Must be one of the "perks" of living in California (along with the inflated salaries, right?)

When I called the CS office nearest to my home, they told me to come in between 9 am and 4 pm and let them know it was for immigration physical. Any day, no appointment necessary. The only glitch was that the admin that made sure all the paperwork was completed ended up getting ill (hospitalized) and was out for the week following Rin's visit. No one else in the office (not a small office as four of them are listed as CS) had a clue as to how to do this admin's paperwork. So we had to wait until she returned. I actually felt sorry for her as her boss was taking work to her in the hospital. She got out on a Friday and called me at my house Saturday morning to let me know I could come by and get Rin's paperwork.

BTW - the immunization transcribing onto the I-693 was included in Rin's $117.50 (it was $30/child as they did not have an exam). Does your CS actual charge additional for that when you are also having a medical with them? What a crock....

hmm inflated salaries...sure doesn't seem like it! wow that's a pretty crazy story poor administrator compiling work from her hospital bed. thankfully it all worked out for your family at a bargain price if i do say so myself.

btw thanks so much for the link to the other thread i think i may have found a less expensive alternative.

(i still have all the information relevant to his appt. since i made it for him online.) but i am worried about him getting the medical shots again don't think that's wise also cost prohibitive since you cannot use insurance for that.

any advice is very much appreciated.

Are you referring to the entire medical or just the immunization record? We did not receive the medical info (from BNH), but they did give us the immunization record (DS-3025). I would think Bumrumgrad would fax or e-mail you a copy of the immunization records. I agree, I wouldn't want to get the immunizations again.

In our case, Rin's immunizations were complete, but the children's were not. We got them at the pediatrician's office and they were 100% covered by insurance (our insurance covers "preventive care" 100% without deductible). The civil surgeon exam (Rin only) can also be turned into my insurance, but I have to do that myself - the CS had to be paid in full at the time of the exam - and the insurance will re-imburse me directly (since my insurance allows one physical per year to check general health).

thank you so much rin and john! we have emailed BNH to see what they say. thanks for the tip about turning the civil surgeon fees in, i actually verified that i could use my fsa debit account to pay for the out of pocket costs which is nice since the cost is pretty dear and then submit to my insurance for reimbursement. i was surprised that it's several hundred dollars.

i will post what (bnh) replies in case anyone else gets caught in the same boat as us.

Kang Lang - Several hundred dollars??? Does that include all new immunizations? Rin had her medical earlier this month (it had been more than one year since her BNH medical). She had a TB skin test, blood test, and general exam (BP, temp, height/weight, and doc listened to her breath). No shots. Total cost was $117.50. The children had their BNH medical last September, so the doctor just filled in the I-693 part 2 (vaccination only) and part 5 - cost was $30/child for him to fill in the form (after we had gone to the pediatrician and obtained their second round of shots as the DS3025 showed their immunizations as being incomplete due to lack of sufficient time interval).

John

yes, crazy i know they want $185 to just to transcribe the med report from thailand and then the physical is $150 and the tb/hiv test is $350. i wonder if that's california pricing? unfortunately this cs is a wee bit more expensive than the others nearby but the 2 others i called, neither could see him before september!

To those who have gone before me, i give you all props for going through this K-1 visa process. A lot of these forms are repetitive/redundant and should be able to just refer to the I-129f. Anyway, my fiance and I are working on packet 3 and i just have a couple of questions. I searched and did not really find the answers i was looking for.
1. For the BKK police certificate, does my fiance need the original documents or are copies ok?
2. I have a co sponsor. On the second page of the I-134 where it says "If the affidavit is prepared by someone other than the sponsor, please complete the following: I declare that this document was prepared by me at the request of the sponsor and is based on all information of which I have knowledge." Does my co sponsor sign/date this part? Thanks in advance.

welcome to the fray ejqq35

1) use the original of the police certificate
2) sorry i don't have a helpful answer sincei didn't use a co-sponsor but don't worry someone will answer soon.

First thing, my girl remailed the Packet 3 docs EMS on the 11th after the first packet did not arrive and they STILL have not arrived at the embassy and she mailed them in BKK again. What is wrong with their postal system??? Can anyone give me an idea how long their Packet 3 papers took to get to the embassy when mailed in Thailand? She called and checked with the tracking number and the embassy also emailed me and told me they had not received them. If they have not received them by the end of the week, I think I will have her use my FedEx number and send them that way.

As to littleasianman's email problems, I have emailed the embassy 3 times so far and they have responded very nicely to my emails to let me know the packet has not arrived yet. I don't know why you are having a problem with them. I just emailed them again this morning to make sure I can FedEx the papers if they don't receive them and to give them my girl's new cell phone number since she lost yet ANOTHER expensive phone.

When we sent our packet ems it only took 2 days to show up on the ems tracking system as delivered. the one thing is that i was not able to get the tracking through the english website but my husband got it through the thai website if that helps.

good luck!

Hi

My Fiancee just sent back packet 3 ..... I now read people are sending it EMS ... What does that mean? I assume it has a verify that they received the packet. OOPS.. we did not do that.

