Sorry to jump into the conversation but you will have the most beautiful drive! My fiancé is in Oregon so I'm moving over in a few weeks (hopefully!) and last time I was there we drove from LA to Portland via coastal roads. It really is an incredible drive in places!

Hi..    Yeah, we done the same trip last summer but in the opposite direction and it was amazing, looking forward to it again!

When we were going to marry in the states, I had planned to do a US road-trip - maybe down one or the other coast. I still think that would make a brilliant honeymoon!

We're already doing that just to get to the wedding.. cool.png ...  my fiancee lives in santa barbara ca but we're getting married in her home town portland oregon sept 21st!

To  my mind, that would be extremely dangerous even if possible. Having a wedding but not "an actual wedding" have been discussed numerous times on VJ and the verdict seems to be that if it looks like you had a wedding, you risk not being able to adjust. When you file for the next stage you will need proof and if you slip up at any point and name a date where you were not in the country on a K1, it could cause you big problems. The limitations of this visa are you come, you stay and you get married, and you wait.

I'm sorry but I think you will have to miss your friends wedding - I am sure they will understand. Your future with your spouse is the most important thing. Send them an extra nice present instead, as you will be saving airfare (which is what some of my relatives have been doing for me which is very appreciated smile.png). Perhaps you could make plans to share a visit with them later on when travelling is possible again!

Yeah, i thought it was a bit of a long shot but thought i'd ask the question anyway.  My friends totally understand, as there on the same boat but waiting till they get married, then applying for the spouse visa, his girlfriend lives in New York. We're talking about a honeymoon together, somewhere nice in the states!

Thanks Zoe, i really appreciate your help.

If you leave before you have Advance Parole granted, your adjustment of status is considered abandoned. Your K1 is void when you use it to enter the first time. It would mean starting all over with a spouse petition and visa application (since you would be married). If you want to attend the wedding in Ireland, your entry and wedding would have to be changed until after Ireland.

Yeah, that's not an option, our wedding is all planned for the 21st Sept...

Does your K1 visa activate electronically on entry or could i enter as a tourist, have my ceremony without registering it, go back for my friends wedding and then activate the K1 on my next return?

That sounds a bit too complicated though!

Hi..

Two weeks after my wedding my best friend is getting married in Ireland!

Will i be able to leave the country and go to the wedding or do i need to wait till i have my adjustment of status?

How long does that take?

Cheers

United KingdomTax returns for K1 Interview

London requires proof of income or assets from the sponsor for the I-134. A tax return with W2 is one good way to prove income. The latest year is enough, not three years.

London does not mandate any particular way to prove income, so with other good proof, a tax return will not be required.

Yeah, my fiancee has only been back and working in the US for the last year but i have everthing else i.e. I-134, letter from her employer, pay slips/stubs and bank details.  I just keep reading more things and panicking!

Thanks, appreciate it.

United KingdomTax returns for K1 Interview

Hi,

Been reading all the info on people attending there interviews, as ours is coming up on the 16th August and a few of them have mentioned handing over tax returns and a W-2 form.

Is this something they will ask for from my fiancee or is it just another piece of info that will help but not essential?  I've read all the Embassy/visa websites and not one of them mention tax returns!

Could someone clarify please?

Thanks...

United KingdomMore issues with new courier system

Hi,

Been reading all the problems with the new courier system on the usvisa-info website.

I registered on it last night and tried to pay the $30 to send my visa to my home address and received an error during the transaction, which said there was a problem. I then recieved an email saying the payment was successful followed by six emails quoting all my details but saying the payment total is $0. My credit card has not beed deducted of the money, so i'm now wondering the best way to deal with this? I called the centre and spoke with a lady but she didn't have a clue what was going on our what i was talking about!

I paid my MRV fee by phone on the 24th July and my interview is next Friday 16th, so going by all the other posts i'm in the transition period and i'm presuming that's why the issues are occurring.

Any further knowledge or information would be appreciated?

Thanks.

Stew

United KingdomCourier. Contacts. Changes. Confusion.

I paid the MRV fee before the new system started so I paid over the phone, at my interview they told me someone would call me from the courier service and I paid over the phone for that too and it was delivered next day.

Yeah, i paid my MRV fee before the system as well, so hopefully i will be the same situation for me then and will just need to query it at the Emabassy next week.

Thanks, really appreciate it.

Good luck with the rest!

United KingdomCourier. Contacts. Changes. Confusion.

Hi there, I had my interview Tuesday and got the call yesterday too, passport was delivered today. Anyway it might not be useful, but when I picked up the call they left me a number to contact if there were any problems so might be worth trying this one to get through to the right section? 0871 265 6666  Hope it helps!

Hi,

Sorry to bother you and congrats on your visa but could i ask how you paid for the courier?

I tried to do it online last night for my interview next Friday but the system said there was an error whilst doing it and i'm now not sure if it went through or not, as there is no details coming up on the login on the usvisa-info website.

Thanks

Ask in the embassy forums. People who've already move from Russia can help you out, I imagine. :)
