US Embassy and Consulate Discussionlist or required shots

dora_david,

Vaccinations are not required for a K visa, unless your particular consulate has made a local policy about it. But the vaccinations will be required before adjusting status and for most people it is more convenient and less expensive to get them in their home country prior to getting the visa.

Google form DS-3025.

The vaccines required for Adjustment of Status for people between the ages of 19 and 64 are:

Td
MMR
Varicella

If you don't have written proof of those vaccinations, the civil surgeon will do a titer test.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhat do they do at the medical exam...
I had my medical here in the US, but I thought I would share anyways. First I had to fill out a bunch of paperwork and had to answer questions regarding my medical history...then the nurse asked about my weight, took my blood pressure, asked me for a urine sample, and drew some blood; in addition to that I had to undergo a tb test...after that I met with the doctor who looked over my vaccination record and it turned out I only needed a td booster...then she checked my breathing, eyes, ears, throat, and did a quick breast exam...3 days later I went to pick up my results. I received the results in a sealed envelope for USCIS and got a copy of the I-693 A Supplemental form for myself.

Note that no vaccinations are required at K1 level; that follows later when your then wife applies for AOS.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionEmbassy In London Changing Procedure?
Nothing seems to have changed. My husband had his interview in August '06 and at that time people who called (and posted here) were given information similar to what you were given.

Look at other people's timelines here on VJ. You should be able to predict when your interview will be scheduled based on other people's information.

I agree with the previous poster, don't waste your money (or your time) trying to talk to the Embassy on the phone.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionSponsoring fiance
If you are going to be the sole sponsor, you will need to show you have sufficient income (125% of poverty level) or show that you have sufficient assets.
Some embassies require a letter from your employer.
If your unemployment is temporary, perhaps your employer could include that information in their letter.

I believe you only need to show one year of tax documents, but for AOS they ask for your last three year's income.

If you don't have sufficient income, you will need to get a co-sponsor. You might consider a job that is not in your field, just so you have an income.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionSerious Problem!!!!
I doubt the denial of the tourist visa will affect the K-1 petition.
If the subject comes up during the interview(very likely), your fiance can explain that the engagement was broken off, then reinstated when the tourist visa was denied. Since you became engaged very shortly after meeting, it seems logical that your fiance would have fears/concerns about moving to a new country with someone she has only known a short time--and that would explain why the engagement was temporarily broken off.

No, you don't need to fill out those forms.
I think they are in the packet your SO will receive from the embassy--after your petition had been approved.

Can you give a few more details?
From what you have written, it sounds like a visa was issued and then withdrawn??? Please explain.

If you never entered (you said you were denied entry), then you weren't deported. Perhaps you could explain why you were denied for "misrepresentation".

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-864 Line 25 Question
Since your parents file jointly, that means they both have access to the total amount of $$ listed on their taxes--no need to separate the amount into his and hers. If there isn't a space to add your dad's name (on the same form), then just put mom's name, but their total income. You might want to include paystubs/W-2's from both parents though, so there is proof of the combined income.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Affadavit of Support... Just how much?
If your income is sufficient, you don't need to include $$ in savings accounts or other assets, such as your car, home, or life insurance.
I sent the employer letter, 3 years of tax returns, and the notarized affidavit of support. That was it. My husband(then fiance) had his interview at the London Embassy last summer.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionage difference of couple

I didnt plan it this way, but my fiance is 25 years younger than me. We have had a few talks about our age, and it doesnt matter to us.

anyone know where this puts us with the embassy interview?

thanks

There doesn't seem to be any rule about age differences--but 25 years is quite a difference.
Others might be able to offer you more specific advice if you give more details--especially which country/embassy you will be dealing with and who is older, the man or the woman. It seems that some countries accept large age differences more readily if the man is older.

I think the wait time is pretty short, we just put in for my daughters interview for her K-4 visa and they gave us March 28th so about 3 weeks from when we submitted. Last year for my wife it was only 2 weeks for her K-3 interview from when we submitted, seems like BKK has not been too bad for wait times.

Great info. Thanks so much.

I wonder if they accept w-2's and 1040's for k1's and want tax transcripts for ir1/cr1.

