Why are you waiting until the last moment to get the RFE in? What was exaclty requested? What did you send inititally? This will help others who have filed or have yet to file to make sure all is well

There's no reason why we waited so long. Just ... a bad move on our part. Initially we sent pictures and bank statements and income tax returns and copies of things such as theme park passes we hold with both names on it.

It's asking for rental information, letters from people who communally know us, statements from me (the resident removing conditions) about my marriage, financial records....

I think the main thing we need to provide is residence information. We rent a house with my sister in law from my husbands mother....

It's all so confusing and I will never leave it to the last minute again.

So.... we just have people who know us write a letter and sign it?? I'm so confused. I get so nervous when it comes time to deal with all this paperwork lol.

Sarah

Essentially that is all - they can follow the format in the Example (you could even do it for them if you like and just have them sign it) - so it's kind of consistent - there is a place to sign and notarize (in the example) but notarizing isn't required. Relatively simple but I can feel the frustration you must be feeling.. girlwerewolf2xn.gif

Yeah, I think it's because of the time crunch I'm under. Don't do well under stress.... Thank you for your help smile.gif

There isn't one specifically for a rental agreement - the Example Forms section has an example of a sworn statement/affidavit.

We don't have time for a sworn statement/affidavit. I'm doing the Statement which is the last option on the list of RFE suggestions.

Not sure why you don't have time for it - it's a simple matter of typing it up and signing it.

Don't you have to notarize it?

No no0pb.gif

Just a statement written by me in detail about my marriage. we don't have enough time to do the sworn affidavits thing. I had asked hubby to do those back when we got the letter but .... he didn't want to and is sure we don't need them. I feel we need them but we have to mail the pkg out this week as we are on vacation next week.

Hi everyone,

Forgive me if someone has already posted this.... but I'm under a time crunch here and need your help. We received an RFE last month and are due to submit more information by the 23rd of this month. I need to make a Statement and was wondering if there was an outline somewhere that I could use as a reference?? Also, one for a Rental Agreement?

Thanks,

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAPPROVED!! Received 10 year Green Gard :)
Hey everyone,

I just wanted to update you and let you know I received my Green Card (10 year) last weekend :) My interview was December 4th and was pretty painless. No problems at all. I feel so great. This has been a long process and I'm glad to be done with worrying about it.

I'm in the midst of moving and I checked the USCIS website but there were 2 change of address forms. Which one do I need? I looked in a search on here but didn't find anything so I hope i'm not being a pain in the ####### asking this?

Thanks,

Sarah

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionPlease help!! Missed my ASC appointment by 3 months!
Maybe someone else has some better advice, but I would just walk into the Biometrics office closest you you asap (like, tomorrow) and see if they will do it. I walked into mine early, so I guess you can walk in late. They have obviously worked out now what your new address is.

USCIS mail says "do not forward" on it.

I see the earliest biometrics so far is for July 15th. May I suggest, why don't you guys try to walk-in for biometrics? It's gonna save some precious waiting time :)

Just my $0.02

I'm going to try walking in tomorrow, as my appointment is when I'd hoped to be away. I walked in early for my Bio appointment for AOS with no issues (although that was in Denver and I now live in San Diego).

However, I don't know if this really speeds up the process....

But it did have my name change! I wanted to take a hyphenated last name, so I filled everything out in the new name and included a note about it in my cover letter. It worked!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionVery confused! I file 90 days after 1 year or 2 years?

Hi all,

I am very confused by the wording of filing the I-751. I have entered the States and have been married for less than 2 years. I take it that I have to file the I-751 right? If I entered the states on July 15, 2010, does this mean that I have to file within 90 days of July 15, 2011, or within 90 days of July 15, 2012? My understanding, was that I would have to file THIS YEAR, but my husband thinks it is next year.

Also - do I definitely have to pay this biometric fee? I don't understand what it actually is.

Also, for the affidavit for proof of friends knowing you are married, can we also use American family members?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

IF you go to guides and select "lifting of conditions" it tells you when to file. From me reading it, you must file no earlier then 90 days of the experation of your green card but before the green card expires. The date you entered the US is irrelevant. The date you must take into account is your green card's expiration date.

Here is the quote "When to File:

If you are filing jointly, the I-751 form must be filed within the 90 days just preceding the expiration date on your permanent residence card. This is the date that your conditional residence expires. Note that, despite the fact that you may see word "anniversary" used in a confusing way regarding the filing date for removal of conditions, your wedding date is completely irrelevant to determining the window of time during which you may file for removal of conditions. If you and your spouse are outside the United States on orders of the U.S. Government during the period in which the petition must be filed, you may file it within 90 days of your return to the United States. See the USCIS webpage for more specific instructions, and search the forum for stories of several people who have done this successfully.

Here is the link http://www.visajourn...ontent/751guide

Here are the instructions from USCIS: http://www.uscis.gov.../i-751instr.pdf

Hope this helps

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionEnough evidence, hopefully?!

