IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresExpedition of petition approval at USCIS and NVC levels?
Most definitely do an expedite! Have u submitted the I-130 yet? If u have and already have a receipt notice (NOA1) with your receipt # u can call USCIS and ask for a service request for an expedite due to medical reasons. Start gathering your doctors notes/letter stating your condition and needed treatment. Within 5 days after u submit the service request, u will get an email from the officer working on your case asking u for evidence to support your expedite request. He will give u directions in the email on how to send it to him, usually via fax. Expedite usually takes up to 90 days for them to approve it. I got an approval after one month. Some people get an approval less than one month.

When u get approved with USCIS, your case goes to NVC. Once u get a case # from NVC, give them a call and ask how to request for an expedite. They will give u an email address and they will tell u what to put in the subject line to send an expedite request. Usually they forward your expedite request to the consulate (in your case, Mexico) and they will accept or not accept the expedite. If they do, NVC will forward your case to the consulate and everything that wasn't submitted or done in the NVC stage, u will complete in the consulate. In my case, our case was forwarded to manila (Philippines) consulate. Once they received it I was able to schedule an early interivew. I kept calling and asking if they had it in the system. Once they did I booked an interview date. If u have any questions u can message me. Read around the forums cuz there are great people here that are more than willing to help the "newbies". Hehe

If u look at my timeline u will c our journey has been smooth and speedy.3 months after submitting the petition with USCIS, we were able to get an interview date :) I truly believe prays can do miracles. God is good alllll the time! Good luck!

Your husband will need to take all of his documents that have not been processed to the embassy, where they will process them on the day of the interview.

sounds good. like u said yours took 10 minutes? i hope ours goes smoothly as well. thank u again for all your help :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC grants expedite.Fwd case to Manila Consulate
RichiJenny, thank u very much for your advice. when u said everything will be done at the consulate and to bring the original documents needed, u are referring to the Interview date correct? just clearing things up :)... my husband hasn't gotten a physical yet. i'll tell him to do it SOON..i hope you're right about getting an interview date soon. just knowing an interview date is set makes me feel A LOT better...... My reason for expedite was more of a emergent situation than a financial hardship. I never supplied supporting evidence based on my financial situation. My aunt enlisted in the US Army and she leaves behind her 7 yr old daughter for me to take care of while she is away. i sent in her enlistment contract and my little cousin's school registration. I just said that if my husband was here, he would help me look over my cousin and at the same time he can also work to provide for our family.

My mom, has been working for United Airline for 19 years. I still have the privilege to fly with United for free. and at times we just pay 10-20% of the ticket price. Should i provide proof that she works for United just in case the person that interviews us asks me how i can afford to fly to the Philippines? last time i flew to the Phil it only cost me $300 round trip. my husband's discounted ticket would probably be around 600$. Manila to Hong Kong, Hong Kong to LAX. it would be my husband's first flight internationally and i would like to accompany him. im afraid he'll get lost if he flew alone haha :P so both our ticket would approx be 900-1000$ thats pretty good knowing it's for the 2 of us. if i let him fly non-stop from Manila to LAX it would cost us more. $1,300 PLUS the hassle and worries if he's OK or not.. can u tell, i spoil my husband hehe.

One last thing, i read on other threads that if u expedite with NVC u'll have to request for another expedite with the Consulate? i'm a little confused by it because when I requested for expedite with NVC, they told me that they had forwarded the request to the Consulate and it was up to the consulate if it will be granted or not. if anyone can clear this up for me i'd greatly appreciate it :D

GOD IS SOOOO GOOD ALL THE TIME!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC grants expedite.Fwd case to Manila Consulate
hello once again. NVC has granted our request for expedite. I was informed that our case will be transferred to the US Embassy in Manila. I had already paid the AOS fee online. Since they are mailing my case to the Consulate in Manila the agent i talked to from NVC said I should not send anymore documents to them since they will no longer be processing it. All questions should be directed to the Consulate. She said that the Consulate will be mailing the Packet to my husband with the instructions on what comes next. So as I understand, the AOS packet from me and the IV packet along with the interview packet, my husband will have to take it to the interview? or does my husband send the AOS packet and IV packet to the consulate instead..

i am also planning on going to the Philippines to accompany him to the interview. what do u guys think. Rating my husband's proficiency in english (1 bad- 10 great) i'd give him a score of 5. he understands english. but depending on its complexity, he sometimes cannot compose a CORRECT sentence using the right grammar. i'm just scared that he might say something that would end our case to a visa denial :(

thanks in advance

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC Expedite
My experience with expediting through the NVC goes something like this....

