K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFinally we have the visa! Thank God!!!

11 months after our initial interview, after AP, a stolen passport, 3 police certificates and 2 medical clearances, we have the visa!! The embassy called Babs last week and asked him to come in this Wednesday with his passport and updated medical. His medical was finished in just three days, he had to run and pick it up on the same morning as his appointment at the embassy. The CO told him that his name causes extra AP, and then he said he didn't want to delay him any longer, so he told him to come back today, only 2 days later, to pick up the visa.

We are just thanking God and praying for a safe journey!

Jen and Babs

Congrats!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFiance sucks!!

We got approved by noa2 a week after he told me that he's developing feelings for another girl. How awful that would be right? Feeling so sure that he's finally the one for you.. And here you are hoping that he will really never live you, build your dreams with him, a life with him but for just waiting just for 3 more months he can't do it?? How could somebody say that he loves you and hurt you at the same time.. By the way, we started january 30,2013. Had rfe around march then got approved on june... Enjoy your life guys!! I don't know where to begin from here but i'll live.

I am very sorry to hear that, but better to find out now than later when you are married. Good luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow long does expedite take?

Hi, I have requested an expedite on Friday last week. That same day I received an email asking for evidence and I went ahead and sent in all the evidence I could and had. My question is how long does it take for me to know if the expedite request was accepted or not and then how long would it take for the approval of the case thru USCIS? I tried calling USCIS today but they are closed due to Columbus Day. :(

They always tell you abour 3-4 weeks. I got my expedite approval letter in 18 days from the day I submitted my request.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresConfused!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,
I am a US citizen who recently filed I-130 petition for my wife. On 10/4/11 I mailed I-130, 5 days later I received my NOA1 with a priority date of 10/5/11. It has been almost a month and I just received another I-797 with NOTICE TYPE- Approval Notice Section: husband or wife of U.S. Citizen, 201(b) INA. The letter states,

The above petition has been approved. We have sent the original visa petition to the NVC. NVC processes all approved immigrant visa petitions the need consular action. It also determines which consular post is the appropriate consulate to complete visa processing. NVC will then forward the approved petition to that consulate.

The NVC will contact the person for whom you are petitioning(beneficiary) concerning further immigrant visa processing steps.

You should allow a minimum of 30 days for DOS processing before contacting the NVC.

The letter goes on, on how to contact the NVC via email. The next 2 paragraph just states although its approved it doesn't grant any immigration status and how they have a right to verify.

My question is, What is this letter? NOA2?

I checked with the USCIS website and it went from Acceptance to Initial Review then straight to Post Decision Activity. It doesn't make sense. Why would it say in the letter they are sending it to NVC within a month. Granted if this is true I am very happy that it would go this fast. Can someone please clarify?

Very Confused,
J

Wow! COngrats you got your NOA2 in one month! most people wait 5--8 months. Your case is moving very fast. Your case is being forwarded to National Visa Center for review (normally 3-5 weeks). Then once it is approved by the NVC, the NVC will forward it to the embassy.

with the I-130 ? no.

There's a doc intake process at NVC - the I-864 is handled there. NOT USCIS.

Same thing here.

We opened a joint bank account when I didn't have a SSN, we weren't married at the time so he was listed as the primary owner. Wells Fargo used my passport as ID.

Once I got a SSN we updated our account, and updated it once again when I changed my name.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresManila Doc. Verification Delbros Process
QUOTE (des @ Aug 12 2008, 03:41 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
QUOTE (chris-lei @ Jul 23 2008, 12:30 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I guess this is how the system goes:

1. We pay DV through Metrobank.
2. We inform Delbros through text that we have already paid for DV, after many hours of waiting, they will reply that they received the payment.
3. Delbros will inform USEM that we had paid the DV.
4. USEM will send a request to NSO that so and so's documents need to be verified. The requests are sent to NSO every monday.
5. USEM picks up the results of the documents verifed every friday and were sent to USEM.

The problem may occur when:
1. The applicants didnt pay DV in advance.
2. When the applicants didnt inform Delbros that they had paid DV.
3. When Delbros didnt inform USEM that the applicant paid DV already.
4. When there is a delay in sending requests to NSO and delay in picking up the results of DV

Numbers to call:
Delbros: 023392761 loc 104

USEM: 02-3012000 loc 5184 or 5185 look for Grace or Lorraine

I hope USEM can fine tune this document verification process soon! God bless you! good.gif

Hi chris-lei and to all vj members smile.gif . need some help from you guys...

