No, just that it's at CSC. I never got a transfer email or letter about that.

I called again today. Got a nice girl on the line, and after a bit of persuasion she transferred me to an IO. He was a bit reluctant at first so I told him how worried I am about my case being lost and if he could tell me if it has been transferred to CSC. He told me the case has been transferred to CSC and my N-400 interview is scheduled for June 17! I was chocked! I don't trust anything they say really, so I continued to ask him if he could see what time and which office (we have 2 here in San Diego) and he gave me the time and place for the interview. O boy I sure hope this is correct. I don't believe it until I get the letter in the mail, but right now I am happy smile.gif

Yes, we are still waiting. No emails or letters about the case being transfered to CSC and the online status is the same. No touch since February 2007. 2 weeks ago I sent more supporting documents; updated lease on our apartment, new insurance policy etc. I ordered tax transcrips for 2007 as soon as our return was accepted. Received that yesterday and mailed it to Nebraska today. I also mailed a copy to CSC to update the N-400. I don't know where my case is, or my A-file. I have called several times to try and find that out, but no luck. My congressman is helping, sort of. He forwards emails to me from his liason, but it's mostly nonsense. No specific information about my case, just general info. I suspect my file is at CSC already, because of the N-400, but that's just my guess.

Ha, we are in the N-400 citizen processing now, as soon as we filed our application, all the field office dates moved back from June 30, 2007 to May 29, 2007. That's progress?

What about?

Sending a letter to the CSC office with our latest IRS tax returns, dog registration, and color photographs of our family and dog sure helped us. It not only let somebody at CSC know we paid a bundle of taxes, but we are real people that love animals, not just names on a sheet of paper.

All I got from our congressman is what can cause global warming, and to borrow a word from our teenage daughter, Ombudsman sucks.

Right about now I'm thinking we'll be tagged for an interview. Not that it's a problem, we've been together since 2003, it's just the hassle and annoyance of the whole process. A day off from work and all that again. We sent plenty of evidence. I guess we're just one of the unlucky ones..... sad.gif

Just FYI for the group, my wife checked her status online this morning and sure enough, her claim was transfered from Nebraska to God knows where. I assume California? We have yet to get an email or snail mail notification of this. Jenny, our claim is 12 months in, and we were about to contact the senator after the 27th. Since you are well beyond 12 months, you should consider talking to your senator.

I already did. He's liason says that my case is already at CSC. This is probably true, due to my filing of the N-400 to CSC in January (I have lived in California since April -07). I have also filed 2 useless service requests. Now I'm waiting for the citizenship interview letter. I have more or less given up on the I-751.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionNew processing times - is the USCIS lying?
My congressman sent me this reply today from his contact at NSC. It confirms the transfer to CSC:

"There is a process in place where the I-751's are being sent to CSC. It appears from service records that the A file is already at the CSC office (He refers to my case and the reason my A-file is already at CSC is probably because I filed the N400 there in January). I will inquiry with one of the adjudicators that still works a few I-751's and see if it can be sent soon. I'm sure NSC is doing everything they can to get these I-751's out to CSC."

I called USCIS but they couldn't tell me anything new. The guy didn't know anything about the transfer, I never got to talk to an IO. He did file a new service request, my second for this case. He wrote down in the request that my congressman is involved. Hopefully that can put some pressure on it.

I got a letter today about the service request from December 14. Standard letter. Useless and a waste of time.

"Service records show your case is currently waiting to be reviewed by an officer. You will receive a decision or notice of other action once your case is adjudicated."

I had an Infopass appointment today. I got a stamp for 6 months. The lady was really nice but she didn't have any answers to why it is taking so long. The service request I filed on Dec. 14 had not been touched at all yet, so that is just a waist of time.

Hi everyone, I notice one of the people on this list has a service request, I couldn't find a post about it and was wondering what date this was placed?

My husband has a contact in Homeland Security that contacted someone in our local office to place a service request. I have no idea if this will make any difference, it seems that it doesn't since that person is still on the list here.

Just wondering if anyone has had any action on a service request? My husband is expecting miracles, I however am skeptical.

I placed a service request on Dec. 14. I haven't heard anything yet. I really don't expect anything to come of it. I haven't heard from the congressperson either. I have an infopass appointment next week to get the stamp, maybe I'll get some answers then.

I have a reciept date with NSC of January 18 2007. My case is still pending I have heard nothing from them since my biometrics appointment.

I am getting really fustrated, but all I can do is wait. I did do the service request and the response I recieved was your case is pending we will notify you of any decision we make. NOTHING new.

I hope to hear something soon.

I have the same receipt date, January 18. I haven't heard anything either. Nothing from the service request, nothing from my congressman. I filed the N-400 today to CSC.

