if it means a lot to u that your fiance's mom is there then cancel the wedding. i know your fiance would LOVE for her mom to walk her down the isle. dont worry if you've already sent out the invitations. its not about them. its about what you both want. this is a special day, celebrate it with the people you love. since u've already planned the wedding, c if u can cancel it. if not, ya'll can still have the reception, like an engagement party. send out new invitations, be creative with it..

good luck with everything. what would truly make u both happy?

oh man thats a tough one. my husband and i was in that same situation last year. aug 2009 my fiance, robby, (which is my husband now) and i planned on getting married in the Philippines. my mom's side of the family all lived in the states. my family in the states couldn't come to the philippines to attend the wedding. i thought about it long and hard. even if my dad's side of the family were all in the phlippines and we had a lot of friends supporting us, i couldn't go through it WITHOUT my mom there. that was just a personal choice i had to make. my husband was totally ok with it because he wanted my mom to be with us on our wedding day. good thing we never sent out the invitations. after a year, (aug2010) my husband and i finally got married... it made that day EXTRA special because my mom, my brother, my grandparents was a part of it :) my mom and grandfather almost didn't make it cuz their flight was delayed. they arrive in manila the morning of our wedding. oh by the way my parents are divorce. my dad didnt attend the wedding nor walked me down the isle cuz his 2nd wife got all jealous and he didn't want my dad seeing my BEAUTIFUL mom. she's crazy. they have 5 kids and she's still super jealous of my mom. i still cant believe my dad would do that to me :( any who, my brother here in the states and my half brother from my dad's side walked me 3/4 down the isle to my mom. and my mom walked me to Robby..i think robby was happier than me that my mom made it to our wedding. he knew how important it was to me and he was just glad that my mom was there so i can be happy

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresExpedite and I-130 approved!!
great news! congrats! we've expedited through NVC as well. it took us 8 days from the date when the case # was generated until i received an email saying they will be sending our case to the consulate. i called the consulate yesterday for the first time but they only have our case that was sent electronically. they are still waiting for the actual documents via air mail. i was informed to call next monday or tuesday to schedule an interview at the earliest time slot for january. we didnt have to request for expedite with the consulate. we were approved for expedite in our NVC stage because the consulate gave them the approval to expedite it. I sent an email to NVC, NVC forwards it to the consulate and after a few days consulate approved it

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures( BAD STORY FOR REAL LOVE)

I would also suggest that your wife contact the FTC(Federal Trade Commission) to report that she got scammed. If she sent tax documents to these scammers they could have stolen her identity and could be using her social security number and any other info they got. Which will cause serious problems in the future.

   OP WE ADVISE THAT U DO THIS ASAP. THERE'S A LOT OF BAD PEOPLE OUT THERE. I HOPE THE LADY THAT SCAMMED U JUST TOOK THE 450 and NOT GO AS FAR AS USING YOUR WIFE'S SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER. GOOD LUCK TO U BOTH

have u done your research? that's a tough one. USCIS might think u married him to bring your family member to the states, which will then cause the denial..

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSuccessful Interview

Congratulations!!! i like hearing good news!!! :)

I'll also have my interview on 27 Feb... so nervous now. Hope i'll also meet someone nice there.

Hm... since you have just had your interview.. i'd like to know if they asked anything in detail about your wedding plan? I ask this cuz we dont really have any detailed plan. i just wonder if what they'll react.

For all the others who have had interview... pls kindly give me any opinions about the interview. i'm just so nervous.

THANKS!!!

Sleepybears

She was asked about when she planned to fly to U.S. and when we planned to marry. She told the ConOff that she was flying on the 25th and we planned to marry sometime in April in Las Vegas. The ConOff also asked about her engagement ring that Natalia was wearing. Other than that no firm details on the wedding plans because we weren't sure if she was coming since the interview is not always successful.
Hope that helps you!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSuccessful Interview
Hello,

I just received phone call from Natalia, she was successful at her interview!!!!!!!!

She called me at 2:30 a.m. (10:30 a.m. Moscow time) and I could tell by her voice she was very happy.

