I was suppose to reply to a comment that has been removed.

Anyways, I just wanted to say that I really didn't appreciate the foreigners attacking/insulting us filipinas. The thing is that we can't change the way they see us. I think the only thing we can do is to prove to them that they are NOT any better than us. I don't believe that keeping quiet and avoiding arguments is the way to do it, especially if they are insulting our race. While I believe that we have to choose our own battles, I also believe that if someone pick a fight, we have the right to defend ourselves but of course, we should make sure that we're fighting in the best way we can and not dragging ourselves into the mud. Let's not reply to them them the way they are responding to us here. We can do so much better than that.

And yes, Filipinas make the best wives!!! Why? Because I and the filipinas and their spouses said so and even if others strongly disagree, I don't care! We're entitled to our own opinions and that is something they should learn to respect and get over with. Let us also respect their right to claim that their nationalities are the best. Let us not attack/insult people who don't agree with us and who are attacking/insulting us. Otherwise, we won't be any different from them at all.

filipinas is a race? really? a culture yes ... an nationality yes ..

Here we go again with the filipinas make the best wives. wow ... just wow ... blink.gif

Yeah, here we go again. This argument never ends. I wonder when? Just sick and tired I guess.

Let's just put it this way, IF based on OP's statistics, more foreigners in VJ prefer Filipinas

One of the reason is that:

Filipinas speak English much better compare to other countries like China,Thailand, Vietnamese,Columbia etc etc.

Better than Canadians?

Don't single out Filipinas por favor. There are other women from other countries in Visa Journey married to fat, ugly and old Americans and there are men from other countries married to fat, old and ugly Americans. Why, I just saw one ugly couple yesterday in Wal-Mart. The guy is in 70's and the Chinese girl is like 18 years old and they were kissing at the check out counter. And my friend Joanne (she's white) said, "Hey, Marie! Look at that odd couple. Yuck!

I've got to ask, because some one has to do it, why are the Philippines so apparently overrepresented on VJ in terms of K-1 beneficiaries? I understand that the country makes up somewhere around 1.37% of the world population, but my sense is that somewhere around 75% of the k-1 beneficiaries on this site are from the Philippines. What gives?

Because of the internet, silly. West meets east because of the internet. It so happens that the charming and sweet wives are from the East.

Getting SSN prior to getting married cuts both ways. I did get mine before I got married. That is if you don't mind making another trip to the SSN office to have your name changed. yes.gif But if you want to open a bank account, you don't need to show them (the bank) your SSN. Two valid IDs will do.

are you allowed to come back to PI after 1 year if you entered as K1? I thought you have to wait around 2 years before you can travel outside US... just wondering

As long as you have the green card, you can come back to the Philippines anytime.

Hi, what kind of wedding do you prefer? If it`s Court Wedding, that`s easy as long as you already applied for your marriage license prior to your wedding date. About Wedding Traditions I don`t know much about the traditions here in USA, but one thing I heard from my husband before we had our Church Wedding. Fiance should not see the wedding dress of the bride to be prior to the ceremony because it brings bad luck to the marriage.

We got married in the Catholic church here in MI, we undergo several seminars such as Marriage is a Decision, Marriage Counselling and we also had our NFP(Natural Family Planning) that`s take place under our parish priest instruction. Then lastly, before the wedding ceremony we had our Rehearsal Dinner; that`s the so called Wedding Rehearsal in the Church, then after we gathered together had our dinner and a simple party. Other details in the wedding party, the slicing of cake which symbolizes the sweetness of the couple, toasting of wine and they also use garter here that should be put on the thigh of the bride, lastly the throwing of wedding bouquet almost the same in the philippines.

In our wedding we put a so called " wedding box" it`s one of the tradition here , guests are not giving boxes of gifts instead they are giving wedding card with their wishes and prayer with their little gifts inside probably in terms of check (gift check, or cash inside the card)to help the newly wed financially.

I hope this help you in your wedding plans. Congratulations and Best wishes to both of you. Godspeed!

(next time pls.post in English please so you can get more help)thanks! TC

She is on Cebu, and reads, work's out, cleans the house, etc. to try and stay busy, but she is beginning to get very bored with the same old day-in and day-out routine there.