Hello, I am so glad to find this topic! My husband filed for removal of conditions with an I751 of 1/16/2007 and we have heard of others who filed THIS summer and already have their renewed GC (NOT at the NSC though). He is going through the ceiling with disbelief at how this could take so long.

Feel free to add him to the list as CAPG. I751 Notice Date: 1/16/2007, biometrics 2/15/2007

Here's what we have done so far. A few weeks ago we called the NSC and found that the Customer Service Reps knew less than we did, they just read from some sheet of paper exactly what we could already read on the web and on our paper form. Called again about a week later, same exact experience. This person did express surprise that the online status had passed the 1/16/07 date and we hadn't heard anything.

Then he made an InfoPass appointment, we went there last week. There were less helpful there. They did give him the stamp in his passport so he could travel but got testy when asked why it was taking so long, she had NO information as to why or what or anything.

My husband also contacted an immigration attorney he told me to wait until 30 days past the receipt date, I doubt an attorney will be able to do anything.

As for the person who said the online status is the date the apps are put on someone's desk, that is not correct according to the website: The easiest way to monitor our processing time is on our website, where we post the filing dates of cases that we are now completing. We list this information for each kind of case and for every USCIS office and service center. This lets you project how long it will be before your case is completed.

So as the Orig Poster stated, they are being less than honest.

Correct... they state the word "completing" not completed... note the difference.... Taking a file off the shelf and placing it on an adjudicators desk is what is termed "in the process of completing"... It does not say "We have completed to this date".. A big difference...

The wording is different here:

http://www.uscis.gov...0004718190aRCRD

"The processing times are for applications that have been just completed."

I have extended the list to everybody who applied later than the last approved I-751 but before the transfers to CSC speeded up processing. We share the same fate, regardless if our NOA date is before or after that official but ridiculous USCIS date of processing. I've also removed the service center column (all are NSC) and added a column for comments about service requests etc. If you're not in the list but should be, please add yourself or post your data separately in the thread.
Important: If you are on the list and get approved, we would like to know it - please write a posting in this thread.

ok so you have had bad service at the post office.. what does that have to do with blacks and Mexicans?? blink.gif unsure.gif

Perhaps I should have said the Post Office hires nothing but visible minorities who believe they can't get fired because of their special status. And because of that, they show very poor workmanship.

I'm not racist against Mexicans. In fact I was just saying the other day that I've never seen one begging for change at a stop light. The only time they're standing on the corner is when they're looking for work and bothering nobody. The Mexican restaurant down the street has fantastic service. Very friendly. They're hard workers.

Sorry, I don't usually get involved with these kind of arguments, especially online where it is easy to misconstrue someone's intentions. I just think it would be better to keep these type of arguments to face to face discussions, because I find your attitude really offensive, and I think I do have the gist of exactly what you are saying. I'm sorry that you get bad service at the post office. I think it is pretty unlikely that you are able to surmise exactly WHY you are getting bad service each and every time. I had extremely bad service there last week from a caucasian lady. And the week before from a black man. *Maybe* it is just a poor corporate culture. I personally wouldn't like working there and it would affect MY attitude a lot. Who knows. Maybe it does have something to do with equal opportunity laws for a few people. But it is very unfair to tar an entire race/ethnicity with the same generalized, simplistic, dismissive brush.

I will tell my Mexican husband to make sure he doesn't hang out on any street corners unless he is "bothering nobody", looking for work and being as inconspicuous as possible. Sorry, that was sarcastic and unfair, but generalizations like yours make me pretty upset.

I don't mean to revive this argument, but please think before you post potentially inflammatory and hurtful comments online where we can't have a face to face discussion.

Yes!! Target. Love as well. Almost everything shopping related is much, much better. Palm trees and good beaches in the same country as me! Really cheap last minute vacations to the Caribbean when I get my GC. Mexican food. I second Las Vegas - yay! Tons of choices for ski resorts. Cheaper cars. Awesome accents.

CanadaAOS while on a visitor visa from Canada?
We did this! We're in AOS process right now. I'm patiently waiting for my AOS and AP.

I don't think you'll have any trouble proving intent on entry. Keep in mind you have to prove that you had no intention of IMMIGRATION rather than no intention of marriage. It seems a bit like semantics...but there is a difference. I have a letter from clients stating I was booked for ongoing jobs in the spring (I am a private contractor), a mortgage, I brought my car down on my visit and the insurance expired after three months, etc, etc. Bills, cell phone, everything. Our wedding WAS spur of the moment but that is not central to my case in my mind.

