K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan I apply for a K-1 Visa and a Tourist visa at once?

Hello people,

I'm currently engaged to my American fiancee and I plan to move to the USA in about a year from now. We decided to go for the K-1 visa.

Since she has been the only one visiting me so far I want to visit her the summer and see the sorounding where I will live.

I will apply for a tourist visa somewhere in August so I was wondering if it is possible to apply first for a k-1 visa and then a tourist one? Or can I apply at the same time for both or is it better for me to come back from the USA and then apply for a K-1 visa?

Also I would like to ask: how long does the processing of the K-1 visa lasts?(from the moment you apply till the moment you pick it up)

Thank you for your help people...

Cheers,

Eddyy

You can apply for only one Visa at a time.
Good luck to you

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC Scheduling interviews today July 28
QUOTE (Steve Y Jessica @ Jul 28 2008, 04:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Well today When I called the NVC, They had scheduled my interview for September 23. kicking.gif kicking.gif

I will not be attending this one because My wife has her K3 interview on August 14th. And because the NVC has finally set my CR1 interview, they will be sending our file to the embassy. And it should make it there well before the K3 interview and it will be changed to the CR1 interview.

So anybody whose case is complete, you can start calling the NVC today to get your interview date. kicking.gif kicking.gif

Steve and Jessica, Felicitaciones on you Cr-1 visa approval.

I have a question and a small dilemma and I think I fall in the same shoes as yourself in the following situation.

I made a small mistake to pursue the visa k-3, since today I found out the my I-130 and I-129f was approved at the same time. The I-130 is just waiting for the AOS fee and the choice of agent form from my wife for further processing. Now the visa k-3 interview is already set up in Bogota, Colombia on the 24th of October. What wish to do, if possible, maybe move the appointment/cancel it by fax them a letter stating that I wish to pursue the Cr-1 visa instead.

Any advise will be greatly appreciate it.

PhilippinesWARNING RE: MMR!
I believed that SLEC staffs are not dumb(with the years of studies) to tell us not to get pregnant within the certain period of time, After all those people knows what they we're doing specially like this. Here's information to enlighten and widen our information about MMR vaccine. Please read...

http://healthservice...tion/QA_MMR.php

When should MMR not be given?

Pregnant women or women who think they may be pregnant should not receive the MMR vaccine. Women who receive this vaccine should not become pregnant for at least one month following immunization.

Administration of MMR vaccine should be deferred if there is any severe acute illness. Immunization should not be deferred because of a minor acute illness, with or without fever.

Individuals who have had a serious allergic (anaphylactic) reaction after receiving a dose of measles, mumps or rubella vaccine in the past should not receive MMR.

Individuals who have had a serious allergic (anaphylactic) reaction to neomycin or who have a documented gelatin allergy should not receive MMR.

Individuals who have cancer, leukemia, and lymphoma or HIV infection should not receive MMR.

Individuals who are receiving chemotherapy or other immunosuppressive drugs should not receive MMR.

Individuals who received immune globulin (IG) or other blood products may not be able to receive MMR for two to 11 months. Consult your health care provider or public health nurse as the length of time depends upon the product received and the dose given.

Is the MMR vaccine safe for pregnant women?

Although there is no known risk from MMR vaccine administered during pregnancy, it should not be given to pregnant women. Women who receive this vaccine should not become pregnant for at least one month following immunization.

PhilippinesQuestion about filipina names
It's a matter of preference I think in states all up to"you". You can even still continue using you're maiden name even though you are married or retain middle name and change family name or your family name become a middle name now for as long as you have the legal docs that it's the same person .
sunlykFemalePhilippines2008-08-15 23:53:00
Philippinesmy filipino fiancee's new name after our marriage
I'm also Confused this before but it's a matter of preference anyway. Here's my example say your name is Judy V. Santos then got married to John Smith. As married youre name now is Judy V. Smith the Santos is omitted. In my understanding you only have middle name if you have second name like Judy Ann.Ann is the middle name same as second name and maiden name is not middle name only if you have second name. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

PhilippinesAOS Question
QUOTE (iya @ Aug 17 2008, 03:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
When we went for my AOS interview last November, the CO told me that I should not have changed my middle name (from my mother's maiden name to mine) because things are different in the US. That if I wanted to change it to my maiden name, it should be during the naturalization process. Also, that he would be crossing out my maiden name and changing it back to mother's. However, when I got my green card, my maiden name was used as my middle name. So.. I really don't know what happened tongue.gif I'm just relieved because I had records changed and such, and if the officer had his way, I would've had more name-changing problems!

Because you are still holding Philippine passport so they follow Philippine law. I know this is really confusing all I can say follow whatever we are used too since we are still under Philippine law to avoiding confusion of record ,anyway if you want to change your name you do that once you are granted for citizenship. good.gif
sunlykFemalePhilippines2008-08-17 16:09:00
PhilippinesAOS Question
I would like to clarify this to all Filipino once you got here in States Middle name is like second name but for us Filipino we think middle name as our mothers maiden name. Just don't get confused follow what we are used to since we are still under Philippine Passport, married name now become your family name and middle name your maiden name.

I guess you received good advice here for luggage, food and etc... but the BEST seat for me is the GALLEY where you can stretch because it has wider space in front and window side so you can see the view an its not blocking with the airplane wings. You can choose either near to Lavatory or Food Area. For me i wont choose near to lavatory cause it stinks especially its a long flight.

True!!! I'm from Cebu! during my K1 visa we hired lawyer based in New York which cost us $ 1800.00 for the K1 visa only. Now I just read visa journey guidelines for my AOS and decided to do it myself so far I had my biometric done and no RFE yet(hope not). I know I need a legal advice but its just terrible because I don’t have time left for this and Im totally dependent on him … what would happen to me? To this marriage? Is it possible for him to work on getting a divorce or annulment by his self and with me being in Philippines?

Thank you very much!!!!

To my knowing, when you send a certain electronic gadget to the Philippines, it is advisable to send it through a courier since the stuffs doesn't go through customs. But if you really want to save some bucks you can go through USPS and once its here in the Philippine customs, your sister has to deal with all those crocodiles. I went through customs and they would like me to pay Php 8,400 + for the tax of my engagement ring and others stuffs. I stand to my point that give me the computation why it arrived to like that kind of amount. I was with my aunt that time and she is so much aggressive than me so she talked to those people while me sobbing already, We were just expecting for at least a decent amount of tax, Rar! we we're wrong. we didn't give them the satisfaction to take advantage to us.
Advise, if you will send it through USPS, don't declare the actual amount of the phone,*it may sound ridiculous, but this is the only way to save money, but nothing's stopping us abide the law) they will base the tax from the original amount, well it's in $$$, so they will compute it in dollars too, once it's in PESO, D*#n, You'll gonna cry like me...

I so hate this kind of people!!! I ended up not sending stuffs to the Philippines cause it either I lost it or pay higher tax with so much hassle.

And its not like these people didnt research the k1 process. We do understand the point of the DV. Its just that its a long tedious process... you cant rush NSO... they work on their own time. They dont have a system of doing these DVs in a timely manner. Its just sad everyone has to pay for a few people's mistakes. smile.gif
