Congrats on getting logged in Ken and Kate!

To update my status, I was logged in on May 6th!

Also, I went for my medical today in Toronto, so here's my review:

Got to the building 145 Front St. E. at 6:40am, as soon as you walk in its the office to your left. Once the day saw me she asked for my Letter From Embassy and Case Number, took it from me and told me to wait in the waiting room.

6:55am got called in to an office, very nice people, asked for My Passport, pictures, immunization records and fee, signed a form, got my receipt and was sent over to the next room to get my x-rays done.

When I got to the x-ray waiting area, there was already a family of 5 waiting and a man, so I figured that that family must of gotten there at 6:30am and was attended.

around 7:15am got my x-ray done, and then was told to go back to wait outside the room where I paid my fees, then as soon as I got there, the nurse was there and she's like I will take that (the package of forms the fee lady gives, passport, records) then she told me to go back and wait in the first waiting room.

7:30am got called in by a doctor to get blood taken out.

7:40am called in to the room where the doctor was going to exam me. Nurse came in and I signed another sheet for the physical, and then she left and another nurse walked in 30 seconds later, took my blood pressure and pulse. Then was told to remove all clothes (even socks) and put on the blue gown.

7:50am Doctor came in, asked me a series of questions, was really quick as I said no to everything, since I've been always healthy. Then I lied down on my back, he felt around my legs, arms, looked up the gown (LOL) and then told me to sit up and I breathed in and out as he checked my breathing and heart beat. Then he went through my immunization records. Just to let you know I only went with my Yellow Immunization Card, and all that was in it was 3 booster shots I've had and nothing else, and I gave him a copy of my blood test showing I've had the mmr, told him i had the chickenpox when I was 6 and that's it. No need to get all these other shots like Hep A and B or anything else. All they are looking for is the MMR, 3 boosters in your lifetime and if you've had chickenpox.

8:10am Put a fork in me, cause I was finished.

Just remember the earlier you get there the better. And if you don't have a shot, they will let you get it at your doctor and then just fax in the results. That's my review.

Easiest medical ever, friendly staff, much more then on the phone and very organized.

Hey guys, I have my medical tomorrow and they want me to bring my Packet 3 letter with my name and i guess your "suppose" to bring the part where is says your case number, but my case number was on the checklist I sent back. I did photocopy the checklist for my own records and for this purpose, you think I should take it, or will the packet 3 letter with my name be fine?

That's what I'll be bringing to the medical. From what I understand, the panel physician will then fill out a form indicating that I had the required vaccines or that I received them that day.

Ok. Thanks. :)

Hey everyone, I hope everyone had a good weekend. Each day that goes by is one day closer to ending this long journey, so that's a positive.

I have my medical on Wednesday in Toronto, so whoever is after me I will sum up the process for us, for reassurance :P

And one quick question, I don't know about you guys, but to get my vaccination records from my doctor has been a hassle, so after much bickering (they are so lazy) I finally get it tomorrow, but they are not going to print out a record, they are just going to fill in a Immunization Record card. It's a small yellow panflet that says Immunization Record, and the vaccinations documented will be hand written, do you guys think this will be fine?

Hey peeps, got a question about affadavit of support:

We are using a joint-sponsor who has 5 in his household, which the poverty line for 5 is $32, 237 and he made $35, 000 last year, and the years before over $40, 000. He has no mortgage as his house is paid off. Do you think they will accept this or not?

Hey guys, I need some help. My Medical is coming up on May 12 and I got my "records" of immunization. The thing is I only have 2 records of vaccines. First one was in January of this year when I got My booster shot and then i had to get a blood test to see if I had the MMR shot when I was born because I was born in El Salvador and came when I was 4 months old so i couldn't get the records. Do you think that will be enough?

Hi Alaba,

The number you call is DOS(department of state) 202-663-1225. To make it easier so you don't have to listen to everything, you just press 1 and then 0 to talk to a operator. Make sure you have your MTL case number, they will ask for it. They will also ask you your name and date of birth. I just called and got threw pretty quick.. :D

Thanks for the tip!

last question for P3. I'm done filling everything out, so i'm gonna send it off first thing tomorrow morning. Any special way to pack this. Put it in a certain order? Or just stick it in the envelope and let's rock? Also says in all correspondence, please include your name and case number. Did everyone do that? And what does everyone do for the Checklist where it says Evidence of Domicile? Thanks!

