yeah, I sent it right after I got the case number and IIN (same day my case number was processed). It probably was that I sent it too soon.

Yes, I think you sent it too soon. This is an excerpt from one of the shortcuts guides:

Even though you have an NVC number, your case information still needs to be manually input before anything else can happen.

Until such time that documents are fully loaded in, NVC will not generate or accept DS-3032 (Choice of Agent) via email or US Postal Mail.

When your case has been manually input, the DS-3032 and AOS (Affidavit of Support) fee bills will be generated.

Also, when the AOS fee bill is generated, your IIN (Invoice Identification Number) is created.

Note - it may be possible that your IIN is created when your NVC number is created...THIS is the time to begin the quest for the IIN, but when requesting, ask for Invoice ID Number, not "IIN".

Try hard; every second of your life…having your IIN will save you weeks in the process.

Your case could be input immediately or could take weeks. Remember these words "Maybe tomorrow, maybe in 4 to 6 weeks, there is no pattern".

Congrats Jenny! :) And high five! Posted Image

Thank you, my VJ friends! So I will be calling every day until I get my case #, and when I get my case # I will give the operator our email addresses and ask for the invoice ID #, right? And then do I wait for them to tell me to send the Choice of Agent form?...

Guys, I have another question- I'm looking at a sample DS-230 form and I see that on question #20 that asks about addresses, the sample form doesn't have "present" as the "to" date. For my husband he has his current address dates as "08/1995" to "Present." I thought that was the correct way to fill it out...?

I think as long as they see the face, it should be good. I don't think they're that picky Posted Image Remember, put the beneficiary's full name, date of birth, and the case number on the back of both pictures!

I hope the person looking at the photos doesn't break out their ruler or anything! Lol, yes, at this moment I am writing on the back of the photos! Saylin, you are super cool ;)

I'm not sure if they'd reject them. I also had a couple copies left over from back in August, but they were the wrong size, so I had to get new ones anyways. If you have a camera and glossy paper, you can do passport pictures by yourself. Just follow the requirements on NVC's site (http://travel.state....tml#photographs), then crop them here: http://www.epassportphoto.com/ The site puts 5 of your pictures (all 2" x 2") ready to be printed on a 4" x 6" picture paper. Super easy and completely free Posted Image

Disregard what I just said then Posted Image

Thank you for the info! The only thing about the new photo I took is that it doesn't capture to the middle of his chest- it's more like slightly above top of head to slightly below collarbone. I'm gonna take a chance and send those in- if it's a problem for NVC I will send in my older ones, I guess.

I have another question! Not surprising, right? :P So I have a bunch of copies of the passport-style photograph that my husband had made to send with the I-130. I'm reading that NVC wants the picture to be taken within the last 6 months, but that photo was taken in July of last year (when I filled out the petition). Do you think if I send another 2 copies of the same photo NVC will reject them?

Nevermind, guys, I remembered I took a new photo of him when I was over there! Whew.

Jenny, i don't even know where my old birth certificate is, so I just got another one with all the stamps on it and sent it.

Guys, I have another question (one that I have asked before but it's still bugging me lol): I have a certified copy of my husband's birth certificate- he had a new copy made because his original one is not in the best shape. The certified copy has all the stamps and everything on it but I'm worried that NVC will ask for the original one. So if you had the original, beat up one, and a brand new and clean certified copy from the dept of vital statistics from that country, which would you send?

Noo i still have it at Post Decision Activity.

I guess someone kicked the blue dot in wrong direction :bonk:
They need to learn from me how to kick that blue dot

Yeah, I think they meant to change the message to that one that says something like "your case has been re-approved and send to NVC..." (I forget the exact wording). My congressman also sent me a letter stating he had written to CSC so I am assuming his following letter will state that it has already been forwarded.
I definitely had all my bases covered.

You probably don't have to worry. The whole USCIS case status thing seems to be really glitchy.

Mine is still on post decision activity though. It was approved on 2/11, sent to NVC on 2/16... and still no case number.

Yeah, I hope it's just human error.

I wouldn't be. You got confirmation from two sources. But I'm sure you'll only believe it when you get a case number. It seems like the blue dot moves around quite a lot for all TSC refugees.

This is very true! I will be calling NVC every day next week. I pray that it gets there soon! Ahhh! Crazy times!

Since both D.B. and CSC confirmed by case was sent to NVC should I be worried that the status was reset?...

Guys, after your case was sent to NVC did your Case status reset to Initial Review? Because mine did. I just called USCIS and got escalated to a Tier-2 (first time, whee!) and he said that that's what happens after it's forwarded. Is this correct?

CSC actually replied to an email I sent earlier this week and reaffirmed the fact that my case was sent to NVC. That makes me feel better...I hope that it doesn't take a long time for the case to be entered into their systems when it finally makes it there, though.

xelance, when was your case shipped to NVC?

