very, very good right now smile.gif

Yay... It's good to hear that everything is going so well. smile.gif

Do you have to have a SSN in Idaho to get married? We already have our marriage license. Nebraska doesn't even care if you show up together ... we got it through the mail with photographed ID's, which I had easy access to, thanks to our 129F packet.

I've been spending time meeting with venue people to get our little wedding together. Yesterday, we got cake samples. smile.gif Most of me says I wouldn't mind the courthouse thing.

Lisa! Glad to hear that you are out of AP and the case is in London! Well I finally made the 16 hour drive to Nebraska! So exhausted, but so happy to be here! My fiance's birthday is tomorrow and his first day of leave! So much wedding stuff to do! Did I mention 17 days? Ahhh! Still need to get the marriage licence! wacko.gif

All right, guys. This is it. I leave in the morning and will spend the next two days on a plane-but it'll all be worth it because I'll be heading toward Lamine. Please keep your fingers crossed and say a couple prayers for us on the 8th. I'm so terrified of the interview. I'll try to update as soon as possible, but the power outages are really bad in Dakar around this time of year, so no guarantee on posting while I'm in Senegal.

Good luck to all of you!

Have a wonderful trip! I know your interview will go well!

Guess what? We are out of AP! Allie's next. People actually DO survive AP!

Yay for getting out of AP, now the fun starts!

Jauque!! How did the interview and POE go? How is life in the USA?

hehe...i love that, you made me have a really needed giggle right now...actually it was hot chocolate with whipped cream...this was at a chain pub owned by Wetherspoons called "Sir Nigel Gresley's" so Nigel calls it "his pub" lol.

Allie - I want a pub. No fair. smile.gif

Minnew - Thank you, and yes, the congressman said he'd look into it, took our info and a signed authorisation to speak to NVC on our behalf, but we didn't hear back from him. When are you travelling? Got to be soon, right?

Well it sounds like whatever the congressman did helped as you are now out of AP!! Yay!! Yes I will be on my way soon, I am currently packing and dealing with wedding stuff. Just had my trial hair-do done this morning, and the seamstress called me for a fitting!! What a perfect day!! I can't wait until the wedding! I am just hoping the stylist in Omaha can replicate this look with LOTS of pictures and trial run, and the same curl setting product which I bought today. I've had the same stylist since I was a kid, I wish I could fly her down.. laughing.gif

endoftheroad, congrats with packet 3! That was not too long.

Oh, did anybody hear from Jauque? I think she already had her interview, hope it went well.

We still don't know anything about interview or medical dates yet. For now, I am just working long hours before my trip, so at least time goes fast.

Attaya girl-Good luck with the interview!

I haven't heard from Jauque either, impatiently waiting for an update! I think she was headed for POE right afterwards because visa's in Vancouver are usually ready the next day after the interview for pick-up!

Okay, update. Just got off a 1 1/2 hour call with my girl and our candle is burning bright. We are facing much adversity but what is holding us together is our chance at being with each other very soon. C'mon consulate, do us right!

It sounds like the beneficiaries are calling NVC, as either the petitioner or beneficiary can, to change the beneficiaries address so that when the consulate receives the package from NVC, package 3 from the consulate will be sent to the correct address of the beneficiary.

Don't know if that is correct, but if only a US citizen is allowed to submit a petition for entry to the US, it seems like only that person should be able to make changes to it. Otherwise the chances for fraud are elevated. I don't want anyone making a change to my petition but me, a US citizen.

Your best bet is to call NVC about an address change for the beneficiary, to catch the petition before it heads to the consulate so that you can ensure that the beneficiary will actually receive Packet 3 if they have moved. At least at NVC you get to speak to a live person, most consulates do not have that option.

I understand what you are saying, but NVC has allowed the petitioner OR the beneficiary to call about the status of your case. They were very friendly with me and I was the beneficiary, and they usually asked a few questions to confirm who was calling, sometimes not though, and just ask for the WAC # .

Good plan! I've heard from a few people that gathering the AOS info/filling out the forms is some work. I haven't really explored that much yet.

