I am divorcing right now awaiting my decree seperated for years just never finalized (I married the guy next door who was /is my best friend I just didnt know when I married him how BAD OIL AND WATER can be!) . I will then submitt my paperwork. My Fiance' lives in Jamaica, I live in St. Louis, Mo USA (Visit Every Month for mor than a year, I have every itenerary and passport marked)

Situation/ Circumstance #1:I do not get paid by check nor have I filed any taxes for probably3yrs! (Will it be a problem if my sister provides affidavit of support she makes $60k? If not what form is this? )
#2 What is "parole"?

3.Will he have to gamble and try to get an appointment on Jamaicas Web for a visa appointment. (We have been trying for a NIV appointment for mnths and we finally got a apointment and it was denied. Went to appointment with documents and pic as proof that :He owns his Home c Car, Works Full Time and Has his own business, $6,000usd worth of business equipment. Has custody of his 3 children and Crippled 78 year old mother! Go figure blink.gif ) So will he have to try to get an appointment for K1 visa or will they set it by way of US?

4. I am the only one who is TOTALLY EXHAUSTED! by this entire process!
I would appreciate all the help I can get. (Please dont get frustrated by my questions because I will have plenty of them)

On a brighter note take a look at the following link. If you are still in this process it will make you happy!

Keep smilin sistahs, maybe we can all have a drink on the beach in Jamaica! (Then fly away with our spouses and do something to make things easier for those to come:) good.gif )

Question, Are you and your finance coming to the USA to live if the visa is granted?<Yess>
You'll wish to apply for the finance visa, then you need to read up oon the guidelindes. See the link under the GUIDE tab above

Yes you can have a "commitment ceremony". I just wouldnt go around showing lots of pics and making it look like a wedding. A commitment ceremony is common for many cultures and religions so the immigration officers at interviews have seen them. Maybe more so out of other countries besides JA, but it is common an done regularly. I think its also a good thing as "proof of relationship" to the officer to have your family being there and witnessing your profession of a future promise together. I know that I hear its easier when the CO can see family members being involved in your relationship form the beginning. I guess the CO thinks that something as important as planning to marry someone would be shared with your family so its a bit suspect when they dont see ANY family involvement.

Just make sure there is no looks of exchanging wedding rings and such so that the officer is not confused that this was a wedding vs. commitment ceremony. I would just not make the atmosphere look like a wedding.

Great Advice and I really appreciate it

When I posted my 1st Entry There were typos. I think I corrected but if not here are the corrections.

My Fiance lives in Jamaica
I live in St. Louis Mo USA
I visit monthly <Charterd Flights from Stl not very expensive 3hr straight flight>
I am awaiting my divorce decree from 1st marriage. <Waiting to file K-1 of course>

Additional Question: Each year my entire family goes on vacation together! So they are all coming to meet Noel for the first time. Will it affect my K-1 process if I have my "comittment cermony" while they are in Jamaica with me. But not do any paperwork/ MARRY LEAGLLY until I get to the states? i REALLY APPRECIATE ANY INFO YOU ALL COULD GIVE ME.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIf My Fiance Owns His Business and doesnt want
Do you guys know a time range on K3? A 2 year time frame would work because by that time we may be able to make better arrangements for his mother.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIf My Fiance Owns His Business and doesnt want
Its not that we dont want to get married. I was just trying to figure out which would be best form him not being to stay in the US with no travel back to Jamaica until the entire process is complete. I am pretty sure a visitors visa will be denied and we have decided to get married by this fall. I am just looking for the visa option which will allow him to come to the state and travel back to Jamaica within a few months if need be. With out starting thie entire process over.

BTW. Thanks so much for the feed back!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIf My Fiance Owns His Business and doesnt want
My SO owns his own business and has children and a disabled mother that he is responsible for. At this point in his life he is not interested in moving full time to the states. I own my business and I am not interested at this point in my life to move to Jamaica, so I visit him monthly (rt tickets less than $300) I have been to Jamaica every month since April 2007.
We are planning on getting married but I am trying to understand what would be best for our situation. (K1, K3, or some other visa option)
He wants to be "FREE" to visit me and we go back and forth. But I know he would not be able to stay in the US for 1 year to complete this process, without his business and family sturggling. What are our options ?

Hey Journee...what's up girl. You can't start the process on a negative note. You will be APPROVED. Although I've not know anyone who had an denial in the 1st stage of the process I do know quite a few people who received RFE (Request for Evidence). Just provide what information they need and you're good to go.

I can't imagine what you would have to initialize here in St. Louis. Big waste of time to go down there before you have to. Believe me when I say they have enough issues just doing the stuff you need to have done down there.

Anything you have to do regarding immigration is done down there. We went to another office down there to ask a question about EAD while there for a biometrics appointment. While they were extremely nice, even about us not having an appointment, they were not very helpful.

