Now my only worry is if they will accept the certified copy with the seal. It says to please submit the original, but my original does not have a seal and looks very unofficial. Ugh, I should have sent it anyway just to be safe.

I kinda feel like a court-certified document is considered an original, for the reasons you suggested, fire, etc.  I could have never sent an original.  I never even got one when I got married, or divorced.  Even my "original" birth certificate is a copy from the state of California.  I'm anxious for an update to this.

Can someone please smack my hand and keep me from reading about how much time our missing document will add to our process. I have read that it can take anywhere from 4 weeks up to several months. I just started crying when I read that. 4 weeks would be fine since we would like for him to POE in 7 weeks, but longer than that will be torture. I was about to order our invitations and book our hotel for the honeymoon, but now I am scared to do that because who knows how long this will take. I am having a bad day and being a Debbie Downer :crying:

*smack*  It's going to be fine!  This isn't Pakistan, where you sit on AP forEVER (no offense to Pakistani applicants!).  I would perhaps hold off on the invitations until it's resolved, but you have plenty of time for those.  :)  We're here for you.  (((((hugs))))) visa twin.  :D

Well the arrest wont show up but the fact that I was fingerprinted may be seen if they do a search......

If I resubmit a ds160.....I think I have to do a whole new one......I don't think I can resubmit it as I already signed it.....

http://www.visajourn...-questions-faqs

specifically:

Correcting Answers on a Submitted DS-160
  • The U.S. Embassy or Consulate where I went for my visa interview denied my application because my DS-160 contained errors or was incomplete. What does this mean and what do I need to do next?

DS-160 applications submitted before April 1, 2010 cannot be reopened, and therefore, you must complete and submit a new DS-160.

The Embassy or Consulate should reopen your DS-160 submitted after April 1, 2010 if your application is denied for this reason and ask you to correct it, as explained below:

  •
  • DS-160 applications submitted on or after November 1, 2010: Enter your application ID number and answer additional questions as prompted to access and correct your application.
  • DS-160 applications submitted on or after April 1, 2010, but before November 1, 2010: Enter your barcode or confirmation number into the Application ID field and answer additional questions as prompted to access and correct your application.

  • After I have corrected or completed my DS-160 application, do I need to schedule a new appointment or return to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate?

Contact the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where you applied for specific instructions.

It's a difficult situation because at the interview you have to take the oath to say everything in the paperwork is true ect ect so if you were to take the oath and then they question you about it, I'm sure that would cause problems! Yet on the other hand it may go completely un noticed, and mentioning it may just cause yourself hassle. I'd just be worried about it coming back to bite me in the #### in the future, I know during the AP after the interview your name is run through all the police databases, homeland security stuff ect, so that's the only time it may actually come up? :/

I forgot about the oath.  Sailor's right.  If you can do it, I'd resubmit the DS160.  I wouldn't, however, reschedule the interview.  Johan said they can change the information right in the computer while they're asking questions.

So I messed up badly....i just remembered last night after reading reviews that when I was 20 I had gotten into trouble with the police......I completely forgot about this till last night.....i could not remember the details so I went to the police headquarters this morning to see if I was arrested and get details ....... in 96 I got in trouble for shoplifting, the case is now archived and in 2005 my prints were destroyed..... I did put no to arrests in the DS 160.....my questions is will this propose a problem for me on Monday? Should I say I forgot until now? Should I skip the interview and try to reschedule after I get documents from the police proving the case was archived etc.

Any help would be much appreciated

Did you get any kind of print out from the police stating this information?  complete honestly is the best policy, and IMHO, I think you should NOT tell them unless they ask, and if they do, you tell them that it was so long ago (18 years!) that you didn't remember it until this weekend when you were preparing for your upcoming interview, and that as soon as you remembered, you went straight to the police to find out what you could about it for when you were asked.   I just discussed this with Johan, and he said that the questions he was being asked were straight from the DS160.  He was arrested about 15 years ago, and he and I really stewed over what to put on the DS160 since it didn't show up on the police cert, the charges had been dropped, etc.  In the end, he clicked, yes, he had been arrested on the DS160, and then he went and got a print out from the police and had it with him, but it wasn't asked for.  The interviewer simply asked and he gave the circumstances.  In your case, IDK if it's too late to resubmit your DS160, but it's maybe possible.  A box appears and you give the circumstances related to the arrest.

