whos fill it out? the petitioner or the foreign? and its just to set the adress they want to receive mail about they application? and they should fill it our its okay if they didnt?

thank you

The DS3230 is fill by the Benificiary making the Petitioner as the Choice of An Agent if she or he wishes to do so. The purpose it to make it quiker to get the paperwork instead of sending back and forth to the overseas, which take longer.

Hi Folks;

I hate to be redundant, but am I to understand I will not have to take a ton of paper to the embassy since I send originals and copies to NVC?

Getting a little shook thinking about how close I really am

If you are doing the K3 interview the embassy won't have whatyou submitted.

As the NVC said make sure you have copies of everything. Bring everything you have despites of what you have submitted in NVC. They will also give you a list to bring but the more you bring the easy for you to get things done!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPetition for wife I-130 - original birth cert needed?
QUOTE (Moosker @ Jan 28 2009, 10:07 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I don't believe you need a birth certificate for the I-130, possibly just a copy. Later (way later!) on the process you will need one....but for now copy the pages of the passport. Follow the guides here at VJ and you'll do great! smile.gif

@@@ Moosker @@@

MY RFE from NVC stated that I need to get the original copy of my wife BC but the NSO don't release those and I am trying to convince them that NSO gave us a BC from their system (copy).

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresquestion about tracking I130/I129F progress
QUOTE (aslam @ Feb 7 2009, 06:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi,

I saw couple touches on my application in middle of January (the first touch was when I sent the applications in, and this was the first touch in 4 months), but haven't seen anything since. I've seen a couple people getting approved whose timeline for I130/I129F was after me from CSC... What does that mean? Does anyone know how long after the first touch the applications are typically approved? And what does it mean if folks who applied after me to CSC are getting approved before me.. Dooes that mean they are scrutinizing my application, and it might take longer than usual to get approval?

Appreciate advice from experts.
thanks

Every case is different as I found out myself. Some people have been approved before yours and some still waiting as long as a year. NOA1 usually takes up to 10 days, all it states is that they got your application and assigned you a case number. From there on.. depending on your case, you get touch, it means someone look at your case but not completed it,. Some may get touched and no changed on their status. CASE ARE VARIES so make sure you are well prepared for the long journey, or get lucky and get a shorter journey. GOODLUCK!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK3 visa....worth it?
QUOTE (john1759 @ Feb 17 2009, 12:13 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi all.

I have read the guides.
I have read the pluses/minuses to the K3 vs CR1 visas

I have also read some people in these forums saying that they thought the K3 was a waste of time.
or that the 129F and the 130 were combined in one file and approved together.

Yes I read the K3 faster in the Pluses section for visa comparison but it apperas that K3 approvals are not really that fast anymore.

comments welcome

Thanks in advance

John

YES AND NO...UMN MAYBE... GET MY POINT. IT IS DEPENDING ON YOU... YOU WANT THE PERSON TO BE THERE SOONER, K-3, IF TIME IS NOT ISSUE, CR-1/IR-1, BUT MOST OF THE TIME CR1/IR1 CATCH UP WITH K3, MAYBE A FEW WEEKS OFF THE TIMELINE. THE K-3 WAS POPULAR IN THE EARLY 2000'S BUT WITH THE TECHNOLOGY AND ALL THE STUFF IT'S ALMOST SIDE BY SIDE. WE ALL, WELL MOST OF US, APPLIED FOR BOTH SINCE K-3 DONT COST ANYTHING IF YOU FILE FOR I-130 ANYWAY, EXCEPT FOR ALL DOCUMENTS YOU HAVE RESUBMIT. FLIP THE COIN, SHAKE YOUR HIPS... HALF EMPTY OR HALF FULL, IT'S YOUR CHOICE!

