K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 for K-3 visa question
Well, not quite.

You send two G-325As, one for the petitioner (you) and one (your wife) for the beneficiary.
To be clear, each of these forms has 4 identical pages, so you'll just send all four pages of each G-325A form (one form for husband, one form for wife), totalling 8 pages' (4 pages for husband, 4 pages for wife) worth of G-325A material in your petition. You will not send four copies of each G-325A, which would then be 32 pages (16 for husband, 16 for wife). I'm sure Reba meant it the way I explained here, but the way she said it might be confusing to some. ;) ttyl,

2- Two filled out G-325a forms, one for me and one for her with our photos attached to respective forms

I just wanted to add that I think you're supposed to have 4 copies each of the G325A

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 for K-3 visa question
1) No - do not send the wedding photos. That comes much later. Only send the passport-style photos required.
2) Yes, NOA stands for Notice of Action. NOA1 is the first one that's just a receipt. It says they got your app, now they'll process it. The NOA2 is the one where you get your decision (hopefully approval!). I'm not sure where you got the I-259... I don't see that referenced in either the IR1/CR1 guide nor the K3 guide. Further, according to the USCIS forms page, that form doesn't exist. Do you mean the I-129F? If so, yes, you file that after you receive your NOA1 on your I-130. You file that form with a copy of the NOA1 to show that you've already filed the I-130 since the K3 is an extension or a parallel process to that.

Hope this helps! ttyl,

mich

Hi all,

I'm about to send I-130 petition to USCIS for my wife and will appreciate your time if you can be of help. I've included in the petition:

1- I-130 filled out form
2- Two filled out G-325a forms, one for me and one for her with our photos attached to respective forms
3- Payment $190
4- Supporting documents: My naturalization certificate copy, My USA passport copy (all pages), Marriage certificate

My questions are:

1- Do I need send our wedding photos too? At what point I send in my wedding photos?
2- The Guide on this site has a procedure list and mentions filing I-259 after NOA1 of I-130. What is "NOA1"? Does it stand for Notice of Approval? Are there multiple NOAs that it has 1 to it?

Thanks in advance.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionno paperwork from spouse for K3 process/interview?
Howdy... I've been chasing around links on the Embassy in Manila page for a while and I think that I finally ended up in the right place. According to the state department here: http://travel.state....es_1315.html#6c she will need all those things, but as long as she has clear photocopies, they will be returned to her. This seems to pretty much match up with the comments everyone's posted so far. I may still drop an email to the embassy to make sure that this is still accurate and that there will not be any difficulties for us to maintain posession of the original. Hope this helps someone else too! :) ttyl,

Applying for a Visa

The embassy or consulate where you, the spouse of an American citizen, will apply for a K-3 visa must be in the country where your marriage took place. Here are the procedures to apply. The embassy or consulate will let you know any additional things to do, such as where you need to go for the required medical examination. The following is required:

* Two copies of form DS-156, Nonimmigrant Visa Application
* One DS-156K, Nonimmigrant Fiancé(e) Visa Application form
* Police certificates from all places lived in since the age of 16
* Birth certificates
* Marriage certificate for spouse
* Death and divorce certificates from any previous spouses
* Medical examination (except vaccinations)
* A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond the applicant's intended period of stay in the United States.
* Two nonimmigrant visa photos
* two inches/50 X 50 mm square, showing full face, against a light background)
* Proof of financial support (Form I-134 Affidavit of Support may be requested.)
* Payment of fees, as explained below

The consular officer may ask for additional information. It is a good idea to bring marriage photographs and other proof that the marriage is genuine.

Documents in foreign languages should be translated. Take clear, legible photocopies of civil documents, such as birth and marriage certificates, to the visa interview. Original documents can then be returned to you.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionno paperwork from spouse for K3 process/interview?

