PhilippinesJust found out my girl passed the medical!!!
QUOTE (rockhouse @ Aug 19 2009, 06:16 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Just talked to her. She said she passed with no problems! She had to get 3 vaccines, all included in the medical fee.
She said that the guard at the clinic needed her NVC letter for the MNL #, and the lady inside needed her "appointment letter" email from the embassy.
She said that it was super-busy, like 200 people in the clinic.
Anyway, she passed and we are praising God right now. Now her and her mother have an extra day in Manila to celebrate along with 8,000 pesos! good.gif

Congratulations!!!! good.gif good.gif
my fiance just past her on the 18th. She said same thing, people were very nice and helpful....but there were a lot of people, she got there at about 5:30 or so, and she was 132....hahaha.

Well, very happy for you both!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif

PhilippinesWhere does he live?
I know, my fiance has not gone through the interview process yet,...so I can not refer to her experience...but I have much experience in asking questions and getting information...and that is what the interview is about...gathering information (documents/questioning) that can be evaluated and then a decision rendered...approved or denied.

Most time if a person just answers the question simply, and not expanding, then there is less a chance of raising a red flag. Sometimes a person can say some thing, they think is innocent, but it creates problems, and what I have read here, USCIS and the entire process is not really interested in explanations, just brief facts.

just my opinion, good luck

PhilippinesBIG FIGHT
you know....I have a really nice Iphone....but I forget it in the car, in my house all the time. I got a call from my dad (83 yrs), who always monitored us on the phone when I was young, and he tried to calling me one day, I did not answer because I did not have my phone with me and he was kind of scolding me. I told him dad, hey, I lived most my life without a phone glued to my hip, it does not matter to me that much to me.

It happens, and to him a phone might just not be the most important thing when he steps out. You can be upset because you were worried, but be happy that he is ok and nothing happen to him. To me being upset is one thing, being angered is another. 2 different levels, ha ha ha.

Remember, arguments can have very lingering effects, because some times people say things more out of emotion than to prove a point and those things can be hurtful. Sure people can say they are sorry, but the statements are still stored inside the brain.

Save your energy for more important things, like making love!!!! kicking.gif whistling.gif

PhilippinesI am so SAD!!!
Hi...sorry for you situation...I hope things can be worked out for you both....you know...property/material things that a person possess might have been first acquired during a time involving an ex-spouse/partner. I do not know what significance the bag is to him, but it could be just some thing that he kept, not really thinking of it having any memories of his ex, but just has some use or he maybe never even thought about it.

It sounds like to me that he has exorcized your home pretty much of items that he had with his ex, but there might be a bag, there might be a picture frame, there might be a lamp, who knows what still there that is left over from his separation. To me it is not a matter of retaining them for memories, just that they are property and have some purpose, and no meaning/memories. There is a difference in sleeping in the same sheets as he and his ex did or having their picture on the wall, that you should be concerned about and he should be sensitive to your feelings. But it sounds like he has pretty much taken your feelings into consideration and you should be give him a break and not be so jealous. I am not saying your feelings do not matter, I am just saying, try not to to be so worried about every little item. But if he is keeping the bag because she gave it to him on their xmas vacation in the cabin type of situation and carries this warm memories of what he had at one time, then he needs to cut lose the past and enjoy his future with you.

I have a feeling this argument went from the bag to other things. It is those other things that you shared between each other during the argument that probably need to be addressed.

Just some thought of mine from reading your post....again I hope things work out.

PhilippinesEmbassy Interview Scheduled
Hi everybody....my fiance just got the last of here required documents, and has passed her medical exam at St Lukes....we are so very happy, yet we are both kind of nervous and anxious. I know this is some thing all people have delt with.

But last night right after she told me to go ahead and schedule the interview and my flight (because I am going to visit her and family for 2 weeks and attend the interview with her), I got on the computer and started looking at flights and the calendar trying to see what fits our schedule the best.

Before I called I had my copy of the letter the embassy sent out with tracking number etc. It says that must have a valid email address, ok no problem. So then I called and the lady asked me what is Rhiz birthdate, I know it is in Sept, but I could not remember her date, and then she asked me for her address, I had to get out my address book and gave it to her. I felt foolish, because I thought I had everything in front of me that I was going to need, wacko.gif wacko.gif and I do not know if it goes down as negative thing because I did not know her birthdate, I just had so many different thoughts in my head.
That is what I did wrong, I was trying to think, that always gets me in trouble, laughing.gif laughing.gif

Well, as it is, I fly to my wonder lady on Sept 8, 2009 and our interview is Sept 14th,....her birthdate is Sept 15 heart.gif biggrin.gif

PhilippinesA Newborn's Conversation with God

Hi to all the moms here, I found this, I bet most of you have read it before, but I was moved by it very much and wanted to share it with your mothers. God Bless all Moms!!!!!

