I started planning our ceremony in August - as soon as we had an interview date. We married in Nov and had about 100 people wedding and reception all in one place. Now we are considering having a party back in the UK once AP is received, but we find ourselves in the same situation, wedding to be able to travel....

mmm I would pass on the poconos.... The Grand Canyon was fun, but I'm not really a nature girl - I would've been happy with one night there. We did do a helicopter ride, which was fun. But take me back to my resort!!

CanadaHoneymoon suggestions
We went to Palm Springs, CA - stayed at the Hyatt Grand Champions for 4 nights- beautiful resort. Then we drove from there to the Grand Canyon, it took about 8 hours and we made some stops along the way. We stayed 2 nights at the Thunderbird lodge (it was ok) and then onto Sedona staying at the Hilton for our final 2 nights. We then drove down to Phoenix to fly home.

Neither one of us had been to the southwest before. I would think other good suggestions are Hawaii, Napa Valley, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands. If we got married in the summer, I wouldve like to have gone to Santa Fe New Mexico.

Where did everyone else go?

Yeah, it isn't a big deal. Even IF someone did use your credit card numbers, you just call the bank and tell them these are not your charges. They refund them immediately and you just need to fill out a form - you are never out any money.

I had my wallet stolen in Hawaii last summer, they got all credit and debit cards, and I wasn't out one penny.

Yes, definitely call the bank and confirmed it was cashed. You might even be able to do it online if you have your receipt number.

this could work but it could also go wrong. You have to show that you have not abandoned your residence in the US. Just returning for a visit every 6 month could look suspicious. Having the re-entry permit would help with proving that you have not intended to abandon your residence but are just temporarily out of the country.


I kept my permanent residence in the UK alive by doing this. I was living/working in the US while my fiance was still living in the UK. When I went back to visit the UK, they would always ask - are you still resident here. I always said yes and we still had our house here. I never had any problem - because in the UK at least, they never really know how long you have been gone. They just know when you enter, you could've been gone for 2 days or 2 months.

I would def keep at it through your congress person. Someone I work with had difficulty getting his wife's passport back (she was changing her maiden name) and he said his congressman's office called him every other day with an update.

So granted, I know it isnt the exactly the same thing/agency - but he was very impressed how seriously the congressman took the matter.

Your case is sitting on someone’s desk. Patience is the name of the game. I know you are going through the VSC and things generally move faster, but you are still in a very good position.

What I did was plan out a calendar with all the dates based on the MAXIMUM timelines. That way when you receive something earlier, it is much better.

You can't always compare your case to others "But if May filers start seeing NOA2's before me, I'm seriously going to start panicking. " Do not take this approach, it will drive you crazy. Other members sent their applications the EXACT same day as me, through the same service center and their fiancés were from the same country and I received my NOA2 10 days earlier than them. So you cannot compare your case to others, you will drive yourself crazy.


Facts: Recieved NOA1 from VSC on March 16th
Received RFE on april 16th
RFE was simple reaffirmation that IMbRA did not apply to me
Mailed RFE back to VSC on May 2nd, email on the 4th that processing resumed
Official last "touch" on May 9th
Have talked to the folks at VSC some things I learned: Case has been on adjudicators desk since 5/23, and another today I got "Case is being worked on as right now, that's all I can tell you"

Other information: I have visited my fiance 4 times in her country. She's been here twice all in the past year. She visited both times on a tourist visa and was 100% compliant with those visas.

I guess i'm just really frustrated I haven't got my NOA2 yet from VSC. The only thing keeping me sane is the fact that little or nothing seems to be coming the last week for NOA2 and NOA1's from VSC. But if May filers start seeing NOA2's before me, I'm seriously going to start panicking. If I hear nothing by tuesday I plan to call VSC again, and if I have nothing by thursday, I think i'm going to give my senator a try..

Anybody have any theories on why i'm taking so long?

Thanks!! Yeah, don't let them get to you. Just keep trying the NSC - I got an unhelpful woman a couple of days ago telling me it could take up to 90 DAYS to come from the CSC. I was like well, normally a couple of weeks right? She said NO - 90 DAYS! I just said thank you and hung up and tonight I got the nicest guy ever, so just keep calling!! Good luck all :D


Awww congrats to you guys!! Seems they're riding out those 14 days as CSC. I have so many words I'd love to give them..... My patience is decreasing daily.

Congrats! I just called and mine was received today as well!! The guy was so nice and told me "they don't stay here long!" Call back in a week to 10 days and we can tell you if it was sent. So exciting!!

At last! my fiance got our NOA1 in the snail mail today - we posted our forms to nebraska on 6th march, it said they received it in california on 14th march and posted the NOA1 on 19th march, so a whopping 18 day wait just to get an NOA1, hmm that's about the same length of time it takes a Vermont filer to get their NOA2! ha ha



I mailed mine on March 7th to NSC and also received NOA1 today via snail mail. Also, going through London! I'd be curious to see if our timelines remain the same!!

I finally got through to the NVC and still nothing. And THEN she tells me it can take up to 90 days to go from the CSC to the NVC. I said well it is most likely a couple of weeks right? And she just no, up to 90 days. I was like why would it take 90 days to go from California to New Hampshire? Well that is something you will have to take up with the CSC. I just said thank you and that I will keep calling....

I was also last touched on 5/29, and I called NVC today to speak to someone and they told me it arrived today. So I would try calling tomorrow! I had to call about 30 times to get through to a live person though.

Same here. Was also touched yesterday and today is a public holiday. They have been known to work and get paid OT. So it is not unrealistic that they are working over the weekend.

Yes... but you are supposed to file based on where you live, not where you work. And no matter what address you use as your mailing address, you are still supposed to give the one where you actually live on the G-325a.... so it would be a choice between lying on that and claiming to live at your parents' (lying to USCIS... bad idea!) or putting your real place of residence and ending up with your petition delayed/lost/ignored because you filed to the wrong service center! I think filing to Nebraska as per the instructions was definitely the right thing to do. The wait doesn't seem so bad... once it's over! :)


Well, where I would "live" goes to the VSC, where I would work is the NSC.

I am not debating what is the right thing to do, obviously the right thing would be the correct filing center. But I am just curious if anyone thinks it is indeed possible or if anyone has ever considered or done it. Thanks for all your input!!

You file based on the permanent resident location of the USC - it has nothing to do with what country the fiance is from. There is no way to file at VSC if you don't live in the region because, as posted, you provide your background information and it would have to match up!


Well it is quite possible to live in one area and work in another. I have people in my company who work during the week in Chicago and fly home to DC every weekend. I could've always claimed the same....