Congratulations on making it to this point! ;)

I'm not sure how much help I can be, but at least I can reassure you that you're not crazy for thinking that the DS230 would be required. :hehe:

The "guide" for the K3 is very vague - it's usually best to click on the Embassy link & read what it tells you for your local embassy. However, I just looked at the Philippine link & it doesn't say anything about a DS230. I agree that's perplexing. The UK embassy requires the DS230 (part 1), DS156, DS 156k & DS 157 (for men). As for the police certificate, we take that with us to the interview instead of mailing it in. I believe you get back any originals right then & they can make copies of what they need.

I would suggest looking at the Philippine Embassy website itself, or contacting them directly to ask about that DS230.

Good luck & be sure to let everyone else know what you find out!!

I was just looking at the Embassy Info too and yeah... it's a bit strange. There's not even a mention of a DS-230. I hope that you're right that they'd just make copies and send us on our way. I think that you're right that in the end I'll just need to contact them and find out what the deal is. I didn't think my situation was terribly unique... but I guess I'm just a special person  Yeah, will definitely post back what I find out... it's starting to seem that this is a bit specific by consulate, so I hope that it will still be useful. :)

mich,

See the Visa FAQ for better information about what needs to be done for the visa application and interview.

Howdy all you knowledgable folks out there in VJ land... :help:

I quite admittedly have been pretty focused on our CR-1 visa and the K3 slipped by me a bit. Now that it's approved, I'm a bit lost. I'm looking at the guide here:
http://www.visajourn...om&page=k3guide
and all it talks about needing for the interview is stuff from me (I-134, NOA2, etc). Of course, I'm sure that sending all the "evidence" (i hate calling it that) of our relationship will be helpful as well. But she doesn't have to submit any paperwork? No DS-230? She doesn't need her birth certificate? Marriage certificate? For some reason, I had it stuck in my head that we would need to file a DS-230 for the K3 visa as well. ....
mich

Yodrak - Thanks! I hadn't even noticed that tab up there, but I see some things in there that look pretty useful. :) Though a *lot* of the links for the K3 point back to the same guide that I cited above :P Looks like 12.0 might be a step closer and a bit more help. Though I also compared the Embassy info for Philippines to UK and noticed there are some differences, so maybe Rebster is right that contacting the embassy will be the only way to really get the info that I need (hey, VJ can't have everything, right? ;) ).

Mich,

She'll need to present birth, marriage, police certificates and all that other stuff for a K-3 interview.
I don't know how it is for applicants from the Philippines, but for my case, I had to send all that stuff to NVC for the CR-1.
For K-3, I'm getting a second copy of all the documents. I have requested a second certified copy of our marriage certificate, plus I've applied for police certificates again... and so on. Although, as Rebster suggested, I think you can show them the originals during the interview (they'll keep the photocopies).

Good luck! (And congratulations on getting that I-129F approved.)

This is what I was concerned about. :( Unfortunately, she's told me that in the philippines, you can request only one nbi clearance per year. Making things even more interesting is the fact that there's a local one and one for traveling abroad - and you can only get one or the other of those, not both! I guess they'll just refuse/ignore any subsequent requests. This is why I'm particularly concerned about it. The marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc, we're getting plenty of copies since it seems like we need new ones for everything all the time.

I guess if they just inspect and photocopy the original at the K3 interview (which I'm sure will be before the CR-1 as we haven't even started the NVC process and the average waiting time from case complete to interview for a CR-1 seems to be about 3 months and the K3 NOA2 expires at the beginning of sept), then maybe that would work as we'd still have the original for the CR-1 paperwork - the trick will then just be making sure that she has it for the interview and I have it to send to the NVC at the right times.

Thanks everyone for your comments!

She doesn't need her birth certificate? Marriage certificate? For some reason, I had it stuck in my head that we would need to file a DS-230 for the K3 visa as well. Here is why this is particularly important for our case: apparently in the Philippines, you are only allowed to request one nbi (police) clearance per year. If this gets tied up in the K3, then it won't be available for the CR-1 when we need it at the NVC (hopefully in a few weeks). This is definitely not desirable. It seems hard to believe that there's virtually no paperwork required of the (non)immigrant before coming here. The guide mentions "vaccination records" (which she doesn't have), and unspecified "other items", which does concern me just a little bit.

