Congratulations!!!
I checked the boards 3 times this morning to see if you had posted anything about your interview. Our case has been following yours--about a month behind--so I am always happy to hear about your success!

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionabout the employer letter and more questions

I am currently working at a great job but it unfortunately is seasonal and ends in early September.

Another question I have: what is the reason for the duplicate or triplicate, whatever it's supposed to be, copies? Do I need to send originals and copies of everything, the co-sponsor financial data, etc? Will the co-sponsor need to include a copy (or two? or three?) of his birth certificate?
Thanks!

After your case is sent to the Embassy your fiance will get packet 3 which will tell you exactly what paperwork you will need for the interview. The packet should also tell you if originals and/or copies are necessary. For our interview we provided the original and a copy--the originals were given back and the copies were kept.

If you don't have an employer letter, I would say you definitely should plan on having a co-sponsor.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMedical Exam
The results from the medical exam are only valid for a year. So even if the embassy were to accept the results--they are outdated.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionwhen can u say you are APPROVED?

We'll to give you more details. I just had my interview last August 10 at the US-embassy Manila. I did not ask if I am apprioved or heard the consulate officer who interviewed me that I am APPROVED. But after the final interview, less than 5 minutes of waiting, they called me up again to pay for the delivery. I really do not know how one like me know that I am approved or denied. I received a lot of confusing answers lately. They say that once you are called and ask to pay for the delivery, you are approved. I really do not know. Could someone tell me from those that are applying here in the Philippines, how does that works? How do I know that by paying to Delbros means you are APPROVED?

My fiancee had his interview last week and the officer told him he was approved.
Since they didn't ask for more information or tell you that you were NOT approved, I would guess that everything if fine.
I have also seen people post about getting a "pink slip" at the interview--which I think means you were not approved, but need to provide more information.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionGot an emai from the Embassy
I have read here on VJ that some embassies require different forms. I believe the I-864 is a form similar to the I-134. Perhaps the embassy you are going through uses I-864 instead of I-134?
That's all the help I can give--I have never heard of a certificate of being single.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDo you need ALL pages of your 1040 tax returns?

Hi, I was wondering for the affradavit of support, do you need every page of the tax returns including all the itemized deductions, captial gains loss or gain worksheet, schedule D, etc? Or do you just need to submit the 1040 itself?

My fiance made copies of every page of three years of my tax returns--and the person who collected his paperwork at the interview never asked for any of it. They didn't ask for my bank letter either.

If you already have the copies made, just send them. It is better to have too much evidence than not enough.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWedding plans

Depends how straightforward one thinks their case is...

I agree. If you are sure everything will go well at the interview, then go ahead and choose a date. But if you have any doubts about the outcome of the interview, it would probably be safer to wait.

We chose our date long before the interview, but we didn't order invitations or put deposits on anything until after the approval at the interview.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPACKET 4 QUESTION.....

aloha,

i was wondering where does the respective consulate send the packet 4? do they send it to the beneficiary in the usa (as they did with the packet 3) or do they send it to the petitioner in his or her foriegn country?

The petitioner is the USC, the beneficiary is the person who does not live in the U.S.
Packet 3 and 4 are sent to the beneficiary, since that is the person who needs the information.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionFew I-134 questions.
Since your income is sufficient you don't need to report the money in your savings account or any other assets.

I only recorded my wages--even though I have two savings accounts, a car and a home. My understanding is that you only need to list other assets if you don't make enough money through your job.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionk-1 visa medical question
He should probably get the spot on his lungs checked out by his own doctor.
High blood pressure is a health concern, but it is not on the list of medical conditions that would result in a denial.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket 3

Please what should we expect packet 3 to contain.Do we need to include police reports and avidavit of support while returning the packet 3 to the embassy or is the police report and affidavit of support required at the interview stage

Each embassy seems to have different guidelines, but usually the affidavit of support isn't needed until the interview.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Got a letter....
Yes they do. I even got my long form birth certificate mailed to me yesterday (I missed it) so now I have to call and have it resent back since I'm not able to pick it up where its at right now. Oh well at least its here! Its amazing how quick things are going. It's almost kinda scary because I know that interview will be around the corner soon and that is the part I dread the most.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Got a letter....
My fiance got a letter today from the NVC. Our application was recieved on July 17 and the letter went out to him on the 18th. It's nice to know it didn't get lost between the service center and NVC. The address on the envelope was New Hampshire....is the NVC not in Chicago anymore? Either way at least its there!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMontreal - still waiting
 Somehow I think that is not allowed. I think they would make a big stink about someone wanting to transfer. I can't believe there are ONLY two embassies in all of canada that handle this. Unreal. I'm about fed up with this #######!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterviews

I think Becca is right. The consulate in question does make a difference, I'm sure, but I think most often, the non USC attends the interview on their own.

I am hoping to go to my fiance's when the time comes, but I'm starting to think that I'd rather save that time and money to help him finish packing, and fly back to our home with him in tow. (L)

I'll be leaving when I get the visa so my fiance will be coming over here in one fell swoop. For the visa, to help me pack and then to move me back. I think he is going to take 2 weeks leave of absence from work to do it.

B) Well I'm glad the Montreal embassy permits USC to go inside the interview. I'd feel better that way. We knew from the beginning that when it came time to go to the interview he was going to go with me. We have planned for it. He just visited and is not coming again til interview time in order to save vacation days from work for it and save up to fly here. I'll be going right back with him if I get the visa!

Jerry was unable to get away from work to be there with me. I got through it fine. :)

Yeah for those that can't get time off or for financial reasons but I think if those are not problems then the fiance should be there with their partner. It just looks better!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterviews

My fiance flew to Vancouver to go to interview with me last Tuesday, and it sure was a good feeling. We stayed in Vancouver for 5 days and made a vacation. It's such a great city and a lot to see.
I was feeling much better with him around than if I had to go alone. I would highly recommend for fiance to join in the interview if possible. Consular officer even asked him some questions, and I think it shows them that he/or she cares.
Good luck in your interview
Senka

You mean the fiance is allowed to go into the interview with you?? I was wondering about that beacuse I know I'd feel better having him beside me. Interviews of any kind are nerve wrecking enough. If not though its still ok cuz at least he will be with me.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterviews
I just thought I'd get a feel for who has/will be going to the interview with their fiance. My fiance is coming from California to go to mine (whenever it shall be) with me. I can't imagine not going to the interview together. If nothing else it will be for emotional support. It really doesn't seem to me that a lot of partners go together to the interview. Why is this? Jon is taking off time from work to go with me and then we'll be going back together hopefully. He'll take 2 weeks off work to go with me too. I would think most partners would WANT to go together because its such a huge milestone in the process.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussioncriminal backgrounc check

do you have a criminal record? if not you don't need fingerprints. RCMP doesn't do the check it's a service they use. At least in Southern Ontario.

Well I looked on the RCMP website and it says you need to get fingerprints for a background check and it lists visas as one of the reasons you need it done. This isn't the first time I've heard about not needing fingerprints on here though. I'm so totally confused. The guides didn't say anything about the criminal background check that I recall so I'm up in arms over what to do here. I need to figure it out though because time is moving.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussioncriminal backgrounc check
Anyone that can tell me how long it took from the time of sending in the paperwork for the background check to getting the actual results back , that would be great? I haven't gone for my fingerprinting yet (YES we do have to get them at our local police station) and I'm just wondering about the time frame. Do you take the results with you to the interview or does the rcmp send them directly to the embassy? Thanks guys. :help:
