US Citizenship General DiscussionAny Military member?
QUOTE (Ohio_hunter @ Apr 7 2009, 03:16 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My buddy joined Army last year after he received his permanent resident card and he is currently serving in Texas.

He found out that he is able to apply for the US citizenship in fast track couple months back and he's really excited about it.

He, however, is confused about the processes and whether he is a eligible candidate for the program.

Anyone care to share? Someone told him all he needed was 6 months of active duty and he's eligible ?

@@@

IT USED TO BE 2 YEARS WAITING TO 1 YEAR BEFORE THE PRESIDENT SIGNED AN ORDER STATING AS EARLY AS OF 6 MONTHS HE WILL BE QUALIFIED TO BE US CITIZEN AS LONG AS HE IS WEARING THE UNIFORM. HAVE HIM TALK TO THE JAG IN HIS MILITARY BASE, THEY WILL HELP HIM SUBMIT IS N400 AND THE REST OF THE DOCUMENTS. HE WILL ALSO FILL CERTAIN FORMS PERTAINING THAT HE IS A SOLDIERS, COPY OF HIS MILITARY ID CARD, ORDERS...ETC.

US Citizenship General DiscussionMy Oath Ceremony rant, Who schedules something like this on 4th

So I received my Oath Ceremony letter today in the mail.

"You are hereby notified to appear for a Naturalization Oath Ceremony on: Saturday, July 4 2009"

Well whoopty-doo. Apparently the USCIS doesn't recognize the 4th (aka America's birthday) as a holiday where people may have plans.... like..... let's say.... go out of town? It's not really a big deal as I will just have them reschedule me but I'm anxious to get this over with. Like really, who schedules anything like this on the 4th?

Maybe I'm over-reacting......................

Maybe NOT!!!

Have a feeling it will be a few months before they re-schedule me. ARgghhhhh how annoying.

< / end rant>

http://www.visajourn...howtopic=204144

Some people take that as symbolic of taking Naturalization on American Independence Day of being an American naturalize, I can't speak for your personal opinion but I would be glad to take my oath on Independence day. You don't want it, give it to somebody that may have more values to them than you. I am pretty sure someone out there will take your day (seat) to take that oath!

CanadaAFTER MEDICAL...WAITING FOR INTERVIEW..????QUESTIONS
QUOTE (poprocks @ Feb 26 2009, 03:03 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Ok, I am just learning all the terms etc... so bear with me wacko.gif

I am applying for a K1, with my son on a K4...

We had our medical yesterday. I am waiting for blood work to come back from my regular Dr for my Immunization to show that I had it... this should take another week or so, so I guess it'll hold up med results.

I am ready to send back my checklist tmrw with my DS230. I only send the checklist right? I don't give them photocopies of all the documents until my interview?

I fill out the DS160 on line, does that go directly to them? or do I mail them a copy of it after printing?

I'm hoping if I send in packet 3 this week, i'll have an interview by May innocent.gif We are hoping for a June wedding smile.gif

I also went to York Region and got the Police search for all of Canada... I assume this is the right one?

Any other advice from anyone at this stage would be appreciated smile.gif

You just now applying for K1 and did your medical. The medical you have done have to be the place the EMBASSY authorize you to go. There are certain step you need to do but by the way I look at it, your ahead of the game. Medical exam in certain country is only good for 6 months. Beofe you can do anything with the DS230, your application have to be approved by the USCIS then they will send it to the NVC for futher steps, NVC then issue you a case number... nothing wrong about having plan ahead of times but you have to take steps by steps. Goodluck!

CanadaMedical Exam/Polics Check While Waiting for NOA2?
QUOTE (Arabella @ Apr 14 2009, 01:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I'm sure this has been asked before, but can my fiance do his medical exam and police check while we are waiting for the NOA2?

Thanks!

YES you can but the only issues is check when your med exam is good for and the police records. Certain countries have expiration on their medical exam and have to take it again and [pay additonal money or travel expences same as the Police record. My wife have PCC and have expired before the NOA2. Once u get ur NOA2, at least a month from your interview you will be good, as far as PCC- most PCC good form 30-120 days. Goodluck!

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussioni-751 denied ! help
Eventhough the Immigration will not look for you to be deported- they don't look for someone to be deported unless you get arrested or did something to have your name POP UP in the screen as a NOW consider illegally in the states, it will be alot safer and less hazzle if you get a lawyer. Yes it will be hard to prove that you didn't get the mail unless it is REGISTERED by CRIS then they can trace it who and when you got the mail. Goodluck...

I guess it would be nice to have a spare!!

It is possible to get two mails from the CRIS but only one card. The production will verify the info and if it showns that your card was already made, they will not make a new one as there is only place to make the card.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionIs this standard operating procedure or unusual?
QUOTE (abdirashid @ Apr 14 2009, 06:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
On April 9, 2009 I got the email that my card production had been ordered. On April 13, 2009 my spouse received a phone call. They asked her her name and address then when she told them they informed her they were calling from Immigration. They then proceeded with questions of: what is your husband's full name, does he still live at the same address, where does he work, what is his date of birth? The last question was is everything OK? She of course answered all the questions of course he still lives here, and everything is fine, etc.

This seems highly irregular. Has this happened to anyone else? What would prompt such questions?

My wife's adult daughter is not fond of me. If she called immigration to complain about me, would this trigger a call like this? I can't think of anything else, especially AFTER receiving the notice of card production.

Any similar experiences are appreciated or if you have any ideaa what this was all about, I also appreciate your reply.

*** It is vewry unusual for the IMMIGRATIONS to call you, next time it happens get theior number and extension and you will call them back and be polite about it and tell them you just being safe and neo tbeing scam. goodluck! Call the IMMIGRATIONS also so they can be aware of that because I don't recall of that and I have 5 relatives here to the US.

hello all vj members..am hoping someone will help about my situaton cause i dont know what to do anymore...am really sad.
I had my medical and its already done and the result is okey but then on the releasing area they ask me about my daughter..isnt on the first day of the medical they gave us forms to fill out n one the the form ask"name n relationship of person travelling with u"so i wrote our daughters name cause i will apply certificate of birth abroad so its like i just assume that she will travel with me and they are confused about that..my daughtre is a new born,i gave birth last march 20 thats why her name is not yet included on my k1 application ..am still waiting for her nso birth cert thats why i havent called fedex to pick up all the requirements needed at the embassy..anyone who had the same situation?PLEASE AM BEGGING I NEED HELP..The girl on the releasing area said the baby might stay here in the philippines then when i get to US after our weding embassy will ask me to back home in the philippines n apply cr1,i dont know what is cr1..is that ryt?

*** Unfortunetely the daughter was born in the PHILIPPINES therefore the Birth Certificate need to be done in the Philippines. Also you need to call the NVC stated that you had a bay and was born last march so they can expedite or have the NVC ammend the cases to add your daughter. its not an easy fix thoug cause they will ask for your DNA nad the father. If the father of the daughter is not the PETITIONER, then they will ask for the fathers DNA and whereabouts, you can't bring children in the other country unless both original parents have permission to do so. Your finace should have call the NVC the minute you have a baby, this will delay your case due to new born baby and it wasn't file. Its complicated issue, yes you will have to leave the baby because it wasn;t on file yet was born by you. Start making call ASAP. And you may need to reschedule your interview, missing interview means you no longer wish to continue with your case. Is that baby yours and your fiance?

Oh sige pasenya na lang sa iyo pero talagang iba ang kaso mo sa lahat, mas mahirap sa iba. The other thing is I HATE to say this but I hate to say leave the bay to your relatives.... get a lawyer, even that still will take time.

Is the baby was born in the Philippines OR here in the states I may have misread that, ARE you in the USA, if you are, the baby was automatically US citizen by birth!