A Newborn's Conversation with God

A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow,
but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"

God said, "Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."

The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have
to do anything but sing and smile to be happy."

God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you.
And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."

Again the small child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand
when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"

God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words
you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will
teach you how to speak."

"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"

God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach
you how to pray."

"Who will protect me?"

God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life."

"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."

God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach
you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you."

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth
could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave
now, please tell me my angel's name."

God said, You will simply call her, "Mom."

PhilippinesYour Filipino Wife/Fiancée
you know...I have to admit it crossed my mind at first, not because of anything Rhiz did or said that made me wonder....but just because I have gone through unpleasant situations before in my life, there was that little bit of wondering. I do not live in the past and I do not judge based upon the actions of other people.

I agree there has to be trust to have love, and it is not just us USC that have to trust it is also our fiancé's and spouses, let us not forget that it is them who also taking a chance that the person is who they present themselves to be. Has anyone ever come to the USA just to find out that the USC is abusive or has not presented himself accurately.

Rhiz, has never asked me how much money I make, never asked me how long takes to get green card or how long before conditions are raised etc etc.

Honestly, I trust her with all my heart. I do not think I am blind, I just believe that if people do not have trust to begin with, then how close can their relationship truly be, since they will spend time suspecting each other motives/actions. wacko.gif blink.gif

Philippinestipping government workers
I know that when I went with my fiancee to the embassy in Manila, I noticed on the entrance walls a couple of large signs saying that paying for assistance is not allowed, and if any one approaches you they are not embassy personnel. I can not remember the exact wording, but was warning people not to do this. I know it is because it is so common amongst the filipino government, like people have said, but not there in USA Embassy. Nobody approached me, but someone approached my fiancé prior to us getting on the property and in line. Once I saw the sign, I knew they were just trying to scam some money from my fiance'.

So you might get some assistance from other things working within the filipino government, but nothing at the US embassy.

PhilippinesAmendment of passport

I've been trying to call the Philippine Consulate but it always goes to voicemail for a week now, so not lucky at all. I had my passport name under my previous annulled marriage in the Philippines and I plan on having it amended to reflect my current married name. I understand that I have to do the report of marriage with copies of marriage certificates and money order for the charge. What other requirements do I have to send? NSO marriage certificate with annotation? or the certificate of finality? For those that have already been in this road please help!!!

Hi...right now we are doing the same thing....we looked on the internet, saw that the phil consulate was doing and "out reach program" close to our area, so we just send in by fax the required forms and documents, now we have to go in person to give money, fingers prints and passport type photos. You have to complete a Report of Marriage form which requires, copies birth certificates of both, copies of passport and ID/Drive License, and divorce papers of husband. they have a list on the website of required documents. Also they are going to a "readable" passport and suggest that any person who currently has a "green" passport renew and obtain a readable passport. You have to appear in person to get a renewed passport because of finger prints etc.

We live in the San Diego area so they are coming down on a saturday, which makes it a lot easier for people to get the new passports, without having to go to Los Angeles during a weekday. Check out the consulate website that you come under and you might see what I am referring to, good luck.

PhilippinesBack Seat Drivers
Hi husbands of Filipinas.....Just today, as my wife (Filipina) and I were driving around doing some errands....she said something like..."drive careful....you don't have to drive fast".

I started laughing...and I said....wait a minute....I'm not driving fast...and I am very careful.....you don't even have a license...and I noticed you are becoming a "back seat driver". She said...now that she has read the DMV booklet...she knows. :innocent: ..hahahaha....I then told her...hey, all the times we rode in a bus....on a trike...in a taxi in the phils...and they we driving close, almost hitting people, etc...I never heard you say anything about...slow down, be careful, etc.

We had a laugh....and I thought it was funny...so I just wonder....is anybody else encountering this behavior...or am I just blessed?

I do love her...but I still think it is funny.....my driving is boring and so very safe.....especially compared to the way most people drive in phils.

The first step that we have to do is get him the passport...but as required...the personal appearance of the mother is needed for illegitimated children. I am working right now, I cant go home now but I'm going to Phils by December 2010. Maybe we'll just file another application for him after I get him his passport this December2010 when I get to Phils. :(

PhilippinesChange child's surname to mom's maidenname

WRONG!