Thank you so much...God bless u guys

For K-3 you only have to pay NOW the $ 131.00 for your NON IMMIGRANT bvisa but will cost you more in the long run when u come to the USA. CR1 is alot cheaper and quickier to get a job and for your choice base on your kid, its worth that wait. But actually K3 visa is quickier to get to the US compare to the CR1 whic is 2 months apart. Ypou have the entire year to c0ntinue with the CR1 and just let the NVC knows ur waiting for your kid 130 and ask for expedition esp if ur kids is very young or underage.

YES it will cause a problem and possible delay in a later time when they asked for his BC. If its inconsistent with your paperwork and the actual BC, you will get what we call a RFE....Request for Evidence. And sice you just now recently sent it, you cant do much at all all till you get a NOA ( Notice of Application = NOA1; Notice of Approval= NOA2). You will get RFE for any simple mistake such as mispelled letter.

Kamusta? Yes, I have to have my wife fly back to Dubai to get her PCC. You can also try to see if you can go to Taiwan Embassy and request PCC from their instead of spending that much money for an airfare? As far as your interview, just make sure you have an extra copy for you...photocopy is fine for PCC, it will also states in your interview letter that they have reviewed it and u wont need to have it in the USEM.

Now my question is.........if the 129F (K3) will be approve while waiting for our NVC case number for I-130 can we still go for K3? what will we do with the I-130 pending at NVC? Your input on this is highly appreciated.

thank in advance. GOD Bless.

If time and money is not an issues, I will go with the CR1/IR1 but if you want to go ahead and meet your spouse go with K3. OR go proceed with your K3, call the embassy for your interview. Still try work with your CR1, let the case get completed with the NVC, NVC will issue your an interview unlike K3 you have to call the embassy. Its only abpout 2-3 weeks different between K3 and CR1 anyway. It is your choice. Either way with the K3 still will cost you more than Cr1 and you cant get a job right away as you have to apply for workers permit. That will take time! Its actually your choice...

Our interview is scheduled for April 20, but mu hubby has only visited once. He stayed from Jun 18 2008 to July 27 2008 and we were married during that time. Since then he hasn't visited, but we have kept records of our Yahoo Messenger conversations and we've spent time together online every day. We've also exchanged cards and gifts through mail.

Do we have reason to fear being denied since he hasn't visited, even though we have kept in regular contact with each other?

Also his job and his school is at risk if he go here to pick me and jin me in the interview. He is working as after school tutor ans studying at the same time. He's graduating on june so his prof's are strict. If he pick me due to that reason his willing. But as a wife i feel guilty taking him away of his job and school and puting his career at risk.

If he lose job then how can he support me..

Please help me and give me advice..

@@@

Don't worry to much of him not visiting you as much. SAVE your money and keep your records. Also take a picture of him in front of his schhol and the most current newspaper. I haven't vsiited my wife since we got married last MAY 2008, so I know where you at. Economy is bad enough, he doesn't need for him to visit you rather concenrates on his school and his job and sooon you will be together. SALAMAT !!! I am in the miliotary and being an INSTRUCTOR I can't take 1 month of leave even if I want to...they will only let me go for 2 weeks but I decided not to because of the expences, plane ticket, hotels, food, transportation. Instead I save my money and use that money I will use for my vacation for my wife's rent, plane ticket to manila from Cebu, Cebu to Texas and souvenirs expences!

I, myself, is a military member. The base attorney will review you paperwork if he needs to after he is done filing them. To expedite your case, he need an order stating he is deploying somewhere downrange...Iraq or Afghanistan, then you can come to the USA faster. OTHER than that, you case will be just like everyone else... will be review base on you case requirements. Goodluck!

But to be safe thasn sorry.... copy of everything they have submitted to the NVC and pictures, chats., phone bills, the more they have in their hands the less time COs spend on them dutring interview.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK3 Question
QUOTE (tngirl21809 @ Apr 10 2009, 10:53 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I'm still debating on whether to continue to file for a K3 or not.

I have a few questions though...

