Don't worry about it. your husband probably know everything on how to work your papers here. you will be super busy on your first month here in US.

Wrong! Not all husband's knows what to do next or what paper works that you're gonna prepare again, one of them was mine, when I told him what I have read here in VJ he ask some more proof of sites or where did the members get the infos so i research more and sent him the USCIS site where it talks about AOS ang stuff like that. \

Enjoy first but don't forget to do what you have to do that won't jeopardize your stay here in the US. HAPPY TRIP!!!!

It's a good thing the husband knew what he was doing or else, I would have been clueless about what to do after arriving in the US. He was the one who helped me with my AOS paper work. Funny, but we found out about Visa Journey after we got my green card. star_smile.gif

OK,
My fiancee has completed and passed her medical exam twice and completed her interview last week.
the case is being returned to USCIS for "review".

we are not married, but

If I go to Philippines next month and get married, will this help or hurt our petition for K1 ?

I am thinking of calling USCIS and withdrawing our K1 application, getting married and filing a brand new case for K3.

any thoughts?

thanks !

PhilippinesWhat if your girl is at the bottom of the Philippines
QUOTE (Filipina Lover @ Jul 8 2009, 06:22 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Thanks for the answers, normally I wouldn't care about the cost of anything, but since I just did all of this and spent about $10,000 and then lost my girl, now I need to be careful, try to save if I can. Now I am worried, what if the next girl changes her mind at the last minute. I just can't believe that happened, did all the immigration stuff, got the plane ticket, everything arranged, all ready to fly here and then changes her mind. Weird, one day it's total love for me, and the next I am nobody.

You have to take a chance on this next girl you found. Who knows? Maybe she won't get cold feet this time and you'll get lucky, you know, once bitten twice shy makes you wary the third time. It doesn't hurt to be careful. Doesn't matter if she lives in the middle of nowhere. The US embassy is in Roxas Blvd, Manila. She needs to show up there for her visa interview appointment.

Ok, the NVC has *finally* gotten my case and assigned a case # (MNLxxxx). I have a few questions on the next steps for a K1 in the Philippines.

First, what is needed for me to call and get an interview scheduled? Is it just a matter of giving it a few days for the case to be received by the US Embassy in Manila? Is there any way to know when I can call? Or do I need to fill in a DS-230? From the US Embassy web site, it seems I don't need this.

Second, with regard to proof for the I-134, do I need to provide W-2's for the last 3 tax years? I only have the last 2 years (the year before that I worked in Japan and did NOT receive a W-2 or even a year end earnings statement). I will provide the last 3 years tax transcripts, plus my last 2 years W-2s.

Third, for my letter of employment, does it matter if it is 3 or 4 months old (I will be attaching my payslips since then)?

Thanks in advance!
Dave

hello, your fiancee will have to wait for a letter from the US Embassy informing her that she can now ask for a sked interview and medical exams , would take about 3 weeks , since she is in Leyte maybe more, I am not sure .

Yep, a letter from the US Embassy will be delivered to her address informing her of the date of her interview and medical schedule in St. Luke's.

Hi Guys,
We are ready to send the forms along with the requirements, however, on the instruction sheet of the report to marriage, it states to sign the pictures at the right side of bottom front, but the pictures are too small. Has anybody from here submitted their forms with signed pictures? If so, where did you sign them? We are sending them to LA.

Thanks,

I signed my passport photos on the back. Are you talking about the passport photos? I personally appeared before the Philippine Embassy in San Francisco. The embassy has their own requirement for passport photo size. I paid $25 for the report of marriage and $50 for the renewal of passport.

So my fiance just went to Cebu for the CFO .. they will not issue her the CFO certificate without the following ...

A photo copy of MY passport ( I am hesitant on this but I will be blacking out the Passport number ) ... I don't see the need for them to have this in the first place .... unbelievable ...

Secondly they are asking for a Certificate of Singleness from me ... well if they had half a brain there they would know that my petition for my fiance wouldn't be approved if I wasn't single and free to marry ... but anyway I realize what I am dealing with here ..

Anyone know what we can do here in the US to fulfill this request for a certificate of singleness here in the US? As far as I know we don't have such a document or a cenomar like in the PHILS ... thanks for any help

Signed,

Frustrated

Kinda weird. Why do they need a photocopy of your passport? I thought she is going to need a photcopy of her passport, visa and the fees for the counselling, CFO sticker and stamp only.

I have been reading through this website quite a bit today as it is my day off ...

I am curious if others here have met their fiance or SO through a relative? And if so did you have any issues along the visa journey because of this?

I will give you a little bit of how my fiance and I met ...

I met my fiance through my father and his wife ( Who is filipina ) ... my fiance and his wife are first cousins ... initially they gave each of us each others yahoo ID's were we have talked every SINGLE day since that first day ... I assume they will look at our case more closely because of this? I would have enough faith in god and the people working at the embassy's to be able to see our love for each other is unbelievably true and committed so I really don't have any worries about this ...

Anyone else here have a similar situation, if so what was or has been your experience so far? For me I wouldn't have it any other way .. I am happy and feel blessed I met her the way I did ... she is amazing.

Thank for reading and any replies !

All I can say is fate and destiny my dear. If you believe in these things, then you are hopeless romantic like me albeit husband and I didn't meet like you did. When you and your fiance met through relative's intervention, there's always the possibility that your story can cast doubts among the US embassy folks who are involved your case. Be that as it may, you have to convince them the love that you have for each other is beyond the shadow of a doubt. star_smile.gif

Looking in your timeline.. you are not yet in the US.
But once you are hear..
1. make sure that you follows the rules in driving, else you are endangering not just your life but also life of other people. You have to unlearn some of your driving behaviour from the philippines.
2. And you need to learn to give tips.. mostly 15% of your total bill

Just few tips for your US transitions. smile.gif

I am always fascinated with the sight of these in our front yard and so are the blue jays and the deers that always come jump over our property and eat my roses.