Alright, so when I sent my P3, all I did send where the forms that were required. That's it. No passport pictures, or certificate.
The checklist is probably to make sure you will bring everything and won't be able to say at the interview "oh I didn't know I needed that", because you will have signed the letter stating you are gathering/have gathered what is required.
And now that I'm logged in, I'll be calling DOS every week to see if they have set up an interview. The P4 is sent to you after that.
Hope this helps and hope that whoever is waiting to get logged in get it soon!
:energy:

Thanks so much for the answers!

Someone PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong, but what I sent back was:

  • DS-230 Part I
  • DS-160 + confirmation page
  • 2x DS-156
  • DS-156K
  • Checklist stating I have obtained forms and evidence to bring to the interview

Hopefully nothing extra needs to be sent, otherwise I'll have messed up.. So wait until someone else confirms this! :P

Thanks for the respone and info!

Ok, since i'm a november filer, this seems the best place to get some help. Haha. Props to whoever started this thread.

Question is this... Hey guys, I just finished filling out all the forms for P3. What else do i have to send back with the P3? Do i have to send any passport photos, birth certificate and Criminal record? Thanks

I don't want to get annoying, I just don't want to screw up. THANK!

CanadaApproved November Filers - The Wait for Interview

Hi alaba, Congrats on getting your P3!

For the DS-230 you only have to fill out part 1. I only printed and sent in part 1, hopefully this is correct. You might want to make sure about this with someone else.

When you are all finished with the DS-160, it will give you three options. One is to print the conformation receipt, the other is to print out all the pages from the DS-160 form and the other is to send the conformation receipt to your email. I believe this is the only time you'll be able to print out all the pages with your filled in information so make sure you get your pages printed. As well as your conformation receipt.

You have to send back the:
Conformation receipt (one page)
All information filled in from the DS-160 form. (should be around 3 to 4 pages, depending on all the information you provide)

and remember to always save after you fill each page on DS-160. That way you won't have to start all over again.

Thanks for the info!!!!

Ok, whoever can help me i'd really appreciate it. haha. I have the P3 and i'm about to start filling out the forms.

1. The DS-230 says just part 1, so does that mean i just fill out part 1 and send that back and disregard part 2?

2. The DS-160 when I'm done filling the one out will the confirmation appear and just print it out? (It says ds-160 available online, then after a couple forms on the P3 says Confirmation page at same location)

I just want to be really sure and not screw up. Thanks so much!

CanadaIs just confirmation for DS-160 ok? (Montreal)

Instructions from Montreal ask for me to submit form DS-160, as well as confirmation receipt. I neglected to print the entire form when I was filling it out, and I doubt I could go back now and do it. Has anyone here gotten through ok with only the confirmation?

I just had my interview and they didn't ask for it, but I did take the confirmation page.

LOL. That's how it goes. If you have all your ducks in a row they don't ask to see anything. But if you had just one thing left undone, you could be guaranteed they'd ask for it!

Just always have more then you need.

Congratulations on getting through the interview so easily! It should be pointed out that others' experiences might be much different from yours, so they should be prepared with all documents required for the interview. I'll bet you were nervous about not having the tax returns!

Good luck with your POE. When will that be?

Very true, everyone take all your documents because some people are asked for everything... and yes i was nervous without the tax returns, but it trusted in God, and everything went smooth.

Better to take more then less. Always be prepared.

Congrats!! :)

Is the fee really $350 now? I must have missed that! Wow.

Yes the fee is $350, lol, they more then doubled the fee. Unbelievable.

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a question for you: When did you get your bank and employer letter? We mailed our packet 3 today, but I already have the, affidavit, bank and employer letter from my fiance but we probably won't get an interview for at least 4 months. Thanks for your help.

TBenjamin... As soon as I got my packet 3 i got all my documents together. My interview was August 10 and all bank letters and statements, letter from employer were all from May. So I had everything 3 months in advance. I even used the expired Affidavit of Support and they didn't say anything. Everything went smooth.