Congrats everyone on approvals and getting them in the mail!!! So exciting! While we have been waiting for Ben's interview to roll around we have been finally making wedding plans!! We just booked it yesterday and we are getting married July 26th on a beach on Lake Michigan. I have an appointment to go dress shopping tomorrow, we have already booked a place for our wedding night and our honeymoon has already been booked!!! Now the 23rd needs to hurry up!!!! Lol!!!

Nikki, have a GREAT time tomorrow!  I lived in Michigan for 17 years; how am I just noticing that you are in SE MI?  First, we lived near Traverse City (gorgeous area!), then in Flint (not all that great).  Lake Mi is lovely.  I'm excited for you!

LOL Ok so here it is...

Leave it to me to be the first one to get a 221g LOL :). They are needing the original of my divorce decree which I do not have so I sent Andre a certified copy. Little did I know, the courthouse does not give a raised seal unless you asked for it. SO...I went today and got a new one with the raised seal and sent it Express to him today...It is guaranteed to get there by Thursday. I am a little sad, but keeping the faith that they will issue the visa as soon as they get this stupid thing! Luckily, we are not on a time crunch really and our goal of him coming here is still attainable. Everything else was fine, but they did not keep his passport. They said to Fed Ex it to them with the new divorce decree.

UGHHHHH :(

Is that Montreal-specific?  I didn't have to supply anything about me except for my tax and income stuff.   :(  I'm sorry for the delay.   :(  Happily, like the others have said, it's a quick and easy fix. :)  Go you, for being on the ball.  I agree, this process makes our relationships that much stronger.  :)

By the way..................GOOD LUCK TOMORROW!!! Can you believe we are already at this point of the process? It's crazy and went by wayyyy faster than I thought it would. Please update when you get a chance! I know I will be super anxious to hear about it, after all...you are my visa twin :D

I can't believe we're at this point already too.  Johan and I were talking today about how we were hoping he'd be here by NOVEMBER when we first filed back on February 1st.  We were so hoping to have them here by the beginning of the new school year.  It looks like that'll be happening.  I hate to even say it, but I'm so glad we were processed through California.  I feel so terrible for those who are sent to TSC (based on timelines from a few years ago, California was taking upwards of 8 months for NOA2's).  I wish everyone had the same processing times.  :(

I'll update ASAP, visa twin.  ;)

I booked my ticket way back in Feb, so you could say that we are gamblers! I payed a little extra for a ticket that could be adjusted whenever I please so that way the ticket price would stay the same. Good luck for your upcoming interview and be sure to let us know how it goes!

Whoa!  You ARE gamblers.  LOL

for flying in, we're actually thinking about July 10th or so.  Not entirely sure, but that's where we're aiming.  That'd be a month from now.  We won't book anything until AFTER tomorrow's interview, but still.  It's a gamble to buy airline tickets that're about $1000 each.   I know they tell you NOT to quit jobs or buy airline tickets, or sell anything, but we're making plans anyway.

I asked him to call me before he went into the embassy.  that'll be about 2:30 am my time.  he DID say he'll call me afterward, regardless.  Abby, based on what you said Andre' is thinking about pulling with you, I asked Johan NOT to tease me or pretend it didn't go well.  LOL  He promised he wouldn't.  I so love him.  <3   The paperwork he's taking with him is 4" thick!  lol   I can't wait to hear all about it myself.  :)

been surfing sites for airfare.  We've been stewing over the heinous price hike from June to July.  :(  Today, I found Budgetair.ie and their prices are GOOD!  IDK if you can use it for other countries other not, but man, we SOOO want to jump on the airfare listed right now.

We are clearly gambling people (we booked our wedding for October 11th before the embassy even had our petition!), so we're entertaining the idea of booking flights after the interview.  Thoughts?  (Ireland takes a week, typically, between interview and visa in hand)

Those of you who have been approved, what did you provide with your I134? What did they ask for? Did they look at it right then and tell you if you had sufficient evidence?

We're going through Dublin, and we can update on Monday, but here's what I sent home with him back to Ireland:  my last 3 pay stubs (I get paid once a month), a letter from my district stating where I am on the pay scale and also that my position is tenured, my last 3 years of tax records (I printed a copy of my tax transcripts so that I wouldn't have to include W2's).

We're more concerned about the "proof of relationship" part of it, although I've read that Dublin doesn't even take it.  I guess we'll see on Monday.  Honestly, I'm so glad we didn't have to wait for a few weeks between notification and actual interview.  I'm more and more nervous as time goes by.

On a side note: school finished today for the year, so now I can concentrate on wedding plans, closet cleaning to make room for 2 more household members, and getting ready for AOS.  ;)

today, CEAC status was updated, so that gives me hope.  Plus, he's discovered that he can talk to a live person until 8pm, so he's calling.

