Mexico, Latin & South America	A little cooking help from my Brasilian friends	e.. ontem fui no mercado so pra ver essa estoria toda... e achei o table cream que igualzinha a lata do nosso creme de leite... o sour cream que ja conheco e e realmente o nosso creme azedo...e tem o heavy cream que ainda nao testei... migoquinha ta certa Verdade, mas o creme de leite em lata dá pra ser usado em receitas quentes se for acrescentado por último e não deixar ferver. Sour cream is just our "creme azedo", which is not too popular in Brasil. Creme de leite is just one of the two: or the version in the can (table cream), or the fresh one called heavy cream... Condensed Milk is called Leite Condensado in portuguese, not Creme de Leite. Oh, btw.... you and your fiance can always check this thread: http://www.visajourn...showtopic=39133 The girls always post very useful information that would help you find the right ingredients in the US! Right on Mrs Knight!!! Creme de leite is table cream and usually you'll find it in the mexican section of the grocery, with the sweetened condensed milk (leite condensado) and both are from Nestlé just like we have in Brasil... Don't remember what they said about quality or safety, but I remember them saying that it was a very short walk to the Consulate. Actually, I stayed at Monte Castelo too and didn't walk (you can if you want but will take 30 min), I got a cab for R$10 roundtrip to the consulate. It's a residential neighbourhood. I have probably sent money once a month since October 2006 and have not had any problems. The money comes straight out of my bank account and straight into hers. The charge is based on how much money you send...but usually between $5-$8. The exchange rate is close to what I find elsewhere. Morrendo de saudades do Braza e fazendo os planos pra finalmente ir pra terrinha no ano q vem (já tem quase 2 anos!). Trabalho já caiu na mesmice e no challenges @ all, so I'm looking to get outta of there! Começou a nevar aki esta semana e nevou este final de semana inteirinho... Como se não bastasse estar super difícil pra dirigir, começou a chover agora a noite pra fazer akela camadinha básica de gelo pra todo mundo brincar de "bate-bate". Já falei pro Marc q amanhã ele me leva pra trabalhar, isso se não soltarem akeles alarmes vermelhos... Tava lendo a receita dakele bolo de mandioca da Nessa e vou ter q achar um aipim pra fazer akilo viu? AMO! Tb preciso comprar a farofinha básica pro Natal e uns Panetones e Chocotones. Bom, como vcs podem imaginar, minha dieta foi pras cucuias... NOT! Ainda continuo, mas o final de semana de 4 dias do Thxgiving me deu de presente 2 lindos kilos, e provavelmente vou adicionar mais 2 pro Natal e Ano Novo pois pra mim são datas q eu nao faço dieta mesmo! Let's face the truth here: you commited fraud in the first place when you didn't mention David on the tourist visa interview. I'm really trying to figure something out and I don't have too much information from you, but I have read a lot about this subject before. As far as I can see, seems you don't have too much 'na sua manga' to show to the consulate, and I really think that your only option now would be to tell the truth to the consulate (eg. you were afraid to not get the visa, and thats why you didn't mention him). I hope that in your K1 visa application, you didn't show USCIS that David lived in Brasil with you, prior to the tourist visa interview. Did you? What my understanding is, that if you have lied to them, the only way for them to forgive you, is by saying the truth for them and praying to them to understand what happened and give you a second chance. I was very sad when I read your post and I'm trying to help instead just being nice. I suggest for you to have David find a good lawyer and have 1-hour consultation to see what they say. Mexico, Latin & South America	Feijoada, etc	The butcher at my locals Sam's club cut Picanha for me. It came out perfect. Here's what they need to know (any butcher should be able to do this for you): Picanha is the top part of the top sirloin sometimes called cullote or top sirloin fat cap. Each piece weighs about 3 to 4 pounds. Ask your butcher to trim the bottom and leave the fat from the top of the cut. Thanks alooooooooooooooooooooooooooot Richard!!! You dont have a clue how much I searched for this info!!! Really, really, thanks alot!!! Im going to the grocery tomorrow to ask the butcher to cut it for me!!! Put some garlic and sea salt on it, and right on in the charcoal barbecue!!! Of course, with some rice, 'farofa' and 'vinagrete' as side dishes. Carol - My fiance is in Campo Grande right now getting her Passport, and Police Documents. When I speak to her (most likely within the hour) I'm going to ask that she find out the name of the company I had seen when I was there that exports the stuff. Thanks Erik!!! I used that company I mentioned above to buy the stuff for my feijoada 2 weeks ago. Of course they gave me a closest retail store (3 hours from here) and I needed to pay the shipping too. It was way too expensive: around $100 for the stuff and more $30 for UPS. I think I will never make another feijoada here again!!! Damn, I wish I could live around NJ, NY or MA... Mexico, Latin & South America	Feijoada, etc	Speaking of Churrasco... When I was down there visiting my Fiance recently, we went to her neighboring city of Campo Grande, MS. We passed by a place where her cousin said they export Churrasco all over the world... I don't recall the name of the place. Anyone know where someone could buy some here in the States? Online etc. I'm sure it won't be as cheap as it was in Mato Grosso do Sul, but I would love to treat my Fiance to some back home Churrasco every now and again, so if anyone knows I would appreciate it greatly! Erik If you find a place like that, let me know, because I just cannot find a place that gives me the "Picanha" cut.
