Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionReady to file

Hi,just want to confirm what is FAFSA?

When you are a student and you want to get financial aid, you file for FAFSA so that you can get grants, loans, etc. fafsa.ed.gov

They ask you questions like married or single. I would print off the page that shows this.

Hi,

If you have individual bills that show your same address you might want to include those. Also, on your FAFSA, you checked that you were married, so you might want to include that too, if you filed one.

Good Luck!

Hi,

I am a new user and got excited to add my comments after reading all great post here.It really did help me a lot.
My GC expires on 06/29/2012 and I just got a letter from USCIS reminding me abt the expiration and filinf I-751.
I have been working on this for this whole month to get things in order.
I have the following:
Lease agreement,bank statement,tax returns,credit cards,bills,letters,medical and other insurance,vacation itineraries.(all this with Joint names)
I am not sure if i need to also submit our car titles which is not joint?
Also other bills which are only on our individual names?
I do not have any kids and I am in school?do i need to provide any evidence on this?
I do not have many familes here so not much pictures together?will this be a problem?

Wish everyone best of Luck!!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 ROC evidence
Hey,

Not to be nit picky but here are some issues:

Evidences of Relationship - Evidence (no S)
Copy Chase bank joint account statements for every 4 months. I would detail which months and years you are sending in
Electricity bills in wife's name showing address. - I would say that either she is the green card holder or the petitioner so that they can read it quickly.
the term "showing our address" I would change to "showing our joint address."
Mails (no S)
My car insurance policy and a letter stating that my wife don't have a driver's license and planning on one. - shouldn't this be two different bullet points. Also, wife doesn't and is planning on obtaining one.

Sorry for the nit pickiness, Everything else looks good :) Good Luck!

I second this, I would also contact your congressman if all else fails. Good Luck!!

Wait, your i-751 IS TAKING 2+ YEARS AND THEY STILL WANT INTERVIEW???

Okay this is ridiculous...

I suggest you get a lawyer about this BS, honestly this might end up to be an ENDLESS delay.

If you are still married, why didn't you file for citizenship (N-400) 3 years - 90 days prior to your temp GC's PR-since day? I'm sure you already qualify for that long time ago.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWalk ins at Chula Vista??
Hello Friends,

I just received my husband's biometrics and it is for April 2, 2012. I am a professor and that's the first day of the quarter for me, and is a super busy day for my husband as well. We would like to do a walk in but I haven't been able to find any info on the Chula Vista center that is more recent than 2009. Any help?

Thanks!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionQuestions to people who received their permanent GC

You'll have a new picture of yourself, and the card will look different because they got redesigned in mid-2010. I got my conditional card right before they redid them, so my 10 year card will look totally different.

attached is the new look card...Attached File  New-US-Green-Card.jpg.bmp   241KB   78 downloads

ok awesome, he has the new one and so, will (hopefully one of these days) he will get another new 10 year one.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionQuestions to people who received their permanent GC

The only difference is if you got your conditional card before May, 2010 when the cards were redesigned. That's not a difference between the conditional and not, but yours will look different if your conditional card is one with the older design on it.

My husband received his on May 31 2010, does that mean his 10 year card will be different?

Congrats on your new car! I would recommend that you choose one bank statement and one utility bill for each quarter of each year. For example, if you choose January 2011 for your bank statement, choose February for your utility bill. I sent in 6 per year. You should definetly include your title and other information regarding the car purchase. This is when you were able to buy the car, I don't think USCIS is going to think that your marriage is fraudulent because you bought a car together (of course, you never really know do you?) Good Luck!!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionRequest for Evidence

Hi there, we just received an RFE for more evidence yesterday. It is quite frustrating because we sent bank statements showing both of our incomes going into account, pics, mattress payment we have together, taxes, everything I thought they would need. I owned my home for 10 years before my husband arrived so his name is not on the property. He refuses to be on any account that involves interest due to his religion. I told him that was a big mistake for this very reason. I am wracking my brain trying to think of other things that we can send. I recently added my husband to my chase visa account (we pay it in full each month so no interest). I think I will send that. A friend has volunteered to write an affidavit for us so I will go with that too. In my state, your spouse is automatically your beneficiary on life insurance unless you have them sign a waiver so I guess I will have my employer write something up for me stating as such. Other than that they asked for birth certificates (we don't have kids together), leases (I own my home). Don't really know what else to send!