As for the SSN#, yes, he will apply for it asap.  Our landlords are a retired married couple, so they don't have to necessarily go by hard and fast rules about having a SSN to be on a lease.  I've lived here for 4 years, and our plan is to live here another 4, roughly, so that my stepson can finish school where he'll begin it.  My stepson...  wow.   This isn't just a surreal "some day" anymore, is it?  :D

I have always been curious as to why photos together would be considered secondary.  I can visit a country (have dozens of stamps in the passport) without meeting anyone so how is that actually considered proof that we met someone?  I have restaurant receipts, ATM receipts, boarding passes, hotel receipts, etc. without meeting anyone.  Hard to argue photos together with that person though.  Always made me wonder.

I was thinking that a photo could be more than 2 years old.  The requirement is not that you've met in person ever, but that it's been in the previous 24 months.  But the photoshop answer is also perfectly reasonable.

Tina and JohanFemaleIreland2014-06-03 12:25:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFebruary 2014 filers

Here is what I sent: I sent a letter explaining the evolution of our relationship, from how we met online, to meeting in person in Dublin.  I included a photocopy (b&w) of my Irish passport stamp and a copy of my itinerary from Aer Lingus.  I didn't save my boarding passes because I didn't realize at the time that I needed proof.  I have since gotten a copy of my boarding pass from the airline (just in case of an RFE).  I also sent in email confirmations from companies where activities were booked (from both our email accounts): Dublin ghost tour, New Years' Eve plans with the city for our kids that required registration, hockey tickets for a game in Belfast.  I think the best evidence for us being in the same place at the same time was the hockey tickets in his name, but the jersey receipt on the day of the game in my name.  We also took a picture in front of the Dublin ghost bus, but as secondary evidence, that could have been years ago.  We front loaded a lot of stuff since our timeline was pretty short.  I think receipts from the same time/place make the most compelling evidence that you met.   :)  good luck!  keep us posted!!

Ok, so does anyone know what would keep the Consulate from scheduling an interview if they've had everything they needed including medical results for weeks!? Ben just got an email response saying they haven't even scheduled it yet!!! I don't understand why some people get their interview scheduled as soon as the medical results come in and ours have been in and nothing! I feel helpless seeing READY on ceac (plus seeing it update like 5 times) and my fiancé and I can't do a thing about it!

What the heck is up with that?  I'm sorry you're dealing with this.  :(  You know we know all too well the frustration that comes with this process.  (((((hugs)))))

his medical went well, I think.  He was able to pick up his results within a week.  He also called after his appt and requested a copy of his immunizations, which they gave him, no problem.  :)  They also administered the ones he needed.  Nothing out of the ordinary for his son, either.   :)  He mailed out his readiness form just yesterday, so I'll keep you posted on the turn around time for his interview.  I have also updated the Irish embassy info with what they sent him in his packet 3; it seemed outdated.  :)   one more thing: although he doesn't think he'll need it, he got a signed permission letter from his son's mother stating that she gives her consent for her son to relocated to the US.  We are ready to roll, people!  Now we just need the interview date!  :D

You can send 20kg(44lbs) package for 80euro from Ireland to the US. :)

That's good to know!  He's been looking into shipping companies, and was told you need a broker stateside??  I told him this morning he should just pop it in the mail.  :)  He did leave some stuff here when he was here in April: shoes, a jacket, etc.  He wants to buy some stuff after he gets here (electronics), as the shipping is cheaper.  I'll mention eBay to him.  If it were me, I'd be craigslisting everything, but he has told me there isn't really a market for used stuff there?  I can't even comprehend how that's possible.

I also have a question about shipping your stuff to the US...   what are people doing to relocate?  liquidating?  shipping items?  giving stuff away?   We've been debating back and forth how to handle this.

I love seeing all these posts about interviews and approvals! And also hearing people are making travel plans! I'm praying we hear something about our interview soon. It's been a few weeks now since they've had everything they needed including medical results...yet no letter and they won't tell us anything through email! It's getting very frustrating! And I'm losing hope that he'll be here for my cousins wedding :*(

Can't wait to read all about it!  :)

Johan is STILL waiting for his documents from South Africa to be able to send in his readiness form!  :clock:   His tracked package has been sitting in Johannesburg for 2 weeks now.  But the best part of all this wait is his mom sent him some certified copies of the same papers via regular mail, and he got those today.  So he's sending in his stuff to the Dublin embassy and hoping for the best.  This delay has set us back at least 3 weeks.  NOT happy about it.  :protest:
