You won't necessarily see any new dates under the "last updated" section. Not everyone gets "touched" and there is no normal amount of touches, so try not to worry about that little box. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTouched ..... Where?

We will all keep this in mind the next time you have a question.

Did you forget this is a self help site? We have many people that browse this site not wanting to join for various reasons. The idea is to provide someone with an answer in a cooperative manner. Instead of providing a rude comment, you could have just provided the link and moved on.

Obviously I know it's a self-help site. But it takes less than 5 minutes to scan back a few pages to find an answer to a question. IMHO it's incredibly lazy not to do the research yourself. That's why VisaJourney is a good self-help site...it offers more than just a forum; it has guides, wikis, and FAQs and it takes almost no effort to find them.

All I meant was I was quoting a post by you, when you were the one that told them to search better. I'm amused by the irony. That's all. Chill.

That doesn't make any sense at all. I fail to see the irony in the situation, even remotely.

Strangely enough I took it from a post made by JLovesA

;)

How is that strange? I often provide helpful links for people. What IS strange is that it generally takes me under 5 minutes to find an answer to someone's question. Why we all don't learn how to use our heads and do research is beyond me.

You just posted the exact same article I did, congratulations.

I'm sorry if you don't like the truth but it is very easy to find the answers to most questions if you do about 5 minutes of looking. In the end, it's faster for you because you don't have to wait for people to respond.

As fast as CSC move the flowers will be all dried up and in a crumbled pile before anbody even knows they received them. Then they will sit in a pile on someones desk for 4 months....

 Thanks for the laugh!

I bet when they'd finally get around to looking at the flowers, they'd send an RFE to the flower shop because the little card wasn't fully completed with the flower shop name, address, previous addresses for the last 5 years, and they forgot to sign it.

i really do hope thats the case, but it could also be that someone spilled coffee on the case and decided to look at it.
hope for the best, expect the worst.i dont blame her for her negativity, its needed in any legal process

I never said I blame her for negativity...I said there are healthier alternatives.

How you handle stress is a conscious decision and we can argue with me all day if we want. Different strokes for different folks but to me, being optimistic is a better use of my time.

And realism is necessary for any legal process, not negativity.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCR-1 instead of K-1?

How am I denying everybody's positivity? I was just saying that the VSC moves a lot faster than the CSC right now. I am not exaggerating when I say that the CSC hasn't been working on K visas. Yes, there was that one person who got an RFE, you're right. Forgive me if I didn't take that as a sure fire sign they are moving right along.

I did consider a move to the UK (I'd love to), but he has his heart set on moving here first and that's what we've decided. We plan to move there in a few years.

Fair enough, but it just seems like when everyone else is trying to remain positive, you're wallowing in self-pity. That's what I was referring to...and like I said, I know it sucks. None of us in our ideal situations but the best we can do is keep affirming the end of the journey is near.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCR-1 instead of K-1?

I wasn't discrediting their advice as it was useful, I just don't think we can compare cases in terms of "keep your chin up, it's coming!" because they were fortunate and dealt with a center that actually works.

I'm just trying to weigh other options to ease the awful state my life has become since this process began. I'm just attempting to consider different plans if there is a better way.

It may not be the end of the world, but we can't plan anything in our lives until he gets here. Everything is on hold until the CSC decides to start working again. Slow? They're dormant...

Well as I said in another thread, someone just got an RFE last week so they ARE looking at I-129F's over there.

TBH, you can't keep denying everybody's positivity. Your negativity about it seems to be eating you alive and it's no way to live. CSC is going to approve your petition soon and your fiance will be moving there sometime in the next few months. I know it's hard sitting here waiting, but the end of this is coming and shooing everyone's optimism is only making it worse for you in the meantime.
JlovesAFemaleCanada2010-10-11 18:33:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCR-1 instead of K-1?

Thanks for the responses, but you are both dealing with the VSC. The CSC is months behind and no one seems to have heard from them since August. We have no idea how long this will take. It looks like we'll be waiting long past 5 months just to get our NoA2, let alone the interview. If we were registered with Vermont I'd be more than happy to wait my turn, but California is awful.

Just because they went through VSC doesn't discredit their advice. They are right...if you cancel your K1 in January (and I think the odds are low you won't have received the NOA2 by then), you have just wasted all that time and you are putting yourself at the back of the line again, and must wait for a visa that actually takes longer than the K1. So would you rather him move next spring or like, fall-winter 2011?

My advice? Count your blessing that you can actually visit each other. Some people can't. And be glad that once you get the NOA2 you have a relatively short wait. I think your NOA1 is 1 day after me but because I'm going through Montreal and you're (I think) going through London, your fiance will be in the USA way before I'll get there. So try to calm down and realize this isn't the end of the world...yes CSC has been slow but I have hope they'll start approving people again soon.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTravelling during the Visa Process

R&V,
Did you visit twice while your K-1 was being processed? If so, how long was your first visit? And how long did you wait till the subsequent visit(s)?

The problem for my fiance is that she will have to quit her job in order to visit me for 3 months :( And she doesn't have an apartment.

JlovesA,
Does that mean that she doesn't have to mention that she will be staying with her fiance?

I don't think it's a good idea to lie, TBH. Because if she gets pulled into secondary and questioned, the truth will come out and lying looks very bad.