Oooo... The wedding is coming! smile.gif Any idea when you're flying/driving in?

[/quote]

Lisa-I will be driving into Omaha mid to late September! I cannot wait to get the heck outta dodge! lol!

I am not looking forward to the AOS stuff, it should be pretty simple most of it, I am just worried about the I-693 and whether to get my vaccination stuff transcribed. I haven't started calling local CS in the Omaha area, I hope they aren't all overpriced and say that I need to redo my entire medical. *Sigh* Maybe I'll use Dr. Arnold, but I am worried if we get an AOS interview that they may question why we used a doctor in TX rather than in NE. I remember reading someone's AOS review and they did use Dr.Arnold and were questioned why they used him because they do not live in TX. From the sounds of the review the interviewer was more interested in what they said about the local civil surgeons prices and what they were told about having to redo the entire medical. I am not going to redo the medical unless RFE'd for it, its absolutely ridiculous that a local CS can get away with setting their prices @ 500 a pop!! mad.gif

It's hard to keep up with you guys. All of you ar so way ahead of me...lol. But, I am sure the feeling is great to be speeding through this journey.

Wait until a couple months from now when you notice the (for the sake of this example) October thread and you feel so bad for all the people in there who still have so long to go. You start wishing that they has applied when you did so they could be getting their approvals now. I often wonder if the people who applied in January look at the April filers thread and think that.

Sometimes I look in the January thread and think how lucky they are that they are either in the US now and/or married already. Does that count? smile.gif

I do think about people who filed later and think about the wait they've got ahead of them.

I didn't even think of that, I do recall having looked jealously at the february filers thread when they were getting approved like crazy at like the 30 day mark. And then it just stopped right after we submitted our petition. Glad things are moving again! I looked through the first couple pages of this thread the other night and it was kind of like watching people go from freshman to seniors, I lol'd.

I do recall as a January filer looking at the February filers and being jealous that they got approved in 30 days some of them! When mine was like 60 something, I remember thinking...why didn't I just file in February! lol! Alot of the January filers are already married, but some are still waiting on visas, or just waiting in their home country to move and get married. One January filer is getting married the same weekend I am! Hehe probably why I am hanging around all the other month threads and lurking in the AOS threads to find out what I have in store and processing in the next 2 months after I marry.

wow... that's FAST Jauque.... And the day before your medical??? Will they just say your visa is approved pending medical?

We received our NOA2 hardcopy last Thursday. I was hoping my fiance would wait until I arrived so that we could open it together, but he didn't know what it was, or wasn't thinking or something, and just opened it. sigh. Oh well. lol To his credit, I arrived a day later than I was supposed to, due to THE MOST ridiculous flying experience I have ever had. 21 hour delay anyone? yeah... don't get me started. lol

Also, I'm having to call USCIS for the first time (eek), to change my address. I'm just wondering how quickly does an address change go into effect, and when they will start mailing ME (the beneficiary) information? I'm concerned I'm going to miss things in the mail. I just called them and listened to a lengthy prompt that said things about changing the address online, or changing it over the phone, but needing to send in a form?! UGH. I just wanted to change the address. How do I even do that? I can't find a spot on the uscis website to do so. I know a few of you have had address changes, so I was hoping to pick some brains on that.

From what I've read in the Canada forum it's fine to do the medical the day after and then just return the next day with the medical results.

Since you have your approval I would call the NVC and change your adress with them that way you know they will have the right adress on it when it gets forwarded to the consulate. I'm pretty sure after the USCIS sends it off they no longer have it available to them to make adress changes on the papers themselves.

Enjoy your trip and boo to flying delays!

Congrats Jauque on your interview date! That is really soon!!

I did my medical the day after my interview, and it worked out really well for me in Vancouver! Really sucks that is the only place in Western Canada to go for a medical mad.gif And only offered on Wednesdays!! So it all has to be done in 1 trip. After the interview, I was given a letter of authorization to return to the consulate and they marked for what reason. The day after the medical results are submitted you do not need a letter to return for the Visa pickup, the guards might recognize by then....lol...You can also just give the consulate an expresspost mailer on the day you submit your medical results, instead of sticking around Vancouver one more night.