Hi All,

I am not bragging so please don't slam us for this! I want to post this to help other people. And also to demonstrate how CIS doesn't work in order of date received. Granted we probably sent to much (even Kiva and YouTube!) but we were determined to send everything possible to prevent RFEs. A note on the photographs, we didn't send individually printed photos on photo paper (why waste the money?). Instead I ganged up 9 photos on an 8 1/2 x 11 and printed them with a color ink jet.

I must also say I am highly disappointed that President Obama is not in the president line-up on the back of the green card.

For all of you still waiting Please just hang in there your day will come soon.. As a foot note as i see many arguments on these forums about filing taxes together or married filing single,I did not suppy any taxes at all for removal and still got approved. so please dont make comments about what Immigration does or not do unless you not something to be a fact and not what you believe.

*** First of all CONGRATS....

*** Second, everyone have been different answer to that base on their experienced. There are baseline that everyone need to follow and we go with that. If you approved without the neccessary documents needed, then its good for you. Each CASE is treated differently as where you received your AOS from, so you can't judge either, thanks! Each office have tonts of tons of cases, if they are so behind on cases then they make shortcut somehow and somewhere. So don't critizise everyone's answer, it's a guidance for people to follow. If there 100 cases to be file, most likely there 100 ways to treat them, every case is not the same.

My mother was married to my step dad who is a US citizen but my mom wasn't. My step father petitioned us for I-130 and got here sooner because at that time we are under 18 years of age. My brother and I got here in about 4 months after that due to many corrections on my birth certificates which was had 3 different last name that was spelled wrong. One with middle name missing, one spelled wrong, and one was used my maiden name instead of my last name.

Okay to make the story short.....YESSSSSSSSSS he can file for your kids without even adopting the childs, if he adopted the childs then he can legally changed their last name to his , so forth and so on.

I use FOREX but technically you are in California, you have alot of company options. I am from Texas, so they have to ship from TX to CALI, then to PHILS. California is alot quicker to get to program called BALIKBAYAN box and weights doesnt matter, its the size of 60 inches around. Bigger box cost more of course but an average box is 60 inches around, the rules of the weight, if it doesnt rip the box and make bulky looking shape, then ur good! Goodluck, all you have to do i slook for Filipino store/market in CALI and they will tell you the price- avg is $ 85-120 per box.

FRANKSONB was right, I went to consulate in the waterfront cause I need to show them proof of some singleness. I told them that in the USA there is no way of finding if the person is single or not, such record or documents doesnt exist. But in Philippines, eventhough I was from USA I still have to get a CFO, stating that I was never married in the Philippines before, I tried to cover all aspects of paperwork so it wont delay my processing for Visa. I took CEMONAR because we got married in used to be called Cafe Orchidia. Then all
the paperworks done. Anyway... the embassy or consulate knows it doenst exist so no need to worried about it.

Your gf need to get to NSO and apply for that documents stating she was never married before. It takes a week or so to get it back from NSO. I am born in the Philippines and grew up in the US but when I have to apply to get wed in the PHILIPPINES, we have to show a proof that we both are singles. I think we pay Php 1000.00

But for A US citizen, there is no proof of singleness. We don't track who is single.

This may be a dumb question but I get to use this card every now and then. I am working full time and of all times for this stupid cold to hit me is the week before my medical. I have already filed for vacation next week. MY daughter has cough and colds too - know what I mean? It's not harsh or anything. NO fever, no flu. Just plain dumb cold and cough for the lil one and I FEEL LOUSY.

NOw, will this affect the medical results? I need to be sure. I don't wanna jeopardize my med results just because of this &*XF(^D dumb cold. Our flight is at 4am from Cebu.

Any thoughts?

*** Happy...

Just let them know you have been sick for a week and tell them that you are taking medications, take that with you. You blood test or x-ray will not make to much of effect unless you have something medically wrong with you. Bring the medicatiour your taking and JUST let them know when you took it, how much, and for how long. They can figure it out from there...! GOODLUCK!!! Don't eat greasy food or cold drinks as it will make it worst!