Correct me if I'm wrong, the K3 once it is approved goes to NVC and then NVC sends it to the embassy right?
BUT the I-130 (or CR1) is still going to go through the process. I mean, it gets sent to NVC once approved.
My question is, do we still have to pay all the fees for the CR1, even if for example, it got approved way way way later than the K3?
For example, the K3 is already here in US embassy in Manila and I already have an interview date... but the CR1 is just starting in NVC.

ANy idea? Coz I hate to waste all the money if I get to this point.
I have a feeling our visa journey will be rough... just base on the fact that I still haven't received the NOA1 and it's been a month since we sent our package.

Thanks!!

K, majority of us here decided to go with the CR1/IR1 due to the facts that its multi entry and will save you the hassle later. If you don't have much money then go to K3 as you only pay $ 131 vs $ 470. But the K3 will cost you more in the long run. The K3 process to NVC, once NVC assigned the case number that it goes to the consulate in your country and deal with your consulate from them on ( about 1-2 months for you to wait your interview). The CR1 process to the NVC, NVC sent to the consulate also, then you will be given interview date wihin weeks despite what you heard from the automatic machine. Its more of a personal choice... we went with CR1/IR1 less hassle for later on, EITHER WAY YOU WILL HAVE TOPAY $ 1036 TO TO DO YOUR AOS AND DO MORE PAPERWORK.

NO, it shouldn't because if was written bilingual that have your country and in english . When they said translation, like in chinese writing then that would be neccessary to write in English. If they can read that english part in one line as you stated, no ned to be translated again. Like the philippine passport we have written in tagalog/(forward slash)then english.

You be better off asking you brother in law because you will have to file for those informations, salary, work, fifures, so if you decide to have your sister as co sponsor, it doesn't look good... blank here, blank there, it just will raise some question and it may not be legit. US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMy USEM Immigrant Visa Interview Experience
QUOTE (neenuh @ Mar 5 2009, 11:08 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello, everyone! After some 500 and so days, my son and I finally got approved with our immgrant visas, and I couldn't be happier!

Here's pretty much everything that happened earlier during our interview:

5:30 am - My husband, my son and I arrived at the USEM. We were scheduled at 6:30am. There were probably about 20 or so people ahead of us who were already queud in the waiting area when we finally went through the security guard who had to verify our appointment in his list.

6:00am - The USEM employees began allowing people to enter the building. We went through the routinary inspection, walked to the immigration visa unit and were told to sit and wait to get our ticket number.

7:00am - My son and I were called to Window 16 for fingerprint scanning. I was told my son didn't have to go through it, and when I was done, we were told to sit again and wait for our number to be called for the pre-screening

7:30am - We were called to Window 19. I had a male pre-screener. He was really kind and polite. He asked me to fill out some parts in our DS-230 and to sign that portion of the DS-230 Part 2 that was left blank. He asked me if my son was born out of wedlock and if I was ever married to my son's father, and I said no. He asked if I ever submitted a CENMAR and I said no, however I told him I had one with me and he asked for it. He asked me who my husband is, where we met, when we first met, how many times he's visited, when his last visit was. He also asked what my husband did for a living, and I told him he's currently unemployed. He started going through our I-864s and he said it wasn't a problem, since we have a joint sponsor.

While the pre-screener was flipping through the I-864 we sent to the NVC, he asked me who the joint sponsor was and my relationship with them. However, my joint sponsor failed to submit a more recent income tax return. He asked me for some attachments, and I said we don't have any. I told him that we have another joint sponsor, and I then presented everything to him, together with the copies of the 2007 income tax, W2 from 2007, and the form I-864A (since taxes were filed together). He said that my second joint sponsor's documents were sufficient. He also asked if they filled out for my son, and I said yes. He went through them once again, and then told me that my second joint sponsor's stuff was what he was going to file for the final interview instead.

The whole time my son was just standing next to me. The only thing the pre-screener asked my 13 year old son was his birth date.

