Thanks a lot! :) You too, God bless you both and happy trip! :)

I've been calling the English direct line number of the Japan Embassy in Manila but no one picks up the phone or someone picks up but doesn't say anything and all I hear is background office noise!

Did you have the same experience?

Hey sis! Finally! after 66 days, i got my japanese police certificate :) just kinda curious about that date, 2013.11.07 :/ i already sent it to 2Go along with my passport :)

I think that means it was mailed from Japan on November 7 and took about a month to get here and through postal processing.

But anyway, good for you and hoping mine gets here soon!

Day 62: no Japanese police clearance yet mad.gif  geez. the lady in Jap. Embassy said that they receive documents from japan every tuesday and thursday. This is really getting annoying. They said it is usually just 45-60 days processing only. :/

Oh wow! That is annoying! Maybe you should be calling the Japan embassy 2x a week now. Good luck!

Last October 7, 2013, i went to Japan Embassy Manila to request for my Japan Police Certificate since like you, i've lived in Japan for almost 3 years as well. Based on my experience, when the japanese lady in the window called me, i just told her that i will request for police clearance then she gave me instructions to go to Camp Crame to get my finger prints done. She didn't asked me for any letter from the US Embassy. But just in case, bring your photocopy of your NOA1 or any documents that will prove you are currently applying for K-1 Visa. You should have your 1x1 or 2x2 photo for your finger prints. So now, i am still waiting for it. they said it will be 2-3 months til you get your police clearance but a lot here says that its just 1 month to 1 1/2 month.

Hi friend, have you received your police clearance yet?

1.5 months since filing for police clearance and yet Japan embassy still doesn't have it? That's too bad. Lots of luck on your upcoming interview. Maybe the USEM will just ask you to submit the clearance once you get it.

Just got done filing for the Japan police clearance. The form says to wait for 2-3 months but the Japanese woman at the counter told me it should be ready within 2 months. And you are right that one 2x2 OR 1x1 photo is required by Camp Crame for fingerprinting.

Thanks for the advice/info!

My fiancee did this back in May of this year. She just showed the NOA 1 and told the embassy staff that she was applying for a US visa. She didn't have any issues with the embassy staff, but it took about 9 weeks for the certificate to come. I would recommend trying to get it now so you aren't waiting for it after you get the NOA 2. I hope this helps.

@OCCMarine

Thank you for your reply. When you mention embassy staff, do you mean US Embassy staff or Japan Embassy staff?

So did the US Embassy issue a request letter to the Japan embassy for police certificate of your fiancé when your fiancé went to the US Embassy with just the NOA1 copy in hand? Or did your fiancé go directly to the Japan embassy with just the NOA1 copy to request the police certificate?

Again, thanks in advance for your reply.

PhilippinesJapan Police Certificate
I need to get a police clearance from the Japan Embassy in Manila for the K-1 visa since I lived there for more than 6 months in the past.

I've been reading older threads on VJ on this precise topic. Some say I would need to go to the US Embassy, present my copy of NOA2 and MNL case # to Window X, then ask the embassy to issue a request letter for the Japanese police certificate. Others say a copy of NOA1 and the I-129F packet sent to USCIS are enough.

Does anyone have the latest info on how to obtain the police clearance from the Japan embassy? I'm still waiting for my NOA2, but we have the copy of NOA1 and we sent our reply to the RFE via DHL last 28 October 2013. I want to be proactive about the process hence my inquiry.

Thanks for any reply!

You only need the most recent tax return/transcript, which currently is 2012.  The embassy does not ask for additional years tax returns, and will not accept them if you try to give them to the CO.

For the I-134 affidavit support, we don't have W-2 but we have tax transcripts from the IRS for 2012 (latest tax year) going back to 2009.

The tax transcript contains the wage indicated on the W-2 plus other capital gains from assets. So is it OK to just present the tax transcript to the consular officers, since this shows al income and not just income from wages (W-2)? Thanks for any input.

Hi, yes, my NBI clearance was released early enough for my interview. Interestingly enough, I learned why my name had a 'hit' when I got interviewed at Quality Control. It seems my namesake owned a bar or beerhouse and that person had criminal cases involving prostitution and white slavery. Crazy!! I had to sign an affidavit at quality control stating that I am not that person because I didn't own a beerhouse.