I just want to ask if I can pay DELBROS now even if I haven't set an appointment date yet with the embassy. I just want to make sure that all the documents are complete once I set an appointment date (maybe i'll call next week and set my appt. date 1st week of next month) and since most of the applicants are having problems with DELBROS I want to pay my document verification fee as soon as possible or one month ahead of my interview date. Is it okey if i'll pay Delbros before setting an interview date? Hope for your response.
helpsmilie.gif helpsmilie.gif helpsmilie.gif helpsmilie.gif helpsmilie.gif helpsmilie.gif

you can pay the Document Verification fee right away (a month or more) as soon as you have your MNL case number. smile.gif its better to do it early than paying a few weeks ahead of your interview date so as to avoid all the Delbros and NSO horror stories you've been reading on this site. laughing.gif
on a serious note, pay them ahead of time so as to get away from all the hassle this has been causing most of us visa applicants. smile.gif hope this helps!
don't forget to send them a text message regarding your payment. don't just sit back and relax. give them a call to check as well if they are already starting to roll your documents out to NSO. good luck!!!! good.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsIs it normaly so long ?
From what I've seen, it looks like there is a thread in printing the visas at Paris.
It seems they always print the visas on Fridays and ship it right away. If you're lucky you can get it at the end of the week you got the interview (exemple : interview on wednesday, printed on friday, received on saturday) that's what happened to me.
If for some reason they couldn't print your visa the friday after your interview my guess is they are gonna print it the following friday, in your case tomorrow ( July 1st) and you could get it saturday 2nd or sometime monday 4th or or tuesday 5th.
July 4th doesn't matter much because the chronopost people will work.

Keep us updated when you get it. I hope it happens soon.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMilitary Certificates - France

Hi Everyone,

My husband is French, but because of his age did not have to do the mandatory military service. I think a few years before he turned 18, France stopped requiring military service. We've asked for proof that he did not need to serve, but the government office keeps telling him that there is no document available. Has anyone else gone through the IR-1 / CR-1 process in France? If so, did you need the military cert? I'm stressing a little since he doesn't think it's big deal.

Thanks for help

I got my interview today and when they ask about military service I gave them my "certificat individuel de participation à l'appel de préparation à la défense" (sorry, not my fault if the name is so long) aka the JAPD certificate. They had no problem with that. They just ask to have a look at the original of the certificate and kept a copy so don't forget to bring the original to the embassy.

As I applied for a K-1 and your doing a CR-1 it might differ but I'm confident if your husband goes with this certificate it will be fine.

Hope it brought you relief you

Good luck on your journey

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMilitary Certificates - France

Bruno,

Thanks, that would be helpful. I'll tell him about the "journeed de prep" and see if he's done that. I would hate for him to get to the interview and have to wait longer for something like this.

Lotofpatience,
I looked at the link of documents but it's not very clear. My husband was not required to do any military service because they have stopped making it mandatory, but it still seems that he needs justification for that.

Thanks to both of you for responding, and good look on your timelines.

I've looked the link too but I'm not sure if it's up to date because as you say the military service doesn't exist anymore and they explain what document to bring to prove the service or to justify why it wasn't done. I'm hoping it's no longer relevant and that the JAPD certif is enough.

here is a link to the france/america couples thread : http://www.visajourn.../page__st__1155
if you scroll down to post #1169 they are talking about the JAPD certif and it seems the embassy in Paris doesn't even care about that. I'm just bringing mine in case, so I think your husband was right to think it's "not a big deal".

Good luck for your journey and i'll keep you updated.

Hi, I have my interview in Paris and I'm a French citizen. I didn't do any military service either. I just did 1 day called "journée de préparation et d'appel à la défense". At the end of that day I received a certificate stating I participated in this day that replaced the military service. My plan is to bring that certificate for the interview. I can tell you if it works or not.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresUSCIS case status check, shows if there's any RFE's

Hi Guys,

Just nervous a little bit here, will USCIS site show if there any RFE's on the case?

Thanks a lot!!

You can check your status online but sometimes they forget to update it (my case was approved and I have my visa in my passport but it still shows "preliminary review" on USCIS website). It can show if you have an RFE on the online status.

It's not even a month though since you got your NOA1 so relax. I know the waiting can be stressful but you'll see your case move at some point. Patience is the key word at your stage of the process.