So am I just completely overreacting again and freaking out for nothing, or is there indeed something larger looming over us that I just haven't found yet (or found once, but can't find again)? If this is the case that it's required for both, what would be the way to handle it? Of course I don't want create the paradox where I put our CR-1 on hold while the K3 is processed. Also, if this is the case, can any of our fellow VJ filipinos comment on how they handled it? Photocopy for the K3 with a note saying that the cert will be arriving with the CR-1? Thanks everyone for your comments. ttyl,

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionManila St Lukes and Your Passport
Just adding another concur with the "St. Luke's gets your passport" theme. My wife called St. Luke's last week and personally confirmed it with them.

As a side note, for ID, we're planning to use her last work ID and she just got a postal ID, along with all the documents and such that we'll already have. I've never even heard of a postal ID before, so it's a good thing she knows how things work over there. ttyl,

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionManila St Lukes and Your Passport
It seems like in the philippines, surrendering your passport for processing or whatever is normal. My wife has had to do it a couple of times for different things so far, and i also was surprised how nonchalant she was about it - especially since she doesn't have any other government-issued ID (like a driver's license).

However, I wouldn't necessarily consider this mindset strange - the passports are property of the government, aren't they? Even our US ones say that they have to be surrendered immediately if so ordered, if i remember correctly. Then, of course, US driver licenses can also be confiscated as well. The US mentality of "mine mine" isn't necessarily the most accurate here. The government has simply requested that its property is returned.

So it doesn't necessarily seem so unusual to me that a filipino would trust an agent of the government (St. Lukes, the only hospital allowed to do medical exams) to handle government documents. One would have the same issue if the medical exam info didn't get to the embassy as well, right? The applicant would get there and the CO would take issue with no medical exam on record.

Curious, though, what they use for identification to grant access to the US Embassy... I guess we'll find out.

Just a little different angle on your observations... Maybe right... maybe wrong. ttyl,

mich

Well, I just searched the ASAWA website and seems like this is the situation. St. Lukes does keep your passport and sends it with the medical. I wish the U.S. Embassy would clarify this in their K4 packet. I can see situations where the Fiance would not want to give the passport. Very very tricky.

So if for some reason St. Lukes does not send the medical results and your passport - Then you are on automatic A/R. Oh well, guess we just have to cross our fingers and wish that they do their job and deliver on time.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionURGENT: accidentally opened visa envelope
the embassy was closed again on friday in the aftermath of the typhoon, so it was finally open Monday when she got there. well, um, ok. turns out we didn't make a mistake after all. The brown envelope has just a corner cut off diagonally, but the rest of the envelope is sealed, so it was ok that she took the plastic off of it (or if there's no plastic at all, i guess). the guy at the info desk told her that it was just fine, but that she was missing some sort of document inventory and to go to window 34. the girl at window 34 (when she finally answered her window) didn't know what the guy was talking about and said that my wife didn't need whatever it was. however, she did go ahead and reseal the envelope (apparently just for the fun of it) in the plastic. so everything was ok after all. what i thought looked like a folder in the pic she sent was really the envelope. i thought it was open at the top, but it's just a corner that's cut off the envelope where the papers are visible and sticking out. hope this makes sense and helps anyone else that's at this final stage. :) ttyl,

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionURGENT: accidentally opened visa envelope
What my wife told me (or at least how i understood it?) was that there was a clear plastic bag that had the passport and the envelope in it. The delbros guy opened this one 'cause it also had some sort of form that my wife had to sign about the delivery or something. The only plastic that was left unopened when he gave it to her was that around the brown envelope/folder, which was supposed to stay sealed. She didn't say anything about instructions, but at that point it may not have been important. The only instructions that she noted to me were the ones printed on the brown envelope/folder. It sounds like this may not be much help, but hopefully maybe it's a little more clear. It seems unlikely that there are two envelope configurations, but the description you received sounds slightly different than the one I received.