As long as she can confirm she has a job and some ties to her country, I wouldn't worry. People here tend to make a big fuss out of it, but lots of people visit the USA without problems. I myself live 80 miles from my fiance and CBP doesn't bother me much. I do admit I refer to him as my "boyfriend" (I don't have a ring that proves otherwise). They ask, "Where do you work?" I tell them and the next thing out of their mouth is "Have a nice trip." So really...try not to worry too much about it. Short, truthful answers work best.

Oh I just noticed you said she has to quit. Does she need to visit you for 3 months? Is there anything that will show she needs to return? I use my gym membership, my car lease, and the NOA1 as ties but I've never been asked for them.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTravelling during the Visa Process
I just wanted to chime in about whether CBP knows they have a petition. I have never ever heard anyone on here say they were turned away because CBP knew about the petition. Also, it doesn't make sense that they could know because you don't provide your passport # during the original application, so when they scan your passport, it's not like it's been linked to USCIS.

Who knows though...I've never heard an official answer.

Your status in the USA has nothing to do with the requirements for being allowed in another country.

The answer is, yes, you can go to Canada. However, it is extremely unlikely you will be let back into the USA if you haven't received AP or a green card yet.

The bottom line is DON'T LEAVE THE USA.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat was the hardest part of the process??
My experience with this is way different than most people because I see my fiance frequently. So for me, the hardest part is the nerve-wracking inspections at customs (when I go to visit him in Michigan). I haven't had any problems (knock on wood) but it still gets me shaking with nerves every time.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAnother annoying question =)

Hello everyone, i know my question is not related to the topic, here are my questions?
1-how can i find out whether my case is touched or not?
2- we got our Noa 1 on aug 7 but still waiting for NOA2 , should we be worried ?
P.s i think YGR can help me , it sounds they have good information, thanks

1- Read this link, it'll tell you how. http://www.visajourn...dex.php/Touched

2- No, early June filers are JUST receiving their approvals last week and this week. So you probably have another 2 months to go.

In the future, please post separate questions in your own thread. Taking over (or high-jacking as ygr called it) is considered rude.

Haha yeah, I think everyone feels like that when they're first figuring it out. It took me a few reads of everything on this website related to the K1 before I finally understood it all. Make sure you read the guides, wiki (click the link at the top, then click "show all pages" and read the ones you find relevant), and the FAQs. Then read them again, and again. And then you should be good to go. :)

Your fiancee will need to be making at least 125% of the established poverty line for however big her family size is (you said she's a mom) + you. So if she has 1 kid, she needs to make 125% of the poverty line for a family of 3.

She and you should read this, which explains it better: http://www.visajourn...content/support

I'm not an expert either but the way I did it is to go into my profile and write it letter by letter in "my signature". To make it look nice you can add spaces and/or punctuation. Maybe there is a better to do it and I'm just an ignorant.

Nope, you got it right. I'm pretty sure that's the only way to do it, actually.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMarriage license requirements for K-1 holders

Hi all,

I am a K-1 visa holder (successfully had my interview last week at the Embassy in Athens) and will soon (mid-May) travel to the US to marry my fiancee. The wedding will be early June in St. Louis County (MO). I had a question regarding the documents I need to bring with me in order to obtain the marriage license in St. Louis County.

I know this isn't related exactly to the topic of the post, but you are aware that you only have 6 months to move with the visa, right? Unless you are planning to have the embassy issue the visa in December, May is well-past the 6 month date from last week and your visa will not be valid any longer. Just wanted to make sure in case that throws a wrench in your plans (I sure hope not).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPreparing for Interview

I wouldn't worry about it either. The interview is really easy. We were asked simple questions like "when did you meet? what is your job?" - basic stuff. My impression was that the interview was more of a formality. I think they're just making sure everything is in order, not looking for a reason to deny you.

We Canadians are pretty lucky for that!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOn our way and I already screwed up!!

All it took was a simple phone call. No need to freak out. This is most likely the most stressful thing many of us have gone through. If we can't laugh about the little things, we'll never survive to the end.

And yeah, what were they thinking? Or how closely do they even look at the very beginning?? hmmmmmmm

I know, whoever it was refused to believe that because the case number didn't work on uscis.gov, that his file had been forgotten. I'm pretty sure the USCIS reps were able to see his file, though. I think some people just aren't "all there" and because this can be confusing, they freak out about everything. Seriously, you will learn to take people here with a grain of salt because there's some real weird cats here.

It's good you have a good attitude about it going in...it's too long and stressful by default to get insane over.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOn our way and I already screwed up!!

I did include the entire number including WAC and it doesnt show up. The USCIS didnt seem to worried about it. And since they seemed to find it in their system when I wanted to change his birthdate, I'm not real worried either.

Yes, it did actually say 2/16/2010 on the hard copy!!! I'm laughing about it now. I'm definitely saving it. I've always been teased because Colin is younger. My friends will get a real kick out of this.

Maybe give it a few more days, as the number was probably just created. As long as they pull it up on their end, you've got nothing to be worried about. There was a person here awhile back who was freaking out about his number not working online and assuming his petition had gotten thrown in the trash or something.

I wonder what the USCIS employee was thinking when they entered the 2010 birthday!!!!

So you have the NOA1 and the receipt number doesn't work on the USCIS site? You did include the full number, including the WAC part, right?

If it still doesn't work, I wouldn't freak out too much. I've heard of other people here whose cases never showed up on uscis.gov. That system isn't 100% reliable anyway.

Oh and did USCIS actually send the NOA1 with the 2010 birthday? Lololol
