Well she's just 15 and in an attempt to get her to act like an adult we let her make her own choices about some things. And I know this is a real biggie.

She wants to go but has been told the pros and cons. Being 15 American guys, Jobs and Music are all pros to her right now. I've told her she has to say Goodbye to her mum, her boyfriend, her school friends, her cat, etc and that put the fear of God in her.

She's also been told that while she can leave 'school' here this June and study hairdressing (her choice again, not mine) if she comes with us then she has to stay in school until she's 18. No ifs or buts.

i just don't want to put her name down and she backs out and then we turn up for interview and/or entry and there's no sign of her and it will create problems. If she decides to come a year later then she won't mess things up for herself or us. Life, eh?

Hi All,

Getting ready to put the Packet 3 together for return. My daughter is keen to emigrate with me and SO so we want to write her down as coming with us. HOWEVER, she wants to have the option of changing her mind. So, if we put her down on the Ds-230-Part1 as Person Accompanying You Now and she changes her mind later - as is her want - where does this leave our application?

Does any one have any guidance? Pretty please? Can we just explain this at the interview?

(PLEASE avoid telling people flatly that they "don't need a lawyer" unless you know every intricacy of their situation.) Roy, read the Guides (atop every screen here), and consider any possible wrinkles in your case (has she ever overstayed a visit to the U.S.? has either of you been arrested? etc.), and proceed from there. Many people here can comment wisely, and some will not. Only you can judge the difficulties or simplicity of your case, and you know your own abilities best. If your case is straightforward and you can read accurately, interpret literally, and answer honestly, you could do fine by yourself.

This has happened to another member, not me personally, but I thought I'd draw attention to it for future filers as it MAY cause us to get a RFE ...

The British courts do not sign Decree Absolute cartificates. It is issued by the court with their stamp. In some cases USCIS are now asking for a signed decree by a judge or a legal authority in the UK.

If you are applying from the UK and want a certified copy of the divorce, visit the court that issued it and ask for one of the clerks there to certify it.

Better to be safe than sorry!!!

?? Did spouse provide an I-864 when adjusting status. UK may allow K-1 to "Self Sponsor" for the visa, however USCIS tends to want petitioner to provide an I-864 when adjusting status, or an I-864W would be needed when adjusting status. Was there an I-864, or I-864EZ involved when adjusting status?


Yes, there was actually ... my mother-in-law ... but she is still in the same address.

My wife has been at Law school the whole time we have been here and didn't sponsor me as far as I can recall. Or maybe she did adn her mother-in-law was the main sponsor.

Maybe I should call them and inform them of that change of address for my wife also?

hey All,

I'm sure I'm not alone in having to write additional addresses on my I751 Question 9.

The problem is, I can't remember the exact date I entered on the AR-11 to say we moved. We took over the house on June 1st 2010 but didn't stay there 'til late June as we were out of town and kept both our new and old residencies. I did file an AR-11 but I've mislaid it and they never sent me a letter saying 'Thanks for filing the AR-11'.

Do you think that putting a month in Question 9 would suffice rather than the exact date or could I call USCIS and ask them for the date I submitted the form?

We just sent photos, joint bills, joint car titles and car insurance, random bank statements and stuff from March 2008 onward as that's when we last interviewed for our two-year Greencard.

We did include our baby's birth cert but sure that doesn't prove any thing according to them.

I'd better gather up some more stuff.

Congrats to all the people who have been approved, but have they quit working altogether? Nothing new on my status since February 25th when they received it.

As I've stated previously, I think we will get an RFE as we didn't put in a rental agreement and that seems to be a deal breaker (essentially we didn't have one in our possession but can ask the landlady for a formal letter, etc).

Can I pre-empt a RFE and send in other evidence without them asking for it?

Not entirely true, thats the oldest petition they are working on, as of last week they have started to approve July petitions, so in reality its running at 4 1/2- 5 1/2 months(or 145 + days) for the majority of petitions . Hang in there we all have bad days. good.gif

Hi All,

I see they updated their time lines for the CSC K-1 visas - all the way to April 29th 2007 - from April 12th 2007. So in a month they got through 17 days of K-1s. Nasty - given the huge surge in May, June and July we (October posters) should be getting ready to go to the USA this time next year/decade/century!!! Seriously though, that means that as of Novenber 14th the wait is 6.5 months - and that's before they hit the surge ... Not happy today now!!!

Doesn't the visa get couriered? Therefore it isn't ransom to the Christmas rush the way the post is. If I had waited since May I'd put off going on holiday if I was given the choice ... the visa is enough reason to be happy.