Finally he asked for our family photos (I gave him about 80 prints!), greeting cards, and some remittance receipts. And then he asked if we have ever been to the United States or if this was the first time for us to travel there. Then he told us to go back to our seats and to wait for the final interview with the consul officer.

8:30am - after one hour of waiting, we were finally called to Window 32 for our final interview with the consul officer. He was this middle-aged, white guy. He was wearing eyeglasses. He greeted me and my son, told us to sit, and asked me to take the oath.

He was pleasant, however, he had a terrible cough. He was coughing non-stop on his head set, and it was really loud! I could tell he was having a hard time, his nose was stuffy and he would cough like every 5-10 seconds. Poor guy. There were moments of silence as he would go through our stuff and type on his computer, and then he would cough again.

So, anyway. He asked the same things the pre-screener asked. Further, he asked about the other jobs my husband had before he became unemployed, why he's unemployed, about my husband's disability, our plans when we get to the United States, and where we plan to stay. He asked how my husband supports us if he's unemployed, and I told him through my husband's SSA payments. He asked if I knew how much he was getting and I told him.

After all that questioning, he went through our photos briefly, and began typing some more stuff on the computer. I was kind of worried because he wasn't saying anything at all. He then returned the photos, greeting cards, and remittance receipts back to me. Finally, with these two huge stamps, he stamped on our stuff and said, "This is it, ma'am. I have approved your visas." And I was like, "Really?! Thank you very much, sir!" He told us to sit again outside and to wait for further instructions for the releasing and paying for the visa delivery fee. He wished me and my son good luck on our move to the United States and with getting employed there.

I think we were in the cubicle for about 30 minutes. I bet we would have been done a lot sooner, but the consul officer's cough kept interrupting us. He had to stop a couple of times with what he was doing because he just couldn't stop coughing! I felt bad for him. And it sounded like he had asthma.

After about ten minutes, we were called to the releasing window. This lady handed me our appoinment letter and stapled two pink slips on them. She told us to pay for our visa delivery fee and to go home and wait. I asked what the pink slip meant, and she said she's not authorized to disclose that kind of information :-P

9:30am - Paid our visa delivery fees, and we were done like a champ!

So, now we wait some more. But at least the difficult part is over. I want to thank everyone here in VJ, especially edp333, ryandgracey, and pretty_wahine09, for all your help. My husband and I couldn't have done it without everyone's input and knowledge.

Btw, goodluck to pretty_wahine09 on your interview tomorrow :-)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionIs the interview process different in Mexico?
QUOTE (estrella @ Mar 13 2009, 08:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I was reading the shortcuts wikis on NVC, and they say that you have to mail documents like the Affavit of Support, but by reading the Mexican Consulate topic I noticed that they take that with them? I'm a lil' confused and would appreciate some orientation

Thanks in advance

YES YOU HAVE ONE FOR THE NVC TO REVEIW YOUR CASE SO THEY JKNOW IF YOU MEET THE FINANCIAL GUIDELINES. YOU ALSO NEED ONE FOR YOUR CONSULATE. THOSE TWO SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY DISCREPANCIES OF YOU WILL GET A RFE. BEST WAY IS TO MAKE COPIES, SEND ORIGINAL TO THE NVC AND CERTIFIED COPY WITH YOU TO THE CONSULATE. GOODLUCK!!!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDoes petitioner gets any call? Help!!
QUOTE (becool @ Mar 17 2009, 08:48 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello friends!
I just want to ask if the petitioner ever gets a call from either the service center or the NVC or the US consulate in the beneficiay's country?
This is because I want to get my number changed which I submitted in the I-129f form.
Has anyone ever got a call regarding anything? Also,we got our NOA2 in february and also a letter from NVC.
Please help.Any help is deeply appreciated.

NOPE. I didn't receive any call either from either agency just the e-mail and the snail mail. You can write them letter as of changing ur number for what you already applied for and have it registered so you know they received it by someone in the receiving ends. Because while I was waiting for the NOA2 at the time, I submitted changed of address of my wife 2x but never received any response from them. When NVC finally working with my case ( GLAD IS COMPLETED NOW) they still have my old address there for my wife and her cell phone. Her cell [phone was stolen in the Philippines, mandurukot... pick pocketing thieves, all she know she was buying bread and she got bumped.

