IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - April 2012
Wow, I went home, got to work, and there's like 15 pages of new posts....can't keep up!

I have a REALLY silly question, please forgive me, but can somebody tell me you you quote people inside your own response? I can't seem to figure out how to do it...

In response to Laure&Colin, I just logged in to the Payment Portal, and the payment still says "In Process"....and I know I definitely didn't click the send button twice. I just wrote an email to the NVC to see if they can fix the issue, but we'll see how long it takes for them to get back to me...

Thanks again, everybody!

Mushy is like lovey-dovey or warm or sensitive....it's a good thing, don't worry!

Called up NVC....they said it's not showing up as either paid or unpaid, so I should wait 24 hours and if nothing happens, email them to explain the problem. I'm crossing my fingers that it gets sorted out on it's own in 24 hours!

Saylin, I am in IE and haven't tried paying before. Maybe I will give it a day and try again tomorrow. Don't know what to think...

Thanks to all of your for the help...I called back and got a nice guy on the phone, and he told me that yes, they did have my email in fact, but they did NOT have my hubby's email address. Thank goodness I called back, otherwise who knows when we would've gotten everything!

Saylin...in response to how they could've had my hubby's email address....I could be wrong but I think we had to put it in the G325a...or no?

Anyways, he also said that it would be 2-4 weeks before I'd get invoiced!!!!! That seems like a long time! But I am hoping you guys are right and I will get it in a few days

Well, I have finally gotten my Case number and IIN, wooohooooo! However, I have a few questions for Saylin or anyone that can help because I got a mean lady on the phone with NVC and she made me really nervous and tongue-tied.

1. I tried to give her my and my spouse's email addresses and she said she didn't need them because she already has them, and everything will be emailed to us. So should I try calling back or just leave it at this (the lady didn't even let me read her our email addresses).

2. I am about to send in the DS3032 via email, but how will I know if they have accepted it? Do they ALWAYS send a rejection email if it is not accepted? If so, how soon after receiving it?

3. What should my next step be after sending the DS3032? I just logged in to the Payment Portal, but it won't let me select either the AOS Fee or IV Fee. Should I wait a few days?

Thanks!

Just called again, they received the case over a week and a half ago, and still no case number. Does anyone else with a similar NOA2 date have their case number yet??
Thanks!

Hi everybody,

I've been lurking so far, but now am going to finally ask a question. Sorry if it's already answered somewhere in the thread, but I've only made it to like page 25....there is too much to read!

Anyways, I got my NOA on March 14th, and just called the NVC and they said they received my file on the 21st, but that they wouldn't have a case number for me for a least another 1-2 weeks. Is this normal?

Thanks!

I feel the same as Kelad...got the NOA2 last week, but am overwhelmed at how long this thread is already! Thanks, though Saylin, for putting it together! I found the FAQ particularly helpful!

@saylin: Ooooouch! I selected 1st checkbox but not the 2nd checkbox. Though I have added 2011, 2010, 2009 IRS Tax Transcripts and I have also mentioned this in my cover letter. Is there a possibility that NVC may issue a checklist for this mistake?

I doubt it...my father did the same as you in his AOS, and it was fine! So breathe easy :-)

They're not applying for an IR-1/CR-1 case where visas are unlimited per year. They're applying for an employment-based green card in which there are a LIMITED number per year, so they have priority dates and such and have to worry about retrogression. Nothing anyone else in this thread has to worry about.

Hahaha, thanks, PHEW! I sort of just assumed everyone in this thread was doing the CR1/IR1, so I was a bit puzzled. Saylin, on average between a case closed and interview date....how long is it usually? About 2 months?

Thanks!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - June 2012

Called today. My case is completed!!! Unfortunately my category retrogressed for July and now I need to wait for September, so they can schedule me interview in October.
I sent the IV package on June 14th, was at NVC on June 15th and today the case was complete. 1 week exactly.

Saylin, thank you so much!

Wait, what?? I am also confused about what you mean with your case was "retrogressed"....your case is complete and the interview will in OCTOBER? Oh that makes me nervous, that's so late!!!

Yup, sounds like your IV package was reviewed and accepted, if the checklist is asking for your response to the I-864 checklist. I suggest calling up NVC to confirm ;)

Thanks, you're a superstar

In the scheme of things, Saylin, what you do here, helping us come to the States, or to bring family to the States, is a really big deal. You help us change our lives, doing this, in ways that will effect generations. It is weird: it is HUGE. It is excellent. THANK YOU for your help.

DITTO!!!

I just got ANOTHER checklist. I think it's a "fake" checklist, because they say that they received the IV package, but they are waiting for our response to the I-864 checklist.

So...........to all of you "pros"...........does that mean that the IV package was approved? Now I just have to send the response to the other checklist and we should be set? *Fingers crossed*

Thanks!