I won't tolerate Filipina bashing. I hope none of you will tolerate it either. Filipinas have done nothing to deserve that kind of treatment.

Filipinas were not bragging about themselves on the thread that was just locked. It was their husbands or fiancés who were commenting on how Filipinas are the best. They mainly did that in response to some posters who attacked Filipinas.

I'm proud that Filipinas defend themselves, and I'm proud of the men who have their back. You guys rock!

Standing up against bigotry, stereotyping, and prejudice is the right thing to do because those attitudes have no place in VJ nor in life. The world will not be a better place if these issues go unchallenged.

There almost certainly will be another thread that bashes Filipinas. The next time it happens, I hope a VJ moderator will close it down quickly. If they don't close it, we have every right (and an obligation) to defend ourselves and our loved ones.

Yes,just simply ignore cuz they are JEALOUS to see approvals of many filipinos almost every week,we hear good news.

De javu! I remember Mariel when she was still a newbie. Kinda made this similar post. Where are you Mariel?

I agree with this. I think there are 3 kinds of people who loves provoking people.
1. insecure/jealous one
2. ignorant
3. the person who just wants to provoke someone to test his character. Believe it or not, they do exist.

I think it's easy to determine no. 1. They are usually the bitter ones. I don't think there's anything we can do about it anymore.

Number 2 are those people who are clueless of what are they saying. Based on what I've read about the reactions and responses here, I'm sure some of you think I belong in that category. Though I know for myself that I'm not.

Anyways, I think the 3rd one is the most difficult to determine because he can act like type 1 and 2.

Also, as much as possible, avoid insulting/attacking people while responding to attacks since that will make you no better than the person attacking/insulting you.

The highlighted sentence is pure nonsense. You are obligated to retribute if you have been insulted and attacked. Did Gabriela Silang, my fellow Ilocana, just sleep on her couch when the treacherous colonists were rampaging Northern Luzon with their atrocious acts? No, sir! For only a wimp or a woman who talks or writes a lot, but without any real action, would refuse to fight back. So, I suggest that you get armed and ready and cut down on your essays as it's getting to be boring and monotonous! good.gif

Speaking like a real Ilocana, Gabriela Silang will never sit back and watch from the sidelines while the enemies attack Northern Luzon.

To my fellow filipinas,

I know you don't know me...I'm a newbie here in VJ. I've only signed up last week. Though even before my fiance and I decided to start the visa process, I have been frequently browsing the VJ website, especially the Philippines Regional Forum.

I just want to raise some concerns based on my observations and what I've read since I've learned about this website. And I'm sure what I'm going to say will raise brows of many of you. And you will criticize me for meddling and for being mahadera (sorry, I don't know the english word for that). But I think it would be better if this will come from a concern filipina, rather than from an insulting person from other nationality...

Anyways, here it goes:

I've noticed that filipinas have 5 ways of responding to insults/attacks to filipinas in general:
1. Dedma/No reaction
2. Raising your own chair/Justifying that you're different from others.
3. Saying to those people insulting us what they want to hear/giving them the satisfaction
4. Insulting/Attacking back.
5. Responding nicely

I respect your choices of responding to attacks. But I want to remind you that it's alright to fight back if someone picks a fight as long as you're not dragging yourself into the mud. Also, as much as possible, avoid insulting/attacking people while responding to attacks since that will make you no better than the person attacking/insulting you.

Wherever we are, whatever we do, whoever we are with, at the end of the day, we're still filipinas. Our actions and words don't only reflect ourselves but also our being filipinas. In this website where other people are being critical about us, I think we should learn to be more conscious of what we post or what we say and how we say it especially because even if we are in a regional forum of our home country, other nationalites can still access it.

Also, there was this thread before that I've read before I joined VJ in which the word filipinas was mentioned and it was said that we love creating non-sense threads. The thing is, looking at the regional forum, I believe they do have basis for saying that. The funny thing is that the discussion is usually longer in non-sense threads, rather than those threads with sensible topics.