I know what you mean about feeling helpless all the way over here. I know my wife will be able to do everything herself and doesn't need my help or anything, but I still would like to be there anyways. :) It's important to us both. I can pretend to be useful or something. :P

Unfortunately, I don't have an update for the results. Typhoon Xangsane started beating down on Manila today and the embassy was closed when she arrived. They (guards, probably) told her to return tomorrow. I hope that this is an in-and-out sort of thing, our time is getting short too and I don't want to wait for delbros again. ttyl,

Howdy...

We passed our interview (yay!) and the visa was delivered today. However, my wife misunderstood the instructions for not opening the envelope. She received a clear envelope that contained both her passport and another clear envelope that had the brown folder. She opened the clear envelope to get the passport, then thought that she could also open the clear envelope around the brown folder. She thought the brown folder itself just needed to stay sealed. Apparently, the brown folder is open on the top, and this clear envelope was the one that she wasn't supposed to open.

Needless to say, we're both very very concerned about this, including the big warning that says opening it might delay her POE. What do we do now? Can we go back to the embassy and get it reissued? Can we just go to the POE and explain the confusion and what happened? Like everyone here, we've done quite a bit to try to get things done (right) and we don't want it all to blow up at the last moment. :( Thanks for any help you can give us. ttyl,

I don't understand. I explained to my wife about the two clear envelopes and she says there are not two, only one and the brown envelope and passport within it. I told her to take pictures of it. She has not opened anything yet. She said there were written instructions and also Delbros gave instructions about what to open and what not to open. I hate this confusion. Are there two configurations of envelopes?? If she makes a mistake, no time to fix before her flight out I'm afraid. I'm confident she will figure it out. I just hate being here not able to help or see directly what's going on. I feel helpless over here :-)

Thanks simple_male, girl37. We kinda went MIA for a bit while pressing hard into this, but fortunately everythnig came out great as the result of our work. Our evidence was definitely the result of our teamwork, and the CO complimented us that we had a "well-documented case". :D He didn't even look at half the stuff we had ready. No news yet on how the resealing went; she'll probably get there in about an hour and then have to wait inside the embassy forever. Fortunately, she's comparably close to the embassy too.

pendelton_boy - You have to file both a I130 and an I129f for a K3. Check out the guide which will get you going. You can see what we've done and when we've done it in my VJ timeline and I have all the details for pretty much everything in my profile, as Dylan'sWife noted. If you haven't done your I129f yet, it sounds like you're probably too late to bring her here before the birth.

Here's where we are now. My wife called the USE and they told her to go there and report to Window X. She'll do that first thing tomorrow morning since it's already fairly late in the afternoon there. Thanks everyone for your help. I hope they can just reseal it and call it a day.

Regarding what's in the envelope, she didn't look through the whole thing, just noticed some of the paperwork since it's open at the top. She said that what she did notice was our DS forms (the 156 and 157, I assume), the copies of my taxes that I gave them with the I-134, and my paystubs from work. I would venture that the I-134 is in there too.

Wish us luck! I'll keep this thread posted with what we discover from the embassy. ttyl,

Well, the trick that caught her was that we'd heard over and over that there's a brown envelope that you're not supposed to open. We hadn't read anything about the clear plastic that was around the brown envelope (maybe we didn't read enough). So yeah... tell her not to open *that* one. ;)

We're thinking that we'll need to go to the embassy too, just weren't too sure if there was anything that they'd actually do. I'm also going to call the cbp for her POE in the morning and ask them what they think about it and if she's really going to have a difficult time with having opened the folder. Thanks Joel. ttyl,

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPictures
We gave the CO probably about 250 or so pics. They were in flexible plastic sheets (bought at Target) so they can bend under the glass and we used binder rings (bought at Office Depot) to hold all the pages together. We sorted them first in these categories: pics of wedding, pics of us, pics with family and friends, solo pics. Then within those categories, we sorted by trip. So there were all the pics of us from the first trip. Then all the pics of us from the second trip, etc.

