Unless your name is John Amsterdam, I'd contact them about the error and then bring a corrected one to the interview.

Very good - New York City homicide detective John Amsterdam is cursed with immortality because he stopped the murder of a Native American girl in 1642. Geddit now!!!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMistake on DS-230 Part 1
Hi All,

In Additional Information for Form DS-230 – Part one Question 25.

I was in the USA from 06/1995 to 08/1995 but I mistakenly entered 05/1665 to 08/1995.

Should I call the Embassy and inform them ASAP?

Of course, i still have the Passport stamp so I can prove it was an error on the day!!!

Any advice welcome.

Darn farmers fingers!!!

Good luck in the interview - we are just 5 days later in London.

As they don't give the EAD in Dublin Airport I am droppind M off in Dublin so she can bring the dog to JFK with Aer Lingus and then I'm flying to Heathrow to get to the same airport in the USA in order to get the stamp.

More fun eh?

Anyway, good luck!!!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionForm DS-156 Question 38 please help
Relax ...

They seem to run questions into each other. Most likely to safe space ..... the next question asks about school attendance and refusal of admission - not exactly related.

It says a visa MAY not be issued if you answer Yes ... it doesn't say it will ... so might a No however. it doesn't say anything about automatic.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWrong Country on reply from NVC
So we got our daughters Greencard application back this weekend from the NVC and they have a) listed my daughters country as Ireland not NORTHERN Ireland and b) have listed her embassy as Dublin.

Now, she sees herself as Irish so is happy enough AND she is receiving official US mail on her N Ireland address, but won't this create a problem when it comes to interview as Northern Ireland in under UK jurisdiction and so she should go to London?

It's actually handier for her to go to Dublin than London ... it's just down the road rather than a flight away ... so it makes sense but would saying nothing and just going to Dublin create issues at the interview and cause a major hold up?

I think it would be pointless to send in the paper one of you have already done the online one.. defeats the purpose of doing it online...

I agree - but for the cost of printing out a piece of paper and mailing it in it was worth it - I got change of address confirmation on Saturday in the mail - 3 days it took - they said 45.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionchange of address
Yeah - it confused the life out of me too.

That's what I was told by USCIS today ... do the online one but make sure to send in a paper copy too.

Also, if you are applying for three benefits, as I am, i-485 plus travel parole plus employment - you need to change your address for all three benefits and then send in a AR-11 - just the one AR-11 though.

The guy at USCIS told me I needed to send three AR-11s at first but once I pointed out there were no case numbers on the AR-11 then he put me on hold and came back and said I was right, just send in the one AR-11.

I hope this info can help some people get through this a little easier.

Having just got off the phone from the USCIS they said even though I had submitted a AR-11 online I also had to submit one physical copy.

So I'd advise you to send one off to the them as well ... that's what I'm doing.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionchange of address
Yeah - I'm in the Change of Address nightmare also. Wish i hadn't bothered as my in-laws is where the forms are going to and we speak to them daily. I can't help but feel this is going to delay stuff.

So I changed the address on the i-485 online - do I also need to update the address on my i-765 or are they bundled? Do I need to post in the AR-11 as well as fill the one in online? God this confusing.

Also, the address on the USCIS website to send the i-865 to is different to the address on the form itself - any body got any suggestions as to which one is right?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionFunny, I have just received a reminder to removal of condition

I thought that USCIS wasn't sending out REMINDERS anymore as a courtesy and even the officer conducting our interview told us so, but LO AND BEHOLD I received a letter from USCIS reminding to apply for the removal of condions. The other funny part is that I have moved three times since my AOS and even filed the R-11 change of address on the USCIS website all three times. But the letter was sent to my original address from when I 1st sent my AOS packet. But it was forwarded to my present address. Also I thought Government letters were not supposed to be forwarded?
Anywho I got my packet ready and I will be sending it after the 15th of December, the earliest I am allowed to do so. Good luck to all who are awaiting and to those next !

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 address change question

Mother in-law should be Joint sponsor, and the person who originally file I-129F your spouse should have been primary sponsor even if income was such that a joint sponsor was needed.

Dont worry much, the I-865 tends to be forgotten by many, just get it filed.

When we went for our 2-year interview we had submitted a change of address for me the Fall before but they never asked anything about it.

I'll get that filed though.

Thanks for the heads up.