I am extremely irritated that I got caught in the migration of NBI data from their old provider to their new system. My lining up for payment, encoding and biometrics at the NBI satellite office at the mall last December 20 was useless because it does not appear in their 'new' computerized system!!!

Went to NBI Manila main office yesterday. There were thousands of people sitting in line, waiting...waiting...waiting. There was no line at all at releasing, but the lines for encoding and biometrics stretched over several floors!

The government made a mistake migrating the data between computer systems without doing a study on the effects. Typical!

My question is this. This is the line for applying for NBI clearance at the main office on Taft Ave. in Manila. Is there a separate, hopefully shorter line, for those going for releasing already?

I had to wait 3 weeks for mine but if you have proof that you need the NBI Clearance asap, you can talk to the head and have it processed faster. Although I see your interview is still Feb. so they might say you don't need it to be expedited.

I'll be picking up my NBI clearance end of this week and my interview is still in Feb 2014. I think I'll make it!

The reason it's being 'expedited' is because NBI will be doing computer system maintenance and they need to release by 27 December all clearance applications submitted by 20 December. That's what the guy doing the biometric fingerprint scan told me anyway.

The quickest way is to go to the main office of the NBI in Manila on Taft Ave. That's where all the other office's will query for your results. Bring any all documents that have proof of your name, birth and parents names. If you get a hit it may take 2-3 weeks to sort out everything. I'm speaking from my Fiancé experience in just the past 6 months. She had visited NBI in Pagadien and Manila 3 times each till she got her named clear. Her issue aren't the same as what you are describing but just the same yours will very from everyone else.

So 3x visit each to NBI Pagadian and Manila? That sounds like a lot of effort for a clear record?

I might have a 'hit' on my name when applying for NBI clearance. That is, there are other people with the same name as mine but most likely a different birth date and different birth place.

Does anyone know how long it will take for me to obtain the NBI clearance in this case? I will be filing for the clearance through the NBI satellite offices in Metro Manila's malls.

The last time I applied for the NBI clearance was in 2004 or 2005 for a job, and the regional NBI office in Baguio took 3 weeks to process the application! I was told it was because other people have my name too and everything had to be coursed through the NBI office in Manila and the Baguio office wasn't computerized then.

Thank you for any helpful replies.

When they say ''delivery', does this mean delivery to my mailing address? I specifically stated online (I think when I scheduled the interview) that I want to pick up my passport at a 2Go mall office, so why do they mention 'delivery'? I was asked about 'delivery' too by the Filipino USEM staff at window 72 (where I was instructed to go after my interview with the American consul). And when I mentioned to the a Filipino staff that I chose pick-up, he didn't respond. So I'm kinda confused.

Illegal immigration will always be a current issue, the date of the OP's post notwithstanding. Yes, hopefully the seaman made the right choice to come home. If he had the chance to adjust status (such as satisfying 245(i)), we wouldn't be hearing about this story of 15 years being illegal.

I guess it would be more accurate to label it as a renewal of passport or treated as an application for a new passport? I won't presume to know how the Philippines embassy in the USA would treat this matter.

But when I was in the USA before and had to renew my passport at the Philippines embassy in Chicago, they made me courier my old passport.

Plus, I fail to see how this is any of the OP's business style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/rolleyes.gif
It's not unusal for Filipinos to help a fellow Filipino in dire straits.

To OP, here are some info from the Philippine Consulate website in LA.

http://www.philippin...passport.htm#P2

I am an undocumented Philippine citizen (TNT). Can I apply for a passport? Will the Consulate help me?
The Consulate helps and protects ALL Filipinos, regardless of their immigration status. A Filipino who has no legal immigration status in the United States deserves the same assistance as that accorded to a legal resident.

How does the Consulate deal with cases involving assumed names, or in the case of seamen who jump ship?
Cases involving assumed names, and cases involving seamen who jump ship, are treated in the same way as lost passport.

What are the requirements for the replacement of a lost passport?
Lost passports can only be replaced when the consular officer can determine that, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements for a Philippine passport, that the applicant has actually lost his or her passport.
The documentary requirements for the replacement of a lost passport are essentially the same as for a first time application. Additional supporting documents may also be required to establish the applicant's identity, Philippine citizenship, and the circumstances surrounding the loss of the passport.