Yeah. They fell in love. That's it. It's just matter of the heart that the heart can only answer.

It is not whether both partners come from a rich or poor country. It's where God brings them together. I, for one didn't even plan who will be my next partner in life and God gave me the most wonderful one - in the person of my husband. If there is no Philippines, there would still be GOOD LADIES who's got good moral values. It's so happens that those LADIES come from a poor nation (as what some people always say). Bottom line is with or without USA or Philippines, GOD will still bring two people together. I don't know if I get the point so well here. I just go by my instinct.

Fate or destiny. Big thanks to the internet. If there was no USA, , I would prefer marrying a Jamaican. LOL

Rocky, if there were no USA, fate might have brought you to an American transplant in Costa Rica named Guillermo! Just kiddin'. laughing.gif

laughing.gif yes.gif I would find him anyway even if Guillermo would migrate to Costa Rica and put up a ####### house there.

There will be lots of definitions to tackle, lots of discussions to argue about,BUT no matter what, filipinos or not, whether this or that race believed that they are the best wiFE of not,To EACH HIS OWN.And from my understanding, this site is for the couples who are waiting to be with each other and to help one another with this journey and not to attack Filipinas who by their own belief, they are the best wives.Anyways, they said that in the Philippine Forum, they did not go to other portals and bragged about that. This thread already reached 19 pages, been discussed about races and how they got into different countries, created lots of responses and made filipinas mad smile.gif .I seldom post and read here, and if i'm not interested in one topic,i'd rather ignore it.For those people who are sick and tired with filipinas that are bragging about themselves, you can easily ignore them, just dont create thread after thread that attacks the filipinas,i tell you, they will not just sit and let you attack them, they will go on their way to fight and support one another.Anyways, just like what others have said before,we are entitled to our own opinion and this is what internet all about.so let's give the filipinas the priviledge of adoring themselves in phils forum if that'll make them happy star_smile.gif

oh before i forget,i can attest to that that filipinas are great wives because i'm married to one...yes,i am bragging because i have proof,my wife, and i believe that all the men here are married to the greatest and the bestest wife good.gif

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL THE FATHERS LIKE ME.CHEERS EVERYONE!

Well said!!!

Funny how this conversation evolved...LOL.

Coming from you, I hope what you said will finally put an end to this issue here. Hoping. star_smile.gif

As per Filipino as a race:
1 and 2 - yes
3b - yes
3c - yes - we are on an island chain, thus we've effectively been "isolated" enough (with the exception of the past 100 years maybe) to have our own population.
5 - yes - we have our own history, language, cultural traits, etc.

OK, there you go...Therefore from those definitions I can conclude that Filipino qualifies as a race.

1 and 2 - The PI is also a huge melting pot. Lots of people from other cultures (ethnic identities). While there are some native (long term residents) there are also an lot of new entries into the culture (Japan, China, US, Spain, other Eur ancestory, etc) So how pure is the common decent/ heridity/ population? Granted in some areas probably common. In the population centers ... maybe not so. Maybe you can shed more light on this thought.

3b - physical characteristics? since there are many different cultures present in the PI ... is there a line drawn somewhere? Or does this mean that someone of spanish decent can't be of the PI "race" because they don't look enough like other parts of the population make-up?

3c - Island chain that has been through global wars, conquest, massive trading, etc. Consider that isolation in some areas may be so. The main population centers are less isolated and have been this way for lots of years.

5 - cultures, traits, etc have morphed with the influx of different cultures over the years. while it may have stabalized ... there are differences that can't be ignored.

These items listed above are also similiar to other countries that have a history of different peoples settling or visiting (influence or biological input). I'm not trying to be argumentative, only showing a different side of the issue.

There are many ethnic groups with differents and similarities between them in the PI ... just like other countries. The question is ... which ethnic group gets to be the PI "race"? And one this group is selected ... what happens to the others that have been there for generations ... yet just don't happen to quite meet the selected criteria.
Anyway ... just food for thought. It's a good discussion.

Thanks

If that's the case, how do you explain the Hispanic race? Since you are obviously making a thorough research on this? Hispanic includes people that are from various ethnic backgrounds as well. Caucasian, Negro, and Native American just to name a few.

I was suppose to reply to a comment that has been removed.

Anyways, I just wanted to say that I really didn't appreciate the foreigners attacking/insulting us filipinas. The thing is that we can't change the way they see us. I think the only thing we can do is to prove to them that they are NOT any better than us. I don't believe that keeping quiet and avoiding arguments is the way to do it, especially if they are insulting our race. While I believe that we have to choose our own battles, I also believe that if someone pick a fight, we have the right to defend ourselves but of course, we should make sure that we're fighting in the best way we can and not dragging ourselves into the mud. Let's not reply to them them the way they are responding to us here. We can do so much better than that.

And yes, Filipinas make the best wives!!! Why? Because I and the filipinas and their spouses said so and even if others strongly disagree, I don't care! We're entitled to our own opinions and that is something they should learn to respect and get over with. Let us also respect their right to claim that their nationalities are the best. Let us not attack/insult people who don't agree with us and who are attacking/insulting us. Otherwise, we won't be any different from them at all.

filipinas is a race? really? a culture yes ... an nationality yes ..

Here we go again with the filipinas make the best wives. wow ... just wow ... blink.gif

Yeah, here we go again. This argument never ends. I wonder when? Just sick and tired I guess.