IN your RFE, you should write a letter explaining that your husband refuses to be added to any account that acquires interest according to his religion. Good luck with the RFE :D

have your in laws draw up a "rental agreement" that shows how long you have been "renting" from them, or, have them write an affidavit attesting to the length of the current living arrangement :)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCancel K1 Visa
I don't have the answer to your question, sorry. But, I think you are right to cancel the paperwork instead of letting it expire. Hopefully, you will meet someone else soon and if you decide to start the process again, it will be important that the previous K1 visa has been terminated.

Hopefully, someone else knows how to submit the cancellation request.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDHL Question
QUOTE (Wei&Shu(Joe) @ Aug 31 2008, 09:43 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I know one can't be sure what package their petition is in but I was looking for a shipment to Guangzhou and I'm a little perplexed.

NVC told me they approved on 8/28 and mailed on 8/29. I know their mailed info may not be accurate but I've looked at DHL putting in every day of last week and there are shipments all over the world, but not one to Guangzhou. Any ideas why?

Do they ship less frequently to Guangzhou because they know Guangzhou is going to sit on it a few months anyway?

There are several shipments to Hong Kong. I also wondered if maybe they started shipping it through Hong Kong?

Or maybe I just made a mistake at the DHL site but I was pretty careful and checked several times.

Any thoughts?

I'll also check to see if the good folks on CFL have an idea.

I'll guess it is this one:
Reference number: EXP 28 AUG 2008B
Tracking number: 9438085005
The tracking information shows it shipped on 8/29.

BTW, after 1 to 2 weeks, tracking the package with the reference number will not show up-to-date information. You must use the tracking number.
Also, don't be surprised if the package sits in customs for 2 months or more. The consulate will pick it up when they are ready to send out more P3's.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusPolice certificate for minors
[Thanks Slim, that's a good angle. It takes bout a month to get the police certificate, and the kid just turned 16, so there's really no way she could've gotten the it by the time of the interview even if she applied next day after the kid's birthday .
In your case, how long did it take for them to issue your fiancee a visa, once they got the certificate?
Thanks for help
Andy

It is possible for the embassy to approve the visa PENDING receipt of a police certificate.

If they need one from the minor child, you can send it later.

I wouldn't delay my interview for the purposes of trying to get a police check for someone who just turned 16. That said, I would apply for one now, and go to the interview with the "well, he/she just turned 16, so a police check was not possible yet" if asked. That way you can actually produce one at a later date, and even show proof of application at the interview, if necessary. (IT MAY NOT BE NECESSARY!!!)

My fiancee (who lived in the Far East) was going to get her police check after her interview date because it took approximately 1 month for the check to be processed. She called the embassy, and they instructed her to continue with her original interview date, then mail/fax the police check later. They said she could be approved for, but not issued, a visa, pending a police check with nothing serious on it. She ended up having it sooner, but had she not had the check completed, she was going to go anyway.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusPolice certificate for minors
Does anyone know how strict the Moscow consulate is in regards to police certificates for minor children of a K-1 beneficiary? My fiance's interview is on Monday the 20th and she just realized that she does not have a police certificate for her child who turned 16 a month ago...
While some guidelines explicitly say that that the K-2 children 16 and over must have a police certificate, they also state that "Police certificate must contain references to each place (subject to the jurisdiction of the Russian Federation) in which the applicant lives or has lived for more than six months since attaining the age of 16" - which does not apply in this case, since the child just turned 16 a month ago.

Has anyone been in a similiar situation? Or maybe can point to a definitive source of info ?

TIA

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Touched After NOA2
So what is it exactly that they DO do with the K-1 petitions at NVC? Do they run checks on the beneficiary? From the info I found on this forum it appears that all they do is enter the K-1 case into their database and mail it to the embassy.. Does anyone have a definite answer or maybe can point to the source of info?
Thanks

National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC has now received our petition!
Congrats to you - and to us too! Called the NVC today at 1:10 PDT - only had to wait for about 5 minutes total - spoke with a very friendly and professional staffer- she said that my application was received by NVC on the 24th - that's exactly 2 weeks from the NOA-2 receipt.
She also told me the case number for the embassy has been assigned, and that the case should be forwarded to the embassy 2-4 weeks from the 24th.
One little quirk: I moved since NOA-1 -about 2 months ago - and at the time notified the California Service Center - got a confirmation, the IMBRA RFE, and NOA-2 -all sent to the new address.
However, the lady at the NVC was telling me that in THEIR system my old address was showing up. She corrected it, and no big deal I suppose, just FYI. Those of you who moved since NOA-1 may want to double check that the NVC has your correct new address...