Yes it is good to be at the same stage as I am at the same embassy

Jeffrey also confirmed that they took his 1040's and W-2's as well. I believe they would take either one (transcripts or 1040's).

Andy,
Great news for me. I just got a PM from Kaiser (got approved last month). He only sent them the 1040's and the W-2's for the last 3 year. That is exactly what I already did. It looks like my fiance is going to be ok for her interview. Either way, as soon as I get the tax transcripts from the IRS, I am going to email them to her to take to the interview. It can't jurt, right?

I emailed the embassy today to see if they received the packet 3. As soon as hear from them I'll be sure to let you know. It is nice to have someone at the same stage of process as me from the same embasy. It is nice to compare notes.

Andy,

Daryl also confirmed via PM that he also only submitted his 1040's and the emabssy accepted that with no problem.

I am the USC. My fiance already sent the packet 3 to the Bangkok embassy. We are waiting for the packet 4 with her interview date. To this point in our processed, I submitted my 1040's and W-2. So, today I read some posts talking about tax transcripts. There where mixed answered depending on the embassy...Some VJ members said that they used their 1040's and their W-2's (just like I did) and they didn't have a problem. Other said that they submitted their Tax trasncripts from the IRS. Well, I just got off the phone with the IRS and they are going to send me my last 3 years worth of transcripts just in case. I figure it cannot hurt. I am hoping that the transcripts make to me on time for me to send to my fiance so that we can at least have them for her interview. I am worried about that.

Here is my question...Are there any Bangkok VJ members who submitted their 1040' and W-2's (no tax transcripts) during their interview and got approved?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK-1 Interview Day schedule in the Bangkok Embassy

Good luck! Thanks for the info on how long the wait is. Yes the embassy closes for american holidays and thai holidays. How do I get that job? Today Pui just paid for her visa fee. Does she then have to fill out the online ds-160 to setup her interview? Or does she call the number on there and give the 15 digit pin to set up the interview date?

Andy,
All she did was to mail all the documents requested in the packet 3 to the embassy. Once the embassy received the returned packet 3, they will schedule an interview appointment for her and notify her via email.

I am just putting this out there for those wandering what the wait time is at the Bangkok embassy is. We just got our packet 4 via email. Our interview day is 26 April. Lately, the Bangkok embassy has had a 2-3 week wait from packet 4 arrival to interview day. however, in our case the wait in between is 4 weeks. One thing to keep in mind during April in Thailand is all the holidays. Perhaps, they are closing for Thai holidays too. We are confident we have everything we need and that we are ready for the interview. Wish us luck.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionEmbassy rescheduled the interview but no invitation letter yet inthe mail

According to the invitation letter we received from the Bangkok embassy via email, the original interview is April 26th. Last week, my fiance (beneficiary) received a phone call from the embassy stating that they rescheduled her interview for April 20th (which is great because it is sooner). They also told her on the phone that she would be receiving in the mail a new invitation letter with the new date. However, it has been one week and she still received nothing in the mail. I know she is suppose to bring the letter with her for her interview on Wednesday.

If on the 18th, she still has not received her new invitation letter, I am already planning on emailing the embassy for further instructions; however, I know that they are not the fastest at replying back. Can not call the immigration unit at the embassy because their listed number is a general embassy number and they will not transfer us to the IU. The only way to contact them is via email.

I am not sure if these questions are embassy specific, so if you have knowledge of the Bangkok embassy, please reply:

1. What should she (beneficiary) do if she has not received the new invitation letter before the 19th (which is the day that she is travelling to Bangkok)?

2. Will the embassy still allow her inside without her invitation letter?

Thanks!

UPDATE: The embassy replied back to my email today with a new letter of invitation for tomorrow. :)

Everything will be ok. They changed the date because other people cancelled.
She should just go to front entrance on the correct date early that morning. Her name will be on the list. She shows her I D ect & they will let her in. If there is any problem she can tell them to call into the embassy for instructions. Tell her to be polite but firm with them.
She can buy a special pin number at any Thai post office that allows her to call directly into the embassy if she has questions.