Lemayz,
When I called yesterday the operater actually said this case is complete as of June 19 then went on to talk about it being in queue for an interview date and that an e-mail with the interview details will be sent when the date is chosen. She said to call back third week of July for interview date but I'm thinking to give it about a week then go back to calling daily asking for it. Saylin has mentioned numerous times that is a lie and interviews are scheduled all month long.
Good luck to you and all!
[/quote]

Thanks!

Case completed @ NVC!!!

Congratulations!

NVC received our IV packet on June 12 and exactly 1 week later they accepted it and told me case completed - June 19.

They received ours on June 12th as well, and still no news :-( Hopefully it will come soon!

They just do that when they get to one package before the other - which is almost always. They don't even bother to see if the package they ask for in the checklist is in their building. Even in our case, we sent the AOS and IV packages together, and we still got a false checklist.

Same exact thing happened to me....sent both packets together, and got a false checklist for the IV one.

Just finished my medical in Montreal, didn't take too long. My results may be ready on Friday, or if not I'll have to go Tuesday morning before my interview to get them (Monday being a holiday here) let's hope I don't have syphilis (haha)! Everything else was fine!

Congrats!

Question for all of you.....the NVC will never tell me perse that my case is closed, right? I have to call them to make sure of that? Also....about how long after you sent in the stuff requested on a checklist (and assuming everything is ok), did you guys get case completed?

Thanks!

Grats. The IV bill should be invoiced within the next few days.

Saylin, help, please, I don't know what to do with my checklist!?!? Do I need to resubmit the entire I-864?
Thanks!

Oh no!! I should get my case number within a couple of weeks... Any thoughts? Do you happen to know more or less how long that stuff takes?

Why wouldn't the foreign exclusion forms work?

Amenspanglish....I called NVC and they told me to send an explanation letter as to why I don't have W2s. I requested a transcript of my taxes and will send that in addition to an explanation. I'll let you know if that works out or not...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - June 2012

My husband and I got a similar checklist, we didn't think we needed to send proof of current income for the same reasons - he didn't make enough and we had a joint sponsor. We sent a letter from one of his clients as well as a paystub from our joint sponsor (they didn't request it but just incase) and a letter explaining why we couldn't provide them with one other thing they had asked for. We did not send in a new I864 and all was accepted no problem.

Thanks for that....I will send an employment letter from my employer abroad, and hopefully that will be enough.

I dont have W2s because I made foreign income too. Is this problem? I haven't submitted my docs yet.

I don't know!! I didn't think it was, but apparently it is. I think I am going to write to the NVC trying to explain the situation. Unless Saylin has any suggestions.....?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - June 2012
Hi everyone, I have been away for awhile, but I finally sent in the papers and now have a received a checklist :-( :crying:

Now I am hoping for some of your help!

It says that I am missing the following:

[x] It appears that there is no proof of current employment (a recently dated job letter or pay stub), or
self-employment status (a recently dated letter on business letterhead or a business license).
[x] The listed income tax documents/IRS statements for the years marked below are missing/incomplete
(if you have lost any of the requested tax information, contact your local IRS office to obtain a copy)
(Only Federal returns (not state or local) are acceptable unless the sponsor's income was earned in Puerto
Rico.)
• W-2 forms are missing/incomplete for the year(s):
[x] 2011 [ ] 2010 [ ] 2009 [ ] 2008.

I KNOW I did not send proof of current employment, but that's because I didn't think I needed to (I'm not even remotely close to making the minimum income so it doesn't matter how much my income is). So...was I still supposed to send it?

Secondly, I did not send my W2 form because I do not have W2 forms. I have an independent job in the US that I do via internet, so in that sense I am self-employed. I also work for a company here in Chile, but for that I don't get W2s...only the 2555 form, for Foreign Income Exemption. I had sent in all my Schedules and the 2555 form to show my tax info for 2011. So what do I do?

Lastly, the instructions say: The checklist below indicates missing or incomplete documents. In order to make corrections you will need to download a new form at www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov. You will need to complete and submit a new form with the changes noted below. Please provide all requested documents.

Does this mean I need to redo my entire I-864? I called the NVC and the lady (very mean lady) told me that I don't need to redo the form, but I am confused because of the above instructions.

Thanks so much!

US Embassy and Consulate Discussioncost of all the visa forms
I filed through the embassy in Santiago, Chile and it cost me $355 to file, $400 at the final interview, and the medical exam costs about $150...expensiveee.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhat does the medical exam consist of?
It seems that medical exams vary from country to country, but I'm not sure. Anyway, the medical exam sheet says they are going to do a physical exam, a blood exam, x-rays and an HIV exam, and at the bottom it says you should be prepared to pay more than the $140 they charge for all of those exams in case they require more. Has anyone ever been asked for anything else and had to pay more? A urine exam seems like something they would ask for, or is that included in the physical exam? I'm just trying to figure out how much cash my husband needs to take, since he doesn't have a credit card. How much did it cost you guys? If anyone has had any experiences in Santiago please reply.
