IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCSC to TSC to NVC: the Saga continues

Ok thanks, i hope we'll hear good news soon too. They also told us to wait 15 days and then email our approval notice, so we did everything, but still no news from them...We also talk to operators and AVR, but no case nuber yet... well, maybe today, who knows...

Same here! How often are you planning on calling NVC? I want to call the AVR every day but every time I hear "we have no record of your case number" I die a little bit inside.

I hear you and totally understand how it is...

Her email is Angela.Barrows@dhs.gov.

I never got any email from USCIS, so I am assuming it's sitting in a storage room somewhere. Ugh it's so frustrating. Makes me want to cry...

I agree, but we dont want to badger the staff..as you pointed out earlier, it could cause harm to us rather than good.

I just sent a short email to Angela Barrows- how long does she usually take to reply?...

We did that and no reply from NVC yet...
According to Saylin 9 people from TSC received their case numbers. Here is the spreadsheet https://spreadsheets...dWc&hl=en#gid=0

Thanks, I really need to favorite the link to the spreadsheet :P

Now I must wait patiently for my congressman's response. Wait, did I say patiently? I meant EXTRAORDINARILY IMPATIENTLY :/

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCSC to TSC to NVC: the Saga continues

Here is another bump in the road of our journey...I was approved on the 1/10/11 and got the email it was sent to NVC on 2/03/11...I emailed NVC this past weekend and I hope to hear something soon...At this point I don't know what else to do...Does anyone have an opinion on what us that are still waiting for a case # at NVC can do? Did TSC really ship it?

When I called NVC yesterday the woman told me to scan my approval letter and email it to the NVC research email (which I'm sure a lot of you were told to do) and then I got frustrated and typed up yet another letter to send to my congressman. I put it in the mail today so I hope to hear something back within a few days.
I knew in my gut that getting our NOA2s wasn't going to get us anywhere quickly.
Question: of all the people whose petitions were approved this year, how many have received their NVC case #s?...

This is VERY, VERY good news. It MAY show that TSC are getting their act together on this. It's kind of made my day!!

Thanks! Posted Image

Yay! This made me happy, too! At this time tomorrow I will be on a plane heading over to Paraguay for a week! I will be checking my email off and on and if I get that USCIS email I will post on here!
Best of luck to all of my VJ friends!!!!!

Yes, but 90 days - that's three months. I can't believe it will actually take that long. I have a good feeling that TSC are getting more organised. I am truly hoping for the 15 days they quote. Our expedite is ready and waiting for NVC.

I notice CSC takes between 5 and 7 days to get the petitions up to NVC. It just is not fair.

Yes, they said 90 days but I want to believe that it will only take a month! I wish it were less but I guess I will take what I can!
I hope NVC handles your expedite better than TSC did!

Mike posted the email he got on the CSC to TSC thread.

Looks as if it is another month of email/text watching.

How much more can we stand?? Ughh - I swear it's like thumb screw torture.

Customer service woman just told me to wait 90 days after approval.
Sooo one more month of waiting. My husband has to get his military record next week so I'm not in a super hurry but..I don't know...I mean I don't have any high expectations for TSC for getting our petitions out of their offices and into the hands of NVC!

skynaut,

I asked mike about it and he said that he got an email that his case is shipped to NVC. it took 7 days after he received email to get his case number. it means that we have to wait to get an email from TSC that our case has been shipped to NVC. hope to get this email soon. Mike got it after 38 days of his approval.

Oh geez- so we should be waiting for another email? I'm calling Customer Service right now to see if I can squeeze any more info out of anyone.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCSC to TSC to NVC: the Saga continues

Ohh, that's a good point. My thinking was that unless you are doing Direct Consular Filing, the "country in which application for a visa is being made" would be the U.S., since you're sending your application to the NVC (although aside from the Affidavit of Support, I guess the NVC is mostly just collecting the documents to send along to the consulate).

Even if it's not necessary though, it seems like the safest thing to do would be to send in translations because maybe the consular officer would want to see them. Again, I don't know what's necessary/best, but that's just what I would do to be on the safe side. Obviously this situation is different, but when I was applying for my Taiwanese passport (which I applied for while here in the States), I had to translate my birth certificate into Chinese.

I agree- I figure since I've already done the translations then I might as well send them in.

I would gladly volunteer to drive to Mesquite, Texas, and deliver the approved petitions to Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

I feel the same way! "We have sent the above petition to the NVC..." that's past tense so they are liars with their pants on fire.
Maybe to save on the cost of shipping they're waiting to send them all in one big box? Honestly, I don't know what to think anymore! :(

some people dont even have their original birth certificates (my wife)...I am going to send them a certified copy and hope it works. She got it from her register in her hometown, and it is official, so I am not sure why it wouldnt work.

Exactly! I had lost my original birth certificate so I requested a new one. Any copy made by the Bureau of Vital Statistics is a "certified" copy.

So you would get it back during the interview?

I wouldn't send anything beyond what they ask for.

How can an NVC officer verify a document in a foreign language without an English translation? I'm sending in the translations. The last thing I need is an RFE! :)
J e n n yFemaleParaguay2011-01-29 14:50:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCSC to TSC to NVC: the Saga continues

I would suggest the original. Those people had two certified copies issued the the proper authorities and they still didn't approve it. I asked about translation and they said it's not needed as long as the language spoken in that country is the same written on the cert. I ended up sending the 25 year old one. Good luck.