Ning,
Thanks for the advice. She is going to do just that. She is going to be there at 6am. We are just getting anxious. We have been waiting for this for what seems to be a long time and want to make sure everything goes well the first time around. Thanks again!:)

This is not at all true. Have her purchase a PIN at the post office. She can then call them and speak with an actual person to get it straightened out. You may also be able to check on the website for the interview schedule if it has been updated since they posted it.

Did they not email either of you the interview details after the phone call? We never received anything via snail mail, I think it goes into a memory hole as soon as the mail leaves the embassy. I'd double check in your email and spam to make sure they didn't email you a copy you can print and bring with.

I checked the website schedule. They have made no change. It is my understanding that they only update the website schedule once a month.
No, They did not email neither one of us. I double checked the spam folder and nothing there. She is going to try to go to the post office on Monday to buy a PIN. This is going to be all new for the both of us, so hopefully, she can get in touch with them. Thanks.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK1 Visa Approved after Interview

Well what can i say, well here is a brief outline of how my day went.

Appointment was scheduled for 08:30 and i was at the embassy by 07:30 and there was a line of about 10 ahead of me. I was asked to show my Interview letter (packet 4) and also my passport and my MRV Visa receipt. I then waited in the security line and we were called forward 4 people at a time. We were reminded that no electrical items were allowed. Once through security i went round and up the stairs to be greeted by a receptionist who asked for my MRV form only and he scanned the bar code and gave e my ticket number I902.

I was then asked to go take a seat in the waiting room and wait for my number to be called forward, there was about 20 or so people aleady in the room, all with different applications and various ticket numbers i was 3rd in line for immigrant visa as the numbers start with I900 for immigrant visa.

I sat there patiently but nervously waiting for the screens to start displaying the numbers, there was no air condition so i was sweating like mad as if i was waiting to be executed ( not that i have ever been in that situation but i can imagine how it must be) 8am exactly the screens started there were a few non immigrants called and then at about 08:10 it was there I902 to window 1 please!

i took the long walk up to the window and was met but a nice Chinese lady, she asked me for my ticket numbers that were given to me by reception and my passport, she then asked for my police certifcate and birth certificate, she wanted originals and copies SO MAKE EXTRA COPIES. She then asked for supporting evidence from my lovely lady so i handed her over an employment letter and a copy of the I134 i told her that i had W2 and 1040 but she said no thats fine i dont need them, i think once they see an employment letter they take that only. I then told her i had supporting documents from my co sponsor but she didnt even want aything from her even though my lovely lady doesnt make enough money.

Shortly after she asked for 2 passport pics and i haded those to her, she then said ' these photos are really bad im not sure i can use these the quality of the paper is not great' i mentioned to her it was from an approved photographer to which she accepted. Once all these documents were taken she gave me a pink courier slip and asked me to fill it in and then wait to be called forward.

I went back and sat down, at this point i was desperate to use the toilet but no way would i go because it said on the pink form if u r called to a window and miss ur number then you wil hae to reschedule your interview! there was no way i was doing that for the sake of my bladder!

I then bought a coffee from the back of the wating room and sat down, at about 0830 i was caled again to window 15 wich was in a different hall i was the greeted by a very friendly american gentleman by the name of Howard who looked a little like Santa. He didnt really ay much other than how did u meet and when you get to america make sure you leave plenty of time in between flights as each POE has different processing times. He then explained to me about the courier service and how NOT to open the brown envelope and this must e handed it at POE. He then said looking at your skils you should have no problems getting a job and then said congratuations i wish you the best of luck for your wedding THAT WAS IT BIG SMILE ON MY FACE!!

Ithen wet to pay for the courier service which was about £14 for standard mon - fri between 8-6pm although there was the option to pay a little extra if you WANTED IT BEFORE 8AM, 10AM OR 12PM, i paid a little extra and opted for before 10am. THEY DO NOT TAKE CASH OR AMEX AT THE COUNTER.

I then left the ebassy and that was that really had a double sausage ad egg meal from Mcdonalds and now enjoying the lovely sunshine!

All in all it took 90 minutes for the friendly process, i would reccomend getting your photos done elsewhere as the machine in the embassy was not working.

Just hope the Ryal Wedding does not delay the postal system now as i was told by Howard!

Good luck Uk filers and hope this has been of help!

congrats