MMW, I went and took a chance and bought ticket for my wife. But then my wife told me that lady will sell the ticket to her for 100 dlrs LESS for what I paid for. Its the cheapest ticket I can find out of Cebu in May...@ EXPEDIA or any sites for airfare! I guess it wont hurt to bargain..oh well she got ticket NOW asnd I hope there is no more hiccup in USEM! Wish me luck!!! And of course her..she is the one going to do the interview, my side was completed!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionReschedule Interview because of Accident??!
QUOTE (remyk1 @ Mar 25 2009, 12:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi folks!

My dad is from Germany and has moved to the States september last year. There he got married with a a new wife and everything is fine. One month ago he was involved in a motorcycle/caraccident and he just got discharged from hospital on saturday. Because of serious head injuries hes still confused, but the improvement is very great. Hes not handicapped at all, just doesnt remember everything what happend the last few months. Its just a matter of time until he is recovered 100%.

Now my question: Exactly one day after the accident he received the letter with the date for the interview. It's gonna be on may 14th. Should he request to reschedule or wait?

regards, lam whistling.gif

@@@ ASK THE EMBASSY TO HAVE A RESCHEDULE FOR THE LATER DATE OF AN INTERVIEW... SINCE THE INTERVIEWS GET SCHEDULE ON THE 2ND WEEK OF EACH MONTH, HE CAN HAVE AN INTERVIEW ON MAY... OOOPS MAKE THAT FOR JUNE, GODLUCK, SORRY FOR ALL THE CAPS!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhat is the Average Waiting Time for Visa Delivery
QUOTE (ange2964 @ Feb 20 2009, 09:42 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello my vj family,

Can you please help me figure out this one. I know waiting for the visa to be delivered is quite frustrating. Do you guys have an idea what is the average time frame for visa delivery?

If worst comes to worst 2 to 3 weeks came and no delivery yet is it adviceable to call the USEM to follow up my visa.

God bless to all star_smile.gif

@@@ wait before we even know how long the waiting time, simple question since you didnt ask if u have visa or not. Did they gave you PINK SLIP... they will give you AIR21 forms to fill up regardless if you have visa or not, they gave those while your waiting on line... do you have pink slip with you? That states that you passed your interview and will receive your VISA

Hi all,
As every case is different, the search function didn't help me alot.
Here's the deal.
Our K1 visa is pending and seems to be approximately 3 to 4 months from the NOA2.
I have been employed as an independent contractor for the last 3 years with the same company making $50,000+ per year.
I have all my tax returns showing this, but i do not have a letter from my employer stating my time there as i was self-employed.
I have all my check stubs for the last 3 years.
I got laid-off yesterday.
My questions are;
1) Will the interview require more recent proof of income than a tax return that is about 5 months old?
2) If i get employed with another company soon, is there a minimum required time that i must be at that new job for it to be a valid source of income?
3) Should i be freaking out right now?

Thanks alot.

Go with the flow.... you have enough evidence the last 6 months as a self employed. Get a reference from someone that you did a job with them. Your IRS tax return will do tyhe job as the last 3 years, the embassy only need the last year. If you got laid off yesterday, umn comflicting as you said you are self employed?, anyway... by the time your paper process and you have a a job by then I wouldnt worried to much as long you can provide the financial need, goodluck! And YES co sponsors will help!

My husband has his interview on April 30. I won't be attending the interview, but I have been assembling what I have saved here to prove our relationship, we intend for him to take:

-letters I have sent and package receipts from my packages to him
-the wedding album with over 300 pictures of us, our friends and my family from the wedding ceremonies and reception

I plan to send
-receipts from sending letters and packages from 2007-2009
-boarding ticket stubs from the trips
-police registration tickets from both trips
-one sheet showing the calling cards I have purchased from a website

Should we include..

