i do not agree with this calculation

Rujby...You have proof of her boss saying she makes 960.00 biweekly. Use that, multiplied by 26, just like Matt & Rocio said. It's way easier. :D Your calculation will be ok as long as you have proof - that's my big point. Gotta be able to prove it, and you can with your letter. Although, NVC may get confused and/or stuck on the "year to date earnings" listed, since they're slightly different than the 960.00 biweekly salary. Be prepared...

If the letter says gross pay of $960 every 2 weeks (bi-weekly) then take that amount and multiply it by 26. This is the amount that should be stated on the I-864 for current individual annual income.
$960*26=$24,960

This should be sufficient income unless this sponsors household size is greater than 3.

I definitely agree. On both counts. Now I think it's time for a walk...too many numbers, not enough fresh air!!!

You're giving us two different numbers. You said her employment letter stated she made year to date on Feb 10 $3,3244.98
No matter how you slice that cheese, it doesn't come out to $960.00 bi-weekly.

3,3244.98 / 6= $540.83

540.83 weekly * 52 = $28,123.16
or
540.83 *2 = 1,081.66 8 26 = $28,123.16

Ignore what she "made". That's after taxes are taken. The letter indicates a biweekly salary of 960.00, so she should use this. Way simpler, and he apparently has proof of it.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - March 2012

Gross pay is amount before taxes.
Net pay is amount after taxes.

I would not recommend using the amount paid as of Feb 10, because the first check of the year most likely included income from the last week of the previous year. Also, it could include overtime pay which can skew the numbers. The key here is to determine the pay rate. It sounds the pay rate in this case is $960 every 2 weeks. That is why I suggest taking that amount and multiply by 26 to get the annual income.

Good thinking on not using the amount as of Feb 10. Since he has proof of it on the letter, it's way way way less confusing, agreed?

i totally agree with this, but i just took my mothers bi weekly and divided it by two, then multiplied it by 52 and got her exact salary, only 13 cents over what she actually makes. very close

If you have proof of her biweekly salary, you're good.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - March 2012

this is the number of week left after Feburary 10th 2012

Yes, I get that. But 540.83 is actually the right weekly amount. She worked 6 weeks of the year by Feb 10/12, not 7 (as Sheeshkabelle pointed out - my bad, sorry!!!). So, 3244.98 divided by 6 is 540.83. For a full year, you need to multiply 540.83 by 52. It looks good :)

You're right.

$3244.98. Divide that by 6 (sixth week of the year)=540.83 weekly (which would be 1081.66 Bi-weekly) * 52= $28,123.16 NET (net after tax)

His wife GROSSES $960 bi weekly (before taxes)

YES YES YES!!!! This looks absolutely right :)

the bi weekly earning is stated on her employment letter 960 dollars

OOOOOOH! I get it! The 960.00 is her BEFORE TAX INCOME. The 3244 is AFTER TAXES ARE TAKEN OFF!!! Now it's clear :)

Where are you getting this bi-weekly earning of $960.00

Her employment letter dated on Feb 10 states she earned $3244.98. Divide that by 7 = 463.57* 46= $21,324.15

Why are we only multiplying by 46, for a full year? :D I'm confused

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - March 2012

i am sorry i do not agree with this calculation. February 10th was the 6th week of the year and the number of week left in the year is 46. bi weekly earn is 960. weekly earn is 480. SO it is 480 times by 46= 22080 ( which is the money she will earn after 46 weeks). at the end to have her annual earn for the year, 3244.98 ( already earned) + 22080 ( will earn in 46 weeks remained ) = 25324.98

If I'm not mistaken (and I work in finance), you have to use what the documents state as what you've earned, and you can't just use a number out of thin air (which is the 960, you have no PROOF of that - the only way you can use that is if you have proof).

If she's made 3244.98 for the first 7 weeks of the year, you HAVE to divide that by 7 to get 463.57. This is the weekly amount you have to use because your documents can prove this is what she makes. Multiply this by 52 to get your annual, for all weeks of the year 2012. That is what your earnings for 2012 should be. That amount (463.57 times 52) IS 24105.64.

