let's say the embassy take their decision to deny it again, i doubt that the senator's office would do something

You need to remember one thing - at this point, you've done all you can. It's out of your hands. It's better to pray and feel hopeful, than it is to worry and think the worst. Right?

Shell the Senator's office say to allow them 2 weeks. The mebassy deicison will come out this weekend or early next month.

That's ok. It really is. The senator is just saying to give them two weeks before writing back about it. The embassy may decide faster. It's ok!!! :)

Frank, I am sorry. Please remove the block on my case so that it shows up in the system. I know after I made fun of you on Friday you plugged yourself in to the computers like R2-D2 and did something to hide my file. I am sorry I take that all back. You are wonderful! I am sure Mrs. Frank thinks you are wonderful too!

Isn t the senator more powerful than a congressman? Who can help better? We have only contacted the Senator not the congressman

I'm not sure - it depends on the official. The way I figure though - if one official gets no results, the other might be able to help you. I also thought a senator would be more powerful, so when the congressman's contact disappeared for a month we tried the senator. The senator did next to nothing, and it turned out the congressman's aide that handles immigration issues was out on an emergency leave. Since then, she's been INCREDIBLE.

Just called NVC to inquire about the IV bill. Gene (sooo nice and sweet) told me that she tried to 'put it through' just now but that the system didn't let her, so she said she'd send something to a supervisor to inquire about it. I asked if there was a problem with MY case specifically since others have received bills since the fee change and she said that as far as she can tell there's no problem at all, just that since the fee change, there's been alot of problems with the system. So this was reassuring for me a little. Hopefully I'll get it soon as well as those still waiting...

Well that's a bit reassuring (although would have been nicer if she'd just been able to spit you out a bill!). Really hope the supervisor can help you!

but we are being so persistent, i hope they got tired of us ( in a good way..lol) and they say :" u know what those 2 have really been a pain in the butt let's expedite their visa so they can stop annoying

LOL...all part of the plan :) You know what they say - the squeaky wheel gets the grease :D Be the squeaky wheel in your case! But...be the squeaky wheel to the right people (Supervisor Sue, the senator...and if the senator does nothing, try the congressman...)

wow.gifThanks so much for such a quick and great reply ! And yep FaceTime is exactly like skype, it is just an iphone app that we get to have actual face-time together hahabiggrin.png

LOL...you're welcome!  I was sort of used like a crash test dummy during my process, since nothing went "the way it should," so can also tell you - when you start calling NVC, you're in for a real treat :) .  But yes - like BOS said, head over to the forum that he linked.  I found those forums to be INSANELY helpful (and we goofed off a lot too).

Skype - oh man, it's almost like sleeping beside your spouse if you leave it on at night.  SO helpful...sometimes it even picks up little snores LOL :P

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsUSC awaiting Canadian wife

Congratulations on filing and joining those who are waiting (and who've done this before smile.png ).  I'd start preparing the documents for the affidavit of support and the actual visa application needed by NVC.  That way, when they're ready for your papers you can just fire them at 'em.  As a USC/Canadian couple, you can use email to apply but you'll need to write your NVC case number at the top of each page.  SOOO....clip the two bundles separately and set them aside in a very safe place (after reviewing them over and over and over.....).  Lots of papers to prepare in the meantime!

Also, just a tip - when I needed my criminal record check done (as the Canadian citizen), once I got my NOA2 I made an appointment with Commissionaires Canada in my city.  They were the most reasonably priced and WAY faster than using the RCMP.  If your wife needs the website for them let me know and I'll hook her up.  I had my record check done twice during the process (because the first one got done so fast it expired before I needed it smile.png ).  MAKE SURE that she knows to get the one done that needs fingerprinting!!!!!  (They can do that, they may look at her weird but if she says "US immigration needs it so I smile and nod" they will laugh and ask no more questions...)

PS - is FaceTime like Skype?  If so - yes, thank God for FaceTime! biggrin.png  We had Skype on 24/7 and it was a LIFESAVER sometimes...

Sweet!!! Want to hear all about it i leave for my medical next week then stayin until my interview.

Actually - all the reviews on the Canada portal were pretty accurate. Ours won't be the same as most thanks to the expedite and three trips to different windows before the interview, but the end result was the same - and everyone except the cranky door security was really nice :) I'll post a review once I'm home though!

Yay! Congratulations :D See, it's a breeze.

It sure was a breeze. Strange part though - the interviewing officer actually started the interview directing her questions at Travis. I was like "heeeeey..." lol. And then one of her questions to me was "so did you ever think you'd marry an American?" My answer was an almost disbelieving "no", and both she AND Trav started picking on me (like, "what, we're not good enough? Jeez..." lol. I was like "no no no, I'm a traditional kind of girl and I'm naturally shy, never thought I'd move that far away from home is all!" :) Then they laughed at me in a goofy way lol...) It was EXTREMELY relaxed...was NOT expecting that lol. She also took the name of the game since she says she's a bit of a gamer and was intrigued :) She also mentioned when she saw that we married 7 months after meeting "that was quick." I think this was halfway through the interview - and we closed the deal by saying "yeah, but we just knew" and looking at each other with goofy grins. This was her response when we said that: :)

Thank you :) It was nerve wracking, but by the time I was walking out I was on Cloud 9. I posted a review on the Canada forum as well as on the official review page if you want to check it out. Haha, I'm glad they worked out well. How did your medical and mini vacation go? I hope the weather was decent here! It was damp and gray in Montreal :(

I'm going to go read that review now - can't wait! Really want to see why nerve wracking though :( Glad you left on cloud 9! :) The medical went well, they sent me home with a piece of paper they should have kept though and had to call me back (thankfully I'm about 10 mins walk away lol). They haven't called me back yet so I'm going to guess all is well. Tomorrow at noon the results will be in my hand! Mini vacation has been awesome - saw the art gallery today (my friend works there so got in free yay!), and tomorrow I'm meeting her and we're going to St Lawrence market. It's not even the driving I'm worried about, it's the stupid work book I need to do. Essay? For driving school? I just spent 4 years with essays coming out of my ears :(! haha. The countdown is in my head... I'm a little superstitious; I don't count my chickens before they hatch, haha. Once I have my flight booked, I'll feel better.

