This is pretty strange, i too looked at the payment portal and it have me the same msg.. below is the exact msg i saw

Sign In Failed
Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time. Please click on the Contact the NVC hyperlink if you believe that you have received this message in error.

But, when i call NVC automated phone number, i can still access my case status there.. So now i am very confused.. I logged in a few days ago and i could get to the payment portal (of course i had to use it to print the document cover sheet for Affidavit of Support and for DS-230)..

The payment portal says that it is not eligible of further processing at NVC, but in their automated phone msg, it says that they are waiting on my DS-230 (which they received last tuesday,i got that msg cause they had already got my AOS forms and were waiting to get the DS-230 form)

Anyway, if anybody can shed some light on this situation and what it means, i would be eternally grateful.

Yes, that's what we call the SIF, which virtually means that your case has been completed (it should say that on the AVR, as well).

our case was completed at NVC on March 23rd. my question is now, will there be mentioned on the AVR that the files are forwarded to Frankfurt embassy or will I hear from Frankfurt right away? And when I hear from Frankfurt, will this be per email or per postal mail:

Also I would like to know, my husband was unemployed for 12 weeks while the case was pending and AOS was sent with last taxreturns, but will start his job again next week, could I get problems at the interview because of that?

Yes, the AVR message should change; it should say something like, "This case completed on xx/xx/xx and was forwarded to consulate on xx/xx/xx." An operator I spoke with said that both the petitioner and beneficiary will be emailed when the case is forwarded.

It's recommended that you bring copies of all the paperwork that the petitioner sent in. The officer is going to be asking you questions based on all the answers on those forms, so it would be a good idea to review those and have them with you.

Just put in the month/year of your birth to Present. So let's say you were born in January of 1980, you would put:
01/1980 - Present.

Simple as that.

With the exception of a marriage certificate, a couple of affidavits from friends and a letter I wrote detailing my relationship with my wife, I had very little evidence of a relationship to submit with my I-130 (which was approved last week). Since then, over the course of three more visits to China, I've accumulated enough evidence to convince any reasonable immigration officer. Since it appears that most cases are decided before the actual interview, it is important that the interviewing officer have as much evidence as possible before the interview. BlueWolf wrote a great guide, http://www.visajourn...ost__p__4100571, about to front loading the DS 230. In situations where more evidence to support the validity of a relationship may be needed, like mine, this is obviously the way to go. Now that I am preparing to do this, I wonder how much to front load with the DS 230??? If I sent the whole kitchen sink, I'd be sending attachment after attachment (I'll be opting for EP) of documents, photos, affidavits, etc. I fear that sending in too much would be counter productive, if it caused the party receiving the information to overlook much of it because it was simply too much to pour over. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience as to what the limitations should be and what would be the most effective things to send in?


I think you should only send in exactly what they ask for. The extra evidence that you have should be saved to take to the interview.

I have a question .....
I called NVC today just to see if they have my case yet they do but not in the system....

I have all the papers I need and stuff but my friend told me that I will need proof that my husband was in the army before.....

I was wondering does anyone know would NVC take it if it was Faxed or do they need an Original?

I am just so confused wish I knew this before while I was still in Europe with my husband...
Now it might take awhile for him to send me the original if they want it... ahhh...

They will definitely want an original/certified copy. If you send in a photocopy you will get an RFE, no doubt.

I sent my wifes IV off to NVC on the April 18th...Tax Day. I used USPS certified Priority Mail and they said it should arrive tomorrow, Thursday, April 21st. How will I know when it is "in the system" at NVC? Could it be the day after they recieve it?

She is in the Philipppines and will be interviewing in Manila. From what I can tell by reading other similar timetables in this group, we should know when the interview is scheduled in about 2 weeks. Does this sound right?

It takes about two weeks from the time your case is actually delivered to the offices to the time it shows up in the system. AVR is pretty up-to-date nowadays- at least for me it was.

I had been waiting for a new social security card for a while but there was no sign of the card arriving in mail. A month after I arrived in US with a CR-1, I decided to call the SSA (social security administration). Their response was that they would not send me a new card nor update my status in United States unless I apply to do so. (it would have been very nice to know right?)

I was advised to fill out Form SS-5 (http://www.ssa.gov/ssnumber/) and bring it to a local SSA office with my I551 (green card). The key here is that you are asking for a corrected card since your status in US has changed.

I am not sure if the same thing happened to those of you who had the SSN with an annotation such as "not authorized for employment" but if you are one who has not received the card from them, you should do the same.


Did you mark on the DS-230 that you wanted the SSA to send you a card? That's what my husband did. I will make sure to tell him about this if he doesn't receive his green card soon after arriving in the U.S. Thanks for the info!

Yep...that's exactly what we did and so far have gotten from March 24th the date our NOA2 was approved until today...at NVC...I'm express mailing the packets today...so far it hasn't been so long after all at NVC but prayerfully our files we all be in order with all the information in place and no RFE....and they can move us forward in a couple of weeks ...n we PRAYYY that he will make it in time for our anniversary in October.... :clock:


If you don't get any RFE's (which I hope you don't) then you can get out of NVC in two more weeks or so- it took 20 days for my case to be completed so don't worry! I think you will be together for your anniversary! NVC is quick. :star:

I tracked my packet and I saw the NVC received my package this Monday. I'm just curious about how long does it take to get our packet sent to the embassy in Bogota? And then how long to get our interview date? Thanks in advance.


It will take about a week for your packets to be entered into their system. A few days later, if you don't receive any RFEs, your case will be completed and then be under Final Review. A few days after that they schedule your interview with the foreign embassy. And about a week after that they ship your case to the embassy.

I juat call USCIS to find out what's going with my case cause it's been 5 months 2 weeks waiting for NOA2.
Their answer was same"your case is still under processing time frame" they are working on OCT 2nd,2010 right not.
they told me to wait 37 days more for response...if i don't get anything by that time,call them again.

I don't even know why USCIS have customer service,they are good for nothing...no matter who calls them...their answer will be same.
Guys seriously,i'm getting sick and tired of this immigration process.

If you don't learn to have patience then you won't get through this easily. I waited almost 6 months for my NOA2 and although it was hard, coming on this forum and seeing others in the same boat as me gave me hope. Keep calm and keep the faith.

After you get your NOA2 it takes about a week for it to arrive at NVC. After that, it takes a week or two for your case to be assigned a case #. From there, if you don't get any RFEs, you can get CC (Case Complete) in as little as 2 or 3 weeks. After your case is completed you are assigned an interview date.