We got married after I was here 2 months as a visitor soI didn't overstay, so I AM planning on leaving on AP. AP seems to be a very vague grey area but from the research I've done, if you were not in overstay when you applied for AOS it's okay to use it. I might lose my ability to appeal if I get an AOS denial, but I have added up the pros and cons (I have many personal reasons for needing to travel), we've decided I'll probably use it in May. Don't take this as correct, this is my own personal risk I'm taking here as there seems to be no perfect answer I can find.

Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I'm not done yet but I can comment on the process thus far. I don't know about the police report question, but anything else. There are definitely lots of Canadians on here who have done this and are currently doing it. It is totally legal and acceptable, as long as you can genuinely say you did not have the intention of immigration when you entered.

Same here with the late advice - nothing to add except...when I was ready to come coming down here on a K1, it was kinda the same. I'd just bought my own (great) place, started a successful business, etc. It was a huge wrench for me. At the same time, we were looking at buying a house down here, hubby was contemplating a gigantic career move, and we were planning our big, elaborate family wedding. So many big decisions at once. So I called a HUGE time out. I decided to just come down for a few months, to test the waters, see if I liked it, and if everything felt right. That decision was hard enough.
But it did feel right and we ended up eloping.
In no way am I suggesting you do what I did, but it just helped to take one decision at a time. Now that I made a decision and am down here (and dealing with the fallout of just up and leaving with everything hanging!), it is easier to make more decisions. NOW we can think about a house, NOW hubby can think about a career change. NOW i feel good about planning a party with my family. I still mourn my house and business, but we can go back to those things - they aren't lost - just on hold.
You will find everything SO much easier after you make the first decision. And you are frustrated right now becasue you can't make any choices till you know what's available.
So! I hope you find out about the promotion soon!! Good luck! Even if you decide not t take it it will feel good if you get it. asnd you might be a little relieved if you don't. So you have three great options!

Thanks Trailmix and Zyggy:) You guys are awesome.

Trailmix - I'm not exactly "out of status" - I think my status is "AOS pending". But it certainly is not as cut and dried as if I had arrived on a spousal visa. Luckily have zero overstay accrued as well.

So, Zyggy, I should wait till I have been parolled back into the US using my AP, and send a copy of the I-94 (hopefully they remember to give me one). Since the customs form calls for a copy of an immigrant visa, which I don't have, should I include copies of anything else? Or does the I-94 have all the info that customs needs?

Would it be smarter to play it safe and wait till I have my GC or is there really no difference?

Thanks again - I would be soooo lost without all of you:)

Make sure they give you one... gentle reminders work nice..

ANd yes, fill out the CBP Form 3299 and give it to your shipper then fax a copy of the I-94 to your shipper once you have crossed over. The I-94 is good enough, there will be a notation on it stating that you are awaiting AOS, you won't need anything else..

Thank you thank you thank you!!!

CanadaShipping my stuff - but I have no I-94 or visa
Not sure if anyone here has experience with this. I searched and found nothing!
I am adjusting from visitor status, filing I-130 and I0485 concurrently. I have my EAD, AP and an interview set for the end of June.
I'm now looking at shipping stuff down here to CO. I'm going home to Canada in a few weeks and would love to pack up a upack crate then, or at least ship my summer tires so I'm not driving around on super-duper snow tires all summer!
But I know I need to fill out a customs form and that it calls for a copies of the I-94 and nonimmigrant visa. Since I don't have either of those things, having entered as a visitor and not received a stamp on entry, I am wondering if I have to wait till I have my actual Greencard to be able to ship personal stuff, since I am really only in "AOS pending" status right now.
When I go home for my visit and return to States using AP I know I will be given an I-94. I guess I could use that?
Anyone know?

CanadaAdding a Canadian fiance/spouse to US bank acct
I was added and got my own Visa Check card before we were even married - they just used my passport:). We are with Wells Fargo. The lady we dealt with didn't actually know what the rule was - she decided to just try entering my info into the computer without a SSN and it worked.

CanadaImport my car to California or Colorado

This gets asked about often: http://www.visajourn...h...=128624&hl=

Lastly California has stricter emissions regs than most other states, so you may be able to import the car to the USA, but may be unable to register it in California.

QUOTE
Vehicles Purchased From Out of the Country

California has special requirements for vehicles imported from other countries (including Canada and Mexico). It may be very costly and in some cases impossible to modify these vehicles to meet California emission requirements and/or federal motor vehicle safety standards. For example, vehicles manufactured to be sold in Europe (gray market vehicles) less than two years old are not legal for registration or use in California.

Thanks YuAndDan,

I think I am all clear on actually importing my car into the US (I know CA is a bit stricter about emissions but my car is very new - but more than 6 mos - so I think it'll be not too costly). My question more relates to actually registering it in that state. Will I have to pay sales tax in California to actually register it? You do in Colorado. So I'd like to avoid that by maybe waiting to officially import my car (I have a year to do that) and not registering at all in Colorado.