She said she was first in line this morning. When they let her in the embassy she went through security similar to an airport process but they kept some of her items especially cell phone until her departure.

Then she took a number (number 1) and waited. When she was called she went to a window and gave a man documents (her DS-156, medical etc, my I-134 with 2004 taxes and 3 previous W-2's, bank and work statements, and he asked for only one photo of us together). Then she sat again.

She was called again and begain her interview, she said she had a nice younger woman that was very pleasant. Natalia said she had the interview primarily in English but sometimes in Russian when the ConOff needed to explain something precisely. She was asked:

Are you married?
Do you have children?
Tell me about your fiance' (Natalia said this led to a few other general questions as if two qirlfriends were talking together so I suppose as Natalia explained our past, present and future she answered the standard questions about how we met and trips together and our future, but it was not so formal and ridgid.
She said they also discussed my divorce, my child, my job, when she plans to travel to America and when and where we plan to marry. She said they never asked for phone records, ticket stubs, more photos, or anything out of the ordinary.

Natalia said it was very easy and she felt at ease after if began. She said the ConOff told her she would have the Visa by February 22 and DHL Moscow. She said the woman was very, very nice. She asked me if American people were always this friendly and helpful, I smiled and said no unfortunately not always.

She also said she did not notice if any other women were successful or not since she was first. But when she was finished and walked back to the waiting area she said the other women were very interested in her experience with the ConOff.

In all I think she was in the embassy about 2 hours. She said now she needs to sit and relax over a coffee.

Looking back this seems very easy and anti-climatic but I know it is because of this website and all of you helping each of us with your experiences. I doubt I could have done this as quickly or error free. I think if I had to just read the directions on the USCIS forms we would have made some mistakes and forgot something. And as we begin the next phase of the paperwork I will continue to read the forum postings.

I smile now because I remember when I started this process I would be in the K-1 forum every few hours to analyze other's timelines (from CA Service Center via TSC) to try and predict when I would receive the NOA2. And I am sure if I returned I would see the typical e-mails of people complaining about the slow processing time of CSC. It was only a few months ago but seems like forever.

Thanks to all of you for your help,
Warren and Natalia

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 question
i don't think you'll have any problems. i wasn't employed when my husband and i applied for the K-1, but my co-sponsors made more than enough. just make sure that your co-sponsors exceed the requirement, so that there's no question. we didn't have any difficulty with the visa process, and as you can see in my timeline, we got it pretty fast.
good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 Affidavit of Support
According to my lawyer, you should put your last address in the US. I had the same issue as you. I was living in Chile when we applied for the K-1. I put my parents' address in the US. I believe that you do need to fill out the I-134 for yourself, even if you don't make enough money (I certainly didn't!). My parents were the co-sponsors, but the lawyer told me to fill out the I-134 as well.

I also wanted to mention that you can put your last address in the US even if you don't wind up living there when you return from abroad. I returned to my old address for about 2 weeks after coming back to the US, and then moved to a different state. I've applied for the adjustment of status from here (new address).

My husband is also from Brazil and went through the Rio consulate. He didn't have any problems. I hope it all goes well for you too. Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMoving soon after arrival
I don't know about not living together after arriving in the US. You might have problems with AOS. Unless you are planning on living together as soon as you get married, or something like that. USCIS might see it as proving that you don't have a legitimate marriage. I'm not saying that, but who knows what they would think!)

Moving isn't a problem after arriving in the US. I moved after the K1 process, but before my fiance arrived. We applied for AOS from our new location (different state, service center, etc). I think moving DURING either process might be a bit complicated, but between the processes is fine.

Hope this helps.

my fiance called them and started the process. they said they gonna let us know within the next 5 days. wow...I am so nervous checking my mails now. I don't want to get my hope to high tho, what if they deny us the expedite?
if they do, can we try to talk to a supervisor or something?

it would be more than needed to get noa2 soon. otherwise I have no idea how we can settle everything before my fiance deploys in dec.

again. thank you for your post. if we get noa2 soon, I will hang up ur picture and light up a candle for u every day for the rest of my life!

