Philippinesbring and not to bring
I've been telling my fiancee to just bring her most treasured items because we can replace things such as clothing, music, etc. (except Tagalog music of course, hehe).
Pirated DVD's? I doubt they are going to look that hard, but I say better safe than sorry.

does anyone know the number for contacting the embassy to find out the status of our visa it has been almost one week since she passed the interview and delbros says visa is still at embassy not released to them yet. this is frustrating cause they never gave her any papers or said anything about doc verification if thats what it is(i'm not sure if it is or if there just being slow) we paid the document verification fee back on march 3rd.

You can use the numbers below to contact the Embassy (there is a fee from either number).

Actually, I just found out that my fiancee has to return April 22. It was 180 pesos, so pretty inexpensive, but I have to commend her for her efforts because she was there for several hours.

PhilippinesSomeone from Philippines?
FYI, Pimsleur is conversational Tagalog. They are just CDs to learn how to speak Tagalog using the native tongue, they don't teach spelling of the words. It teaches you how to ask for directions, ask and tell the time, etc. I prefer this one because I drive a lot, so I can practice while I'm driving.
Rosetta Stone, in my opinion, is good for building vocabulary and learning how to spell and pronounce some words, but you can only use it on a computer.

1 sitting of either course (Pimsleur or Rosetta Stone) takes about 30 minutes a day.

Haha, my fiancee and I use those emoticons too. If you're interested in learning Tagalog, Pimsleur Language Programs and Rosetta Stone are great programs. Pimsleur teaches you conversational Tagalog and Rosetta Stone is a vocabulary builder (at least the first disc is so far).

Thanks!I'll try them.

FYI, Pimsleur is only available through Barnes & Noble, but there's an authorized dealer on eBay who has them at much reduced prices compared to B&N:
http://stores.ebay.c...8QQftidZ2QQtZkm (He carries 2 courses, the one for $184.95 is the one I'm currently using). Seems expensive, but it's 16 CD's (32 courses) so there's quite a bit to be learned.

Rosetta Stone can be purchased at many places. I used Yahoo! Shopping for a price comparison and I think I ended up getting it through J&R Music but I'm not sure.

My goal is to be fluent when I return in Xmas 2010. My fiancee's father speaks English but is shy to speak it to me. My fiancee said he will not be shy to speak to me in Tagalog so I'm going to work hard at that!

Good luck!

Thanks!

Hi,

You won't be having any problem probably. I had a period on the day of my physical. They will perform other test like x-ray and others and they will let you come back after your period is done to do other tests needed. About your ovarian cyst, that I don't know. Most possibly the doctor will see it, but don't worry or rather get too nervous and shy seeing naked since you will be examine by a lady doctor. If any case you'll not, try to request for a female doctor, ok!

Good luck! smile.gif

another thing...just look at it this way...with all the naked bodies they examine everyday, you are just another body to them....nothing more nothing less....so look at it that way so you don't feel shy or nervous....they have to do their job....imagine yourself in their place, would you enjoy their job? yikes never! so be calm and cool....that's just a few seconds that they will check out your body...nothing personal....ok sis?

It's the same for men. I used to get nervous when I'd have a physical, but then I just think to myself, "These people are professionals and see nude bodies all the time, I'm just another body, who cares?" That makes it easier for me and now, I don't think anything of it.

Good luck with the exam!

QUOTE (DWOODARD72 @ Apr 21 2008, 09:36 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi All,

My fiancee has her medical appointment at St. Lukes on 5/13. Because she has not had some of her immunization shots, we are considering getting them in Calbayog City, which is very near where she lives. I was wondering if the medical exam that she must take prior to her interview includes vaccinations if the person hadn't received them already? I understand she will not not need the vaccinations for the visa interview but I heard she will need them at some point when we apply for her AOS so we felt that it was a good idea to just take care of things as soon as possible. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

DW

Save your money. St. Luke's will give her all of the required immunizations, plus, they are already included in the fee that she will pay for the medical exam. smile.gif

It's not a requirement, but it certainly does help for verification and preventing a possible delay.
To get one, go to your local NSO office, it's about 400 PHP. It takes about 2 weeks to get after the paperwork. You can also get one faster online for $20 US (about 800 PHP) and have it delivered (if you trust that! whistling.gif ) Go here: https://www.ecensus....re/frmIndex.asp

I had my fiancee go ahead and get one since it's only about $10 U.S., but it did take a few hours of her time at the one in Quezon City.

thanks. thats very informative. i just like to inquire if it will cause any delay or problem since we are married now for almost 2 years and CENOMAR are for those who havent get married yet? any help is highly appreciated thanks

If you're already married to him, then you can't get a CENOMAR because that's a Certificate of NO Marriage. Sorry, I overlooked that you're filing for a CR-1, no a K-1. Anyways, you're married to him so a CENOMAR will not apply to your situation.

Sometimes, they will have night sweats, weight loss, anorexia, gets tired easily, shortness of breath and fever. smile.gif

Hi everyone. I was just wondering what are the chances of having TB if something shows up on the xray?

My fiancee and I are waiting another 8 weeks for her results. Are there any obvious symptoms because she doesn't have a cough or flu symptoms or anything of that nature.

Roughly 220 of 100,000 people in the PI have it actively. So, you could estimate that her chances of having active TB are roughly 0.22%. I think she'll be just fine.

I was telling her that I think she should have 2000 PHP and $100.00 U.S. When I was at Narita Airport (Tokyo) last summer, all of the stores accepted U.S. currency.

Do you think the proposed amounts are sufficient? Money isn't the issue, it's her comfort and well-being smile.gif I just want to make sure that she has enough for incidentals and other things that may occur during her trip.

PhilippinesDifferent POE than my fiancee told at the interview?
Hello all,

My fiancee had asked me what would be her POE before she had her interview yesterday. I told her that most likely, it would be Chicago but it could be Minneapolis, it just depends which flight is cheaper when I am searching for tickets. I'm looking at flights and Minneapolis is a few dollars less, and is 180 miles (round-trip) closer than Chicago. Plus, she will have fly with the same carrier on the trip (NWA), which will make it very easy at her only stop at Narita (Tokyo).

My question is, at the interview, she probably told the person "Chicago" and maybe it's written on some of the paperwork. If I send her to Minneapolis instead of Chicago, is she going to have any issues at the POE? I don't think it will be a problem, but it's always good to be 100% sure!

Thank you so much!

PhilippinesBringing 2 brothers to US for the wedding
My attorney told me that petitioning for a family member, even on a tourists' Visa, can leave the interviewer with skepticism concerning the true intentions of the beneficiary.
In other words, the interviewer may ask more difficult questions or even deny the Visa if they think you are using your fiance only to bring your family to the U.S.

I'm not saying that it will happen, but I understand why the interviewer might think that way.