CanadaMontreal Interview Review
Here's my review of my interview at montreal consulate for K1 Visa...

Arrived at 6:15 am...extra early, wanted to be first... people started showing up at around 6:45-7:00am.
Doors opened at 7:30am.
Went through security with my fiance and was giving letter A.
Sent down the stairs to wait for security guard who would be bringing us up to the floor where we need to be.
Waited about 10 min then was called to booth 11 and was asked for paper work... photos, passport, letter of intent, affidavit of support and supporting documents, police record, medical exam (no x-ray) and xpress envelope with my mailing address.
Was sent to pay $350... CASH! Boo ya!
Was called within 10 min back to booth 11 and was fingerprinted.
Then was told to go back to wait in the waiting room as I would be called in to booth 7 or 8 for my interview.
Waited around just over 2 hours for my interview.
11:15 called to interview booth number 7.
Waiting there was a really nice lady with short white hair and glasses.
Here comes the awesome part...

1. Walked in and was ask to raise my right hand and take an oath to tell the truth.
2. She asked me when we met and if i still worked for the same place and said yes.
3. She skimmed through my paperwork in front of my eyes and said, everything seems to be in order. Are you ready to marry in 90 days of entering the USA and I said yes.
4. She's like ok, you can go we will mail it out to you.

LOL! That was it, no lie, 3 questions.

The crazy part in everything is for the affidavit of support, I didn't take tax returns or nothing. Just letter from my fiances bank and work and bank statements and was approved. That was my only fear and nothing happened.

They didn't ask for my Confirmation page of they form we fill out on the internet, nothing. Crazy!!!!

I guess no matter how many times people tell you to relax cause the interview is easy, you just can't because it's just the way it is.

Everyone in the consulate was super nice, so don't worry, everything will work out

Thanks for everyone congrats, can't wait to with you all the same!

Alaba.

Hello August Interviewees! I've got good news ~~~~~~~ I GOT APPROVED!!!!!!

I will write my full review tomorrow (I took mental notes to share with you all).
The only thing I'll let you know is - be prepared to WAIT!

I arrived at the consulate first thing. 6:30am, no one in line. I didn't leave until 1:30pm. I was one of the last to leave. Ridiculous! It turns out that I was a 'guinea pig' for a new online program (D-160) for K1 visas. By the time I got called into the interview I didn't feel nervous, just annoyed and cranky.

HAHA. So, relax, get your paperwork together, have a good breakfast and bring a good book. Once they tell you you're approved nothing else matters!

I am going to celebrate with my mom in rainy Montreal.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

CanadaAugust Interviews Crew - AOS Journey

Hey everyone!
How are you all doing? Long time no talk! J&J, are you settling in your new home?

Chris and I are about to put an offer on a lot and build our house! It's very exciting, and a long time coming!!! It should be all done by December 2012 hopefully! It's in a super quiet neighborhood, full of woods! As a matter of fact, when we went looking around on the lot this past weekend, I was bitten by something on my back, and I have three giant bumps! I think I need to go see a doctor! It's freaking me out!!!

I think Chris and I are also going to do a surprise visit in July for my mother's birthday. Just for a long weekend I think. It'll be nice to see everyone! And then we'll be going for Christmas as well. I think after the house is built, I'm going to tell the family that it's their turn to come and visit now! Hahaha!

One of my brothers is possibly moving to Guatemala, and I'd like to go visit and maybe have our honeymoon there or something. But apparently it's expensive to fly there? Not sure what'll happen with that.

I have to renew my passport before applying for the removal of conditions. I think I'll probably do that after coming back for the visit in July. Hopefully it doesn't take too long! I'm not going to change my name though I don't think, it might be too much of a hassle, what do you think?

Alright people, take it easy, enjoy the beautiful spring we're having! (well, here anyways!!!)

Hi to everyone, i hope everyone had a good Canadian long weekend, even though i had forgot it was Victoria Day cause i'm only concious now of "american" Holidays... oh well...

Couldn't help but see that Vero and Chris that your brother is moving to Guatemala, that's a big move, i'm actualy half Guatemalian and have been there before, there are very beautiful places there, but alot different then anything in Canada and the USA...what takes him to Guatemala? It really sparked my curiosity
