I was really surprised she would know Kenny Loggins at all, lol

Kenny Loggins is very popular in phil. I was told back they have ....(70's very young then) free concert in baguio city (burnham park) back when loggins and messina still on. "Danny's Song" is the most popular KL song.....they sing in karaokee/videoke nowadays. So don't be surprise...they love that movie too. anything from Tom Cruise smile.gif

eh correction OVER THE TOP movie STALLONE.........that movie very popular in Phils. too.

Haha, good correction. Yeah, I like that movie too smile.gif

PhilippinesSecuring CENOMAR at an early time
QUOTE (chris-lei @ Jul 9 2008, 06:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Technically, we dont need a cenomar. It is not included in the requirements anymore. Some of us still get one because "some" prescreeners ask for it, some doesnt. CENOMAR is the one that they verify with the NSO, "document verification". I myself was asked of CENOMAR during my interview but just the same, they will do their own investigation. Im still waiting for the results of my document verification.

I dont know the exact amount of time of its validity though.

Goodluck on your inteview! good.gif

Same here, my fiancee provided a CENOMAR on her June 10 interview. They got it a few weeks ago and my fiancee had to submit her NBI Clearance because her's expired on June 15. They called her on June 30 and she went in that same day to submit the NBI Clearance. I called them just tonight and was told to call again in 1 week. It's been 10 days since she submitted the NBI Clearance. It's so ridiculous how long it takes to look at a stupid piece of paper and print the Visa.

Philippinesurgent question
I honestly couldn't tell you, but I know that my fiancee submitted her 1st set of docs on June 30. I called just an hour ago and they confirmed they received it on June 30, but I was told to call again in 1 week. It's been 10 days, it's ridiculous.

PhilippinesNew Manila Embassy is Underway in Manila
QUOTE (Jon-n-Michelle @ Jul 5 2008, 11:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I still don't get it anyway. NSO has to verify documents that were originally issued by NSO????? #######!!!! Then they have to use an inept courier service to send the documents from USEM to NSO and then back???? I still want to know who owed who a big favor, because this part of the process is just.............STUPID!!!!!!

Yeah, it's such BS. My fiancee went to the NSO to get a CENOMAR, she brought it, and the ####### still requested a CENOMAR from the NSO! During the course of this, my fiancee's NBI Clearance expired, but she'd already went ahead and renewed it. They called her on June 30 to submit a new NBI Clearance, since she already had it renewed after the expiration, she submitted it the same day, June 30. I called Friday morning (Pinoy time) and the woman said it seemed odd that she was able to submit it the same day. I said, yeah, she already had it renewed so she went in immediately because we want to be together ASAP.

There just are no words to express how fruitless this stuff is.

Anyways, just to give you an update. Her interview was June 10, and the USEM called her 2 days ago so we know they're working on the cases in just 3 weeks! Most likely, they'll contact your fiancee sometime next week if they need anything from her.

how much is fedex overnight priority mail?

Fedex doesn't exactly have an "overnight". Their fastest service is called "Fedex International Priority". It takes 3 calendar days, but if an American sends something on, for example, June 3 (June 4 for you), you would get it by noon on June 6 (that's how it was for my fiancee who lives in Metro Manila). It's the same for DHL - about 3 days with their fastest service; there just really isn't an "overnight" unfortunately, but 2.5 days to travel 13 time zones is pretty good!

As for the cost, it depends on the weight. I sent 0.5 pounds (about 0.25kg) of documents for about $30 using Fedex International Priority service. I sent 4.5 pounds of documents (about 2kg) for about $90 using it as well.

It flies to Anchorage, Alaska, then to Subic Bay, and boards the delivery truck in Olongapo.

I'm sorry to hear about your problems, but look at it from the positive side. This means they are working on your petition and trying to get it out of the way! Do this stuff quickly and correctly, and you'll be with your husband in just a few weeks!

My fiancee was also frustrated with the fact that she had to return to the Embassy, but I was excited because I know because they contacted her, it means they're working on the case. When I told her that, she changed her mind and was excited as well. biggrin.gif

PhilippinesHow difficult could it possibly be?
I received an e-mail from my fiancee while I was sleeping regarding the lost NBI Clearance. This has some fantastic news!

From my fiancee's e-mail:
QUOTE (Romi Lyn's E-mail)
Yesterday morning at 9a.m, a person called from the U.S.Embassy and were telling me to submit another NBI Clearance because they couldn't find the new NBI Clearance that I just submitted to them last June 2008. He told me not to go to Window 17,18, 19, or 20 because I went there already and they just didn't take good care of my NBI Cllearance, hehe. So he told me to go directly to Window "_" and look for "Mr. __________" then I asked for his name and he said, "I'm Mr. _________" then he added, "Remember, don't go to those Window, proceed to me directly at Window _, ok?" then I said, "OK."

I went there at the U.S.Embassy, I got there at 1 p.m. I went to "Window _" told the woman that Mr. __________ called me, she asked for my name and told me to wait for a minute. After 2 minutes, I was called to proceed to Window "_" and there was a man waiting there. He introduced himself saying, "I'm Mr. __________, I'm the one who called to you yesterday." then he said, "We're sorry that we couldn't find your NBI Clearance and that we just had to ask you to submit another one 1 than to spend so many times trying to find the NBI CLearance that you already sent to us."

I gave my NBI Clearance to Mr. ___________ then he said,
"Your fiance called here and it's embarassing on our part, I'll send this right away to the high officer and you just have to wait for the delivery of your visa."