We are sending out my husbands stuff tomorrow for Removing Conditions. This is the following that we have:

Tax transcripts for this year
Photos
Greeting Card for our second wedding anniversary
Bank statements checking and savings

unfortunately that is all we have. I know it doesn't seem like much but it's hard when we dont have anything. Opinions?

What about your tax returns and transcripts for the previous year? did you file as a married couple?
Can you get a lease agreement of some sort? or if you are living with your parents or friends, can they give testimony of this?

Good luck with everything!

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion10 year Green Card
According to your timeline your were approved more than 2 years after your wedding so that's the reason you directly got a 10 year GC and not the conditional one.
You do not need to remove conditions as there are no "condition" to remove on your GC.

I also read around here that some people that lost their GC, when they applied for the ROC, they attached a copy of the police report. They lost their GC only a few months before their ROC. In our case we lost it over a year and a half before my husbands ROC. I wonder if that would be ok???

Thanks for the input guys. Unfortunately we only have a copy of the front NOT the back. So is it safe to say that we should file for a replacement card ASAP. I read on the website that we can file a waiver not to pay the fee. We just have to meet the income requirements. I'll have to look into that. Thanks for the suggestions, keep em coming! :)

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionLost conditional green card.help
Hi. My husband came last feb 2011 and in may I lost my wallet and it had his green card in it. We had taken it to show his new employer. I saw on the USCIS website that a replacement is $450 plus biometrics $80. We don't have that amount of money, unfortunately. I have a police report if the incident. Should I file for a replacement or should we wait for his ROC and submit the police report. His ROC is not until December 2012. Police report date was may 2011. What should I do? My husband is not having problem getting a job because he has a ssn. I'm just afraid of the consequences cuz he doesn't have a green card. Just a photo copy of the front of the card.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionInsufficient Evidence
Yep, you definitely need to try and get a joint deed. This is very important, as well as joint home and car insurance. You can also put each other's names on your car titles, therefor having joint ownership.

When I went for my AOS interview, they were very happy to see silly simple things... such as our gym memberships, grocery store point cards, and shared netflix account! I also showed bills that were just in my name, but where my husband was an authorised user, such as ATT (he gets his phone from work, so the account is just me).

Dont be afraid of sending too much, especially if they have asked for more... send up to 5 months worth of bills, if possible, some dating far back over the last 2 years. Maybe it is worth opening another credit card together, just for the sake of evidence?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionComplicated residency situation.... advice please!
OK, so I do not need to file for lifting conditions for another year, but I would like to know what I need to collect and get together by then.

The situation at the moment, is this.... my husband (US citizen) has started a new military related job, that will require him to travel across the USA for 2 years. He is presently in training in his hometown in Ohio, and is staying with his parents. I am still here in California, staying in our apartment while I attend classes. Once these classes are over, in the summer, I will be joining him on the road, as we do not want to be apart and he will earn enough for the both of us. While we are travelling, our tenancy in California will be over, and we will be using his parent's house in Ohio as our home address. I will be starting my masters degree in september 2011, in Chicago, and my husband will join me there 6 months later, once his contract is over.

I have been thinking about all the things I will have to send in my lifting conditions package, and am looking for opinions and suggestions. I will be sending the package in Summer 2011.

This is what I have considered so far:

California (July 2007-July 2010)
Joint Tenancy agreement
Joint Utility bills (Electricity and cable)
Joint renter's insurance
Wedding certificate, Nov 2008
Joint tax filing for 2008 and 2009
Photos of wedding in California and UK
California Driving licenses

Constant throughout move (July 2007-filing date)
Joint checking and saving accounts
Joint credit cards and statements
Joint AT&T phone bills, on family plan (a few from each address)
3 Affidavits from family and friends
Proof of travel together to England in December 2010
Photos with friends and family from various times and places

While on the road (July 2010-filing date)
Affidavit from Husband's employer, stating his temporary travelling job, and that I am accompanying him
Affidavit from Husband's parents, stating that it is our place of residence during travels
Proof of their ownership of the house
Photos of our travels
All the hotel and temporary tenancies from across the country, in both our names
Joint 2010 tax return
Proof of college acceptance and potential move to chicago, once job contract is over
(we have plans to buy property there in the near future, but am not sure how to prove that).

Any suggestions or add-ons to the list would be much appreciated, so I have plenty of time to get it all together!

THANKS!

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionbiomtric worry.........
Thank you, calling them was very successful. The lady on the phone has sent a request to the California Service Centre, and even given me a refference number for it. Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionbiomtric worry.........
It has been nearly 2 months now since I received the NOA of the I175, and I have not yet got any more letters in the post, let alone my Biometrics appointment.

I understand that it can take a long time to process, from person to person, but according to the VJ timelines the letter should average in about a month (unless I am reading it wrong). USCIS are currently using my in-law's address, as I am travelling around the USA with my husband (he is a government contractor). My mother in law is looking out for it every day, but not being there is making me worry even more.

Is there any way I can find out if I have missed it? Do I have to make an infopass just to find out?

Has it taken anyone else this long? I am really starting to panic... we have come so far, and it would be such a shame if USPS let us down at the last minute : /

Thanks...