See the link in my signature. Child born out of wedlock then the mom has sole custody & rights for the child...

your link is really a good help, i understand it now. i appreciate it!
mark&rhizMalePhilippines2010-02-27 16:46:00
PhilippinesChange child's surname to mom's maidenname

Ok, I did a little searching and you cannot change a stepchild's name (K-2 visa) through just the marriage of the K-1 to the USC. The USC must legally adopt the child if you want the child to have the last name of the USC. This is consistent with the laws for step children already living here in the U.S..

Edit to Add: For Rhiz - I would think that as long as you can legally change his surname in the Philippines, when you finally petition him, you would just need to show immigration documentation of his name change. As far I understand - under Philippine Law, mothers of children born out of wedlock have sole legal rights to the child.

Thank you very much for your quick responses Galts gallstones:star: This way i can set my priorities on what to do first. For sure, I will just let his name change done in the Philippines.

PhilippinesChange child's surname to mom's maidenname
Hello everyone!

Just wanted to get some suggestions from you regarding my matter...

I am here in US now, married to a USC and is currently under AOS. I have a 4-yr old son, he is still in the Philippines w/ my mom's care. He is currently carrying my ex-bf's surname and I want it changed to my maiden name while he is in the Philippines. We are not married w/ my ex and the ex is no longer in the picture right after I gave birth to my son. Maybe he just waited for the birth certificate to be done so my son can carry his name.

As to bringing my son here in the US, i have decided that i will find a job first and be stable before bringing him here.

When I also entered US as a k1 VISA last sept 2009, I have already given my son's birth certificate copy to the immigration, bearing that ex's surname. What can you suggest? pls...this is really important to me..

I really appreciate everything...

PhilippinesDoes your wife think the US is too cold ?
I was just joking with my wife the other day....she arrived in LAX the end of October 2009....it was a sunny, little windy day, about 75 degrees...we drove to our home in San Diego, ate lunch on the bay, she said it was cold, had a sweeter on, and yet she saw people walking around in shorts and short sleeve shirts. One of the things she has come to enjoy wearing is a warm bath robe of mine I never wore, ha ha ha, she just sits around the house snuggled in it....but now...she has adjusted very much.....2 days ago we went to do some errands and shopping...she wore shorts, short sleeve and sandals....and was saying....wow, it was hot, ha ha ha...and it was 74 degrees....we even talked about it because I started to laugh....but now that she knows a little bit of what cold is about...she does not want me to take her to the snow...hahaha.

PhilippinesWhat are the requirements for report of marriage?
Hi...we live in San Diego, and come under the LA Consulate. If you go to their website you will see they have an out-reach program for renewing Passports and Reporting Marriage. I noticed they have a session scheduled for June 19 and 20. We used their same services here in San Diego. It is not that bad, actually just have to have forms required. First FAX them to the Embassy, they will then put your name on the appointment on their website. If you lack some thing they will post what form it is. Then at the time of your appointment, actually get there just a little sooner, show up with all the original docs, and for the ROM, have 4 copies of each required doc. They aren't going to make copies, ha ha ha. Also, the husband will also have to provide 4 passport type pictures for them, but they have to be with a blue background. They will have some one there to take them for you if needed, but be ready to pay $20 for you and $20 for your wife's pictures. But since we had all the copies we were able to do the ROM and the Passport renewal with her married name. Rather painless, and I was so happy we didn't have to travel to LA to complete this, so check it out, on the Consulate website, out-reach program, Las Vegas.

Hi! Same here...PJ of NSo told me that my name is common (Catherine) so verification will take 2-3 wks daw. He told me that July 14 and 21 when I kept caling them for follow-up since NSO releases DV results to Embassy every Friday. I paid my DV June 26, I got interviewed July 3, and my DV was done Aug 1. Now Embassy told my husband that they already received my DV from NSO on Aug 4. And Aug 5 the Consular Officer started reviewing again my docs, and it will take 2weeks, HMP!!! So I'm now stuck waiting...waiting...waiting...and still waiting....What a long WAIT!!! headbonk.gif helpsmilie.gif mad.gif

PhilippinesCommon name DAW!
i was actually given the same excuse. my full name is CATHERINE JOY FERNANDEZ DELA CRUZ. yes, it does sound and look common but my maiden middle name isn't - OLIPAS. and I think gabrielle is right about having other data checked like the date of birth, birth place, parents' name, etc. so i dont know what other reasons they have to delay the document verification process.

this is actually weird. getting marriage certificates and other documents printed in NSO paper actually came from NSO itself. receipts can prove it. it can't be tampered. so i don't see the point as to why the USEM started all this run-around.

additional income for the Philippine gov't??? this is getting so frustrating. we've paid for lots of money for this whole thing so they should at respect us whenever we call them for follow ups and also to make sure that they are doing their jobs.

No wonder the Phil government never really got out of the third world country status. tsk tsk...