We then marked each page that started the new (sub)category with a stick-on tab (bought at Office Depot) on the side so that it would be easy to see, say, pics of us with fam/friends during the birthday trip. I believe we also color coded the trips, so all the pics from the first trip in each category were like yellow, and all the pics from the second trip were white. These were very similar to the tabs that we used on our I-130 and I-129f to designate the different documents.

On the back of each picture was the place it was taken, the event or reason we were somewhere, the date, and a list of all the people in the photo from left to right.

I think that the CO liked this very much and I'm pretty sure he spent more time flipping through the tabs and looking at the pics than he did looking at everything else (emails, postal letters, IM convos, etc). The interview went a bit quicker than I thought 'cause he didn't really ask much. He commented that we had a "well-documented case" and we both felt he seemed to be searching for questions to ask. But them again, we knew that we deserved to be approved without a lot of hassle. ;) Hope this helps. ttyl,

I'm in the same boat, but my NOA 1 was dated earlier - July 20. I still can't see it online. I did call USCIS and they have it and it's in their system, so the same is true for you. I guess we just have to begin the process of learning to be very patient throughout this whole process. But it's killing me already!

It finally showed up online today. Shows that our I-129F was transferred to CSC on 8/13/2007 and a notice sent out.

Hi Bruce,

It appears we have similar timelines...I also got my case transferred yesterday to the CSC.
Hopefully we can get our spouses herer in Christmas.....

In fact it is the other way around, if an I-129f is submitted for K-3, the USCIS will hold the I-130 and just send off the I-129F for K-3 visa, they do not send off the I-130 for CR-1.

In fact it is the other way around, if an I-129f is submitted for K-3, the USCIS will hold the I-130 and just send off the I-129F for K-3 visa, they do not send off the I-130 for CR-1.

http://www.uscis.gov...e/PN_i-129f.pdf

Both my I-130 and I-129F ..........are moving forward. I'm going to cancel my K3 now. I doubt they're going to hold my I-130 once it reach to NVC.
Many have tried that only to get both I-130 and I-129F canceled, the cases are linked, and only way to keep the I-130 moving on to NVC is by filing I-824 requesting the I-130 be sent on to NVC for counselor processing into the CR-1 visa.

The decision must be made if you want CR-1 or K-3 BEFORE you send in the I-129F.

Are you somekind of imigration law attorney or very knowlegeable person about to know all USCIS/NVC process? do you you have a connection inside NVC/USCIS to to know all the process. or you just contend to believe USCIS press realese back in 2006??

My husband filed K3 last October 2006 and last February 2007 he filed iancee visa visa for me.... K3 visa was aprroved October 2007 and fiancee visa was approved November 2007. hence my K3 visa was approved first and NVC sent me an schedule for medical Test and US Embassy Interview so my fiancee visa was ignore. So i think K3 visa was still okey. I don't know? But just hoping everything will be okey...

You mean CR1/IR1 (I-130) not K3 (I-129F). as what your timeline says. My CR1 approve a day before my K3 approve. umm I'm gettin' a hard time understanding your post. Sorry po.

You said "only way to keep the I-130 moving on to NVC is by filing I-824 requesting the I-130 be sent on to NVC for counselor processing into the CR-1 visa." Our k3/k4 already set or have medical/interview appointment schedule this coming march. We we're planning to ignore K3/K4 interview since our CR1/IR1
already have a case# assign at NVC. paid AOS and sent DS3032 (choice of agent) as what I stated on my signature. Are you sayin' EVEN my I-130 case at NVC they are still goin' to hold it?
Now am a bit worry, I guess I have to prepare all necessary documents needed for k3/k4 interview as fast as I can. and go for both visa if they won't hold my I-130 at NVC.