:D. That picture and the candle comments is funny. :)
You are welcome. I am glad I could help someone. I still have not hear anything regarding my expedite. I am starting to think that means bad news. I wish you the best of luck with yours. I am not sure if you can talk to a supervisor.

really?!

this seems like a joke! first they didn't tell us that we could have gotten married in Japan and file directly through the embassy(that's way faster!), and now they tell us ###### on the help line...

what a bunch of jokers down there at VSC!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I will talk to my fiance as soon as possible to start things moving!

again, thank you so much! first time after weeks that I got hope again. according to IGORs list, right now VSC has a standstill. the expedite would be a blessing!

my fiance is in the air force and has to go to the Emirates this dec.

is there any chance we can make use of the expedite as well? I got my noa1 on nov.22 2010.

the USCIS helpline told us no hurry, cuz we will be approved by dec. on the other hand, USCIS told us many ####### before. we used to live in Japan and could have gotten married there and filled the directly through the embassy.

but of course, no one told us...

Yes, he has to call the military help line number in USCIS, talk to a rep and ask to initiate an expedite request due to military deployment. Then USCIS will foward that request to the Service Center. The service center will contact your fiancee via email (in my case the same day). The email will ask him to fax a copy of orders (or a letter from his Commanding Officer), and a letter from him explaining his reason for his request. What I cannot tell you is how long it takes to get a response? I haven't gotten mine yet. I submitted my request on 4 Feb and faxed my documents on 7 Feb. I am still holding my breath. I hope this helps. Please let us know your progress to give us an idea on a time fram. Thanks and good luck!

I received my NOA1 on 9 Nov 2011. I am an active duty naval officer. I just found out that active duty service members may be elligible for an expedite for deployment reasons. I wish someone had told me this 2 months ago. I called the USCIS military help line and they helped me submit my request to expedite. The same day, I received an email from the VSC asking me to submit a copy of my orders and a letter from me explaining my circumstances. I did so on 7 Feb 2011. I still have not heard anything back regarding the expedite request.

I just wanted to put that out there for any possible active duty service members in the forum. Feel free to contact me.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVISA Fast Track!

In no way bragging...I had low hopes upon finding out that Vermont was moving at the speed of a slug! My NOA1 date was in late January! So I open my messages expecting to see an RFE and was dreading it! Imagine my shock when I see my petition approval or NOA2 and that its heading to the Natl Visa Center! OMG!!

My advice to to others...use Visa Journey's guidelines and form examples to maintain a thorough package and pray!!!!!

Congratulations! Good luck on the rest of the process. The truth is that no one can provide the actual reason why some get approved faster than other. Let's just be happy for those who do. Congratulations!   :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK1 FIANCE VISA DENIED - now what appeal or k3 visa?? responder en español tambien

There's also way too many people in this thread referring to the OP as if she was the petitioner. The OP is an Ecuadorian national - the beneficiary. The petitioner is an airman in the US Air Force stationed in Germany.

Currently being in the military, my advice is to ask the base legal service office for assistance reviewing the pettion prior to sending it again. This is a free service and being stationed overseas, they are well experienced.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI 129F approved yesterday!

Wow, I was getting a bit nervous. It was going to be 5 months on the 9th since we received the NOA1. I was checking the mail with hope every day, and was very discouraged yesterday. So before going to bed I checked my case status again, even though I thought or read we get notified by mail first... So after my jaw hit my desk I just had a very relaxed laugh. Needless to say, I wasn't ready for bed yet:) They said my petition was approved and was mailed that day (the 6th). Now while we're waiting for the NOA2, we can start to concentrate on the physical, vaccinations, etc. Thank you all for any questions I've had here and the Thailand thread. I'm sure I'll have more soon! :)

Congrats! a couple of more moths. Hang in there.

Thank you all for your generous advices.
I have learned so much here in 8 months. The details in the Consulate Reviews were very helpful.

I know this is just the beginning and I will surely continue to seek the help and advice of those who have gone before me.

Thank you all once again.

Best wishes to those awaiting their visas.