My fiance is flying to Edmonton and then we're going to drive to Vancouver and then hopefully we were going to drive from Vancouver straight to Kansas. Thus my concern with them mailing my visa as I won't be home to get it. I'm going to hope they let me pick it up the day of the medical or the day after (even the day after that) it would really suck if it got mailed back to Northern Alberta and I had to wait for my parents to mail it back to me.

Thanks for the congratz, I'm pretty stoked just a little stressed about all the little details! dancin5hr.gif

Holy moly thats not much time to pack up and get outta dodge!! laughing.gif

As long as there isn't any hold ups they should be able to print your Visa and it be ready for pick-up Thursday @ 2:30 pm. Oh and don't wait in the line up for Visa pick-up!! (I did, wasted about 5 minutes thinking....I don't think I am in the right line....then I remembered VJ lol) Those people are picking up visa's in the lobby before security checkpoint. K visas have to go all the way up to the 20th floor and through security twice for Visa pick-up!!

My fiance has bought flowers in the past for me, I think if they are bought too often like for birthday, anniversary, etc. every milestone then the gesture and appreciation for them wear off. I do think for special occasions like an anniversary or if they just feel like being a romantic its okay, but again bringing flower home once a month or sending them loses its wow factor. I love red roses are thats what I have received from him every time, haha if you haven't noticed my avatar, I am using red roses in my wedding for bouquets, centerpieces, bridal party flowers and silk petals for table confetti.

Telling this story about the first time I received flowers from him is gonna make me tear up...so bear with me...He was deployed at the time, for 4 mos and this was in the beginning of our relationship back when I lived in the US, I was on summer break so I was back in Canada working, one morning I received a beautiful flower arrangment with a little note that said "Reminding you that love stretches ten thousand miles." Later on after his arrival, I think around our 1 year anniversary we got matching necklaces that had a picture of us on 1 side, from the day he arrived back to the USA and the other had engraved what was written on that note card plus our names. heart.gif wub.gif

There is a way to track the DHL shipments out of NVC, but not your specific package, just if packages were sent to a specific consulate.

Format to use EXP 04 AUG 2009A

I received my letter from NVC today saying they received our case and it will be sent out to the embassy within 7 days (not necessary the case... it's their standard language).

Just to recap:

NOA2 (CA) - July 20
NVC arrival (CA to NH) - July 29
NVC letter received (NH to NE) - Aug 5

I thought that might be interesting for people with earlier approvals who haven't had their case received yet. Hopefully USCIS has a way of tracking the shipment to the NVC, or maybe they have stacks they're sorting through and things are just out of order.

My Christmas was good! It was quiet as it was just my parents and my sister! My sweetie is coming to see me in 3 days! We have engagement photos booked with a photographer we have been going to since I was a kid!

I am starting to get nervous as well because we have not received any confirmation that the package arrived! I keep thinking Christmas was the delay! Oh well! As long as it gets there!! The NOA1 needs to arrive before the end of January as my fiance will be moving to another state! (Still within CSC area) whistling.gif I can't wait to see the new place! Anyways, only a few more days left for 2008! Man it went by quick!!

I know the feeling. Patricia and I filled out some rough drafts early in November shortly after I proposed. We finished them up during her visit here the first week of December. All in all it was a 1/4 pound, (118 grams) letter that went off as our labor of love.

Your on it as I can see you on it, ha. When you input you timeline data it adds you to Igors list.

Luke and Deanna

Well Congrats on sending it out. That is one small step closer to your goal. I hope it arrives soon for you, as long as you can track it at least you know when it gets there. Although they are pretty slow at updating the tracking site.

Deanna was almost a little sad to let it go after we put so much work into it.

Alright then guys, thanks for keeping up posted and for updating your timeline. It's kind of nice to see yourself on the list and check to see what number you are and how many places you have climbed.

We are checking the mail everyday to waiting on our NOA1. Hope it arrives soon.

Luke and Deanna

Congrats to you as well! I felt the same way when I sent it out, a little sad because I spent so much time on it with my fiance. The lady at the post office said it would take a few days for the package to show up on the USPS tracking.