In addition to the documentary requirements, the Consulate General has to receive clearance from the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila to replace a lost passport. Due to the significant volume of such cases, the mandatory waiting period for the clearance normally takes 15 working days (3 to 4 weeks - do not count Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays) and another six (6) weeks will be required for the issuance of the new passport.
A comprehensive list of requirements may be found in this site.

I find it strange how a seaman who jumped ship is treated as someone who lost his passport even if he might actually have his expired passport.

PhilippinesHow to check if St. Luke's sent medical result to USEM?
Thanks for the vote of confidence but I'm tense as long as I don't have the visa packet yet and with all this stuff I read about CFO requiring the visa packet itself and all other kinds of nonsense, I can understand why there are so many CFO threads, LOL!
sjk&cjjNot TellingPhilippines2014-02-22 23:34:00
PhilippinesHow to check if St. Luke's sent medical result to USEM?
I had my medical started on Monday, Feb 10. I finished everything on that day except the immunizations, which they wouldn't give me until I saw their psychiatrist.

During the physical check-up by the SLEC doctor, I admitted that I saw a therapist 2-3 times in 2010 for depression. This is because my then-partner (and now fiancé) was going back to the USA, which would have meant less times we could see each other, having to Skype and email or call on the phone with a significant time zone difference to deal with and other issues associated with a long distance relationship. Plus I had family problems that flared up that year which convinced me to see a therapist if only to vent or talk it out with someone.

So I was made to come back to SLEC on Wednesday, Feb 12, by the nurses at Room N and told to present a medical certificate from the therapist I saw in 2010. However, I don't recall the therapist's name since it was walk-in and got randomly assigned to one so that's what I told the nurse when I came back on Feb 12. Then I received an appointment to come back again on Friday, Feb 14 to be interviewed by SLEC's psychiatrist.

I went back and got interviewed by the psychiatrist on Feb 14. I passed that and was told to come back again on Monday, Feb 17, for immunizations. I got the immunizations sheet and X-ray CD after 6 PM! I informed the nurse at releasing if they will transmit my medical results to the embassy in time for my embassy interview on the 18th (the following morning!) and she said it will be transmitted as part of the second batch around 9 AM of the 18th.

I get interviewed by the American consul on the 18th, I have all the requirements, documents and forms and apparently passed the interview but he said they're still waiting for my medical but that I shouldn't worry because St. Luke's is sometimes delayed in sending the medical results. I was told the exact same thing by the Filipino staff at the releasing window (window 72) who also told me that 2Go will text me when my passport and packet are ready for pick-up.

I've been checking the CEAC website and I've noticed that my status was touched or updated on the 19th, 20th and 21st even though it still says Administrative Processing.

We want to verify if SLEC sent in my medical results as they promised. If I go to their clinic, what do I show the guard? I don't have the medical receipt, which is what I used to show the guard as proof that I have an appointment. Also, who do I talk to over there? Staff at the releasing counters on the ground floor? The uncertainty is driving us nuts and we just want some confirmation that SLEC transmitted the medical results like they promised they would last Feb 18.

PhilippinesK-1 travel from Guam to US Mainland

Yup Guam is a U.S. territory, anyone born in Guam is a U.S. citizen.
Yup Russians can enter Guam without a visa, but they won't be allowed in the USA proper.

http://www.cbp.gov/x.../01262012_2.xml

Did your fiance have a green card at the time?    CBP required my wife to have her passport just traveling from Tombstone AZ to Tucson AZ until she got her green card.

Perhaps it's due to border patrol having authority at the border and 100 miles from the border, if I'm not mistaken.

My fiancé is a natural born US citizen yet had to show a US passport when traveling from Guam to San Francisco. This was just last January 2014.

Have a great trip

Is this really true? Russians have visa-free entry to Guam, if I am not mistaken. How do they prevent Russians without US visas from entering the US via Guam without an immigration check and passport control? My fiancé had to show a US passport to fly from Guam to San Francisco just this January 2014.

You only need to worry if you have criminal cases filed against you that led to your conviction or if you have open, unresolved cases.

I had to go through Quality Control at the NBI Manila main office. I had a namesake who had criminal cases filed against that person. I was made to sign an affidavit stating that I was not the same person and that
I did not commit those crimes of which the other person was accused of.

Right after giving the investigators that affidavit, I had my NBI clearance (no derogatory record) printed right next door to Quality Control.