I will very much appreciate your reply

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDetails of Medical Examination
Hello fellow VJers!!!

Just a question regarding the medical examination. My maganda asawa will be having her medical examination in Manila and we are very curious about what the procedures are and what do they check during the exam? Is it just the same as a normal physical? Do they draw blood? Urinalysis? What do they check for? Is it just disease stuff? Just curious. She is totally healthy but hates doctors. An insight would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello all VJers,

Congrats to all that were approved and good luck to those upcoming. We were approved and picked up our VISA from USE on 2/22. It seems so easy now. A lot of waiting. Pre-interview was maybe 3 minutes. Standard questions that we see from past experiences. Consular was even easier than pre-interview. We got the English consular. He didnt even want to see all the proof we brought. Said it was unnecessary because he can tell when there is a genuine relationship. I guess it helps that we look cute together.

Approved within a few minutes. Asked if we could pick up and he said no problem...one or two days. USE called us 2/21 to tell us VISA would be available 2/22. They called while we were right in the middle of watching IMAX movie "A Night at the Museum" at Mall of Asia. We took the call anyway. We werent going to miss that call no matter what.

Picked up VISA on 2/22, jumped in a cab and went to CFO same day. Everything completed. Fly to states 2/27. WOOHOO. Lot's of packing, dinners with friends and family and tears now.

Thank you VJ for everything. We were definitely over-prepared. It is a good thing.

INGAT!!!!

Good luck to everyone with upcoming interviews and congrats to all those that have been approved and are now in the arms of their sweeties!!!

I leave tomorrow for Manila. Arrive on the 18th (SUN) and our interview is on the 20th (TUES). We will be asking to pick up Visa and have plane tickets for the 27th (TUES) back to Eugene, Oregon.

It's really gonna happen isn't it? After all this wait? I can only imagine what all of you with recent approvals must be feeling. Can't wait to join you in that feeling. Almost seems too good to be true but really IT IS too good and IT IS true!!

Won't it be nice to have the same sleep schedule in the same time zone?
Won't it be nice to have holidays on the actual day instead of always the day before?
Won't it be nice to sit at the dinner table face to face to eat a meal with your spouse instead of sitting at the computer eating dinner while she is eating breakfast?

Ingat everyone!!!

Mike what airline are you on? I fly Pal tomorrow at 8:50pm from LAX. Regarding "Won't it be nice"., I second that whleheartedly

I fly PAL out of SFO at 1030PM. Arrive about 5AM Sunday. We got interview on same day. What time is yours?

thanks, i have wamu and they charge me $3 if i remember correctly every time i use my ATM card to withdraw money from an ATM in philippines. so it's a prepaid ATM card. will be looking more into that

I established a prepaid ATM card at my bank and gave the card to my Fiancee. This way all transfers happen here in the states and all she has to do is go to the ATM. Some banks have prepaid ATM card and others do not. You could also ask for a second ATM card and send it to your wife. If your bank is charging you for every ATM withdrawl fee, I'd change banks. Lots of banks have up to 10 ATM cash withdrawals before charging a fee and my bank reimburses me for up to 10 ATM fees that the other banks charge.

I AGREE!! You totally need to change banks. I use Washington Mutual and they don't charge for anything (free checks, no annual fee, free intl wire transfers to BPI, free bank letter). Well, they do charge for bounced checks. But nobody should be bouncing checks anyway. :innocent:

what do i ask for if i want to get more info on the free intl wire transfer to BPI? i'm paying LBC $15 everytime i send money to my wife

I do a wire transfer from my Wamu checking account to my fiancee's BPI Peso account. They don't charge me for this. It takes a couple of days and whatever the exchange rate is at the time will determine what is deposited into her Peso account. I also will sometimes do a wire transfer into her Ma's USD$ account. There is no conversion until she makes a withdrawal. That way she can see what the rate is before withdrawing and get a better return.

