I feel much better after the 'dishwasher incident' over the weekend lol. I can now walk :) and there isn't a softball size knot of tight muscles in my lower back now. I told ya' I'd heal up.

I hear ya on the losing my mind. I'd have spent way more time crying on skype than I already do...poor Trav...

There's a reason why I stay in these NVC threads besides helping people. They're so much fun! I'm just sitting here (at home, thankfully) giggling to myself.

I LOVE when people get having fun with things wherever they are (even though sometimes I'm mrs grumpy pants myself). This is a FUN group of people :D

I'm so sick of the Immigration Limbo... just wish we knew SOMETHING!! I'd like to get a job, but I don't want to get one, just to tell them 'oh I have to go to Canada for three weeks' I could stay home, but I miss Mr. Sheeshka very very much.

:( HUG!!!! Immigration limbo sucks, and I'm sorry but I've got the starts of back arthritis (metaphorically speaking, thanks to this process)...can't bend that way much longer - how about you?

I was informed to contact the embassy by a visa specialist at DOS when i called this morning

Exactly. You did right, I think. Sending copies to everyone makes sure that everyone has it (and they can't say you didn't tell them what you were doing).
Trav&ShellFemaleCanada2012-04-17 13:24:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - April 2012

ok that is what i did, i used my wife email and just sent the email to both NVC ( ATTN : Supverisor Sue ) and Embassy. I put the Senator's office in copy

I think that's good. I did the same thing, only I didn't send my request to the embassy as well (but you and your wife's case is different). I also copied the congressman.

This is cruel and unusual punishment! all the waiting!

LOL..."hurry up....and wait!" :)

That's good - they'll take a look at it sometime soon. I'll keep praying!

I'm with you!!! still waiting!!! I am just ready to give them money, do not lower the fees, just give me the INVOICE :D

LOL...I actually said that to one of the operators when I called on April 6th :) "I'd pay $404, my husband is worth it" lol...they didn't listen! :)

I know how you feel, busy and frustrated with work and life, yet hanging on a GOVERNMENT AGENCY to make you happy. How messed up is that?! :P I have no doubt your invoice will come soon. LOL, thanks!!! i appreciate it... i just dont get it... i'm trying to stay positive but it seems so many are getting theirs now... i see no reason that mine is held back... I hate the randomness at NVC...

You're welcome!! It stinks so bad...it's like they arbitrarily choose whose files they push forward. If yours has no reason, maybe it'll come later this afternoon? I hope so...or maybe they had to just put them in batches because of the enormous task it is to invoice almost two weeks of people. Maybe yours just got put in tomorrow's batch and it'll be ok? :star: :star:

Hmm pending sounds like a way to stop you from calling - as if. :)

LOL how did you guess? :P I'm set to call again at 3:30 PM CST :)

In your case it would be much better for the request to come form your wife, the USC, as she has to show why she needs you in the US.

Trav & Shell's case is different as their case was a major screw up and delayed through no fault of their own.

You are right...and the screw up was mostly with my personal information, so that probably had some bearing...didn't think of that!

And with basic webpages, it's usually just an additional line in the HTML that fixes it to work with various browsers. Usually it's the other way around though, making things work in IE. Not sure if it's the same for making it work for stuff besides IE. But, they're using more than just HTML, so I don't know how hard it would be for those. But nothing too difficult, I'm sure. And I still have one year left for my Programming AND Web Design degree. Going for two degrees :D

Ooooh, awesome! Look at you go! Back in elementary school, I pretty much flunked our programming unit in computer class. Lol. I couldn't make my screen blink different colors :)

If they give you problems, just file another complaint Posted Image

And yeah, still not sure if I want to become a US citizen yet, but if I need to to be able to work at either of those places, I might just do it Posted Image First, I need to finish my programming degree so I'd actually know how to do things over there! :P My first order of business will be making sure their websites work in ALL browsers, not just Internet Explorer Posted Image

LOL...DON'T tempt me...I would be more than happy to oblige with another complaint :P :innocent:

Would fixing their systems to work in all browsers be an easy fix? How much longer on your programming degree anyway? :)

I'm pretty sure I have to be a US citizen to work at those places (government job and all), so it'll be at least another 3 years :P

And yeah, doesn't make much sense... Maybe your files are in the St. Lawrence River :P

booooooo! That would sort of suck...lol. I guess they're just stuck with me phoning twice a day :P

And yeah, you're probably right about the government job thing. Booo to that too - they should so hire you!

But your documents that you sent to NVC were digital... So, it should have been instant Posted Image Unless they're waiting for your physical file that was submitted at USCIS...

Gotta love the mysterious-ness of this whole immigration process Posted Image

Wait till Saylin gets to USCIS and NVC. I'ma gonna clear the entire thing up Posted Image

PLEASE clean it, Saylin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D I know, my docs were digital so this makes zero sense. I have no idea what's happening. that's why I'm worried my file's in the ocean

Yes but they would much consider the USC request than the beneficiary

They accepted mine, no problem - and I'm the Canadian...Travis had nothing to do with it...well, ok maybe a little - he and his parents contacted the congressman after I did (and I think they made more of the difference there...)

I sent another email to the IV Unit at the Santiago Embassy this morning asking them how the expedite process works. They have been very helpful up to this point. They replied to me with this:

Mr. Rogers:

Usually the NVC will contact the consular officer directly for a determination. Normally the consul will accept the expedite process for immigration cases and the NVC will send the cases without an appointment directly to us.
Upon receiving the case , we contact the petitioner directly in order to schedule a final appointment as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Immigrant visa Unit
Santiago, Chile

I really liked the part where it says they normally will accept the expedite process :)

I like your email from them :) As soon as possible makes me happy...wonder if it's similar from Montreal. Maybe I should write them and find out? :P

it seems there's always something to worry about with this process. Didn't think about it at all when initial docs were sent off to USCIS but that turned out to be much quicker than expected and then each stage has it own worry and even now I have the visa there is the worry of selling our house. It never ends I tell you.

Trying to let go of the worry is really hard. Who needs the stress, right? On the other hand - if someone didn't do the worrying, would anything get done? It's an annoyingly vicious cycle...

I am gonna use my wife email account to contact the US embassy in Haiti

I hope it goes well! Do you know what you plan to say?

Deep breath? What's that? :P I know what you mean though - so much to prepare for! Well I think she will be placed in AP anyway so I guess it won't be too bad.

Let me wait till tomorrow and see where my case is. I will then contact my congressmaan whom I had already contacted while waiting for NOA2.

Who will be placed in AP?

wow.. I called DoS and immediately got a visa specialist. She talked so fast I didn't catch her name. No interview scheduled yet,but she was the first one to tell me "You can call back tomorrow"