PhilippinesMY USEM INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE
QUOTE (pretty_wahine09 @ Mar 7 2009, 03:26 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
MY US EMBASSY INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE: IR1 and IR2 VISA
Schedule of Interview: March 6, 2009 8:30am

Woke up at 3am. Prepared and ate breakfast.
Took a bath
Get dressed

5:45 am Leave the house

6:15 am Arrived at the US Embassy.
Presented my Appointment Letter to the Guard and told me to go to GATE 2
Bags being checked
Headed to Immigrant Visa Section
Guard asked me my time schedule and told me to join and sit beside those who are scheduled at 8:30am

PROCEDURES:
STEP 1 Ticket booth
STEP 2 Finger Scanning (WINDOW 16)
STEP 3 Pre Screener
STEP 4 Consul

6:45 am Guard told us to fall in line at the Ticket Booth
The Lady asked for our Appointment Letter and took it
Gave me a Ticket number and Air21 Shipment Information Slip given
Ticket number: 5015 for me and 5016 for my son

Waited for my name to be called / number flashed on the board for Finger Scanning. Waited for sooooo long. It was already 8:30 but my name is not yet called. Fall in line at Window 16 to asked and checked if I was already called. Presented her my number. The Lady told me that our folders is not yet with her. Sit and waited again. It was already 9:30am and I haven’t heard my name yet. Went to Window 16, fall in line for the second time. Showed her my number. And again the lady told me that its not yet with her. I’m so nervous at this time thinking of what happened to our papers. Asked the guard why is it that my name is haven’t called yet. He told me that maybe because there is a problem with your papers. I’m soooo worried of what the guard told me sad.gif . I asked another Lady, the Lady assisting people to the consul room. Asked her why is it that my name is haven’t called yet. Its already 10am. She was so nice because she took a follow up why my name is not yet called. After 5 mins of her follow up. At last I heard my name. The lady in Window 16 told me that my name is already called awhile ago. HUH? Haven’t noticed that I was already called maybe because my attention is divided into two. Oopppsss! Three rather,,,my son which is playing with other kids, my number to be called, my number to be flashed at the board. Be sure to listen attentively and don’t answer yet your AIR21 Shipment Slip to get really focused in listening for your name to be called.

10:00 am Finger Scanning at WINDOW 16. My son did not go through finger scanning because he is still a minor.
Sit and Waited for my number to be flashed for Pre-Screening

5015> WINDOW 19

PRE-SCREENING:
Greeted the Pre-Screener. I was so lucky because my pre-screener is so nice of me and my son. He asked me if I have a CENOMAR. I hand it to him. He let me signed part 2 of the DS230. My son’s DS230 and my DS230.

Questions Asked to me:
Who is my Petitioner?
How did he get to the US and in what year?
When did he become US Citizen?
When was the last time you saw him?
What is the occupation of my Petitioner?
Have you been to the US before?
Have you travel to different Countries before?

Questions Asked to my son:
What is your name?
How old are you?

The pre-screener asked for some pictures and proofs of relationship. I gave him pictures, remittances, plane tickets, cards. Took the documents and told me to sit and wait. Said Thank you to the Pre-screener.

Sit and waited for my number for Final Interview

5015 > WINDOW 28

Went to WINDOW 28. Actually it was a small room with the same set up as the pre-screener. A Window inside a small room.hehehe.
Opened the sliding door. We greeted the Consul,“Good morning Sir”. He replied, “ Magandang Umaga po” I was amazed because the Consul assigned to us can speak a little tagalong. Our Conversation is not tagalong at all. If he asked me in tagalong, I answer him in tagalong. Asked me in English, answered him in English. The Consul told me to sitdown.
Consul: “ Ano gusto mo? Tagalog or English”
Pretty_Wahine09: It’s up to you po Sir”
Consul: “Itaaas ang kanang kamay” “ Ikaw ba ay sumusumpa na magsasabi ng totoo at pawang katotohanan….”
Pretty_Wahine09: “Opo Sir”

Questions Asked:
Who is my Petitioner?
How did he get to the US and in what year?
When did he become US Citizen?
When was the last time you saw him?
What is the occupation of my Petitioner?
What company is he in?
Have you been to the US before?
Have you travel to different Countries before?
Is my husband the biological father of my son?
How long have you been married?