Oh Thank you so much!!!! That was seriously doing in my head and I had to take a tylenol.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 and I-129F?
Instead of starting a new topic I thought I'd ask my question in a somewhat related thread. My Scottish fiance and I are going to be married next month in Scotland. A week and half later I'll be coming home and begin all of this. I know I have to file the I-30 before the K3. The problem I am having is where we file the K-3. One site says I have to send it in to the office in the US, another says we have to send it in to the consulate where our wedding took place. Still another says to send it to the office in the US and they will forward it to the consulate in the UK. I'm so confused right now. I've been searching for hours for answer.

Anyone know for sure where I send the I-29 to?

I now have to wait till next week to see if my passport contains a visa or not when it arrives. She said its going to some review board thats gonna decide...I asked if I could call for status update but she just told me to wait tilll my passport show up

Lets hope your ok..

I had my interview today and I also have a DUI convition from back in 07. I got
approved for a pre-trial diversion which means it will be taken off my record after
paying more fines + community service. Everything was fine
untill the end they started asking about my dui conviction and were looking at all the papers,
also calling about it and then they said my visa is "on hold" and I have to call back in a few
days to find out if im approved or not. :(

Karel, all the best to you man ... please keep us informed ... I'd be interested to hear what happens ...

When you say, "also calling about it", who did they call? The doctor? The Police? The court? What papers did you bring and what did they have already?

Thanks and Good Luck!

You are definitely better to be prepared but it seems you are OK ... this from the link Krikit posted ...

A re-examination is required by the Department of Homeland Security when the criminal
record of an applicant for immigration benefits reveals a significant history of alcohol related
driving incidents. A significant criminal record of alcohol-related driving incidents
includes:

1. One or more arrests or convictions for alcohol-related driving (DUI/DWI) while the
driver’’s license was suspended, revoked or restricted at the time of the incident(s).

2. One or more arrests or convictions for alcohol-related driving where personal injury or
death resulted from the incident(s).

3. One or more conviction for alcohol-related driving where the conviction was a felony in
the jurisdiction where the incident occurred or where a sentence of incarceration was
actually imposed.

4. Two or more arrests or convictions for alcohol-related driving with the preceding two
years.

5. Three or more arrests or convictions for alcohol-related driving where one arrest or
conviction occurred within the preceding two years.

Only applicants with a significant criminal record of alcohol-related driving incidents that
were not considered by the civil surgeon during the original medical exam are referred for
re-examination. The re-examination would be limited to a mental status evaluation
specifically addressing the immigrant’’s record of alcohol-related driving incidents.

United KingdomApplicants Own Funds
Hi there Ukers,

Has anyone else here submitted Applicants Own Funds evidence as well as the Affidavit of Support, just to be safe?

The Embassy need "proof of ownership of property or real estate, in the form of a title deed or the equivalent". My Building Society won't release my Title Deeds to me but will send me a certified copy of the main purchase deed with a stamp and original signature. Do you think this qualifies as "the equivalent".

And one more thing, they also state that "If the financial resources are derived from a source outside the United States, a statement as to how the funds or income are to be transferred to the U.S. must be provided." Is this just a letter from myself stating that I will open a US bank account and transfer the money to it when the house sale completes?

Thanks.

So, I download, fill in and send off the following forms?

DS-230 Part I
DS-156
DS-156K

I also have to send back the checklist (IV15)

Even though we haven't gotten the new Police cert and the Affidavit of Support stuff back from M's mom we will send the IV15 back as complete and hope for the best.

Does the updated letter of intent get taken the interview or sent back with the packet 3?

I posted all 4 but obviously they really only need the info on the first two pages.

I heard back from the Embassy yesterday and I have an interview on April 28th. They confirmed that I could use the original Affadavit of Support form that we originally completed when we applied for the I-129F. They already have these on file so I'm just waiting for the Police certificate too. I panicked so paid the £70 instead of the £35. It's only money!

Good luck with your filing. I think it took them a week from me sending the packet 3 to them replying with a date. INterview date is 2 weeks after receiving packet 4. That info might help you in your planning.

United KingdomProof of Custody for UK K1 Visa
Just to let everyone know,

We decided to leave my daughter in Ireland until she reaches 18 at which stage she can make her own mind up and we can apply for an i-130 then.

It may sound callous but there was too much time, money and legal processing to contemplate at this stage what with the visa, house sale, moving, cash, etc.

She can spend her summers and Christmas with us in the USA and get a better feel for the place. She's 18 in 2 years time and then the world's her oyster. In the meantime she has the best of both worlds - holidays in the USA (I didn't even get on a plane until I was 19 let alone go to the USA twice a year) and few more years with her Mum at home.

So there you go!!!

If we say no, the kids won't be coming over, either now or in the future, we cam still file a K2 though, right, and sort this stuff out in the meantime?