once i received an nvc case number i sent that expedite email right away. i also sent the choice of agent through EMAIL. if u wait for the hard copy through air mail it can take a while... while waiting for a reply for my expedite request, i paid the AOS fee. i never sent the packet. our case was with the NVC for 8 days. once the expedite is approved, NVC forwarded it to the manila consulate. once it left NVC, they cannot do anything else with the case, not even schedule an interview. Once it reached the consulate, u can call them and let them know that your case is expedited. i dont know how other consulate are, but when my case reached manila consulate, they had no idea that it was an expedited case. they had to "look" into the files/case to verify. they will not check unless u TELL them to. when youre on the phone with them let them know that your case has been expedited through USCIS, the NVC and u would also like to make sure it gets expedited through the consulate stage. u have to be polite on the phone, persistent and proactive. i called almost everyday until my husband received an interview date. in his interview, thats when my husband submitted the AOS packet and IV packet and also thats where he paid the IV fee. thats just in our case, it just depends really. if your paid the AOS and IV fees during the NVC stage/ online, keep calling NVC or email another expedited letter to follow up on your first request. whatever u don't complete in the NVC stage, you can submit the packets during the interview. UNLESS NVC INSTRUCTED FOR YOU TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT. good luck with the rest of your journey! :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow to prepare the I-130
hi guys :) my husband and I just got married last aug 20th. I'm back in the states and soon will file for the petition. i've heard so many things so i'm a little confuse. DO WE REALLY NEED THE NSO CERTIFIED MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE WHEN FILING FOR THE PETITION? I have a certified true copy from the municipal of the town we got married at. will that be enough? if i dont supply the NSO certified marriage certificate im afraid we'll get an RFE :( hope to hear from you guys. thanks

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresphilippines NSO marriage cert REQUIRED?

Yes, you only need a photocopy of the NSO Marriage Certificate, not the original.

So as soon as your husband gets it, have him scan it and e-mail to you. What we submitted for our I-130 was just the photocopy of the NSO Marriage Certificate.

thanks guys :)

yup, that's what i did.. my husband applied it at the local municipal for nso right after we got married and it took like 2 weeks before he got it.it was in cavite though...tell them to rush it..

ohh cool. we're from cavite too. originally from noveleta but he moved to kawit in 1995. what town r u guys from? yah we had it rushed before i left the phil. they lady said we should have it before september ends

Hello VJ members!

My husband and i got married in the philippines last aug 20, 2010. im back in the states and trying to put the package together so i can file for the petition. I've heard several info, but do we need the NSO CERTIFIED MARRIAGE LICENSE or the CERTIFIED TRUE COPY FROM THE MUNICIPAL TOWN WE MARRIED AT IS VALID ENOUGH? I have the certified true copy but im afraid if i submit that instead of the one from the NSO, we'll get an RFE for it :( hope to hear from you all soon.. god bless and thanks in advance :)

I have had two "J1 summer work and travel" visas, and am now worried, after reading this thread....

How do you know if you are subject to the 2 yr. HRR, and what does that mean, anyway?

Thanks visaman99 for posting this question and bringing this to my attention!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion: What are the documents given back to us @ the POE?
You will never get anything back. You hand them the envelope, and they keep it.

You fill out an I94 on the plane, and you get your half back from them. Your visa will still be in your passport.

I suggest you start to order original copies of documents again, so as to allow time for them to get to you before you apply for AOS.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsPeople in the NVC stage of their K-1 visa

Once in a while, USCIS likes to move an approved petition to an off-site storage facility, or some random-#### USCIS office by mistake, instead of sending it to NVC. That might have happened to you :( If noone knows where your petition is, you tried the nvcresearch mailing address, you tried USCIS ISO, try your congressman.

I have already contacted my congressman and they agreed to help me with this... I just hate to be stuck in between the USCIS and the NVC...
Hopefully they will find my petition once my congressman inquires about my case.

I just want to thank you for your support you guys are awesome!

We are in the same situation. What you explained here is exactly what I have been going through. I was told to call back after 15 working days of receipt of NOA 2 to conduct another research. Mine will be 15 working days on Wedsday because of Monday labor day holiday. I am about to loose my faith in the system.

Tell me about it... It is so hard to be patient when you see everybody on this thread getting their interview dates, and I am still waiting...

Don’t get me wrong, I am happy for them, but this is just frustrating.

I was also told to send an email to nvcresearch@state.gov, and today I got a reply stating that they could not find my case...

I just called the USCIS and they told me they definetely sent my case, and that it should be at the NVC...

Any advise?????

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsIssues with California Service Center
Hello guys,

I wanted to creat this thread because I have noticed that a lot of us that were approved on late April or early May have not received a NVC case # and the NVC has not received our case. I don't know if the California Service Center is not really paying attention to where they are sending the approved cases to, or if maybe they have way too many apllications and this is causing the process to take longer.

Please use this thread to vent and to share your experiences; we are all going through this process together.

My case was approved on April 30th, after waiting 15 business days the NVC asked me to please send a scanned copy of my NOA2 to nvcresearch@state.gov. After waiting another 10 business days, I was informed that USCIS sent my file to the NRC instead of the NVC. A day later my congressman sent me an email verifying the information I was given by the NVC.

So, currently I am waiting for the NRC to send my case back to the USCIS so they can send it to the NVC...