Questions Asked to my son:
What is your name?
When is your birthday?

He also checked the papers of my son. Looking for a form telling that my son is already Citizen when he finally get to Hawaii. (At the back of my mind… “Why did he said that? Does it means that our papers are approved?)
He also asked me if I only have 1 son? I said “no Sir” I do have a 3 month old baby.

Consul: When is his birthday?
Pretty_Wahine09: November 8, 2008 Sir.
Consul: “Your baby is already a US Citizen. Did you already apply for CRBA?
Pretty_Wahine09: “Yes Sir. I already called Air 21 and delivered me the CRBA Package. I will call them as soon as I got home for pick-up.”

He also asked me on What is the Economic status in Hawaii right now?
I told him that some of the companies shut down and some of the employees got laid off.

While he was doing his interview, he was typing details on the computer screen then he finally said, “ I didn't see any problem with all your submitted documents. Your Visa is APPROVED” .

Pretty_Wahine09: “Thank you so much Sir smile.gif
Consul: “Do still have questions you would like to ask?
Pretty_wahine09: Nothing po Sir”
Consul: “Are you sure?”
Pretty_Wahine09: “Yes Sir”
Consul: “Have a nice day!”
Pretty_Wahine09: Thank you Sir. Have a nice day too smile.gif

Went outside the Small room. Sit and waited for my name to be called in front of WINDOW 37. While waiting for my name to be called. I answered the AIR21 Shipment Information. Name was called. Gave back the documents that was asked. Got PINK SLIP! kicking.gif . The Pink Slip is attatched to your Appointment Letter that was taken in the Ticket Booth. The Lady told me to go to the AIR21 Booth. Went to AIR21 Booth. Gave the Shipment Information Slip. Run down the info to the computer. Asked me to double check the info if there are some errors. Finally Paid for 205 pesos each. Gave me the Receipt, Authorization Letter and my PINK SLIP attached to your Appoinment Letter.

Thank GOD! After the long wait…. It was paid off. GOD is really GOOD. The Pre-screener and Consul that is assigned to us are both nice!. I’m soooo HAPPY kicking.gif

Again, Thank you VISA JOURNEY! smile.gif

CONGRATS AND WITH THE REST OF YOUR JOURNEYS... TAKE CARE !!!

PhilippinesWedding help
QUOTE (HappyDancer @ Mar 12 2009, 04:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I have read the thread somewhere but I failed to save it. Fiance and me are having a Filipino wedding ceremony. Iam doing everything as DIY and I am currently stuck at what wedding favors to give out to guests. Also with my invites, I am planning to use sinamay as raw materials. I am a budget and bargain junkie so I need your input. I live in Cebu and I need as much help as I can.

Any thoughts?

My wife interview is scheduled on 21st April...

She is from Cebu by the way. We did our wedding and receptions in Cafe Orchidia. Our wedding give outs consist of our wedding cd music and some items. Initially we invited 40 guess eneded up feeding 78. When we went to the Cafe Orchidia we told them that we get the 50s package deal. Well it ended up 28 more than we budgeted for the rest have to order from the menu.... the 28 persons cost me more thna the 50s package deal but overall is worth it, I love my wife and I make sure she is happy. I didnt even care for that nite what they ordered and told my MC charged it in my card. Goodluck, stick with your plan if you are in budget but expect to have more people than you plan...words travel if you know what I mean.