When I use my Wamu Debit/Mastercard in the Phils the bank that owns the ATM will usually charge a fee ($3.50) and then Wamu will charge me a 1% international service charge. So what I prefer to do is wire money to the USD$ account before I go there and then withdraw what I need when I'm there already. This way I don't pay any fees and I can decide when and how much the conversion rate will be.

You guys need to change banks, mine was free as is my checking, atm withdrawals, funds transfers, checks...etc. I hate banks that use my money and then charge me to use my own money. Ken

Well it appears we have another debate: Is the Bank Letter Required? YES or NO.

I am thinking that it all depends on the financial situation of the USC. I imagine that if USC is making less than $24K a year, he might be required to submit more evidence of financial standing like bank letter. If he is making well above $30K then W2, ITR, pay stubs and employment letter would suffice but that is just my opinion. No one really knows what the consular officers are thinking.

In my case, since I want to minimize my chances of getting an AR, I might as well get that bank letter because if Mr. or Ms. Consul is having bad hair day he/she :girlwerewolf2xn: can ruin my day as well

My fiance paid $30 for his bank letter. Gee, these American banks! $30 for a letter!? My bank here in the Philippines does not charge me a single cent for a simple letter like that.

Sharing latest information on CFO registration after you have completed your Guidance and Counseling at PRISM.

Take note that at PRISM, they have a limit of 15 participants for the seminar and counseling. So if you come in the morning and you happen to be number 16, you have to wait till the afternoon session.**

The good thing is, the Guidance/Counseling and PDOS or pre departure orientation seminar has been incorporated in one place. So after this, all you need to do is go to to CFO to get your sticker and green certificate which will take less than an hour.

**Although in my case, they graciously allowed me into the morning session and I got my certificate right after the counseling.

So they only allow 15 for each session? What time do people start queueing for this? Jennie is leaving at 7AM to commute there. She will most likely arrive close to 9AM. You think that is too late?

Good Day Fellow VJers!!

Jennie completed her medical exam 1/17-18 this week and everything looks great. During the immunization she was told that SLEC does not give the TD (Tetanus/Diphtheria) vaccine and she would have to get it when she gets to the US. I am guessing that this vaccine is necessary for AOS, correct?

I asked my physician here about that vaccine and whether the vaccine can be given during pregnancy. I was told "ABSOLUTELY NOT". The only time a doctor would give that to a pregnant woman is when she cuts herself...say with a rusty nail...and there is the risk of infection.

So my question is....

What if she gets pregnant right away upon entering the US and is unable to get the vaccine for AOS? Will they still approve AOS based on this? Any thoughts or experiences on this?

Thank you.
Michael

I did some research on the vaccines myself and I believe there is a risk with MMR and Varicela vaccines but not TD. Your doc is probably just being conservative. I think the vaccinations for AOS are given "as appropriate" so I think the AOS doc has some leeway on this and would not hold up AOS for that reason.

And the more we talk about it I realize that they wont cancel the medical exam for being pregnant either. It's not like they will send her home for being pregnant and not able to complete the vaccines, right?? RIGHT???

Mike I ran into the same issue when moving my teenage daughter from the PI to Hawaii. We used LBC a freight company in the PI and U.S., they charge a flat rate no matter the weight, but it can take 30 days or more to get there. The average from Hawaii has been 30 days both ways. If your finacee has a lot of things to bring with her, I suggest this method as the cheapest and most reliable. I never had any custom problems with LBC packages and non of my retired friends there have either. Ken & Maria

Quick question.
We are very curious and wondering about the move to the states. Just wondering about:
How many boxes you brought over?
How did you ship them?
Any problems with customs?
Did they search through it all?
Did they seize anything?
Was there a limit?
If you had done it differently, how would you do it?
Were you able to bring everything?
Did you have to pay twice for extra on plane (International and then Domestic flights)?
We would like to know your experience.
Thank you!!
Mike and Jennie

My fiancee called LBC a cpl of weeks ago and they told her that they have a limit. How long ago did you use them? Is this something new?