I know I should have registered it in CO within 30 days of being there (that's the state law), so I am running a risk waiting a bit longer till we are in CA. I am just not totally clear on what the rule is about registration in each state - the DMV websites are confusing.

CanadaImport my car to California or Colorado
Sooooo, I just found out we are probably moving, fairly soon, from Colorado to California. I've had my car down in the States for quite a while now, being wishy-washy about what to do with it, but I know I really need to import and register it down here (yeah, I know I should have already done this and am probably breaking all kinds of rules....oops).

So, my question is:
Should I import it and register it in CO, or should I wait and register it in Cali??

In Colorado, I know I have to pay sales tax to register it. I am not sure exactly what this is based on or how much I'll be on the hook for.
I don't know what the rule is in California. But if I have to pay sales tax there too, it seems silly to register it in Colorado for a few months, then pay tax again to register it in Calif.

Thoughts or advice, any of you wise ones??

Similarly, I have still not applied for a driving license. I think in CO I only have to take a written test. Does CA require a test or will my Canadian one be a sufficient trade?

My next major hurdle is my Toyota Loan. I just found out I am not supposed to have the car down there. Oops again. I never knew that....Man, I wish I was not so attached to this car!!! I should just sell it.....

Ok so finally I got my Biometrics interview....

From what I remember I need to bring $80 cash?

Just wanted to check from the board since prices may have changed.

Thanks in advance!

No, it is included in the $1010 you paid when you filed I-485. So you have already paid:)

CanadaGoing Stir Crazy
Whatever you do don't start obsessively plucking your eyebrows when you are at a loose end. I got really carried away in my first month here and totally overdid it. I am still recovering and finally don't locked surprised/electrocuted.

CanadaIt's Sex and the City Day!!!
I like the show, although I have never been obsessive about it. My husband, no the other hand??? LOVES it. He called me the other day (I am visiting Canada) to say that he wants me to know that before I ask, of COURSE he will take me to see the SATC movie, in fact the very night I get home. Ummmmmm, okay? I am totally his decoy!! And then, he'll complain to all his friends about how I dragged him to see it. Sigh. Like he did for PS I Love You, 27 Dresses and Dreamgirls.

I vote Florida too, or somewhere in Colorado like Breckenridge or Aspen. The resorts are great in the summer - so beautiful - and there is tons of great hiking, restaurants, and hotels. You could probably organise just yourselves and an officiant on one of the mountains outside - and you could just ride up on the gondola.

you could contact one of thjose companies that find drivers looking for a car to drive across country. I can't remember what they're called, but my Mum did that when she moved from TO to Vancouver several years ago. An older couple who wanted to see the country drove her car I think. Cheaper than having it shipped.

Good call Reba thanks!! My husband suggested that too. I don't know why but I am very protective about mt little car!! I don't know if I want anyone else driving it:) I have a bright gold Toyota Echo hatchback, which they never, ever sold down here in the States, so it gets a lot of attention down here. Right now it is our only car too, and my poor hubby doesn't say too much, but I am pretty sure it is an affront to his manhood after his big Ford F-150 we just sold. Heheheh. He would just LOVE someone else to drive it to California instead of us!!

But, great idea and I WILL keep it in mind:)

Yep, Upack was a bit more expensive than Uhaul. Plus, we'd STILL have to drive my car from CO to CA, so we would not avoid the driving anyways...And I am the same as you Laura - we don't really have a huge amount of stuff.
Ugh. I actually still also have to move my own stuff down from Canada as well. So it's going to be TWO horrid U-Haul trips. Oh well! We have a rule that we have to eat breakfast at IHOP every morning on non-pleasure related road trips, which definitely helps.

We are moving from Boulder to San Diego in August, and for the first time, all our stuff won't fit in a borrowed pickup! The least expensive option I have found is renting a 10' cube van from U-Haul and towing my little car. Cheaper than driving the car AND a van. None of the other companies I have found will allow you to tow a car with a 10' cube van. I think with gas and everything we are still looking around $800-$1000 though. Anyone seen anything less 'spensive???

I sure haven't and I've done a lot of research.

Uhaul seems to be the cheapest option going.

Thanks Laura! I think we are gonna have to suck it up and realize it's not that ridiculous a price...I've looked and looked too:)
Sigh.

CanadaThe other side of the fence...
Most of what I'd miss has been said already - Mail system, Mexican food, Target, palm trees (we are moving to San Diego yay!!). Also have to add cheap mani/pedis. The constant sunshine (I'm from the West Coast). Nordstrom Rack.
