Haha, thanks! I'm getting pretty stoked now that it's all sinking in :D We haven't sent in any forms, since my husband is deployed (which is why we got the expedite), and can't send them until he is back... So the expedite won't be as useful as it could be, but definitely speeds things up once he is back :)

That's for sure! The letters the embassy sends you will also be helpful, and some embassies are more responsive than others so you can always try contacting them if you're absolutely stuck!

I just called the NVC and asked about my DS-3032 and my name being wrong on their file and the operator said not worry about any of it, since the Helsinki Embassy has accepted our expedite request and the case will be transferred to Finland in a few days. (!!!! #######!) Awesome, yes, but I'm also a bit confused, it seems we are skipping the NVC stage altogether?? We have already paid the AOS fee, but when do we pay the IV fee then? I've never heard of this happening, so any thoughts? Will all our i-864 and ds-230 documents be processed thru the embassy in a similar way as they would be by the NVC or what? Thanks guys :)

LOL...that's sort of what happened to me :) You will pay the IV fee at the interview, when they're taking in your documents. If you've submitted your I-864 already, just bring your copy to the interview. You'll also submit the IV documents and anything else they need when you're at the interview. The embassy will process everything. :)

Reaaly?i called this morning and they told me they will ship after all the interview is done.It it true?Did nvc told you they shiped your case?

The embassy needs your file in order to do your interview...I'd call NVC back, or even DoS, to see if your file's been sent to Montreal.

Absolutely ! simply check out a wheelchair from the hotel, bring yer own cable bike lock, and revamp yer map for the Poutine Tour (there are two types - one for the STM train, another for walking within a 2 km radius of the IV unit) .

Woo hoo - my husband is going to love this idea! He's a bottomless pit...oh wait, he'll be pushing me and all the poutine that we don't get through immediately...I hope he brings good walking shoes :D

I don't believe you, on this one. Get the wheelchair, and quite complaining. Just think, after the interview? Your husband can take you on the Poutine Tour via wheelchair. It'll be fun.

I'm healthy - can I still sign up for the wheelchair Poutine Tour? It sounds fun :D

Oh no, sorry to hear this happened to you too! Can I just send it over email, or do I need to send it via snail mail? Cuz they just sent the form to me using the NVCInquiry -email address. I need to get on this first thing tomorrow. If I knew how, I'd add here one of those emoticons where they bang their head on a wall or something :D Thanks for your advice!

Oh yes - that was the big part of what happened to me, but because no one could tell me what they needed I was able to get an expedite due to their error. :bonk: I know your main documents need to go via snail mail or courier - but in this case, considering they emailed you - I'd email them your passport copy and note. That way it will be faster (hopefully), or at the very least they can tell you what they'd rather you did to fix this...

And no problem :) Hope it works out fast!

Ugh I guess I'll tag along here too... I got an email from NVC last week stating they are reviewing my correspondance (i.e. the DS-3032), but still nothing. I can't believe why it's taking so damn long! They have my name wrong on the email form they sent me along with the AOS, so I really don't want to mail it in (and sign a form that has my name wrong). The operator refused to fix it, since she said they'll correct it once they get my passport photocopies (which will at this rate be never, since I can't get that bill invoiced lol). That may be an issue, but I don't know what else to do but wait for their decision. It's just a typo on their part, cuz my name was correct all the way up until that point. >:(

Good luck to everyone, hope no-one else gets stuck like us!

Oh wow...you actually got an agent who could tell you what to send in to fix your name! That's what happened to us, they had my last name wrong and it held up everything until I fixed it. Only they couldn't tell me how to fix it - I just started sending documents to them until something worked. You can send the passport copy over any time to the address they used to send you the email form - just include a note requesting they change your name on file.

For two round trip flights from Calgary and 10 days in a four star hotel.. no, that's pretty cheap.

That's true - our round trip flights to Montreal (one from Winnipeg, one from Charlotte), plus 4 nights in the same hotel you all are staying in was about 1100 bucks. It's not cheap, but it's a pretty good deal! and it'll be fun :)

What a productive lunch! Took out $250 to take to the medical just in case they need to do something extra (and if they don't, it's just in case of cooking for my best friend who's putting me up for half a week lol), took out money for food at home, bought my money order for the medical, bought the last of my travel size stuff, got a walk fit in there...whew!

I'm sad because I will be leaving lots of friends and our son.

The immigration guy did say that I wouldn't be able to work on the CR-1 until I had employment authorization though. Is that true??? Saylin? I was under the impression that I could work as soon as the visa was stamped at the border, and I had my SSN

We used drivers licenses but I was surprised at how many people used their passports for an internal flight. And i commented to my husband when we were flying home that it was a good thing I hadn't used my passport.

They want government issued photo ID. So your Manitoba ID card will be fine.

Yeah, people just sort of started forgetting that passports aren't the only id that can be used on a domestic flight. Think I'll use that for all the domestic flights! Thanks for the help :)

By the way, have you looked at these things: http://www.instructa...sealed-bags.jpg ? These things are AMAZING! They really do reduce the amount of space clothes (or other materials) take up.

That's an amazing idea! Could space bag all my clothes into a hockey bag along with some other stuff and probably whittle down to ONE bag!!! Woot!!!!!

...omg. Just hit me - how sad is that, all of my stuff in one bag. Lol.

Apparently it's 6 years: http://www.cra-arc.g...g/menu-eng.html But, I would suggest keeping it for that long for Canada then destroy it if you wish. Or scan them first, keep them saved on your computer, then destroy the physical files.

I think I'd just been keeping 7 years of stuff automatically...so that's all I have on me :) Making my shred pile and my save pile...fun!