If you have proof of the 960 biweekly, and I mean financial written proof, you can use it. Does this help?

I talked to Ken today, very pleasant guy. He told me my case is being put into the system right now, he can not access it. With him not being able to see it, means there is a very good chance that a case number will be assigned soon. And to call back later today and he should have something for me.

I like Ken. He's about to become my new favorite person!

Ken sounds like good peeps. Gus was awesome on Friday. What's her name that I spoke to this morning - kind of vague but nice, and told me NOTHING. Less than normal. SO calling again at noon!

Just called NVC.. We finally received our case number and invoice number! YAHOO! Time to email the DS 3032

Yeeeeee haw...we're rollin rollin rollin.... Look at the numbers start coming! :)

But Saylin i re read adding O to question C is like saying i am not yet married. The question says if you are currently married enter " 1" for your spouse. Thus it should be 1, doesn t it make sense?

No, it's not. As Saylin said, you've been accounted for in the first question. They've listed this option for people who are NOT applying for their spouses to come. So, if your visa was for your daughter, and your wife was already with you, THAT is when you'd use question C. In our cases, we're taken care of in question A. Make sense?

Correct That long form is called marriage licence in Toronto as well. But i ordered it from online they asked me long form/short form.Anyway i give a copy of both.Thats for ur reply.Isn't Skype night is tonight? :P

That's strange, when I ordered our certificate they gave an option of the official certificate, a certified copy, or a ceremonial (fancy, non official but pretty to hang on the wall) kind. We went with the official certificate - will probably order the fancy one later :) Sounds like you have the certificate all lined up! Skype night is every night in our household...he's my best friend and we talk every day :D

Gardening season is starting - what have you planted?

Have no garden here - making a list of seeds I'd like my husband to plant for when I get there though! He's also got a few bonsai trees that he's going to try and start. I doubt they'll work but worth a shot...how about you?

Does it has your signature and your husband's signature on it?

no, in manitoba that document means next to nothing, it's just the marriage license. the certificate is issued by vital stats once they get the license given to them by the minister, and that's all the license is good for. The certificate is all anyone cares about here.

I'm submitting the only one I have - lists our names and birth places, date and place of wedding, and when it was registered as legal (as well as the registry number). it's on official certificate paper, with a seal.

CALL! CALL! CALL! Last time before the weekend!

ok...calling lol... :D

And update...Gus was the most fun op to date. He asked my CIS number...I gave it. He started to ask for my name, then stopped himself and said exactly this:

"Actually, well, sorry about that. We haven't finished processing your case yet. It did arrive Monday the 12th, but the good news is that it's here and we're working on it. These cases can sometimes take up to 3 weeks to process into the system. The best I can tell you is to keep calling to check on it. Unfortunately, I have no other information I can give yet but if you have any other general questions that I can answer, I'd be happy to help you."

To which I said: "Actually, I have no general questions right now, I was just calling for more information because let's face it, this is the first bill I've WANTED to pay."

To which he said: "Well, that's good to hear! I'm sorry I didnt' have any more information, but hopefully the next time you call in I'll be able to give you some good news about your case."

Well, there's always Monday. And there's another first - never really liked Mondays, until now :)

Is your husband scanning the picture in color? Don't forget to also write your name and birthdate on the back of the pics! I've written my info on the back with a grey fine tip sharpie. When I get the case number I'm also going to take the I-864 documents that are scanned and manipulate them to include the case number. We will be fine :)

I personally don't think the individual NVC or USCIS employees are to blame for the ridiculous wait times in this process. I think the blame falls squarely on the bureaucrats that run these departments. These are typically people who have never worked in the private sector. They are slow to innovate and make improvements because the system is "working". When there is no real competition in the market mediocrity abounds!

You know, I think you're absolutely right. Just frustrated and disappointed earlier. Sigh...