Fantastic realisation!!

an ESSAY for driving?! How does one even write such a thing?! No thank you...apparently it's far easier to learn in VA, so I'll just learn once I'm home. It's probably a good idea to not get any hopes up too fast, just in case. But - soon, flights can be booked :)

And yes, that was an amazing realization considering my boss has been making me CRAZY lately... lol... :bonk:

I finished school back in December and I've been working full time since. I graduate June 18, so I plan on leaving June 22. No reptiles allowed into Hawaii, so my pythons have to find another home here :( As for driving school, I'll hopefully be finished my in car lessons soon enough to leave time for my road test + issuing of my card. Definitely wish I had done that sooner. I'm forcing myself to see the light at the end of the tunnel, haha.

Congrats on finishing school - that's awesome! And if you can do this process, the road test for your license will be piece of cake. LOL...June 22 is a good goal - you have a countdown up yet? :)

The beginning of a new beginning! Kensington is definitely walkable. You could really just walk straight west across College. It's tucked away behind China town (south west of Spadina @ College.) If you're a foodie, try and get to St. Lawrence Market. It was recently voted one of the best indoor markets in the world :D ... there's also a place in there with unbelievable fudge. Tip though, get there early; the place is jammed as the day wears on and it closes kind of early. I still have to pack

I am kind of a foodie...the hips don't lie (sigh, yes I badly quoted a bad Shakira song LOL). I may drag my friend to St Lawrence Market (or just me...lol). That sounds awesome! And yeah...that's an awesome way to look at it - the beginning of a new beginning :luv:

Getting around Toronto can seem daunting at first, but it's super easy. All the roads in the downtown core are a grid, north, south, east, west so it makes logical sense when navigating :D Yonge and College is an interesting area, but if you have the time go exploring! After your medical you can check out the luxurious neighbourhood of Rosedale. It's across a bridge that goes north on Sherbourne - opposite direction of the radiology lab. It's funny because the south end of Sherbourne is all gray, cement and commercial... go north, and you're immediately into quiet tree lined streets and bajillion dollar, ancient houses. Toronto has lots of that contrast, haha.

I was there a few years ago, had a friend drag me all around Kensington village and the Beaches, and took me to Cervejaria for supper (yummy!). Winnipeg isn't nearly that well laid out - it's literally a mish-mash of small towns that grew together, and the roads do NOT make sense in some areas! I may google maps my way to Kensington Village though, and have me some fun (but something tells me I'm not that far from it lol). All checked in for my flight, all documents in my bag, all clothes and everything packed. I guess this is what they call the beginning of the end? :D

Hm, Seiden's is literally a 10 second walk from Sherbourne station (which is one stop east of Yonge/Bloor.) From College though it isn't a long walk, maybe 20 minutes at a good pace. The most straightforward way to get to Seiden's from Yonge/College is to walk north on Yonge till you hit Bloor then swing a right - keeping on the south side - which takes you east. You can see Yonge/Bloor from outside Seiden's office; there's a huge CIBC tower at Y/B, you can use it as a landmark. Not very complicated :) You could always map it on google as well so you can see how it would look.

The 192 is correct for the bus. There are a zillion signs around the airport, so you won't get lost :P It's an exciting bus ride - you get to go on the high way!

Oh the highway...LOL! We don't have exciting buses like that in Winterpeg! I think way back in the day we had streetcars, but not anymore. Yeah, I think she's getting me to stop at college because she wants to show me grocery stores, etc (I plan on cooking while in town, to repay her for the room/use of her only key :) ) Think I'll print out your directions though...and attach them to google maps (the written word is usually more useful than maps, but reference points are awesome). That's REALLY helpful - thanks! :D (I am such a hick, raised in a town of 400 people and moving to an even smaller area LOL...it's a wonder I can even navigate Winnipeg LOL)

1) 9:45 pm? You will not get mugged :P

2) TTC can be weird for a first timer. You can take a cab from the airport if you have a set destination. With TTC there's a shuttle from Pearson to Kipling station (last subway stop in the west end.) TTC fare is $3, exact change. You wouldn't need a transfer to show as proof of payment to go from the shuttle into Kipling's subway, but some stations do require it. From Kipling you'd go east to either St. George or Yonge/Bloor. If you're going downtown like Toronto core area, you'd go south on either of those lines to wherever you're meeting your friend. You can tell me where you're meeting her and I can tell you how to get there, OR TTC's website (http://www.ttc.ca/) has a trip planner.

1) awesome, thanks! Winnipeg can be a little...interesting, at some times of night or in some parts of town. Good to know Toronto is relatively safe, comparatively :)

2) my friend's on Jarvis St, about 10-15 mins walk from the doc's office (conveniently  ). She's telling me to take the 192 rocket bus to the subway, then take the bloor/danforth subway to yonge, then the yonge/university line to college. Then she'll meet me there and show me how to get to the doc's office on foot. Sound right?