Sounds as if they are going to take care of the problem. I'd already sent the faxes yesterday, so I'll have to be sure to mail each of them a wedding photo with a personalized note to thank them for the help (even if they don't do anything, I may never know). I couldn't get 2 of them to go through so I will just hold back for now, but this is great news! I hope she can get the Visa sometimes by at least Saturday and she can be here next week! I'd be so happy! biggrin.gif

I guess, just be sure that you're constantly following-up! They are paying attention, even if it's a slow process.

No doubt, I'm creating 5 faxes tonight! U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, Congressman Sam Graves, U.S. Ambassador Kristie A. Kenney, Dr. Lawerence Mire Immigrant Visa Chief, and William W. Lesh Immigrant Visa Deputy Chief will receive a fax tomorrow morning.

I'm also contacting my attorney via fax to let him know of the situation.

For God's sake? Is this EVER going to happen!?!?!?

WOW! I can't even imagine how you must be feeling. It is inexcusable that their process is that bad. But, from our personal experience, nothing has gone right ever since our documents was sent from NVC to the US Embassy in Manila. I am 27 weeks pregnant but that's not even sufficient enough to expedite my visa. Hope and pray that for you all will be well soon...

Wow, I feel for you. I hope and pray that everything will be ok with your process!

Turns out that my other Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison has a section as well:
http://hutchison.sen...v/casework.html

She also had a Privacy Release Form:
http://hutchison.sen...ReleaseForm.pdf

I'm extremely busy today and her form requests more attachments than Senator Cornyn. All of my pertinent files are at home so I will probably have to send this fax tomorrow, but there's no doubt it's going out tomorrow.

=====================================================

When you go to your Senators' sites, what you need to look for is a section titled something like, "Help with Federal Agencies". You may have to look even further as some will have specific sections regarding immigration help. Keep in mind, only the Senators from your state can help you with your case.

You're welcome. I spoke with my cousin, who's going to be an intern for one of the Senators this Fall, and he had me e-mail my information regarding what's occurred since my fiancee's interview on June 10. He's going to send it onto the people that he knows in the House of Representatives for Missouri. There's also another young man who's involved in politics from this area who graduated with my sister. I'm going to contact him as well.

I'm really hoping that the more we get this information out there, the better the service will become. I read the Embassy's customer service statement (http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwhneng.html) and nowhere on there do they address that they will provide you with timely and efficient service. However, many of us are not receiving any display of their opening portion, "We will treat you with dignity and respect..."

My fiancee provided a CENOMAR and all other required paperwork on her June 10 interview. We still ended up under the dreaded AR Document Verification. They sent a request for a CENOMAR and it arrived on June 27. A few weeks ago, and my fiancee had to submit her NBI Clearance because her's expired on June 15; after it expired, she went to get a new one in case she would need it. They called her on June 30 and she went in that same day to submit the NBI Clearance. I called them just tonight and the person said it seemed odd that she submitted it so quickly. I just told her that she had renewed it and went in the same day that she was called. I was told to call again in 1 week but she couldn't guarantee that the paperwork would be finished. She just said "The caseworker is checking on something." I asked her if that means we need to submit more documents or not, but she said not at this time.

It's been 10 days since she submitted the NBI Clearance. Why does it take so long? They have the damn paperwork, why can't they just approve her and let us get on with our lives? Who are THEY to judge who WE are allowed to be with?

I REALLY wish that I'd of kept a daily diary of this whole process. I would write a book and not stop until it became a #1 seller on the NY Times and Oprah's book of the month club. It's just f'ing BS what we have to go through to get married! My cousin is going to be an intern for a U.S. Senator in the next coming months. I'm going to write a letter about this process and have him give it to the Senator.

Call this number (if you are the petitioner) from the States and this office can give you more details: 011-63-2-301-2000, then 7, then 5184, then when the recorded message says the person is already on the phone, press 0 so you won't be re-dialing the numbers constantly.

You will speak with either Grace or Lorraine, they are very nice and helpful. They also contact your case worker or DELBROS for you. I know they helped my case because a high official told my fiancee he knew I was calling and were embarrassed by the situation, haha.

Have your case number ready!

I'm so envious that you have Filipino stores, though! There's none in my area, and that just makes it all the more difficult to make Filipino food..

Look around a little bit more. Usually, even if the store says "Chinese" or "Thailand", they have Filipino items, or at least something that you can use to prepare your dishes.

I see, you're from Kent, OH. There's an Asian food market in Cuyahoga Falls:

2603 State Rd
Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223
(330) 928-1969

I found that by typing in "kent, ohio asian market" in Yahoo!
The other option is to try something like "kent, ohio chinese market", "kent, ohio filipino market", etc.

Considering you live where Kent State University is located, there have got to be more locations for Asian markets. You could always ask people at the Asian restaurants too.

Good News.

Now let her get some of this Texas Heat.

She will think PI is cool compared to Texas this time of year.......

I don't think so, she lives in Manila. The hottest place I've ever been is Manila and as you know, I work Laredo during its hottest time of the year, in a full suit. I thought I was going to get heat stroke in the "air conditioned" taxi my first day in Manila. I've never been so uncomfortable in my life. We always took the jeepney after that, LOL

That's one good thing is that she will be able to adjust to Texas quite easily. Not to mention, NW Missouri is actually more miserable than Texas (20%-30% higher humidity at least compared to San Antonio), we just doing get the heat for near as long.

Nonetheless, that's why we have air conditioned homes, they work, LOL