-Wedding Dvd
-the stack of phonecards I have used outside the website ones
-my diary of my trip the first year we met
-emails & chat logs of which there are so many in lots of different places. Ive used several computers so all yahoo logs are scattered.
-printouts of digital photographs in addition to the above mentioned.

@@@ Actually thats alot but then the more the better... I have told my wife to bring everything she have so it will less question to ask. The more proof of ongoing relationship the less likely they will deny you!

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionk1 interview cancelled bcoz medical not complete - how to reschedule?
QUOTE (johnnytt @ Apr 7 2009, 09:04 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My fiance had medical scheduled for her and her two children for 4/2 and 4/3 with a k1 interview scheduled for 4/7/09.
St. Lukes postponed part of their medical exam and vaccinations for 4/13. They said they had no schedule for the skin test. Crazy! I tried to postpone the interview but due to Holiday they were and are still closed. (How long is this holiday anyway? I still cant reach them at the Embassy). When she went to the interview they did not conduct it because the medical was not complete. They did not give her new date for the interview. They said she should get new interview date from St. Lukes but that doesn't seem correct. I would think we could reschedule with the Embassy via the phone but am not sure and cant reach them due to this long holiday. Does anyone know how to get new interview date since the original interview date has passed and they turned her away because of the medical?
P.S.
This gives me more time to finish the two new bedrooms in my house. lol.

@@@

ST LUKES have the authorization to re-schedule your interview due to medical reason, for example, you case with incomplete medical exam. St. Lukes and Embassy is a joint company/organization in the terms of providing visa to people who doesn't pose any medical threat to the society, thats the reason we do medical exam to make sure you or anyone else is fit and healthy before going abroad. Go back to ST LUKES and ask them to re schedule your interview at your earliest convenience.

@@@

I talked to them on FRIDAY, they told me that they will e-mail me and my wife the APPT for an Interview. Then I talked to them YESTERDAY, they told me they send us the mail for the instruction date for my wife's interview. I really don't care much how they send it as long as I have one in my hand! They cant tell me if the consulate received our package and I even asked for the tracking number! How did u know consulate receive it? And the tracking no.?

to call them to shcedule it. Has anybody else had this experience ??

She said they got the letter from the Embassy telling them the date and times to be there.

Thanks,

You can go before the schedule date for your MED Exam. My wife just flew to Manila from Cebu 2 weks prior to her Visa Interview, go any weekdays not FRI cause its 2 days exams. Ingat! Make sure you have your NOA2 or Interview Letter, ID Card and passport and Php 10,500 thats how much she paid.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionShould my wife get the Vaccines bfore or at med exam
QUOTE (Riggs @ May 4 2009, 12:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi all,

My wife lives in Bislig, Philippines and her mother lost her vaccine records over the years; there are no doctors in Bislig that we have found that can do blood panel/screen to verify vaccines she already has.

Should my wife try to get her vaccunes before the medical exam for visa or at the medical exam?

If before does she have to get every single vaccine on the list or which ones would she need to satisfy the requirement?

Or will they definately provide the necessary vaccines during the visa medical exam. I just don't want her to go to med exam and have them tell her they can not give them for some reason , at that time, and delay the process.

What should we do?

Thank God for the Visa Journey website, and for all the people that take their time to help other newbees like us, I would be lost without it.

Thanks much

Steve

Since ur paying the 10,500 Php, have it done in Med Exam and you will have the official med records of the vaccine was completed.

US Citizenship General DiscussionCitizenship questions
Yup no rush right now for filing ur citizenship, that's $ 675 right? So 10 years from now will be $ 2,000 roughly and economics is not going to good either uh. Price will only increase as years pass by. You may save your money now but in the long run, you still have to file one and its going to be higher. Think about it... but if your financially secure later on... do so. Goodluck!!!