As I've said earlier, I'll probably get so many criticisms after posting this or no one might even bother to reply to this post. But I just really want to raise this concern. In this website, people don't see us, and they don't know what we do, or how we are as a person, it's easy for them to judge us based on what they see and read in this website. If we'll be more conscious of what we say and how we say it and engage in more sensible topics, I believe that's the only way we can show others that they are not any better than us or that we are so much better than what they think of us.

I'm sure we're all are aware that some people have little (or even no) respect to filipinas in general. Let's admit it, some reasons for that are really valid. There are really few filipinas who managed to tarnish our reputation. But I won't go into details...The thing is, wouldn't it be better if we'll gain the respect of everyone and if they will realize that filipinas are indeed not just about a pack of scammers/gold diggers/uneducated/nonsense people wanting to better their lives?

I'm not perfect. I have my own lapses and I also have some issues especially expressing myself (I'm sure you've noticed that in my posts in other threads).

I'm saying this not to insult us filipinas, but for us to have a conscious effort to try to better ourselves and our reputation not just as individual but as filipinas.

To make that change, it has to start somewhere. I believe we can start it here.

Please take note that I created this thread as a constructive criticism, not to offend anyone. This doesn't change the fact that Filipinas are great women, with loving and caring hearts, though sometimes misinterpreted/misunderstood by others.
To the foreigners who might want to reply, you're welcome if you have good inputs and as long as you're not attacking/insulting us, otherwise, please forget it.

Thanks...

I appreciate the unsolicited advice coming from a newbie like you. Great thinking and very keen observation you got there with you. These issues about Filipinas singled out, zeroed in, stereotyped as scammers, gold diggers has been discussed and argued about since time immemorial and everytime a non-Filipino member gives his two cents worth, in the negative of course, about Filipinas, why human nature dictates us to be on the defense side and thus, we resort to retribution. We can't let them add insult to injury, so to speak.

okay first up,ma'am what is it you really want? to be with someone or just come to the US? don't get me wrong but it sounds like you're desperate to come to the US and you'll do anything for visa. and USEM will know about this, coz they have records. and if you really love your EX-fiancee then you should have waited. TRUE LOVE WAITS. so ma'am, sorry but you're story is kinda obvious and this is very embarrassing. this is sick. this is one of the reasons why other country thinks filipinas are gold digger. tsk tsk.and does youre hubby now knows about this? i bet he does not know. cause if he did he would be bothered by it.hmm? whistling.gif okay ill shut up now. .... whistling.gif this is absurd. really really absurd. still goodluck with youre visa application. innocent.gif

where are you now?

If you are in the US, then you could not be married to someone else except your petitioner.

You can marry someone else if you go to the US, you just can't adjust status and must go back before the 90 days.

If we are talking about K1 visa here, then she could not be married to someone else except the petitioner. If she married someone else...trash the K1 visa. And i think she was talking about the K1 visa... wink.gif

But she is a fast worker.... Have lot of male resources just to get to the US. devil.gif

hello vjers ,

Is form 1040 , will be enough as proof of financial capacity by petitioner or does petitioner need to have a copy of W2 or 1099 ? I am asking bcoz hubby doesnt have copies of form W2 nor 1099 , he only have form 1040 , as he send these forms to his accountant ,who prepares his income tax return. So, I told him to call IRS and ask for transcript of federal tax returns of the past 3 years ; I have asked my hubby to gather tax returns now before letter from NVC arrives ;

Thank you guys .

Tax return (form 1040) by itself is not enough - it must be accompanied by any/all supporting documents (such as W-2, 1099's etc). If a sponsor does not have these supporting documents then I would suggest ordering (free) IRS Tax Transcripts which contain all the necessary 'supporting document's' information.

Do not submit tax returns with no supporting documents - it is certain RFE/delay.

Thank you . All the best to you both.

when i had my interview we only had 2 yrs of 1040. my husband is self-employed so i guess he doesnt need the W-2... plus the I134 and letter from the bank. thats our supporting docs (financial side)
good luck in your interview! good.gif

Yeah. If your husband is self-employed, he doesn't need the form W2. Just show them the form 1040.