How often does Igor's list update? I don't see myself on the list yet and I added a timeline.

Hope yours and our NOA1 arrive soon!

Andrea

Hey that's great guys.

Well use tomorrow to get it all perfect. Check it over, make sure it's all in order and your cheque/money order is the correct amount. Deanna did a really good job of organizing ours and tabbed it all out into sections to make it easier for the adjudicator. We sent it via USPS express which was supposed to arrive the next day by 3 but arrived the next day so we got our money back.

Good luck getting it sent and let us know when you send it.

Luke and Deanna

Ohh, and make sure you fill in your time line when you do. The you can see yourself on igors list.

The I-129F is in the mail!! He decided to send it today! kicking.gif kicking.gif I keep worrying myself that I missed something! I need to calm down or else i will go wacko by 6 months!! Even though today is a Saturday and it probably won't go anywhere, at least its out of our hands now!! I think he just sent it priority delivery confirmatinon and tracking, the lady told him it may not get there by Christmas Eve, but if it does then all the better! It really sucks because where he lives and where I used to its worthless to spend the money to get it next day, you always have to add an extra day when figuring out arrival time to and from. Anywhos I will update my timeline!!

Hey does anyone know if the Service Centers are open on Christmas Eve? I am assuming not on Christmas Day, but back open on 26th (Boxing Day for Canadians...lol) Just wondering because if the package arrived by Wednesday by USPS Express that would be cool!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportshow much money you spend on your wedding just curios
Damn I took too long to edit...

Just wanted to add:

The biggest bite out of our budget is of course the reception, no rental fees or minimum F&B revenues, but per plate its not too bad, we will be lucky if we have 60 show, but then there is alcohol, bottles of wine, soda, coffee, rental of a projector for our slideshow. The other big bite is photography and DJ which in total about 1400. We found a photographer that provides all day coverage for $700 with a CD in high resolution included, and online viewing for family and friends. The online viewing is very important to us as both of our families do not live in NE, and to be able to share pictures of the day. It will take us a while to decide which ones we want in a custom book or an enlargement, and have the $$ to do it with AOS, even then I can DIY the coffee table book on Shutterfly, and have it on our own personal website. The enlargements i can decide on later and they will be sent to a professional lab via the photographer.

My fiance spent about $2K on my engagement ring, but not including the diamond as that was a gift from his mother. The 2K was for a white gold bridal set so I already have my wedding band with channel set diamonds, and my engagement ring also has channel set to match. The diamond itself after looking at the appraisal was worth quite a bit, I was shocked! Enough to buy a decent used car! laughing.gif That reminds me I need to order his band! Which I think was around $500!

I think in total including dress, accessories etc, rings it will come to around 10K. Our families are splitting most of the bill. I am in the midst of planning right now, and we are planning for a wedding with max 80 guests, with lucky 50-60 actually show as its an OOT wedding for all involved, but we have a small family thank goodness. When we first started talking about getting married it would just be a JOP wedding, well neither families wanted that so we are doing the bells and whistles in October. My fiance and I are ready to throw our hands up in the air and say "whos wedding is it", putting your foot down doesn't leave everybody happy, but oh well. My advice, put your foot down and demand what you want or else you will regret it, it sets the precedence for your relationship with the inlaws/parents in the marriage.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHow can we help Estadia (Sara)??
Ditto! I would sign a petition!!

This is a bit OT: I know the media has not been interested in the past but....

I had a thought while flipping through channels tonight, my fiance watches Lou Dobbs on CNN. Lou Dobbs is always straightforward and critical of government and its inefficiencies, I have heard stories of him investigating about other federal departments. I wonder if he would be interested in publisizing USCIS. I mean Sara's petition sat for ONE YEAR just waiting for someone to send out an RFE!! Not to mention the increase in fees, decrease in efficiency, employees losing documents, whole petitions, medicals!! customer service agents who don't have a clue, FBI backlogged, first in first out I think not!! Anyways, I think it might be a good way to bring up Sara's case!