Hmm, well mine was sent off on the 16th, which was a week ago today (only 4 business days though) and nothing yet. I'm expecting mine to show up by the end of the week (6 or 7 business days seems like plenty!).

Yes, 6 or 7 days seems like more than enough time! I'm thinking of calling NVC next Wednesday- will the operator let me know if it's arrived to their offices (even if there's no case # assigned yet)?

I know in the Philippines, you can do an advance medical if you have the NVC letter with your case number on it. Most countries though require the interview letter.

That's what I was thinking, thanks, Saylin! Please stick around on the thread for a while longer because I will probably have many more questions about this process! I need your brain lol

In my experience, Angela has been really awesome with replying to emails (she replied less than an hour after my first email to her, and then sent me an unsolicited update 9 days later). I know some people have had to wait several days for a reply though (and maybe some people haven't heard back at all).

Yours was the case that was accidentally forwarded to CSC instead of NVC, right? When did that happen again? Maybe yours went to NVC with mine on the 16th. I hope you hear something soon!

I emailed Angela again yesterday so hopefully she replies soon!
Yes, mine was sent back to CSC. David Badger told me about this on 2/16 and I think I might email him again on Friday to see if it's been resolved. Not sure if I should except a USCIS email to confirm this, though. We shall see!

Jenny, try e-mailing Csc-NCSC-FollowUp@dhs.gov (Cali Service center) and SCOPSSCATA@dhs.gov (main operation center in DC).
I have not e-mailed those yet regarding shipping of my case to NVC yet (I'll give them till Monday) ... mine was approved in CSC on 2/15 though I had not received e-mail stating the transfer ...

Thank you for this info! I just emailed the CSC and asked if they could let me know if my case has been forwarded. So up to this point I have contacted: Congressman, D.B., A.B., & Cali! Should have my bases covered!
Thanks to all you guys who have helped me out!

David Badger was the person who told me my case was shipped and I received NOA2 hard-copy last week, stating my case was approved and shipped to NVC. I think David Badger is your best hope. What a twist of fate, those who got approval relatively early in this whole process somehow got forgotten about and are worse off than those who did not get approval until much later.

Yeah, tell me about it. Even people who were approved before me have already made it to NVC. I've stopped trying to make sense of it all.

I received an email from Angela Barrows today telling me that my petition was approved on the 11th (knew that) and was forwarded to the NVC on the 16th (didn't know that). So it looks like cases that were approved by CSC at or around the same time as mine were not shipped right away, just FYI! It was really nice of Angela to give me an update even though I hadn't asked for one since I first emailed her on the 11th.

I emailed Angela on 2/15 but she never replied- do you think she ever will? David Badger did reply (luckily)- do you know if they hold the same kind of leverage at DHS?
And yes, I am still waiting to see what's going on with my case. I'm planning on calling USCIS tomorrow and will attempt to get escalated to a Tier-2 person to see if I can get any more info on when my file will get forwarded to NVC from CSC.
When I do get to NVC I hope you all will help me with any questions I may have!!

I did neither. Since I live in Canada, we're required to do online forms, one of which is the Choice of Agent. If I didn't do the online forms though, I would have just done the email one with this template: http://www.visajourn...il_DS-3032_form

Ohhh, I see! I think I will go ahead and email it and if for some reason it doesn't go through I will mail it overnight or something. Thanks! And thanks, Jennie Ann!

You can if you want to. Just make sure they're clearly marked with one being the AOS package and the other being the DS-230 package. I've seen many people send in both in the same package and they were fine.

Saylin, did you mail your Choice of Agent form instead of emailing it? I have a signed hard copy but I was going to just email it. What do you think?
J e n n yFemaleParaguay2011-02-16 15:33:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCSC to TSC to NVC: the Saga continues

Maybe that's just for additional sheets. I would still put the case number as well though. I doubt it would hurt.

In correspondence I got from NVC, they state:

To avoid processing delays when returning documents to the National Visa Center:
Write the applicant's case number in the subject line of the e-mail when applicable, AND in the
upper right-hand corner of each page of every document.
• DO NOT send documents for ANY OTHER CASES attached to an e-mail.
• DO NOT send information for ANY OTHER CASES in the same envelope unless the NVC's
letter is attached to the front of each case's documents

Awesome, thanks! I am trying to breathe and to focus on these forms as I wait...AND my husband has yet to receive his military record. Who knew Paraguay made it such a pain to get it! Anyway, fingers crossed! David, save me!! lol

I never got that email, but am now going to email that David guy, thanks!
Also, I just got a response from NVC research:

Please be advised that the National Visa Center (NVC) has received your
inquiry and the attached I-797 Notice of Action - Approval Notice.
Unfortunately, we do not have record of receiving your approved petition