Good luck to us all.

In the end, what was that WTC number for? We just got a WTC number from USCIS after calling about our K-1 petition.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsUSCIS WTC number??

WAC is the California service center acronym on the petition in front of the case number. Are you sure the person on the phone said WTC?

No the number she gave me to "track" this request was a WTC :bonk:

I don't even know what to expect... this process has been so disappointing...

The rep told me that she was almost 100% certain my case was at the NVC...

I have another question... Is there a specific time in which the NVC enters the petitions into its system??? or do they enter cases into their system all day long???

I want to know because I dont want to keep calling two or three times a day.
KevymanuelMaleVenezuela2012-05-31 16:04:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsUSCIS WTC number??
A little background information about my case:

  • NOA2 -April 30th
  • NVC has not received my case yet.
  • Already sent a copy of my NOA2 to nvcresear@state.gov
  • Already received an answer from the NVC research Unit... They do not have my case.
Update...After calling the NVC and USCIS cultiple times, I finally spoke to a nice customer service representative who offered to send a letter to the California Service Center, to find out whether they had sent my petition to the NVC or not...

She provided me with a WTC number, and told me that I should hear from the California Service Center by June 15th.

Has anybody gone through this process?? Does it really help??

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsA not so normal K1 journey

I am sorry for your loss (F).

As painful as it may be, bring with you copies of your mother's obituary and death certificate. The Consulate may ask why you postponed your interview twice so you can present the certificate and obituary as evidence for the request.

My mother passed away the month my now husband and I became engaged. While she never had a chance to meet him, it made her happy to know that I had met someone and she felt she didn't have to 'worry' about me anymore :) . I'm sure your Mom was happy to know you had found that special someone in your life as well even if she didn't have the chance to meet her.

Good luck to you both - I hope your journey is trouble-free from here on in.

Got the info you suggested ready to go. Sorry to hear of your loss. I'm sure you know how great it would have been for your husband to meet your mother. Your words are so true, she was very happy for me. Francys and my mother talked on the phone a few times but they never met face to face. My mom loves kids and we are planning to have a baby. It pains me to know that my child will not know her grandmother (and grandfather as well, dad passed almost 4 years ago). But I can try my best to tell him/her what a great and loving person she was. Take care, thanks for your kind words.

Good luck to you. Am so sorry for your loss. Your day will be here soon and yes bring the certificates to the interview.

Thanks you

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsA not so normal K1 journey
Hi everone.......
I just wanted to share my K1 visa journey because it hasn't been a normal one. And this is also for those who are waiting waiting waiting and putting in your time through this process. Keep the faith, have patience and know that each day is a day closer to your loved one.
Our I-29F was recieved on 8/13/10 and it was approved on 1/5/2011. The embassy in Bogota recieved our case on 1/21/2011. We felt that it was important that I was with Francys (my fiance from Cali, Colombia) for her interview but at that time I was in a work contract until mid March. Also from reading embasssy feedback stories about beneficiaries not getting visas because the petitioner wasn't present did not settle well with us (which by the way isn't fair, if they want the petitioner to be there then require it). But I guess they need to see if the petitioner is serious. So we decided to wait to send in the DS forms until the first week of March as we were hoping for a April interview date. On 3/7/2011 we faxed the DS forms from packet 3. On 3/20 when the embassy site posted April interview dates we were not on the list. So I decided to email the embassy to ask for confirmation if they had recieved our DS forms via fax. On 3/25 I recieved an email from the embassy saying that our interview had been scheduled for 3/31. Five days notice even though we were not listed for the April dates on the embassy website! Of course we had to ask to be rescheduled as it was not enough time to plan everything, get documents together, purchase airline tickets, schedule medical, etc. Finally when May dates were released on 4/20 our case number appeared for 5/11/2011. We got everything together and arranged. I live in California and on 4/30 I had to go to Colorado (where I'm from) because my mother was suddenly ill. When I got there it was apparent the situation was not good, and to make a long story short she passed away on 5/6. Of course there was a funeral to plan and a mountain of other things to handle. We had to cancel the interview, cancel flights, cancel everything because I was in Colorado until 5/21. So now the interview is set for 6/22. It has been an interesting journey no doubt. Francys has been my rock through everything and continues to be my biggest supporter though she is so far. We have become closer and more in love through all these setbacks. We have both been patient knowing our day will come. The crazy thing is that this has been the saddest time of my life losing my mother. We were very close, talked everyday and we had a great relationship. And on the other side it has been the happiest time of my life because of Francys. It has been difficult to find a middle ground. I am looking forward to my trip to Colombia and I hope to report good news soon!

I don't know what you're able to afford but you might try finding a birth center and have your baby delivered by a midwife if your pregnancy is going well and you're expecting a healthy baby. They won't take high-risk births. They are a low-cost alternative for many people, often reducing costs by 70%. Here's a link to start you out: http://www.birthcent...a-birth-center/

Good luck!