If you have to go, park at City Hall. It's only $1 an hour (or any part there of). Much cheaper then any other lot around there ($5 and up). Our 3 visits to that building took around a half hour each. Dillon.....same with you when you have to go.

Don't ever feel stupid Journee. I know how confusing it is. I've learned by a whole lot of trial and error. I hope to save all you St. Louisians after me from having to learn that way. And, one day, I am going to take you up on the lunch date; but we are going to meet up with Dillon too! I won't hold you to the paying part. I want to help.

From Day One you have always been a "Doll" thanks so much. And you know I appreciate it!

What appointment, Journee? Your interview for K1, CR1, or K3 would be in Jamaica - That is all this relates to, appointments at the Consulate in JA - Nothing to do with field offices.

Yes, that is what I am saying. I know what building you were referring to Journee, as I said, we have been there several times. The interview you would have to have there, if you had to have one, would only be for AOS or ROC, and as I said above, you have to go there for biometrics both times.

As Sus said, the K-1 interview would be in Jamaica at the embassy.

Okay

JG When I am ready to do my paperwork I will buy you a nice lunch if you help me. And I will bring you one small CHEAP item of your choice from Jamaica if you dont laugh at me for NOT KNOWING SHYT ABOUT THIS PROCESS. As soon as I think I know what to do or how to proceed. I feel like the biggest "DWEEB" EVER!!

I saw something on the web about initializing this process in St. Louis at the Wainwright Building. It even gave me an appointment <Had to reschedule ofcourse> but it was at the Wainwright Building.

A document preparation service is for someone who intends to proceed pro se (do it themselves) and the service is for someone to help them fill out the forms - the person is not supposed to give legal advice or direction, just help with the forms - it's a very hard area, and one that's touchy for me (no offense, Journee) - as paralegals we fight really hard for recognition that we provide a valuable service - some of these self help companies give us a bad name, because people link them with paralegals -

How do bankruptcy courts look at document preparation services?

I am not 100% positive on a state by state basis - but typically they aren't even aware that someone else prepared the docs - bankruptcy is a little different, because it's a matter of calculating finances, etc.... The ones that really piss me off are the do it yourself divorces, etc... preparers - because i have done clinics, and have a really hard time seeing how you can prepare docs for someone getting a divorce and not give advice -

Most of these go somewhat unnoticed until an attorney starts losing clients or money and pays attention - then the bar usually tries to go after them.

You are right. But we basically provide the paperwork, look it it over and make sure that you have listed items correctly and give you additional info on how to proceed.
There servies here that do recieve some flack from Labarge and have been shut down. But for the most part all I can speak for is mine and I am kind of straight laced when it comes to it because I dont want to get i"n trouble" with this business because it is hard as hell to "get out".

still wish I had Journee's time off though.. i am too lazy to start my own business.. blush.gif

Takes alot of patience. I dont suggest it any one who has not researched their business and have at least minimal experiance. And this is not my 1st or only business. I have never had "just a job". I always had a full time and a part time (working for my self). Fortunatly I have been sucessful <got a decent savings and I aint never been foreclosed, repoed or evicted or had to steal food, THANK YOU JESUS>.I like "Unique Ways" of making money!!! Legal of Course.

I am sorry guys. I am not really used to this new page and I am logged in but not always "browsing this page". You are correct Sus there is alot of flack for Prep Documentors. I worked in Eastern Dist bankrupcty court for a long time <I was the person paralegals loved so much. I verified all of the documents and returned "many" cases for schedule discrepencies to firms for additional information. I worked as a "Creditor" in Southern District Bankruptcy Court for a while and I worked in my step mothers firm part time to pay for college.

So a few friends throw me some "over flow" business and I get some good referrals. Unfortunatly with our economy, bankruptcy court and attorneys in Stl are soooo backed up. I am not experiancing a shortage of business.

The files we <2 other ladies work with me> work, detail on page 1 before schedule A lists in detail that you are aware your paperwork is being by a service not affiliated with an attorney and you are filing pro se.

At this point I have not had any cases come back to haunt me and if I stick to the rules I wont. I dont make millions but its a living and I had some experiance before getting into the business. I enjoy working for myself. I enjoy tryng new businesses. I am not the traditional type of 9 to 5ver. So I have to admit. I enjoy "Not Having A boss"

Okay, Journee - Have to ask - What the heck do you do for a living that you can go so much? I'm jealous!

Sorry Sus,
I just saw that you sent me this question. My Sister and I own a Day Spa and Events Planning Business. And I just started my own Bankrupcty Documentation Preparation Service. That is primarily why I can leave so much. Because most of my work can travel with me. Thanks to all who answered wiht wireless connection in Jamaica.