What is EMS? Is the best procedure to email the Embassy to find if they received packet 3 and when the interview is scheduled? When should I do that? (Yes.. we are anxious!)

sending it ems is like sending it via fedex in terms of being able to track it and view who/when the signature occured.

i would give it a couple of business days maybe even 5 or so before emailing to see if it was received. i'm not sure when it will get entered into the system maybe someone else can shed some light.

good luck!

hi tom and wariya,

regardless of size of document i agree that you should definitely send the entire return. don't give them any reason to deny them. they may not care at all what deductions you take but i bet they will care that you didn't bring the return in its entirety. i gave them one notarized copy of the affadavit of support (i-134) and just a note bring copies of items that you will want the originals back. in addition to my i-134 i thought to bring paystubs since i was new to my job at the time and they kept the stubs.

good luck to you!

Hi everyone. I finally got all the answers I need to complete the initial packet 3 response. Took approx 2.5 months from when I sent her the questions to her giving me the answers. She gave me a little bit more explanation. Basically her family's been having problems due to her sick mom, and since she's the eldest daughter, its her job to take care of her mom. She didn't want to say anything to me, because its her family problem, and she didn't want me to feel obligated to send money to help out. She knows once she comes to the USA she won't be able to work for several months, and was worried she wouldn't be able to send them money. Now her mom has been better for over a month and she finally feels that her mom will stay healthy for some time.

I also found out she never went to the equivalent of high school. She'd told me she went to secondary school, and I incorrectly assumed it was the Thai version of high school, but apparently its their version of junior high. I wonder if this is going to cause any problems at the interview or when she gets to the states?

Maybe I should have taken her up on her offer to have me marry her younger sister who has finished 3 years at University and gets her BA next year? jest.gif (Its been a long running joke that I should marry the youngest sister).

congrats on getting everything sorted!

But I have a little question...Does anyone know of a web site that I can purchase western movies with Thai sub titles?
I saw one once but didn't book mark it and now I can't find it and I don't remember how I stumbled upon it in the first place.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. smile.gif

hey there,

when my husband did it last year there were i think only 2 places in bkk, bumrungrad and a senior center. bumrungrad was a wee bit cheaper like 250 baht or so. but i have been reading here that some of the ladies here have had some "extra fees" come up. we had a great experience. i just made all the appts. online and even chose the doctor. good luck to you!

I really don't understand this at all.... why would the Police Certificate need to be translated? It's already in English. This still begs the question of the "single certificate". It's going to be a letter in Thai so does it need to be translated into English DESPITE what it says in the checklist that documents NOT in English OR Thai need to be translated???

Has anyone had the interview and had an officer tell them that they need to have the single certificate in ENGLISH?

Translation service can also provide Police report for 2000 Baht. many translation services are near the US Embassy. The Police station takes over 2 weeks to process. Too Long.

Has anyone heard of getting your police report from a translation service instead of the police station? Seems bogus, and I'm inclined to remove it, but figured I'd check first.

Hey guys, I emailed the embassy in Bangkok and they replied on March 16th saying that Packet 3 was sent to my Fiancee on the 11th of March. She still has not recieved it in the mail yet 10 days later. Any experiences of anyone else taking this long... don't know how slow the Thai mail system is or if they use a Fed Ex type of service or anything. Is there anything she will get in the mail that I can't just print and mail to her myself? I plan to fill it all out for her and mail it to her anyway as far as the forms go for what needs to be sent in, the rest I will bring over when I come to Thailand for her interview. Also does she have to do the medical and police certificates before she sends Packet 3 back or can she do it after? Any help is appreciated. We wanna get this sent in asap so we can get our interview date asap... not that any of you are in the same boat! lol tongue.gif

Thanks,

Steve

steve it took my husband over 3 weeks to get his packet 3. what we did was print everything off the website and schedule the medical and requested the police cert since it took two weeks to get. (the instructions say when you have all the items on check list you sign off on the sheet and then send it in and they will send you an interview date) we gambled and sent in packet 3 anyway before we completed the list since they don't collect those items by mail. probably saved a few weeks of wait time for the interview date.

that's crazy ting...utter nonsense. shame that she was basically extorted like that. i'm sure if the doctor was amenable the report could have been issued with notation of the patients' refusal to have the shot and leave it to the embassy. i'm curious if all the doctors are doing that or perhaps just that doctor? you should also consider a formal letter to the hospital administration at any rate i'm glad you are that much closer to being reunited.

out of curiosity do they still have another place in bkk to conduct medical? i want to say it was a nursing home or something that's on the list in packet 3. maybe going forward it could be recommended to newer people to go there?

when and where did you meet
what i do for a living and my company name
where i live
when my birthday is
where i was born
and then quite a few questions about his previous visas and visits to the U.S and about the visa applications that he had that were denied when he wanted to come visit me and she then asked me about his denied visas.

it took a total of about 15 minutes then she gave us the approval and told him to pick his visa up 2 days later.