So there is no need to send in a translation with the birth certificate? I already translated it so I was going to send it attached. I also translated the police certificate. It wouldn't hurt to send in the translations, right?...

From the NVC website:

You (and any family members immigrating with you to the United States) must obtain an original birth certificate issued by the official custodian of birth records in your country of birth, showing your date of birth, place of birth, and parentage.

Hi, call them everyday. When my case went to NVC, I waited about five days, called and asked for the case number. The operator wouldn't give me the Invoice ID number so I hung up, called again and told the second operator that I was previously given the number but misplaced it. Send in the choice of agent form by email and you can bug them as much as you like. Unlike the USCIS, you can actually try to get some info. Lastly, make sure all those forms that you will send with the DS-230 packet is complete. I got an RFE. They said we didn't send an original birth certificate. I said that they have two "certified" copies and that should be sufficient enough. They still said no. That little hick up cost me at least an extra month. Every body that had their files sent to NVC the same time I did are already doing interviews. Good Luck.

Sam,

Sam, thanks for the info. Regarding the birth certificate, I have my husband's original certificate but he had a new one created to get his military record. The new one looks nicer (25 years takes a toll on a piece of paper lol) so I am planning to use the second one. Do you think that's ok or should I use the original one?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCSC to TSC to NVC: the Saga continues

If you don't have a case # within 15 business days from your I-797C approval notice, NVC will tell you to send them a copy as an attachment to an email to nvcresearch@state.gov. After I sent NVC a copy of my NOA2, I called USCIS, and they sent me a letter stating that my case had been "ordered approved in November, BUT was still being processed, and that a request had been sent to the adjudicator to finish processing my case." Still waiting on TSC to forward my case to the NVC. All I can do is wait at this point.

Dan, have you had any congressional assistance with your case (before approval and/or after)?

I'm going to start lurking on this thread so I know what I have to look forward to when I'm approved (I'm just a masochist like that). By the way, I spoke to a caseworker in my congresswoman's office today. She said that a month's delay in processing time would be normal following a transfer (especially given the holidays), but I also told her about how the people who did get approved still haven't gotten their NVC case numbers even after two months, and she said that that could be a legitimate reason for an inquiry. So hopefully she will be able to get some insight into that.

Good luck to you all in getting your case numbers and moving through NVC quickly! I hope to be joining this club soon!

Thanks, Jennie! I think we will all be at the NVC at the same time! We got each other's backs :)

Do you think we should see additional touches on the uscis site when our petitions will be actually transferred to NVC? (i hate word "transferred" now  )

I know, I'd rather call it "forwarded" lol! I'm not sure if we will get any more updates on the USCIS website since it's going to the Dept of State. I think the only thing we will get to see is when we pay our bills online and seeing when they've been accepted.
Timosha, have you called NVC and spoken to an operator yet? I've read that a lot of times they never get around to updating the AVR system and you have to actually speak to someone to get your case number.

Sooo I figured I'd go ahead and start this thread for all of us [former] TSC hostages waiting for our NVC case #s! So far there's only been one of us that has gotten to NVC.

As for me, I spoke to an operator on 1/24/11 and she told me to wait 15 business days for the case to be received and entered in the system (that'd be around 2/4/11). So that's what's going on with me.

Hi Vj family, something happended yesterday with our petition, my husband got a letter saying that our petition is approved, however in the system it is still in acceptance and we never got any email notifiying the approval, any one with the same issue?
I am happy but I dont want to have false expectations :S

The USCIS online system is super screwed up- as long as you got the letter than you are good. Mine was approved last month and just yesterday my case status was reset to 'initial review'. They don't know what they're doing.

Guys and Gals :-) USCIS has just TOUCHED me. Feels like almost a physical emotional (for sure) touch. Our case is now back from the Post Decision Activity stage to Initial Review with the following comment:

The I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office.

What should I think of it??? And just now, while typing this, I received both a text message and an email stating the same.

Hmm.... Let it be the good news. Please.................

Me, too! I was approved on 1/14/11 and when I spoke to a Tier-2 person he just said that it was probably just a mistake.

Jenny! I thought you forgot all about me! Yes I'm still waiting for my NOA2- or God-forbid an RFE.

Last I was told, I was transferred to the CSC, although I haven't received any written confirmation.

If you were already approved why in the world would your app be sent to the CSC?

No, don't let the thought of RFEs cloud your mind!!
Were you really transferred back to CSC?? That makes no sense!
I have no idea why mine was sent to the CSC after approval- David Badger said it was their mistake! *shakes fist*. He said he would get it forwarded to the NVC and this was back on 2/16- I kinda wanna ask him what's going on but I don't wanna bug him! I think on Friday I will email him again and ask if he got it done.

Mace, the following is the basic format I used in emailing Mr. Badger:

  • Place your WAC # in the subject of the email.
  • Begin you email with a standard salutation.
  • In one sentence explain why you are writing. Include in this portion your full name and your spouse's full name.
  • In about a paragraph describe your situation- stick to facts, try not to editorialize it.
  • Now in 2 or 3 sentences mention that you are concerned because ___________________________.
  • End email with "Sincerely"
